The influence of the learner profile on recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessment

Snyman, Maria 06 1900 (has links)
The recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment process through which experience gained outside academic contexts is recognised. The purpose of the research was to determine the influence the learner profile has on RPL assessment. To realise the purpose, the learner profile was described and consequently learning outcomes formulated for a portfolio workshop. The method which the study followed was a qualitative interpretative approach. The research comprised a literature study about adult learning theories that served as a theoretical framework for the study, as well as an overview of RPL assessment, followed by an empirical study. The empirical research component followed a multiple data collection method. The personal life stories of the research participants were analysed in order to compile a learner profile. The role the workshop played was determined from a learner perspective by means of an open questionnaire for participants. It included a collection of workshop photographs. Finally, the reflection of a group of RPL learners about their personal learning experiences was analysed. The research found that the learner profile included distinctive personal traits, such as motivation, task orientation, a sense of responsibility and an orientation towards the future. The nature of the learner profile as well as of informal learning gained within diverse learning contexts require directed preparation for assessment. The learners regarded the portfolio workshop as a sustainable learning process and as a transformational learning experience. The role the workshop played was multidimensional, as it served as preparation for compiling the portfolio. It also empowered and prepared the learner on a personal level for the context of tertiary education. Based on the research findings, the recommendations for an RPL approach should include the following: Firstly, the learner‟s voice should be afforded recognition. Secondly, preparation for assessment is essential. Thirdly, the preparation should follow an approach of assessment as a sustainable learning process. Finally, the learning outcomes for the portfolio workshop make a contribution to support the learners in bridging the learning contexts of informal learning and academic learning. The research makes a valuable contribution, as the empirical research shows that the holistic learner profile guides the approach to assessment. The mission of RPL to bring about transformation will only become a reality if a learner-centred approach recognises and empowers the learner on a personal and academic level. / This study is inserted in a larger research project, the Oficinando em Rede, that has been developed in the Integrated Center of Psychological and Social Attention (Centro Integrado de Atenção Psicossocial - CIAPS) of São Pedro Psychiatric Hospital (Hospital Psiquiátrico São Pedro - HPSP), since its creation in 2004. The Oficinando em Rede has been contributing for the implementation of different technologies of attention in this service and has been researching into the formation of nets by its users and staff. The present research - Workshops of Passage Plots: the encounter between technology and the process of being an adolescent in suffering (Oficinando Enredos de Passagem: o encontro do adolescer em sofrimento com a tecnologia) – seeks to investigate how the encounter between young people and digital technology takes place in a space of sharing and listening, a service called Technological Workshops (Oficinas Tecnológicas) that is structured at CIAPS. Constituted at the edge of HPSP, the Center is situated in the passage between technologies and diverse paradigms of attention, what brings subjective effects to the individuals that integrate it. This research has as a starting point the question if the encounter with the computers, including the specificities of its modes of operation in the workshops, can favor – and in which way – the unfolding of plots and narratives by young people that live with hindrances of different orders in the process of becoming adolescents. Additionally, the research aims to comprehend the impasses and the passages that are highlighted by the narratives produced by the young people. It started from the workshops that were developed with six young people under ambulatory care at CIAPS/HPSP, from March 2007 to December 2007. Throughout the analysis of different movements of appropriation of digital technologies, the possibilities of interaction, the shared experiences, addressing and narratives developed in the workshops, the research seeks to answer and re-launch questions that made the development of this dissertation possible.

Oficinas terapêuticas com crianças em uma clínica-escola de psicologia: utilização de contos de fadas / Therapeutical workshops with children in a psychological teaching clinic: using fairytales

Fernanda Romano Soares 15 August 2011 (has links)
The objective of this research was to verify the impact of therapeutic fairytale workshops with children in the service flow and in the lives of the participants in the context of the teaching clinics as well as evaluating if the projective instrument CAT-A contributes as a way to measure intervention results and if so, in which way. The intention is to contribute to the development of the ethical-theoretical-practical knowledge in relation to a specific type of psychological service that allows for a larger amount of spots for the children who seek the clinic. A therapeutic workshop with the use of fairytales was conduced with 5 children between the ages of 6 and 7 that were waiting for their psychological appointment in the teaching clinic. An interview with the parents was done initially to investigate the reasons of the appointment, general aspects of the children and their relationships. In the first individual session with each child the CAT-A was applied. Then the 11 weekly workshops were done, using 9 different fairytales. In each session one of the tales was read in three fragments. The children were asked to draw their favourite thing form each fragment and explain it. The chosen tales comprehended different development stages. After the conclusion of the workshop, the CAT-A was reapplied individually, followed by a quick feedback on the workshop. The parents also had a feedback session, clarifying doubts. The results show an amplification of the initial complaint brought by the parents and it was clear, through their reports, that the initiative contributed to the enhancement of the childrens resources to handle their conflicts. It was possible to handle a larger number of clients, which in turn had a positive impact on the waiting line. The CAT-A helped in the clarification of the complaint through the access of latent content that reflect the childs experience and functioning, allowing for a more global approach of the presented problem. The results indicate this kind of work could be adopted more frequently by institutions for the benefit of their own service, of the students and especially of the community in need of care institutions. It is important to mention the need of other studies like this one, with larger groups to verify the application of the obtained results

How to support and enhance communication : in a student software development project / Hur man stöder och förstärker kommunikation : i ett studentdrivet mjukvaruutvecklingsprojekt

Ahlström, Catharina, Fridensköld, Kristina January 2002 (has links)
This report, in which we have put an emphasis on the word communication, is based on a student software development project conducted during spring 2002. We describe how the use of design tools plays a key role in supporting communication in group activities and to what extent communication can be supported and enhanced by tools such as mock-ups and metaphors in a group project. We also describe a design progress from initial sketches to a final mock-up of a GUI for a postcard demo application.

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (1704-1778) : un sculpteur du roi au temps des Lumières / Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (1704-1778), royal sculptor of the Enlightenment

Champy-Vinas, Cécilie 11 March 2017 (has links)
Born in a family of Parisian sculptors, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne was trained under the Régence period when the rocaille style triumphed. His fame then was rooted in Louis XV’s favor. From the 1730s to the 1750s, Lemoyne became renowned for his colossal sculptures. In less than ten years, between 1743 and 1754, he erected in Bordeaux and Rennes two monuments to glorify the King, thus achieving a unique artistic as well as technological performance. From the 1750s on, Lemoyne focused on sculpting portraits, thus preceding Houdon in being the sculptor of illustrious men. Although he was a celebrated and well-known artist during his lifetime, Lemoyne’s fame vanished after he died. Most of his religious and royal monuments were destroyed during the French Revolution. His work, despised by the néoclassique generation, fell into oblivion. Unlike his rivals Bouchardon and Houdon, he remained unstudied for a long time. My dissertation proposes to reconsider one of the leading figures of eighteenth-century French sculpture. I particularly focus on three points: the aesthetic heritage Lemoyne received from his family, his influential workshop, and the key role played by enlightened networks and societies in his successful career as a portraitist.
