The research started from a systematic review of the literature accessed by a careful survey of the articles published in the leading journals of social sciences in Brazil between 1992 and 2010. It was observed that the late inclusion of social sciences in this context is pervaded by their relationship with the natural sciences, since it is an inherently multidisciplinary theme built from various epistemological. The goal is to make an investigation that serve the social sciences as a means of reflection and self-knowledge, in an attempt to explain the discursive specificity of this type of knowledge in the setting of the arguments about the biodiversity conservation. Making a cross-sectional analysis of the main arguments advanced by the authors in the survey, it was revealed that there is heterogeneity in the formulation of problems and research procedures used, which is linked to a variety of disciplinary training, the research centers where they work and context of the field. This heterogeneity has demanded a greater reflection on the relationship between social sciences and natural sciences and on the practical consequences of forms of representation used.

The time series used were 47 years (1967 to 2013) and 71 years (1943 to 2013). Both series come from 100 existing stations belonging to ANA, CPRM, INMET, SERLA and LIGHT. The temporal series (raw data) were faulty and were filled with TRMM satellite 3B43 product (1998 to 2013) and INMET climatological norm (1947 to 1997). The series were submitted to descriptive, exploratory, parametric (Shapiro-Wilks-SW and Barlett-B), non-parametric tests (Mann-Kendall-MK, Sen-Se, Pettitt and SOCUM), Box Cox transformation and analysis Grouping (AA). In addition, monthly data from the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI2) between 2001- 2012 with the objective of verifying the trend of increase and decrease of vegetation in the ERJ by non-parametric tests and future scenarios by the Markov Chain. Estimation of the monthly mean air temperature (Tmi) in the ERJ based on observed series and reanalyses or the composition of both, and being adjusted to the three-base linear multiple regression (RLM) and linear regression models: Bases 1 Reanalysis / NCEP), 2 (INMET / NCDC) and 3 (Reanalysis / NCEP and INMET / NCDC) between 1948 and 2015. Descriptive analysis showed a probability of occurrence above 75%. The SW and B tests presented a low significance level for p-value (? < 5%) and the hypothesis of normality and homogeneity of variances in the stations was rejected. The Box Cox transformation was effective in stabilizing the residue normality and homogeneity of variance of the monthly rainfall series of the Middle Para?ba and Serrana regions, except for the Northwest Fluminense. The high variability of ? (0.326 to 0.565) is due to the fact that most of the stations are in the Sierra do Mar slope facing the mainland, where rainfall is influenced by the interaction of topography with local and synoptic systems, only one season In the Serra do Mar slope facing the Atlantic Ocean with influence of the coastal environment and the mesoscale and synoptic systems, in the series of 71 years. Based on AA were chosen 11 stations with normality or homogeneity of variance characterized two homogeneous pluviometric groups (G1 and G2) in the ERJ. For the trend analysis, the MK test and method were shown the presence of non significant trends of rainfall increase in the annual and seasonal scales. Pettitt and SOCUM were efficient in identifying the years of possible non-significant or insignificant abrupt changes in the 71-year time series. The SOCUM test identified 39 ENSO events in groups G1 and G2. The highest percentage in the neutral events (48.72%) and the lowest in the moderate El Ni?o and La Ni?a weak and strong (5.13%). An insignificant trend of vegetation growth is observed at 75%, followed by a significant downward trend of 25% of the ERJ Government regions. The Pettitt test showed the existence of abrupt changes not significant (NS), both growth and vegetation decrease in 6 regions and significant (S) decrease in 2 regions. The predictions of changes ranging from 1 to 2 years at constant intervals (3 to 10 years) were observed in all future scenarios. Bases 1 and 2 presented the highest number of significant coefficients, according to the F test for (p-value <0.05), the exception was Base 3. The latitude variable (?1) was more significant, followed by altitude (?3 ) In all Bases. Significant values of r2 (> 0.80) and r (> 0.90) in Base 2 and Base 1 with r2 (> 0.50) and r (> 0.70). The adjusted RLM models explained most of the spatial variability of Tmi for the ERJ. The parametric tests of SW and B applied to the monthly rainfall series without treatment and to the reduced variable the normal distribution standardized to 95% of probability point to the hypotheses of non-normality and neither homogeneity of the time series. The high sensitivity of the