Le rôle des technologies d'information et de communication (TIC) dans la contruction des nouvelles diasporas : le cas de la diaspora Ouïghoure / The role of the ICT in the construction of new diasporas : the Uyghur case

Cette thèse s’intéresse aux rôles des TIC dans la constitution de la diaspora ouïghoure. L’approche sociologique choisie a permis d’aborder cette question sous l’angle politique et communicationnelle mais aussi historique et géographique et de prendre en compte tant les aspects idéologiques, sociaux qu’institutionnels et organisationnels. Les communautés ouïghoures à l’étranger commencent à être visibles et créent des organisations officielles représentant leur cause. La première partie met en évidence un réseau complexe constitué des communautés ouïghoures institutionalisées qui sont en interaction entre elles et avec le pays d’origine à travers les TIC, le Congrès Mondial Ouïghour rassemblant la majorité de ces associations. La deuxième partie montre à travers les analyses quantitatives et qualitatives de la cartographie du web ouïghour 2010 et 2016, l’apport et des limites des TIC dans le processus de construction de la diaspora. Cette analyse croisée a permis dans la troisième partie de comprendre et d’interpréter les formes d’identités qui se construisent : identité ethno-nationale ou ethno-culturelle ou ethno- religieuse, et les compromis sociaux qui tentent de se déterminer par des processus de négociation dans l’espace virtuel et au sein des institutions. Ce travail de recherche dévoile les différentes finalités recherchées par les acteurs tant officiels que lambda et de voir dans quelle mesure de nouvelles formes de régulations sont susceptibles d’aboutir à un nouveau compromis entre les acteurs. Mais pour l’instant, il n’existe ni de stratégie commune, en particulier vis-à-vis des politiques à tenir face à la Chine, ni une identité commune, mais des identités de la migration ouïghoure. / This thesis focuses on the constitutive role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the Uyghur diaspora. The sociological approach adopted in this thesis not only examines the aspects of politics and communication of this issue, but also allows a historical and geographical study which also takes into account the ideological, social, institutional and organizational points of view, as Uyghur communities abroad start to be visible and create formal organizations representing their cause. The first section of the thesis highlights, through ICT, a complex network of institutionalized Uyghur communities that interact with each other and their countries of origin, and demonstrates that the World Uyghur Congress is the most dominant of these associations. The second section shows, through quantitative and qualitative analysis of the mapping of the Uyghur web in 2010 and in 2016, the contributions and limitations of ICT in the diaspora construction process. This cross analysis sheds light in the third section on the forms of identities that are constructed, such as ethno-national, ethno-cultural or ethno-religious identity, and the social compromises tentatively formed through the negotiation process in virtual space and in the institutions. This study reveals the different purposes sought by both official and lambda actors and examines how new forms of regulation are likely to reach a new compromise between the actors. Presently, however, there is neither a common strategy, particularly vis-a-vis the political dealings with China, nor a common identity, but different identities of the Uyghur migration.

In this sense, the Public Library, as institution that collect culture should contemplate the development of collections compromised with the local community's culture, making available a space in the society where the individual can exercise its creativity and the exaltation of his/her citizenship, contributing like this to the elaboration and preservation of the local cultural identity. To identify the way for which fellow creature process if it renders, it is made a historical rising of the appearance of the Public Libraries in Brazil, being drawn a parallel one among BP idealized by M?rio of Andrade and the characterization of the performance of first BP of Esp?rito Santo State. Esta pesquisa analisou uma rede de pessoas de uma mesma família de descendentes de imigrantes originada de um encontro entre descendentes de japoneses e italianos, sendo que o objetivo da pesquisa foi estudar, sob a perspectiva da memória coletiva e das identidades culturais, os processos de construção de identidades dos sujeitos inseridos nesta rede, identidades essas examinadas em termos de sua origem migratória. Optou-se pelo método da história oral para analisar os conflitos e as negociações identitárias pelas quais passou cada membro da família, revelados através da análise das narrativas de vida de dezenove pessoas entrevistadas, que compõem três gerações da família fruto da união entre Concetta Campopiano, uma neta de imigrantes italianos, e Mituioce Sumida, um filho de imigrantes japoneses, os dois nascidos no Estado de São Paulo na década de 1920. Somou-se o fato do pesquisador ser também um membro da família, neto do casal que gerou o grupo estudado, o que acrescentou um desafio teórico-metodológico à pesquisa / This research analyzes a network of people from the same family of descendants of immigrants originated from a meeting between Italian and Japanese descendants, and the purpose of the study is to analyze, from the perspective of collective memory and cultural identity, the processes of building the identities of the subjects inserted in this group, being these identities examined in terms of their migratory origin. It was opted for the oral history method to analyze the conflicts and identity negotiations lived by each family member, revealed by the analysis of life narratives of nineteen people interviewed, who make up three generations of the studied family, as a result of the union between Concetta Campopiano, a granddaughter of Italian immigrants, and Mituioce Sumida, a son of Japanese immigrants, both born in São Paulo in the 1920s. It was added the fact that the researcher is also a family member, grandson of the couple who generated the study group, a fact that adds a theoretical - methodological research challenge

