La mise à l'épreuve du discours référentiel dans l'œuvre de Boualem Sansal / Tackling a tricky reality : difficulties and strategies in Boualem Sansal’s work

Boualem Sansal entre tardivement en littérature, ce qui lui confère un certain recul sur les difficultés auxquelles se trouvent confrontés le roman algérien francophone de la décennie noire. Aux yeux de l’auteur, la première de ces difficultés serait l’aphasie, corrélative d’un référent aussi opaque que douloureux. Cette aphasie serait aussi la conséquence du relativisme prudent des romanciers démocrates-laïques qui se traduirait, sur un plan littéraire, par des romans muselés par le doute et l’autocensure. Et, quand bien même ces romanciers parviendraient à dépasser l’indicible, un autre écueil les guetterait : leur statut linguistique particulier les exposerait à n’être véritablement reçus ni en Algérie, ni en Occident. L’ensemble de ces phénomènes formerait alors une zone inaccessible. Mû par la volonté de défendre ses convictions de démocrate laïc, l’auteur met tout en œuvre pour entrer dans cette zone. Mais même si, la notoriété venant, il s’ouvre à l’essai ainsi qu’à une abondante parole médiatique pour diffuser l’engagement qui conditionne sa démarche, c’est sur le terrain du roman que s’exerce principalement sa recherche. Le chemin qu’emprunte le roman sansalien passe par une revalorisation complémentaire du discours engagé et de la fiction, entendue comme droit à inventer et à renouer avec tous les plaisirs du romanesque. Décidé à trouver un équilibre entre un roman à thèse autoritariste et un roman sans thèse relativiste, Boualem Sansal théorise également, et ce dès son premier roman, le rôle du lecteur. C’est lui qui, seul, permettrait de sortir véritablement de l’impasse. L’auteur transforme alors son œuvre en une propédeutique qui forme à des pratiques de réception responsables et autonomes, pratiques que le lecteur est invité à réinvestir dans sa vie citoyenne. / Having entered literary world quite lately in his life, Boualem Sansal has benefited from a precious hindsight on the difficulties experienced by Algeria’s black decade novelists. Dealing with an extremely intricate and painful political context that threatened to result in a muffled and self-censored literature, these latter has also had to tackle an awkward position between Algerian and Western countries’ public expectations making them unheard on both sides. Eager to defend and disseminate his secular-democratic vision of the society, Sansal has spared no effort to break with this deadly aphasia. Even if, with increasing recognition, he has decided to explore new forms of expression such as essay and to be more present on the media sphere, he soon realized that the real way-out of impotence is to find precisely in his literary work by reconciling a strongly committed speech with the power of pure literary fiction. Pursuing, novel after novel, his endeavour to reach this zone, he theorises a new key role for his reader to whom he asks to become more autonomous and responsible in his practice. Reading experience thus become a training area to acquire necessary skills for an active citizenship, the only way, in Sansal’s mind, to break general apathy threatening his democratic ideal.

L’objectif de cette Thèse consiste à accroître nos connaissances sur la société argentine par une approche particulière. Nous sommes persuadés que la littérature policière est une métaphore de la société contemporaine et qu’à travers son analyse nous parviendrons à mieux comprendre son fonctionnement. Notre travail ne cherche pas à donner une vision globale du genre mais à confronter la production dans deux étapes critiques de l’histoire argentine : la Décennie Infâme (1930-1943) et la crise postménémiste (de 1999 à nos jours). Suivant le modèle créé par Karl Marx (« Le 18 brumaire de Louis Bonaparte ») nous les avons appelées Tragédie et Farce. En effet, nos recherches nous ont permis de découvrir les résonances qui existent entre les deux périodes. Cette Thèse s’inscrit dans le cadre de la sociocritique. La lecture socio-historique des textes nous fera passer en revue tout le vingtième siècle, des préceptes modernistes du Siècle des Lumières à l’hypermodernisme de Gilles Lipovetsky ou à la modernité liquide de Zygmunt Bauman. Nous avons organisé notre travail selon trois éléments principaux et indissociables : la ville, la figure du détective et la société ; à travers ces pages nous avons suivi leur évolution. / The objective of this Thesis is to increase our knowledge of Argentinian society by a specific approach. We are convinced that detective literature is a metaphor of the contemporary society and that through its analysis we will arrive at a better understanding of it. Our work does not seek to give a comprehensive view of this literature but to confront literary production with two critical periods of Argentinian history: the Infamous Decade (1930-1943) and the post-Menemist crisis. Following the model created by Karl Marx (“The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Napoléon”) we have called them Tragedy and Farce. Our research shows the resonances between these two periods. Our research consists of a sociological approach. A sociohistorical reading of the literary texts brings us to review the whole of the twentieth century, from the modernistic precepts of the Age of Enlightenment to the hypermodernism of Gilles Lipovetsky or the liquid modernity of Zygmunt Bauman. We have organized our work according to three principal and indissociable elements: the city, the figure of the detective and the society; throughout these pages we have followed their evolution.

