Moräntäckta rullstensåsar i Västerbottens inland

Lynam, Anna January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to map the distribution of till-covered eskers in the inland of Västerbotten County in northern Sweden. The top layers of big eskers along the valleys of Öre River, Ume River and Vindel River were investigated through shallow digging. Findings were investigated through field assessment and soil analysis and many locations with till-covered eskers have been identified in Västerbotten's inland in this survey. The till covering the eskers has probably been transported only short distances and has its origins in glacifluvial material. The pattern is not consistent and there are areas where till does not cover the eskers. This can be explained trough irregular till deposition or that the till has been washed away or alternatively that the upper layer that is interpreted as glacifluvial material actually is till that has only been transported for very short distances. The findings of till-covered eskers in Västerbotten means that the traditional view of the eskers originating from the last deglaciation (Weichsel 3) may need to be reviewed. Where overlaying till has been found on top of eskers it means that the eskers must have originated in an earlier glaciation than the last. Only one layer of till could be discerned on the eskers in the survey, so an explanation could be that the till formed during Weichsel 3 and that the eskers formed earlier by the deglaciation of Weichsel 2, but dating the layers in till-covered eskers is difficult. No transition zone between till-covered to not till-covered eskers was found in this study.

In the cities this flavour does not exist : Possibilities with a local literary teaching

Silverdal, Sara January 2019 (has links)
This essay examines how local literature from the region of Västerbotten in Sweden can be used in the teaching of values in the Swedish upper secondary school. A postcolonial perspective is used in an analysis of three novels and two short stories from the region. The works in focus of this analysis is The Tar Still(1953) by Sara Lidman,The march of the musicians(1978) by P O Enquist, Hash(2002) by Torgny Lindgren and two short stories from Beasts and Other Stories (2015) by Stina Stoor. The analysis focuses on how the construction of center and periphery is constructed in these stories. Then it is discussed how the concept of center and periphery can be used in the teaching of values. The result shows that the use of language, the attitude towards different geographical places and the constant negotiations of power in relationships, are areas where these novels and short stories relates to a postcolonial writing tradition. The values system in the Swedish school contains writings about cultural identity and democratic values that can be addressed through teaching local literature using a postcolonial perspective. These themes are to be found at different levels in these stories, in the stylistics as well as in the plot. The essay uses theories by Louise Rosenblatt, Martha Nussbaum and Gunilla Molloy to discuss the possibilities with this sort of literary teaching. Representation and a broadening of literary experiences is discussed as two of the foremost advantages with this type of local literary teaching.

Anttila, Martin January 2019 (has links)

Local media reporting - a fumbling blind to the audience who quietly surrenders? : A study of the audience’s and newsroom’s views on the local media reporting in Västerbotten and the relation between audience and editorial staff

Kejerhag, Jenny, Nordgren, Shanelle January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis, “Local news - a fumbling in darkness after an audience that leavesquietly”, is to investigate how the local news media in Västerbotten decides what to reportabout, and what to leave out and why. It also investigates what the audience think about thenews they are being served. It looks at the relationship between the audience and the localnews media. Four different local media companies are being examined, two of them arepublic service media, the Swedish Television and the Swedish Radio. The other two arenewspapers and private owned media companies, Västerbottens-kuriren and VästerbottensFolkblad. The theories that are being used in this thesis is gatekeeping, agenda setting, localjournalism, click journalism, journalists ideal and audience studies such as uses andgratification. The methods that are used are a quantitative survey and semi-structuredinterviews. The survey is directed to audience to get a sense of what news they want and howthey look at their relationship with local news media companies. The purpose of theinterviews is to get a view of how the media companies are producing news, and how theyexperience their relationship with their audience. The study has shown that the audiencedoesn't always know what they want the news media to report about. One overall themethough was that the audience wished for more local news. The media companies have theambition to produce local news and cover the whole county but fails due to the lack ofresources. The media needs a more active audience to increase the support both in trust, butalso for their economy. Here both the media companies and the audience has a responsibilityin the question.

Jonsson, Mats January 2007 (has links)

Olausson, Lotta January 2012 (has links)
The valleys southwest of Storuman has been exploration targets for sulfide mineralizations like the Laisvall Pb-Zn deposit since the late 1900 when several mineralized boulders where found. No previous glaciogeological survey has been made. This report focus on the directions of local paleoiceflows and glacial transportation in the area of Skikkisjön, the location of the westernmost mineralized boulder, found in 2010. The aim of this study has been to create a picture of the glaciogeological evolution of the area in order to determinate possible hostrock areas. My results suggest that the geomorphology and transportation occurred during a western icedivide located in the nearby mountainrange. The survey area is characterized by topographically controlled iceflows witch appears to be linked between the valleys. The iceflow velocity was considerably higher in the major valleys compared to the surrounding areas indicated by the distribution of longtransported material.
