In this work, we investigate the performance of full-rate full-diversity space-time codes (FRFD-STCs) under practical conditions. In this thesis, we first discuss the performance of FRFD-STCs in the moderate SNR region. We also compare FRFD-STCs with spatial multiplexing, using the same transmission rate, for both un-coded and coded systems. The results show that spatial multiplexing is as good as FRFD-STCs with channel coding. Secondly, we investigate the issue of quantization, i.e. the effect of the quantization error in the space-time encoding matrix. Our analysis and results show that the performance loss is negligible. Finally, we propose two receiver structures in the presence of imperfect channel state information (CSI). The two receivers use the VEM module as the channel estimator and MIMO detector respectively. Both receivers are of low complexity, and have better performance than the methods proposed previously.

Vi har valt att utifrån ett socialpsykologiskt perspektiv studera problematiken inom tränarrollen i att balansera ett lags välmående samtidigt som man strävar efter att nå resultat. Syftet med vår studie är att få en ökad förståelse för vad som kan vara bra att tänka på som tränare för att i styrning kunna kombinera fokus på resultat och välbefinnande på ett optimalt sätt. Vi har genomfört en kvalitativ studie där vi har genomfört observationer och kvalitativa intervjuer för att samla in vårt material. Vi har arbetat induktivt utifrån vår empiri och har använt oss av teorier kring socialisationsprocesser, interaktionsritualer, intersubjektivitet och idrottens fenomenologiska struktur för att få en förståelse och skapa ett sammanhang för vår data. Vi har även använt oss av tidigare forskning kring idrottsledarens sociala roll, ledarskap & styrning och elitcoachers syn på sig själva för att få en ökad förståelse och för att läsarna ska få en bredare bild kring vår frågeställning. För att kunna nå och sträva efter resultat och samtidigt ha en grupp som mår bra krävs en tydlig kommunikation från ledare och organisation. För att balansera upp välmående och samtidigt sträva efter resultat krävs det en förståelse hos spelarna över de besluts som tas.

Studiens syfte har varit att undersöka huruvida individer som väljer att utbilda sig i en kommunikationsmodell upplever förändring i interaktion med andra människor efter avslutad utbildning. Studien är kvalitativ och grundar sig på en hermeneutisk forskningsansats vilket innebär att vi har tolkat några individers upplevelser av sin utbildning i Nonviolent Communication (NVC), både före, under och efter utbildningen. Vi har använt oss av semistrukturerade intervjuer med en man och åtta kvinnor. Åldern på respondenterna har varierat och de har arbetat eller arbetar inom olika sociala yrken. I tolkningen av det empiriska materialet spelar Randall Collins begrepp interaktionsritualer en viktig roll i tydningen av utbildningstillfällets betydelse för respondenterna. Moira Von Wrights tolkning av George Herbert Meads olika begrepp är vår andra huvudteori, och den blir relevant i förhållande till den perspektivväxling som många av respondenterna beskriver att de upplevt efter utbildningen. Von Wright beskriver två möjliga perspektiv människor betraktar varandra på i interaktion, ett punktuellt och ett relationellt perspektiv. Arlie Hochschilds begrepp emotionellt arbete är relevant eftersom NVC som modell handlar om att förstå känslornas betydelse. Ulla Holms tankar om empatins två riktningar fyller även dessa en viktig funktion i uppsatsen eftersom vi tolkar det som att respondenterna pendlar mellan den känslomässiga empatin och den intellektuella empatin och att båda behövs. I uppsatsen finns en sammanfattning av intervjuerna med respondenterna, där de beskriver hur de har formats och påverkats av sina upplevelser under och efter sin utbildning i NVC. Det har även framkommit att respondenternas intentioner är att leva upp till ett relationellt förhållningssätt och att möta andra individer som ett vem, vilket är Von Wrights begrepp, och att denna förmåga ökat efter utbildningen. Men det har även visat sig att det finns omständigheter som styr respondenterna mot ett punktuellt perspektiv och i interaktion möter andra som Von Wrights begrepp ett vad. Dock finns det en medvetenhet hos respondenterna när förflyttningen mellan att möta och se andra som ett vem till ett vad eller tvärtom sker.

Studien undersöker vilka sociala grupper som representeras på hemsidorna från de fyra ekonomiskt mest framgångsrika researrangörerna i Sverige. Studien tar även upp vilka stereotyper och normer som förekommer. Målet med uppsatsen var att jämföra resultatet med liknande studier för andra branscher. I studien använde jag mig av en kvantitativ innehållsanalys för att definiera vilka som syns, samt en bildanalys för att hitta stereotyper och normer i materialet. Studien fann en extrem generalisering i vilka som syns. Däribland var 98,6% av personerna ljushyade, endast 0,4% icke-smala, samt 0% hade en fysisk funktionsnedsättning. Resultatet visade att resebranschen har en mindre mångfald än vad som hittats i tidigare forskning. Gällande stereotyper och normer fann studien att de som representerades i bildmaterialet framställdes som hälsosamma och måna om familjelivet. Studien fann även att resebranschen står för en icke-sexistisk bild av kvinnor trots att det var fler kvinnor än män på bilderna, och trots att de ofta var lättklädda.