A década de 1980 ficou conhecida no Brasil como a década perdida. Certamente, os anos 1980 expressaram fortemente o que representou a chamada crise da dívida para os países periféricos, especialmente, os latino-americanos. Os governos da Ditadura militar condicionaram as políticas econômicas para o pagamento da dívida externa. A dívida foi internalizada e estatizada ao longo dos anos 1980, o que deixou o país à beira do colapso, com queda do produto interno, altas taxas de inflação e com o Estado paralisado por conta do endividamento externo e interno. O governo Sarney, apesar de ser o primeiro governo civil após a Ditadura, não foi eleito pelo voto do povo. A transição democrática, feita em comum acordo com os grupos que deixavam o poder, levou à mudança somente na aparência, mas a essência permanecia a mesma. Sarney era presidente do partido (PDS) sucessor da Arena e sustentáculo político civil da Ditadura. Deixou o partido em junho de 1984, portanto, menos de um ano antes de tomar posse como presidente da República, em uma coalização aparentemente de oposição. Assim, essa dissertação busca compreender de que forma as políticas econômicas do governo Sarney também representaram uma continuidade em relação aos governos anteriores, apesar dos sucessivos planos de estabilização, que grande parte da historiografia econômica considerou como não-ortodoxos. / 1980s were recognized as the lost decade. Certainly this period expressed what represented the known debt crisis for underdeveloped countries especially the latin americans. The military government engaged the economical policies to payment of external debt. The debt became public at 1980s and this induced a fall on the internal product, a high inflation rates and had the effect on the State leading to a standstill period caused by the external and internal debts. Sarney was not elected by people vote even he was the first president after military government. The democratic transition period was achieved by pact with the left group power and this fact changed appearance only and not the essence. Sarney was the president of PDS, followed by the Arena witch sustained the military government; he has left this party in June 1984, one year before become president of Republic seeming opposition grouping. This study aim to understand the economical policies of Sarney government is continuing of previous governments although stabilization plans were attempt and that the economical historiography considers as not orthodox.

A partir de uma idÃia de resistÃncia da cultura, proposta por vÃrios autores a respeito da aÃÃo de determinada parcela da intelectualidade brasileira nos anos da ditadura militar, resolveu-se investigar o papel desempenhado por Cacaso no campo intelectual da Ãpoca e, de que forma, sua produÃÃo poÃtica foi tambÃm reflexo e armamento dessas articulaÃÃes de resistÃncia. He was one of the most important authors and characters of the marginal generation in the seventies. Based on the idea of cultural resistance proposed by some authors concerning the action of some part of the Brazillian intellectuality in the period of militar dictatorship, this thesis investigates the role performed by Cacaso in the intellectual environment, and the way his poetic production is considered not only as a reflection, but also as a weapon of those resistance articulations. According to Michel de Certauâs ideas of tactics and resistances, this thesis analyzes the tactics elements assumed by Cacaso in the legitimation course of his generation as well as the elements presented in his poetry and the way they were revealing of those resistance tactics.

