As fotografias das revistas foram fontes importantes para tratarem das práticas esportivas, ginásticas, maquiagens, formas de vestir, comer, falar; enfim, formas de viver na nova sociedade urbano-industrial brasileira a partir do modelo de Hollywood. Tais fotografias, ao revelarem as referidas práticas, tratam de um discurso maior: a beleza. As imagens das estrelas de cinema Hollywoodianas eram, sobretudo, modelos a serem seguidos de prazer, civilidade e modernidade. A casa e os mais diversos espaços de intimidade são cenários de luxo e espetacularização de um corpo que precisava ser visto e desejado para ser consumido. A educação para a beleza vai ser o discurso norteador de todas as práticas, justificando os mais diversos investimentos sobre o corpo / Abstract: This work is a view over the corporeal practices in Cinearte and Scena Muda cinema magazines, between 1921 and 1941. These magazines pictures were important sources of sporting practices, gymnastics, make-up and dressing, eating and talking forms. To sum up, ways of living in the new Brazilian urban-industrial society ¿ based on a Hollywood pattern. Such photographs, while revealing these practices aimed a more ample speech: beauty. The Hollywood like stars images, were, above all, desire, civility and modernity patterns to be followed. The house and other several camps of intimacy are sceneries of luxury and spetacularization of a body which has the need of being seen and longed for to be consumed. It is intended,therefore,to analyze the construction of characters and homoerotic practices in our cinema through the analysis of six Brazilian films . Judith Butler, for example, proposes to analyze sexuality questions in order to destabilizing categories as female or homosexuality.From the six analyzed movies and the other narratives raised, it was intended to discuss Sexual Diversity issues as discrimination, prejudice, oppression, violence, intending after this work completion, offer a comprehensive and critical view about the representation of homoerotic practices in national cinema and, also, about our society. / O presente trabalho propõe o estudo das representações das práticas homoeróticas em alguns filmes do cinema brasileiro através dos vieses pósestruturalistas. Pretende-se, assim, analisar a construção de personagens e práticas homoeróticas em nosso cinema através da análise de seis longasmetragens brasileiras. A proposta de teóricas como Butler, por exemplo, é analisar a sexualidade de forma questionadora, desestabilizando categorias até então essencializadas como o feminino ou a homossexualidade. A partir, portanto, dos seis longas analisados e das demais narrativas levantadas, pretendeu-se discutir questões caras à Diversidade Sexual na atualidade, isto é, discriminação, preconceito, opressão, violências; intencionando, assim, com a conclusão deste trabalho, oferecer um panorama abrangente e crítico da representação das práticas homoeróticas no cinema nacional e, consequentemente, na nossa sociedade.

This work includes the ritual, in latin "ritualis", as a set of practices of man, replete of symbolic values which have been recreated and incorporated by the film industry. Therefore the analysis of filmic work will be based on Satyricon of Petronius literary work which was written in the first century AD. The bridge to understand two separate worlds, the contemporary and the classic, is the focus on director and producer of movie: Federico Fellini. The popular festivals, the dance, the mysticism, the religion are human expressions that are used for mediation in cultural traditions of a particular social group and that began to integrate itself in the film language. From this perspective, we try to map the daily rituals and representations of individuals which are include on own time and space. In this way, the methodology used to analyse the movie and literary work will be based in the reading of the bibliographic material. Through of the analysis of the filmic work Satyricon of Federico Fellini, we will examine how far the Epicuru's philosophy of Carpe Diem is inserted in daily rituals and how the film industry uses the ceremonial language. / Este estudo tem por objetivo traçar uma discussão sobre os rituais cotidianos inseridos na obra fílmica o Satyricon de Federico Fellini. Este trabalho compreende o ritual, no latim ritualis, como um conjunto de práticas do homem, repleta de valores simbólicos aos quais foram recriadas e incorporadas pela indústria cinematográfica. Portanto, a análise da obra fílmica será baseada na obra literária Satyricon de Petronius escrita no século I d.C. A ponte para compreender dois mundos, do Clássico ao contemporâneo, é o foco no diretor e produtor do filme: Federico Fellini. As festas populares, a dança, o misticismo, a religião são expressões humanas que servem de mediação das tradições culturais de um determinado grupo social e que passou a se integrar na linguagem cinematográfica. Nessa perspectiva, nós buscamos mapear os rituais cotidianos e as representações dos indivíduos inseridos em seu próprio tempo e espaço. Desta forma, a metodologia usada para analisar o filme e a obra literária será baseada na leitura do material bibliográfico. Através da análise da obra fílmica Satyricon de Federico Fellini, nós analisaremos o quanto da Filosofia de Epicuro do Carpe Diem está inserida nos rituais cotidianos e como a indústria cinematográfica usa a linguagem ritualística.