rainfall series to the B test were observed in the eight Government regions, due to the rigor of the test. The lambda coefficients of the Box Cox transformation applied to the monthly rainfall series for data without treatment and the reduced variable of the standardized normal distribution do not present efficiency in the stabilization of the homogeneity of the variances. Confirmed by the test of B, in 99.58% and 100% of the events. The efficiency found only in the stabilization of normality in 81.33% and 81.58% of the monthly cumulative frequencies of data without treatment and the reduced variable. Moderate performance of SPI methods with untreated and Box Cox versus SPI-transformed data with reduced-box data transformed by Box Cox is evident in SPI-1, which shows the presence of significant variations of statistical parameters in the Norte, Costa Verde, Baixada Litor?nea e Metropolitana shortage, followed by low performance of the r2 coefficient in the ERJ regions. SPI-12 shows a significant high dispersion of the coefficient r, followed by a low to very low performance, and a low coefficient r2. This indicates poor accuracy of SPI index estimates in both methods. The EPE and RMSE errors do not present significant variations, in the durations of 1 and 12 months. A high variation of the rec coefficients with the index d in the SPI-1 month is verified, a poor performance of the methods with data without treatment and with transformed by Box Cox versus SPI with data of the reduced variable transformed by Box Cox, for the SPI-12 Was verified in the ERJ regions. The temporal / annual analyzes of SPI-1 and 12 in the regions show a high variability and greater intensity of SPI-1, unlike SPI-12. SPI-1 and SPI-12 in the regions show similarity in the behavior of SPI-1 and SPI-12, where the highest and lowest frequencies of droughts categorized as moderately, extremely and extremely dry were recorded in the 70, 80, 90, 2000 and in the period 2010/2013, except for the 60. Events of ENOS were observed in the study period. The Pettitt test identified the years of changes in the SPI-12 index, in 1977 (El Ni?o weak), 1984 (La Ni?a weak), 1989 (Neutral), 1992 (Neutral) and 2002 (Moderate El Ni?o). The prevailing category was close to normal in the Norte Fluminense, Baixadas Litor?neas and Costa Verde regions, followed in the other regions of Government in some parts (SW), (SSW) (SE) and (NE). The moderately dry category occurred in the regions, Metropolitana, Centro Sul Fluminense, M?dio Para?ba, Serrana and NoroesteFluminense, and the other parts in the (SW), (NW) and (NNE) portions of the ERJ. In short, the application of statistical, parametric and non-parametric tests, chain of markov, multivariate analysis are efficient tools in the evaluation of natural disasters in the ERJ. ANA, CPRM, INMET, SERLA e LIGHT.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Ci?ncia Florestal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2012. / ABSTRACT This study aimed to know the structure of the tree community, diversity, richness, the ecological functions of species, the influence of environmental variables, spatial and functional patterns of the species in the vegetation distribution in a fragment of Deciduous Forest. The study was conducted in areas of legal reserve of private properties in the municipality of President Juscelino (MG), at coordinates 18 ? 38'40 "S and 44 ? 04'57" W, with altitudes ranging between 600 and 890 m. The remainder has approximately 150 ha, with concave topography and steep slopes. Portions were observed areas with a high degree of human disturbance. There is evidence of clear-cutting in a strip of vegetation, as well as selective logging of some species of commercial interest. Also noteworthy is the existence of disorders such as high soil compaction caused by the entry of cattle in some parts, natural and anthropogenic clearings, exposed soil and trails along the fragment. For the forest inventory were allocated 25 permanent plots of 20 ? 20 m (400 m?), a total sample area of ??1 hectare. These were all sampled trees with circumference at breast height (CAP)> 15.7 cm, except lianas and dead individuals. The sampled species were classified into five systems guilds (ecological group, dispersion, pollination, desiccation tolerance and density of the timber) to form functional groups. To assess the relationships between environmental variables and distribution of tree compartment were collected randomly within each plot five single samples of surface soil (0-20 cm), with about 500 g of soil. Apart from the soil were collected relevant variables, canopy and impact matrix (natural and man-made). These were submitted to a Principal Component Analysis (PCA), where only five of the 28 initial variables were highly correlated: Limestone (Ca), Potassium (k), Clay, exposed rock and organic matter. Three of the five species of greatest importance value showed diameter distributions related to