國民教育階段中的宗教自由─多元文化主義的觀點 / Religious freedom in mandated education context─a multiculturalism perspective

本論文係從多元文化主義之觀點來探討國民教育階段中的宗教自由。我國憲法第159條規定:「國民受教育之機會一律平等」。然而學生在教育過程中實質的平等受教育機會卻與其文化認同有密切的關係。如果學生的獨特文化認同不能在主流教育體制中受到尊重與接納,連帶的也會影響其學習上的成功機會。而透過對於法律「兼顧容納宗教自由」之案例的反省與分析,本論文引出了「宗教也是一深刻文化認同」之看法。筆者根據此一看法來重新思索宗教與國民教育之關係,並認為在憲法基本權利的層次,為了兼顧容納信徒基於宗教認同所產生之需求,我們必須承認「宗教學生平等受教育的權利」與「父母宗教教育之自由」。然而國家在國民教育階段中兼顧容納宗教自由,除了不應違背「政教分離」原則之外,也應以「民主教育」作為兼顧容納之重要界限。以上述想法為基礎,本論文也於最後具體探討我國的教育規範與教育實踐應如何作出調整,以建構一個兼顧信仰與學習的教育環境。 / This dissertation discussed religious freedom in mandated education context from a multiculturalism perspective. Article 159 of ROC Constitution provides, “The educational opportunities of citizens are equal.” Understood in a subjective sense, equal educational opportunities of students have much to do with their cultural identities. If a student’s unique cultural identity cannot be respected and accommodated in mainstream education system, his or her opportunities to success in the education process will be limited seriously. Through the discussion of cases of “accommodation of religious freedom”, this dissertation tried to propose the view that religion is also a profound cultural identity. Accordingly, the author indicated that in order to accommodate believers religious identity, “the equal educational rights of religious students” and “the freedom of religious education of parents” should be recognized in mandated education context. However, the efforts to accommodate religious freedom should also be balanced by the principles of democratic education, in addition to the requirements of secularism in public schools. Based on the ideas mentioned above, this dissertation reviewed educational regulations and practices in Taiwan in the final section, and proposed the ways to construct a education environment in which both the believers’ needs to learn and to develop religious identity can be respected and attended properly.

Experiences of Social Inequalities Related to Skin Colour Enhaced by Fashion Magazines in South Africa : A case study on how women in South Africa identify themselves in relation to the representation of race in South African fashion magazines

This study was carried out during the spring of 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa with a Minor Field Study (MFS) scholarship funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). South Africa is a country with a complex society due to the still recent history of Apartheid. South Africa faces great challenges with the gap between rich and poor, high unemployment and deep expertise gaps between the white minority and the historically disadvantaged coloureds and black majority. As a result the contemporary situation is extensive segregation and difficulties for the multicultural population to conduct a common cultural identity. The aim of this study was to find out how four South African issues of international fashion magazines deals with the representation of black, white and coloured people. Furthermore, to find out how South African women from socially diverse areas experience and perceive this representation. Quantitative content analysis, connotative and denotative picture analysis and the conduction of interviews was made in order to reach a result. Consequently, it turned out that the investigated magazines do not present a fair and equal representation of the South African society, hence highly over representing the white minority in each magazine. Additionally, South African women do not describe the fashion magazines as presenting an equal representation of race, neither that a reality based ideal is being conveyed.