Nesse contexto, iniciativas inovadoras que quebrem esse paradigma merecem ser pesquisadas, tal como a disciplina Instituições de Direito, da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, com seu método pedagógico que inclui filmes e plataforma online, objeto dessa dissertação. A pergunta de pesquisa consiste em verificar se a disciplina Instituições de Direito, na forma como foi estruturada e organizada, pode auxiliar na promoção do pleno desenvolvimento do educando no processo de formação jurídica, para além de uma análise dogmática estrita. Utilizando o conceito de cultivo da humanidade de Martha C. Nussbaum como marco teórico, realizou-se uma pesquisa empírico-qualitativa a partir de dois filmes trabalhados em aula (Grande Sertão: Veredas e Senhor das Moscas) e textos produzidos pelos estudantes, como unidades de análise, a fim de verificar se aquele método desenvolvia as capacidades elencadas por Nussbaum, notadamente a imaginação narrativa. A análise qualitativa indica que as inovações têm se mostrado eficazes ao desenvolver essas capacidades, incluindo uma maior percepção cívica e empática por parte dos estudantes. / The present research begins with a critical account of Brazilian legal education, devoted primarily to official State language, lack of reflexiveness, encyclopaedic and far from any imagination of empathy. In this context, innovative initiatives that break this paradigm deserve to be researched, such as the focus of this dissertation, the discipline Institutions of Law taught at the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, which adopts a pedagogical method, which encompasses movies and an online platform. The research question is whether Institutions of Law, as it has been conceived and organized, may contribute to the development of the student in the acquisition of juridical skills beyond the exclusive dogmatic analysis. Using Martha C. Nussbaum concept of cultivating humanity as theoretical reference, empirical-qualitative research was implemented, taking two movies presented during the classes (Grande Sertão: Veredas and Lord of the flies) as well as the collaborative texts elaborated by the students as units of analysis, so as to verify if this method has been effective in fostering the capacities Nussbaum describes, especially the narrative imagination. The data and the qualitative analysis indicate that those innovations have been successful in developing those capacities, especially an increased civic and empathic perception.

Stereotypes of British Accents in Movies : A Speech Analysis of Character Types in Movies with British Accents

This essay deals with the use of linguistic stereotypes in three different movies with British accents, namely Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, with a main focus on phonology. It investigates whether attitudes towards British accents found in studies about ideological beliefs about accent variation are reflected in the selected movies and discusses the notion of linguistic identity. The essay analyses how studies of perceived prestige and attractiveness of accents correlates to the character types males, females, main heroes, villains, comic relief and mentors in the selected movies. The essay finds a correlation between Received Pronunciation and every character type. It also finds that accents rated high on the discussed lists most often correlate to the character types mentor, villain and hero, while accents lower down on the list correlates with the character types comic relief and villains. The use of accents in these movies is probably intentional and not coincidental.

Denna studie undersöker minoritetsgruppers representation och framställning i svenska filmer. De studieobjekt som har analyserats är En underbar jävla jul och Sällskapsresan 2. Dessa filmer utkom i två olika tidsperioder, den ena 2015 (En underbar jävla jul) och den andra 1985 (Sällskapsresan 2). Syftet är att undersöka hur minoritetsgruppers framställs i ett medium som är avsett för underhållning, och vad som händer när de olika systemen av maktförhållanden och strukturer möts under en och samma arena. Målet är att bidra till en ökad uppmärksamhet och engagemang kring fenomenet. Studiens tillvägagångssätt grundar sig i diskurspsykologi som teori och metod, samt intersektionalitet som teori. Genom att kombinera två stycken teorier kan studieobjekten analyseras på ett djupare plan då de olika teorierna kompletterar varandra. Allt material som hämtades från studieobjekten transkriberades för att sedan analyseras. Analysen är uppdelad i fyra olika teman; könsroller och sexualitet, klass, politik och etnicitet. Tillsammans bidrar dessa teman till att studiens frågeställningar besvaras. Studiens resultat påvisade att minoritetsgrupper representeras i olika grad och att de ofta tilldelas stereotypa roller. Resultatet visade att svensk film har genomgått en förändring över åren, och att den idag innehar en mer öppen dialog gällande samhällsrelaterade frågor. / This study examines the portrayal of minority groups shown in swedish films. The chosen objects are En underbar jävla jul (2015) and Sällskapsresan 2 (1985). The purpose of the study is to analyze how minority groups are represented in a forum whose main desire is to entertain rather than inform and to examine what occurs when different structures of authorities collide. The study’s main ambition is to illuminate and exposure this phenomenon. The study will apply discursive psychology as its method and theory along with intersectionality. The reason behind is solely to help us get a better understanding and deepen our knowledge. The combination of the aforementioned theories will provide a unique outlook for the analysis. All material collected from the films were at first hand transcribed and later analyzed. The analyses was divided into four different themes; gender roles and sexuality, class, politics and ethnicity. The four themes will contribute the answers of the study’s main questions. The results concluded that minority groups were often given stereotypic features as well as being given little to no exposure in films. However the results also showed that swedish movies are evolving and is being more open to discuss and display what once was considered prohibited subjects.

A Woman's Territory: Female Protagonists in 21st Century Road Movie–Based Fairy Tale Films

This paper closely examines fairy tale films with road movie components, in particular those films featuring female protagonists. The study’s objective is twofold: first, to further develop existing research on the road movie by exploring one of the lesser known constituents of this broad genre and, second, to address gaps in scholarly literature on road movies when it comes to themes in female-led trips and the characterization of travelling females. Through a detailed analysis of the journeys of female characters in recent voyage-oriented fairy tale films—Peter Pan (P.J. Hogan, 2003), Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton, 2010) and Tangled (Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, 2010)—the investigation shows that these new heroines significantly differ from those of old. Their travels are portrayed as being less difficult, and the traits that they exhibit while on the road, namely fearlessness, rationality and an undying optimism, are rather favourable when compared to those exhibited by former road heroines. Although these protagonists still face characters who wish to impede their movement away from a domestic setting, it is demonstrated that the protagonists are ultimately successful in not only acquiring power in the surroundings that they find themselves in, but also in carrying over their goals and dreams to their own worlds upon their return, privileges that most former road heroines did not have. Ultimately, the study shows that females can be as efficient travellers as males, and in some cases are portrayed as even more competent than their male counterparts.