effects of disorder and post-response characteristics of the species itself. There was a high value H ', which indicates an area with relatively high diversity and a low value for J' and a strong predominance ecological species. The results of analysis of variance partitioning from the multiple regression models made for each shaft NMDS analysis showed that the distribution of vegetation is highly correlated with the spatial structure and is partly influenced by environmental clay and organic matter. The classification analysis Twinspan identified four distinct groups among the studied species which differ in relation to their ecological functions. The comparison of the participation of groups of NMDS ordination in relation to the functional group classification Twinspan showed that the study area presents a functional pattern dominated by pioneer species to early secondary, with orthodox anemochoric and germination. The fragment is studied in an early stage of secondary succession, where the different ecological strategies species occupied different positions along the fragment, present trends adaptive species environmental conditions. The results reinforce the hypothesis of the importance of conservation of this fragment Deciduous Forest.

Disserta??o (Mestrado Profissional) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Sa?de, Sociedade e Ambiente, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2016. / The rural communities suffer with health disabilities and usually have less access to health systems compared to urban communities. If these communities are located in conservation units? surroundings, they can exhibit specific familiarities with their localenvironment, such as the main use of native medicinal plants instead the use of cultivated herbal plants. In contrast, these communities can suffer uncertainties about the use of local biodiversity given the present environment policy. There is a belief that popular health practices, such as medicinal plants, can help to improve common illness. The main object is to study the rural communities of Bra?nas and Lagoa da Pedra according to the following socialeconomics and health aspects: family composition, educational level, active work force, food production and extrativism, workers? health and popular health practices. These two communities are situated at the northeast of Minas Gerais State and within the Alto Jequitinhonha mesoregion, proximally 100 km from Diamantina, MG . and 20 km from Senador Mour?o District. They are also located in a buffer zone of Sempre Vivas National Park and within the biome transition zone of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. Between January and April/2016 structured questionnaires were applied on 36 households, in which inhabit 120 dwellers. These communities cultivate manly beans in the rivers margins and this activity is the main source of local income. The interviewers mostly cultivated vegetables (72%) or other kind of crops (97%) and farm animals or pets (94%) in their backyards for selfpreservation. Almost all houses were made of adobe, covered by clay tiles and cement floor and the main lack of environmental sanitation condition found is rudimentary cesspits. The communities have familiarities with local environment and in this case, 139 medicinal plants were described by interviewers, such as their extraction location, how to prepare and their therapeutics indications. The main illness concerns investigated in this study are common to other Brazilians? rural communities, such as intestinal parasites and accidents with venomous animals. Besides these illnesses, hypertension, skin rashes and breathing problems also occur frequently.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? It was also verified the influence of different compositions of substrates and levels of solar reduction under the emergence of seedlings and growth of seedlings via sexual propagation and the viability of the technique of minicache in the asexual propagation of R. grandis, submitted to different concentrations of the regulator of indolebutyric acid (IBA) growth. Seed collection occurred in 18 matrix trees established in flooded Forest Mills located in Biribiri State Park, Diamantina, MG, and all experiments were conducted in Forest Nursery and Seed Laboratory belonging to the Integrated Center for the Propagation of Forest Species ( CIPEF-UFVJM). The morphological and biometric characterization of fruits and seeds was by naked eye observations and measurements using a universal caliper. In order to observe the physiological behavior, freshly harvested seeds of this species were stored in paper bags in the open air and germinated and tested (%) periodically. The morphofunctional characteristics were observed in the laboratory and in the greenhouse by means of a developmental process (from root protrusion, emergence until the first protophyte). Three compositions of substrates and three levels of shading