Die Praxis der interkulturellen Musikpädagogik verfolgt Ziele und Absichten auf einer sachbezogenen, einer musikpraktischen., einer reflektierenden und einer kompetenzorientierten Ebene. Die Theorie der interkulturellen Musikpädagogik hinterfragt dazu die relevanten Begriffe und Bedeutungszuweisungen, die mit diesen Zielen verbunden sind und versucht ihre Verwendungsweisen zu klären. Vor allem in der Auseinandersetzung mit einem bedeutungsorientierten Kulturbegriff, den die Autorin bereits in früheren Publikationen als Grundlage für die Inszenierung interkultureller Bildungsprozesse vorgeschlagen hat, wird deutlich, dass kulturelle Zugehörigkeitsgefühle konstruiert sind, dass vor allem in multikulturellen Gesellschaften kulturelle Zuordnungen sowie Abgrenzungen nicht als Folge von Enkulturationsprozessen (also dem Hineinwachsen in eine bestimmte Kultur), sondern im Kontext flexibler Identitätsbildungen zu erklären sind. Auch in den drei auf der Tagung besprochenen Schulstunden finden kulturelle Konstruktionsprozesse und interkulturelle Begegnungen statt, ohne dass sie expliziter Unterrichtsinhalt wären. Die Analyse ausgewählter Unterrichtssequenzen zeigt, wie in diesen didaktisch nicht gestalteten interkulturellen Situationen ungelöste Fragen und Probleme auftreten. Um dies zu vermeiden werden Handlungsalternativen vorgeschlagen, wie durch mehr Aufmerksamkeit und geringfügig veränderten unterrichtlichen Inszenierungen kulturelle Fremdzuschreibungen im Sinne von Ethnisierungen und Stigmatisierungen verhindert und ein differenzierterer Blick auf Inhalte erreicht werden kann. / The praxis of intercultural music education/pedagogy has an agenda and objectives on an issue-related, a reflective and a competence-oriented level as well as on the level of music practice. The theory of intercultural music education/pedagogy questions the relevant terms and allocation of meaning which are associated with these objectives and tries to clarify the manner of applying them. Especially in the examination of a meaning-oriented culture concept, which has already been proposed by the author in previous publications as the basis of an orchestration/organization of intercultural educational processes, it becomes clear that cultural sense of membership is constructed. Cultural attribution as well as demarcation in multicultural societies are to be explained not as a result of enculturation processes (that is the growing into a particular culture), but rather in the context of flexible identity formation. Also in the three lessons discussed at the symposium, cultural construction processes and intercultural encounters take place without being explicitly part of tuition. The analysis of selected class sequences shows how unsolved questions and problems arise in these didactically non-arranged situations. In order to avoid this, action alternatives are suggested; it is proposed how cultural ascription in the sense of ethnicization and stigmatization can be avoided and how a more differentiated view on contents can be achieved by the means of more attention and marginally modified tuition organization.

This study analyses two non-western novels used in the subject of Swedish in upper secondary school: Fatou Diomes The Belly of the Atlantic and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichies Half a Yellow Sun. Looking at how the books female main character relate to Stuart Halls theory of cultural identity, I come to the conclusion that they somewhat differently relate to an essential ”authentic” self. Salie talks explicit about a generic African soul that she possesses. Olanna never talks about anything ”authentic”, but her narrative and contrary subject positions can be read as a way of demasking her European ”white” self in favour of a truer Igbo self. I also come to the conclusion that both novels use themes of alienation related to gender structures and positioned westernness and that this kind of reading could contribute to interesting classroom discussions about a dynamic interpretation on culture and identity.

