Reversed Celebrity Endorsement : Do values transfer from company to celebrity?

Andersson, Sebastian, Larsson, Oskar January 2016 (has links)
This study regards Celebrity Endorsements, meaning collaborations where celebrities vouch for a product or a company in order to exchange values and hopefully increase sales. Previous research within this field is focused on what a celebrity can provide for the company. This essay examines the phenomena from the other direction, meaning what the company can provide to the celebrity. We want to find out if the swedes, football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robin Carlsson, also known as the pop artist Robyn, through separate celebrity endorsement actions regarding the campaign “Made by Sweden” by Volvo, assumes values from the company. In order to apply our results on existing theoretical frameworks and thereby enabling ourselves to answer our questions, we have chosen to relate to previous research regarding celebrity endorsements, theories regarding how messages are transmitted, for instance the Meaning transfer model, as well as marketing theories regarding brand identity. Through three focus group interviews, we received an image of the two celebrities from the respondents, making the foundation for our analysis. Through comparing the image created by the respondents with the profile of the company, we could determine whether values had been transmitted from the company to the celebrity. Our study concluded that values are not transmitted from company to celebrity. Values encoded by the company were not represented in the image pictured by our respondents regarding the celebrities. The study does however show that a celebrity may gain new values through a celebrity endorsement action.

Fridh, Sara, Wilhelmsson, Daniel January 2012 (has links)
The Swedish soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the most well-publicized sports profile in Swedish newspapers during 2010 and 2011. The tabloid newspapers Expressen and Aftonbladet have one reporter each stationed in Milan, Italy, whose sole purpose is to report the events of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his team AC Milan. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to establish the reasons to why he is so well-publicized through the eyes of Swedish journalists at Expressen and Aftonbladet. Further, we intend to investigate how they write about him, why they do so, what characteristics make him well-publicized and what the consequences from this are. The analysis will be connected to theories such as masculinity, the vortex-effect and tabloidization. The information is gathered through quantitative analysis, namely through half structured interviews with five reporters, columnist and news directors at each of the two newspapers. The results show that it is the involvement of the reader in Zlatan Ibrahimovic that makes the newspapers write so much about him, not as the readers themselves might think – because his name at the front of the newspapers boosts the sales of single copies. Another conclusion is that the focus on Zlatan Ibrahimovic within Swedish media creates a risk of missing other major news.

Preljevic, Dzenisa January 2020 (has links)
Zlatan's statue is vandalized after a business decision, which really has nothing to do with his identity, but still a lot is written about him as "the other". The purpose of this survey is to find out how Zlatan is represented after this business decision in the online publications I chose to analyze. I also want to find out if there are any similarities between the three online publications I chose: Svenska Dagbladet, Sydsvenskan and Dagens Nyheter. Nine articles in total but three articles per online publication, therefore I have chosen to use a qualitative method such as text analysis. In the analysis, I will link the results to theories such as the imagined community, representation and the design theory. The results show that there are similarities in how the different online publications represent Zlatan after the business decision, is as "the other".

Zlatanstatyns 107 dagar : Svenska tidningars rapportering kring Zlatanstatyn - en kvantitativ innehållsanalys

Henriksson, Albin January 2020 (has links)

A study of how different countries newspapers write about Sweden and Portugal's national heroes

Berglund, Emil, Idemark, Oscar January 2013 (has links)
In this C-essay examines how football players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo depicts in different countries media, especially newspapers and web sites. To our help we have used the theories of national stereotypes, the National Sporting Heroes, sporting stars in sports journalism and the theory of news values and media logic. We have made qualitative textual analysis of newspaper and internet articles from seven different countries and made a depth interview with Johanna Frändén, journalist Sportbladet and Swedish Television. The results show that there may be a distinct differences in how a person or event depicted in different countries. / Ligue 1 and Zlatan Ibrahimović. : A quantitative and qualitative comparative study of Sportbaldet’s reporting of the French football league

Söderlund, Christoffer, Öhlund Svensson, Elin January 2016 (has links)
In this essay, we have studied whether the Swedish newspaper Sportbladet reporting on the French football league (Ligue 1) is different from the season before to season after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Paris Saint-Germain FC in the summer of 2012. The teories that we applied were news values, framing and personalization. In order to complete our investigation, we used two different methods: a quantitative content analysis and critical discourse analysis to see if the news valuation and framing are different, but also to see what impact Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival has on the media coverage of the league. The result of the quantitative content analysis and the critical discourse analysis shows huge differences between 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. Sportbladet published ten times as many articles during Zlatan’s debut season in the league in comparasion with the previous season. The articles became generally larger, better placed in the newspaper and contained more columns about the subject. We could also note more focus on individuals in the articles. This change is mainly explained by the increased geographical and cultural proximity during the 2012/13 season, which arose in connection with Ibrahimovic’s transfer from Milan to Paris Saint-Germain. The result was pretty much as we had expected. The 2012/13 season was way more covered with a particular focus on Zlatan and his team in the articles. That shows what kind of importance a national super star like Zlatan Ibrahimovic has on the reporting from the French league.

Nixon, Emelie, Rojas Johansson, Alma January 2008 (has links)
<p>Our starting point has been to use the football player Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a model person for individualism that seams to break the ordinary socialization pattern in Sweden. The purpose of this study is to examine how the team leaders handle the socialization of more individualistic focused individuals/young persons into groups, since the Swedish School Curriculum is designed to meet each individual on his or hers former experiences. Is the socialization of individuals within team sports affected by their cultural background? And, in that case, should those facts have consequences for the sport subject at school? Those are the questions we want to explore. Besides a survey of documents, we have been seeking answers to our questions through interviews with the team leaders Roland Nilsson and Peter Bergander, the pedagogues/teachers Karin Jutterström and Håkan Jensgård and the professional football player Abgar Barson.</p><p>Our study shows that the leaders and teachers of today have begun to change their view about individualists. Further, our study shows that young persons with other ethnic origin/foreign background that choose their own ways can be disqualified by a national view that is different from the perception of the ethnic Swedish, when they break the unwritten and unspoken rules and standards.</p><p>Our conclusion is that a change seems to be happening in the mentality of the mainstream Swedish society. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become an object of identification for many young people in Sweden during the last years. It´s our point of view that the concept of “being a Zlatan” stands for a person that dares to be an extreme individualist. We believe that we stand upon a change of paradigm on the notion of individualism in Sweden since the collective thinking in Swedish society seems to be developing towards a higher acceptance for an individualistic behaviour. This is, as we see it, a development within team sports as well as a development in the rest of Swedish society, for instance, within the educational system. </p>
