Introduction. I report an investigation designed to identify the contemporary role of digital resources for information retrieval, such as Alex Author-dictionary. This study proposes that it is essential to see digital resources and their specific place within contemporary structures for information retrieval, that digital resources relate to a broader context. My focus is facts beyond giving patrons access to a specific type of information about authors. Method. This case study uses integration of qualitative content analysis from interviewees with data analysis. A pre-search interview and data-analysis along with follow-up interviews established some interesting perspectives on Alex Author-dictionary as well as aspects on digital resources for information retrieval. Transcripts of the interviews formed the data for analysis. Analysis. Qualitative analyses were carried out from two preparatory email-interviews, one with the editor and one with a person who writes for Alex. Another pre-search interview and two following interview sessions, one with a school librarian and another with a public librarian, were conducted. Results. It proved possible to demonstrate that Alex Author-dictionary as such has its benefits compared to sources from the internet. The results derive from and agree with some previous studies, especially that there is a where, when and how to use different resources. The web for example could advantageously give patrons access to other formats such as video interviews etc. that the library doesn’t hold. Conclusion. I identify a need to enlarge the scope of how patrons teach users. Users of all ages would be benefited from knowing when to use Google and when benefited using other digital resources of information retrieval. This sound awareness is directly related to users need to develop skills, and then interpret their own actual information literacy. This could take place either in sessions of user education at the library, or from teachers in a school environment.

A big part of software development is testing and quality assurance. At the department of service market, Scania R&D, the software Scania Diagnose and Programmer 3 (SDP3) is developed and tested. The quality assurance is conducted by internal and external testing. However, the external testing of SDP3 lacks guidelines for measuring the quality of a field test. The purpose of this project was to create and implement a framework for the field test process of SDP3. This framework is later used to determine the quality of a field test. To create the framework, literature study, interviews and workshops were conducted. The workshops laid the foundation of the framework, and the interviews were used to specify the parameters in the framework. For the implementation of the framework studies were done to analyse the available data, later the framework was implemented into the data base management system Splunk as a real time Dashboard. The results of this study describes a framework that can be used to determine the quality of a field test. Unfortunately the whole framework could not be implemented into Splunk since all data needed could not be accessed through Splunk, instead, recommendations were made.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the subject indexing in the bibliographic databaseKVINNSAM at Kvinnohistoriska samlingarna. the documentation and information centre·of Women's studies in Sweden.The focus of the study is the list of index terms produced at this centre. The paper tries to answer the following questions: a) How has the indexing developed? b) How can it be improved? c) Is there a need for feminist indexing? The method of the study is primarily observations and interviews. Texts and ideas by Birger Hj¢rland, D. C. Blair, Joan K. Marshall and others are used as a background. Women's studies in Sweden is described as a domain of its own. Women's studies often has difficulties in finding its literature because many systems for orga­nising and retrieving knowledge are sexist.The list of index terms is non-hierarchical and consists of about 2000 terms. These have been studied regarding form, scope notes, language, context, etc. The paper also suggests some improvements.

Varett will use the website to reach out for a larger group of customers and also for promoting new products. I have develop this site mainly using ASP, MS Access and HTML. </p><p>I have also developed a graphic profile for the company to use at the homepage and at other commercial products. <p>This is a degree work, connected to the education Media and Communication engineering at the University of Linköping, and is made for TEFK a furnishing company in Sjövik. The purpose of this degree project is to create a visual identity and to develop a databasedriven website. The goal was to clarify the visual identity and to build an appealing website that could be administrated by the company. They had a need to present their products and to let their customers be able to order directly through their website. The website also had to serve as a part of the marketing by informing the visitors about the company.</p><p>The result became a website developed in ASP.NET that presents the company and its products and lets the costumers place orders. Further they now have an interface for easy management of the website and its content. The company has guidelines on how to produce graphical content. On the basis of these guidelines we produced a new businesscard and document templates for common communication.</p><p>In the end both we and the company are very satisfied with the result with this degree project. This thesis describes the work that has been done.</p>