Sebbene la presenza dei figli degli migranti stia assumendo sempre maggior rilievo anche in Italia la ricerca ha posto poca attenzione alle loro scelte di consumo mediale e all’appropriazione dei media come risorse sociali ed ambientali. La tesi si focalizza sul caso delle giovani donne di origine araba per indagare il ruolo giocato dal consumo di notizie nella cornice più complessa dei processi di negoziazione di identità. Un focus è riservato alle tre dimensioni di appartenenze, partecipazione e trasmissione culturale tra generazioni – in relazione alle madri e ai coetanei. Un’indagine, a livello più “macro”, indaga le possibili implicazioni per il dialogo interculturale. Attraverso la raccolta di quarantotto storie di vita un primo livello di analisi diacronico indaga presenza e intensità del consumo di news nelle fasi della vita per comprendere se possa rappresentare un rito di passaggio all’età adulta, mentre una seconda pista cerca di comprendere come esso si leghi alla questione del sentirsi “cittadini”, in termini di riconoscimento, appartenenza e per scoprire se il consumo di news possa diventare una risorsa per essere soggetti attivi nella sfera pubblica. Tutte le giovani donne di origine araba vivono a Milano, hanno tra i diciotto e i trentadue anni e differiscono per le variabili di 1) nascita o arrivo in Italia dopo i 6 anni; 2) attivismo e 3) religiosità (musulmane, copte ortodosse, atee). / Although the presence of migrants’ sons and daughters is gaining more and more importance also in Italy, the research have not given special attention to their choices concerning media consumption and to the appropriation of the media as social and environmental resources. This thesis is focused on the case of young women of Arab origin in order to investigate the intersections between news consumption and the negotiation of the social identity. A first focus is on three dimensions: participation, belonging and cultural transmission – in comparison with mothers and peers. A second “macro” level of the research investigates the implications as regard to intercultural dialogue. Through the collection of forty-eight life histories, a first level of diachronic analysis investigates the presence and the intensity of news consumption in different stages in order to understand if it could be a rite of passage to the adulthood, while a second track tries to understand how this is connected to the feeling of being “citizens”, in terms of identification, belonging and to investigate if news consumption may be a resource to be active citizens in the public sphere. All young women of Arab origin live in Milan, they are between eighteen and thirty-two years old, and differ in variables 1) they were born or arrived in Italy since they were 6 years old, 2) activism and 3) religion (Muslims, Coptic Orthodox or atheists).

Croyances religieuses, développement économique et identité socioculturelle des libanais

Ce mémoire de maitrise porte sur l’étude de la relation entre les croyances religieuses, le développement économique et l’identité socioculturelle des libanais. Ce sujet est suscité par deux approches : une approche conceptuelle relatant le lien entre la religion et le développement économique, et une approche révélant le rapport entre les trois éléments du sujet et imposant une observation rigoureuse des libanais du Liban et des libanais de Montréal. Deux types d’études empiriques sont envisageables afin d’expliquer le rapprochement entre les trois éléments du sujet : des études visant à tester le lien entre la religion et le développement au Liban et à Montréal et des études traitant la problématique identitaire. Les analyses historiques, sociologiques et empiriques invoquées dans notre projet démontrent qu’en général il existe une corrélation entre la religion et le développement. Nos enquêtes soulignent que cette corrélation est tout de même vérifié chez les libanais. Les points de vue culturel et religieux attestent que la religion et la famille constituent deux éléments indissociables de l’identité socioculturelle des libanais. La religion est une valeur qui peut influencer le choix du consommateur libanais. En effet, une relation de réciprocité est établie entre ces deux éléments. Les études, menées au Liban et à Montréal, soulignent aussi que le degré de religiosité peut déterminer certains comportements sociaux; ceci crée un enchainement entre le comportement social d’un libanais, ses appartenances religieuses qui reflètent son identité, et le développement économique. Ainsi, Les croyances religieuses endoctrinent le développement économique au plan macroéconomique et au plan microéconomique. Une relation s’installe entre le spirituel et la science économique. / This thesis focuses on the study of the relationship between religious beliefs, economic development and socio-cultural identity of Lebanon. This topic is generated by two approaches: a conceptual approach to describing the relationship between religion and economic development, and an approach to revealing the relationship between the three elements of the subject and requiring strict adherence to the Lebanese in Lebanon and the Lebanese in Montreal. Two types of empirical studies are possible to explain the relation between the three elements of the subject: studies to test the link between religion and development in Lebanon and Montreal and studies dealing with the issue of identity. Historical, sociological and empirical analyses show that there is in general a correlation between religion and development. Our investigations point out that this correlation is still checked in Lebanon. The cultural and religious views show that religion and family are two inseparable elements of the socio-cultural identity of Lebanese. Religion is a value that can influence consumer choice Lebanese. Indeed, a reciprocal relationship is established between the two. Studies conducted in Lebanon and Montreal also highlight that the degree of religiosity may determine some social behaviors; this creates a chain between the social behavior of a Lebanese, his religious affiliations that reflect his identity, and economic development.