were used to test the effect of these combinations on the quality of R. grandis young seedlings. The height, collection diameter, number of leaves , total chlorophyll and dry biomass. Finally, the base of apical cuttings from young saplings rescued in the natural environment of R. grandis, were emerged in four concentrations of IBA and evaluated at 90 days, measuring the increase in height and diameter, survival (%), rooting (% ), calogenia (%) and sprouts (%). It should be noted that for all experiments, the basic principles of experimentation (repetition, randomization and local control) were met using different experimental designs. Different tools for statistical analysis were also used to aid in decision making. The fruit of R. grandis is simple, dry, capsule type, dehiscent, with an average length of 16.24 mm and an average width of 8.57 mm. The seed is ellipsoid with presence of sarcotesta, presenting an average length of 7.40 mm and an average width of 4.57 mm. R. grandis presents recalcitrant seeds, the emergence is of the Fanero-epigene-foliaceous type, and the development process for the seed becomes a complete seedling delonged for at least 50 days. The substrates composed of different proportions of vermiculite, rice husk and Bioplant ?, associated with shading 30 and 50% were responsible for promoting R. grandis seedlings of better quality. The technique of vegetative propagation by minicutting is feasible, since there was a 100% survival and a high percentage of rooting even for the treatment without addition of AIB.

It was guided by the following hypothesis: the composition of the fish communities varies in agreement with the position of the pools; in other words, with or without permanent ocean connection. To test the validity of this hypothesis, the fish abundance was estimated in the connected pools (Barretinha/Barreta Falsa) and unconnected ones (Cemiteriozinho/?ncoras), carrying an ecological characterization of the fishes that inhabit these pools. Additionally, the structural complexity of the sampled places was also evaluated intending to verify the variations of the abundance and diversity of fishes in function to this factor. By the fact of this research was being carried out through the limits of a conservation unit, the samples was realized using visual census techniques. The results generated through uni and multivariate analytic techniques allowed the evidence that decisive factor in the density, richness and diversity variations of fishes are linked to the substratum type (Hard / Soft bottom) and not by the fact that the pool are or are not connected permanently to the ocean. In relation to the structural complexity; 58% of the variations in the diversity of fishes were attributed to changes in the structural complexity, while 12% of the variations in the abundance were attributed to the structural complexity / Este trabalho realizado no Atol das Rocas (3? 51 S; 33? 49 W), o ?nico atol do Atl?ntico Sul e a primeira ?rea marinha protegida brasileira, foi norteado pela hip?tese de que: a composi??o das comunidades de peixes varia de acordo com a posi??o das piscinas; ou seja, com ou sem conex?o permanente com o oceano.

In the Atlantic Forest of the Brazilian Northeast, the most of the damages come from the sugar-cane agro-industry, especially by the deforestation for the introduction of sugar-cane fields and installation of the industry structure. Besides the damages over the biodiversity, there are critical social problems that affect the communities which survive using directly or indirectly the biome from the Atlantic Forest. The objective of this research is to analyze the social impacts on the fishermen of Ba?a Formosa/RN generated by the changes and socio-environmental transformations occurred starting the installation of a sugar-cane factory and the creation of a conservation area in the municipality of Ba?a Formosa/RN community. The research is based on a qualitative and diachronic perspective, for both approach, it was used the method of oral history in conjunction with the literature search and some technical and research tools such as direct observation, interview, records images and recordings . The results show that social and symbolic practices of the community in the conservation unit Mata Estrela last more strongly presented. Today fewer natural resources are used, due to factors such as limit access to forest and disappearance of some natural resources by deforestation. It is believed that the loss of free access to space for the community is the most significant negative impact, as promoted changes in the relationship of the community with the Star Forest that contributed to the fading of their social and symbolic practices. The loss of free access caused the decline in the practice of agriculture, which resulted in the loss of one of the means of social reproduction of the community / As unidades de conserva??o surgiram em resposta aos danos ambientais.