<p>System som bygger på en underliggande databas behöver ett abstraktionslager mellan databasen och applikationen. Detta kallas för systemets datalager.</p><p>Det är inte ovanligt att en stor del av programmerarnas tid går åt för att skriva programkod som hanterar datalagrets egenheter och för att transformera data mellan applikationen och datalagret.</p><p>I ett objektorienterat datalager kan systemets domänmodell integreras i datalagret så att det blir betydligt enklare och mer effektivt att arbeta med. Ett objektorienterat datalager låter dessutom applikationen navigera mellan objekten i databasen som om hela objektgrafen vore tillgänglig i applikationens primärminne. Hur information hämtas, när den hämtas och precis vilken information som hämtas från databasen är transparent för applikationen.</p><p>Det är också transparent när uppdateringar som görs på objekt i applikationens primärminne når den underliggande databasen. Datalagret ger garantin att alla objekt, som förändrats inom loppet av en transaktion och som är nåbara via navigering från något objekt i databasen, kommer att finnas i databasen med korrekt tillstånd då transaktionen avslutas.</p><p>Ett objektorienterat datalager erbjuder således en striktare form av abstraktion än vad ett traditionellt datalager gör.</p><p>Inom ramen för examensarbetet har jag utvecklat en prototyp av ett objektorienterat datalager, och i den här rapporten presenterar jag: några allmänna koncept som rör datalager i allmänhet och objektorienterade datalager i synnerhet; hur dessa koncept kan designas; samt en kort översikt av prototypen.</p>

The Lugnetgymnasium in Falun has a graphic education that supplies a color printer, which is availablefor the students in their hall. The printer is a Ricoh AFC 6513 and it is a model that can handlevariable data. It was bought in the autumn of 2002. The teachers of the graphic education want to makeuse of the variable data function and procure a variable data software. The purpose of this project is toevaluate variable data software’s, so that the most suitable choice of software can be made for the graphiceducation. To be able to make this choice, criterions has been made what the variable data softwarewill fulfil. Different software’s of variable data has been examined and a summary was made whichtells what software that fulfils all the criterions. The software’s that seemed appropriate for the graphiceducation were PrintShop Mail and Personalizer-X. Adecision which one of these software’s thatwill be purchase was made by the teachers on the graphic education. Tests and a more detailed studyon the software’s have been done. The information has later been presented for the teachers. They madea decision, which were Personalizer-X. After this decision, an easier manual for Personalizer-X wasmade. The purpose with the manual is that the students on the graphic education, quickly and easy canget started with the use of variable data.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how high school students (age 13 to 19) search for information on the web and in databases. Furthermore, it aims to look into how critical of sources they are. The questions asked was: how the students search for information in digital media? Which kind of sources do the students use? How they evaluate the information they find? Do they get any education in information retrieval and source evaluation? To answer these questions students were interviewed in groups about their information retrieval behavior. Furthermore two school librarians were interviewed about their experience of the students’ information retrieval.During the interviews it was clear that the students had received quite sparse instructions on the subjects of information retrieval and criticism of the sources. Some students did not even know what the latter was. Their methods for information retrieval were quite simple and, especially in the case of the younger students, without much thought behind. Their main strategy seemed to be Google and Wikipedia.From the interviews with the school librarian I learned that one of the reasons the students do not receive instructions in the above mentioned subjects is the lack of interest from the teachers. The librarians thought that the solution was to build up a stronger relationship with the teachers.

Detta dokument tar upp hur ett avancerat webbshopssystem kan utvecklas. Jag har dels granskat den teoretiska aspekten, dels utvecklat ett webbshopssystem från grunden, vilket har gjorts utbyggbart genom att det består av en grundstomme och tilläggsmoduler. Funktioner som är icke önskvärda i en viss webbshop men användbara i en annan ska därmed kunna läggas till vid behov, utan kunskap om programmering. I rapporten diskuteras även hur webbshopssystemets datamodell kan representeras som relationer, med fokus på relationsdatabashanteraren MySQL. Detta görs för att visa hur valet av datamodell och fysisk modell kan påverka systemets utformning, samt vilka möjliga problem eller fallgropar som kan uppstå till följd av detta val. Rapporten diskuterar även säkerhets- och sekretessfrågor. Då det är viktigt att identifiera och förebygga säkerhetsbrister i öppna system som webbshopar diskuteras bland annat hantering av personuppgifter och metoder för att kryptera och hantera lösenord. Avslutningsvis följer en beskrivning av arbetet med det webbshopssystem som jag har utvecklat för att visa hur teorin kan tillämpas i praktiken, och hur man gradvis kan gå från ett enklare till ett mer komplext webbshopssystem.