We have tried to observe how the dynamic Brazilian economy, in which the Companhia Sider?rgica Nacional (the most important steel mill in the country) has been an important protagonist, since its creation in the 1940?s, related to the ways in which this company engendered its labor force, in clash with workers mobilizations. The most important landmark in this trajectory, after the democratic years (1945-1964), is the fracture caused by the 1964 state coup in the relationship between workers and company. The changes in CSN social policies, as well as the transformations in the economic policies implemented by the new regime, would be subject to a confrontation between different interpretations formulated by distinct agents involved in this process. In our case study, Volta Redonda, we could identify as important actors involved in the social dynamics of those years ? for example, the military ? interpreted the impacts of the coup on the working class. In the other extreme of the process, we have examined the workers experience in the town, in decade of 1970?s, looking for the rearticulation of their identitary references, after those changes in the general context, that indicate the new fractures and amalgamations inside the class occurred from that moment on / Este trabalho ? uma tentativa de articula??o entre as propostas da hist?ria social do trabalho e uma hist?ria social urbana. Pretendeu-se observar como a din?mica econ?mica brasileira, da qual a Companhia Sider?rgica Nacional foi importante protagonista, desde sua cria??o nos anos 40, relacionou-se ? forma como essa ind?stria gestou sua for?a de trabalho, entrando em choque com a mobiliza??o dos trabalhadores. A La Cinquième, canal educativo público, inaugurado em 1994, foi criada com o objetivo de colaborar para suprir as carências educativas francesas e ajudar a retirar o país da crise. O seu surgimento ocorreu em meio a uma reorganização do campo televisivo francês após desarranjos causados pela quebra do monopólio público na década de 1980. O Canal Futura, emissora privada, criada em 1997, possibilitou às Organizações Globo reforçar a imagem de suas empresas, sobremaneira da Rede Globo, dada a simbiose entre as duas emissoras, como eficaz prestadora de serviço social e comprometida com a difusão de conteúdos culturais e educativos para toda a sociedade brasileira. A existência do Canal Futura demonstrava a eficiência do modelo televisivo comercial em garantir produções educativas de qualidade, deslegitimando às experiências públicas em televisão educativa, especificamente a TVE, do Rio de Janeiro e a TV Cultura, de São Paulo. Nesse sentido, buscamos confrontar a hipótese de que a La Cinquième e o Canal Futura, ainda que de naturezas distintas (público e privado), e com atuação em campos televisivos diferentes, enfrentaram, ao longo de suas trajetórias iniciais, os mais variados desafios, muitas vezes com práticas semelhantes, o que confirma a inserção das emissoras no debate internacional, aberto em vários países, sobre as formas de potencializar os usos educativos da televisão na superação das desigualdades socioeconômicas, mas também na exploração do audiovisual educativo um novo nicho de mercado. A La Cinquième e o Canal Futura se utilizaram constantemente do termo conhecimento, estratégia reveladora da busca por uma imagem de inovação frente às representações de que a veiculação de conteúdos educativos na TV seria algo arcaico e tedioso. A difusão do conhecimento assumiria um ar mais leve, arrojado, moderno, ligado ao mundo da descoberta. Por fim, as tanto a La Cinquième quanto o Canal Futura aproximaram-se definitivamente dos elementos consagrados no campo televisivo, o que se expressou na utilização de artistas renomados, gêneros populares e outros formatos ligados ao entretenimento. / This thesis aims to analyze from an historical comparative perspective the role of educational broadcasters in the French and Brazilian television field between 1994 and 2002, having as central axis the social relations that made possible the creation of La Cinquième and Canal Futura. La Cinquième, public education channel, inaugurated in 1994, was created with the objective of supporting and providing resources in order to meet France’s educational needs and help to withdraw its crisis. The foundation of this public education channel arised whilst a reorganization the French television area after the disruption caused by the breaking of public monopoly in the 1980’s.The Canal Futura, private broadcaster, created in 1997, enabled Globo Organizations to reinforce the image of their companies, particularly of Rede Globo, given the symbiosis between the two stations, due to its commitment as an effective social services provider responsible for dissemination of cultural and educational content for brazilian society. The existence of the Canal Futura demonstrated the efficiency of commercial television model as way of guaranteeing educational quality productions, invalidating public experiences in educational television, specifically the TVE, in Rio de Janeiro and TV Cultura, in São Paulo. Therefore, this thesis proposal is to confront the possibility that La Cinquième and Futura, although from different natures (public and private) and acting in different television fields, have both faced, throughout their trajectory, the most various challenges, frequently with similar practices, which confirms the insertion of networks in the international debate, opened in several countries, on ways to enhance the educational uses of television in overcoming the socio-economic inequalities but also in exploring the educational audiovisual a new category of market. La Cinquième and Canal Futura have constantly used the term knowledge, a strategy that reveals the search for an image of innovation in face of representations that the airing of educational content on television would be archaic and tedious. The diffusion of knowledge would embrace a lighter, enterprising, modern air, linked to a world of discovery. Finally, both La Cinquième and Canal Futura got closer to what would become a definitive relation with the elements consacreted in the television field, which has expressed itself through the use of renowned artists, popular genres and other entertainment-related formats. / FAPESP: 2013/17906-2