Despite these are areas for environmental conservation, practice of environmental education, scientific research and contemplation of the nature in its primary or in a similar condition, the practice of touristic activity does not often meet these aims. The main aim of this research was to evaluate the touristic activities and the actions of territorial management in the State Park of Pedra da Boca (PEPB), situated in the city of Araruna/PB. According to the results, the PEPB has in its territorial area a porphyritic granite rock set, whose geological and geomorphologic settings are unique and have scenic value. It is also home of flora and fauna endemic species and representative of the savanna biome. The data and information achieved show that the Park has a remarkable potential for tourism, especially ecotourism, however, there is a need for development of territorial management actions, in order to subsidize the use of spatial tourism site / As Unidades de Conserva??o, principalmente os parques nacionais e estaduais, est?o entre as principais destina??es do turismo de aventura e do ecoturismo. / The Brazilian Atlantic Forest, currently only about 11.73% of its original vegetation, is one of the world's biodiversity hotspots, housing endangered animals and plants, great wealth and species endemism. The situation of fragmentation in which it finds itself is even more critical in its northern portion. Protected Areas, in particular Conservation Units (UCs), are the main forms of biodiversity conservation, through national and international efforts. In addition to the creation of PAs, the effectiveness of these areas is essential and, in case of extensive fragmentation, the creation of ecological corridors interconnecting protected areas to enable gene flow between species is relevant. Most UCs created in Brazil are not effective, and the difficulty in managing UCs constitutes a serious impediment to Conservation. In this scenario and in order to collaborate in the achievement of goals 11 and 12 of Aichi, as well as support one of the objectives of the National Plan of Action (NAP) for the Conservation of the Northeastern Atlantic Forest Herpetofauna, this study had as objectives , To analyze strategies for the implementation of viable public policies and instruments for the creation of ecological corridors in a protected area of the Northern Atlantic Forest; Analyze the fulfillment of legal requirements in favor of the creation and implementation of Conservation Unit in Atlantic Forest Northeastern; (PEMP) as a case study because it is one of the largest remnants of the Atlantic Forest in the RN, whose Management Plan provides for an ecological corridor area and, despite Created more than 10 years ago, has not yet been implemented. This is a qualitative study, whose data approach was divided into two complementary stages. At first, conceptual documentary analysis and observation of the PEMP was carried out as emblematic situation. For the interpretation of the data the argumentative analysis technique was used. In the categorization of the data we used arguments based on socio-environmental foundations, sustainable development and legal and environmental principles. For the analysis of the strategies to the corridor implementation, the idea of proposition was used, the laws being used as data and the juridical-environmental principles as guarantee. Also as a guarantee was adopted the exemplification of corridors planned for the PEMP. In a second moment, the emblem case was studied through documentary analysis, individual semi-structured interviews, focus group and participant observation during meetings of the Management Council in the years 2016 and 2017.1. It was found that the promotion of sustainable development as a way to conserve the Atlantic Forest is the essence of the law governing the biome - unique with a specific legal regime. It is fundamental to institute public policies that provide effectiveness to legal controls in order to prevent the succession of the degradation scenario of this biome, and to enable the increase of the existing percentage interconnecting its remnants. As for resource funds, their managers should pay attention to the Northern Atlantic Forest, reducing regional asymmetries in investments; The environmental agencies must elaborate projects for beneficiation. It was verified that the environmental agency fulfilled the requirements for the establishment of the PEMP, but the celerity compromised the result; The fulfillment of legal obligations with guarantee of its effectiveness, reduces the possible obstacles to the implementation of this CU; The occurrence of advances in the implementation of the UC due to judicial decision and ethical commitment of the Management Council and the Manager of the UC. The creation of created UC is a legal duty based on art. 2 of Law 6938/81 in art. 225 of the Federal Constitution - CF, in art. 4 of Law 9985/2000 and in the principle of prevention (implicitly enshrined in article 225, caput of the CF). It was also verified that the biggest problem for the lack of efficiency is structural, organizational of the Public Administration and the Judiciary, and the lack of prioritization in the political will. Obstacles encountered are common to the state NRCs. It is essential, urgent and fundamental that the environmental issue is seen and treated as an investment and not as an additional expense. Anthropocentric and exclusionary attitudes present a serious risk to the survival of humanity itself.