The VEM Drive (Variable-Electro-Magnetic Drive) is an invention by Space Warp Dynamics LLC that claims to distort space-time and thus creating an attractive force upon a target using frequencies in the VHF band. The experimental setup was replicated and tested at the Institute of Aerospacee Engineering at TU Dresden. We conclude that no anomalous force was present within our tested power levels and balance resolution some 6 orders of magnitude below the reported claim. The interaction of the high frequency with the power supply that was controlling a voice-coil actuator for teh balance was found to be responsible for a faciity side-effect that can mimic such an effect. This is important to consider foro future measurements.

Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka hur elever använder sitt historiemedvetande för att reflektera över sin identitet samt undersöka om eleverna uppfattar sig själva som historiska personer, det vill säga att de är delar av och aktörer i framtidens historia. Empirin insamlades med hjälp av enkätundersökning som var utformad för att få kvalitativa svar. Undersökningen utfördes i två femteklasser på samma skola. Undersökningen kom fram till att elever i stor utsträckning använder sin historiska referensram i en diskussion om ”vem är jag?”. Undersökningen kom också fram till att det inte går att uttala sig om elevers identiteter dock görs ett försök att generalisera över gruppens identitet.

This paper examines how femininity is negotiated in the play "Vem som hon" from an intersectional perspective based on five female characters. The narrative space is an unspoken suburb in Stockholm. The play deals with themes such as sisterhood, violence, poverty, racism and segregation. Through a narrative analysis of the script and the recording of the play, it examines how femininity is made in the place linked to race and class. The essay aims to answer how the characters negotiate femininity in the play and what boundaries they relate to and what role the place has in their creation of femininity. The essay wants to highlight the girls' voices and show a complex picture of the suburb as a place where people's identities are changing and multifaceted. The conclusion shows that the characters in different ways move across the boundaries of what is considered feminine and masculine and that they construct themselves through a sense of belonging to each other and the suburb as a place. Through ideals of chastity and religion, the characters try to gain respectability while their lives are characterized by violence and a rejection of normative feminine ideals.

War has for all through the years adopted various guises and been performed by various actors for a wide variety of destination. But what is really a war? Why is war fought? How is war fought? By whom is war fought? Machiavelli, Clausewitz, Kaplan, Kaldor, Creveld and Krulak are just a few among others who have made valiant attempts to explain war and its nature. What did they find? This essay maps out their studies in the hope of finding some kind of continuity that can give a clearer picture of what war really is. It is important to point out; the goal is not to try to make a definition of war, but merely an attempt to find some kind of continuity. The study finds that as society develops, bridges get built and contracts are signed, everything falls apart at some point and you can  never be sure that something as complex as a war to retain some form of continuity, if any – it would be the power it contains, but barely it.

This dissertation presents the results of a Ph.D. research entitled as methodology development for SME based virtual enterprises. The research addresses the preparation and set up of virtual enterprises and enterprise networks. A virtual enterprise (VE) can be perceived as a customer solution delivery system created by a temporary and re-configurable information and communications technology (ICT) enabled aggregation of competencies. The main achievements of the research include: &amp / #8226 / Clarification and definition of the concept for virtual enterprises and enterprise networks including preparation of these. o A fast and efficient setup of virtual enterprises can be enabled through the establishment of an enterprise network in which an appropriate type and degree of work preparation can be established prior to the set up of virtual enterprises. &amp / #8226 / Development of a framework and a reference architecture for virtual enterprises named as Structured Methodology and ICT Reference Architecture respectively. o Structured Methodology structures the body of knowledge related to preparation, set up and operation of virtual enterprises and enterprise networks. o ICT reference architecture consists of three levels with seven layers to portray in a diagrammatic fashion how different enterprises may exchange and use information between their respective organizations&amp / #8217 / specific proprietary systems and a central server. &amp / #8226 / Development of a methodology for virtual enterprise named as Virtual Enterprise Methodology (VEM) o VEM consists of a set of guidelines, which systematically describes activities that enterprises should consider in relation to set up and preparation of own enterprise networks with the aim to set up virtual enterprises. &amp / #8226 / Testing and validation of the developed VEM with the realization of a virtual case study and establishment of a validation platform respectively. o Virtual case study demonstrates the application of the developed VE methodology with the illustration of the key activities related to setting up breeding environment, setting up &amp / operating VE and dissolution of VE. o The findings in the research can be validated through the various activities as meetings, conferences, presentations and publication of journals.
