Levinsson, Rebecca, Wittzell, Frida January 2017 (has links)
Sammanlagt deltog tretton högskolelärare i studien. / Academic teachers are surrounded by many demands from different directions and a high workload that they need to handle in order to balance their working and personal life. Research is inadequate how academic teachers manage to balance their high workload with their privacy. Purpose: The aim of the study is to illuminate the balance between work and personal life in the higher education sector from a health education perspective. Theoretical reference framework: The theoretical frame of reference consists of a health theoretical point of departure in the demand-control and support model and an educational starting point in adaptation and development- oriented learning. Method: The methodology from which the study is based is of a qualitative nature where the empirical material was collected through three focus group interviews. A total of thirteen college teachers participated in the study. The study commuted between a deductive and inductive mode of work and the material was analyzed by the analysis method categorization. Result: The worksituation of academic teachers is characterized by both organizational and individual requirements and this combination of requirements can create boundless work depending on the individual's personality. In order to handle the demands of academic teachers, they develop different individual strategies. They also experience a high level of control, which is described as both positive and negative as they experience job satisfaction, yet provide high levels of control that they work a lot of overtime and from home. Academic teachers describe shortcomings in social support, since the higher education sector is characterized by highly individual-based tasks and more team- based work is desired. Conclusion: The main conclusion drawn is that the boundary between work and privacy consists of several different boundaries that are difficult to define, and that the attitude of academic teachers is that they adapt and that they accede to the prevailing working conditions instead of counteracting and changing them.

Transforming Corporate Learning using Automation and Artificial Intelligence : An exploratory case study for adopting automation and AI within Corporate Learning at financial services companies / En ny era av utbildning genom automatisering och Artificiell Intelligens : En explorativ fallstudie kring möjligheten att implementera automatisering och AI inom utbildningsorganisationen på finansbolag

Klinga, Petter January 2020 (has links)
As the emergence of new technologies are continuously disrupting the way in which organizations function and develop, the majority of initiatives within Learning and Development (L&D) are far from fully effective. The purpose of this study was to conduct an exploratory case study to investigate how automation and AI technologies could improve corporate learning within financial services companies. The study was delimited to study three case companies, all primarily operating in the Nordic financial services industry. The exploratory research was carried out through a literature review, several indepth interviews as well as a survey for a selected number of research participants. The research revealed that the current state of training within financial services is characterized by a significant amount of manual and administrative work, lack of intelligence within decision-making as well as a non-existing consideration of employee knowledge. Moreover, the empirical evidence similarly reveled a wide array of opportunities for adopting automation and AI technologies into the respective learning workflows of the L&D organization within the case companies.

The challenges experienced by teachers in identifying learners who experience barriers to learning in a rural full-service school in KwaZulu-Natal

Mkhuma, Israel Lindokuhle 12 1900 (has links)
Full-service/inclusive schools are new institutions in South Africa which have been established in terms of the Education White Paper 6 (Department of Education, 2001:22-23) as pilot schools for the rolling out of the Inclusion policy in South Africa. The purpose of this study was to explore the teachers‟ challenges in identifying learners who experience barriers to learning in a rural Full-Service School in KwaZulu-Natal. Teachers in such schools are expected to have skills and knowledge to identify learners and provide support. Most teachers in Full-Service Schools possess qualifications to teach in mainstream schools and depend on the Departmental workshops for the skills needed to identify learners and provide support. The identification of such learners was selected because it is the first step in the process of providing support to learners. Teachers should therefore have skills and knowledge of identifying learners in order to minimise bias, non-identification, over-identification as well as mis-identification. This qualitative study employed a case study design to examine teachers‟ challenges in identifying learners. Six teachers were selected for interviews and the SIAS documents were studied to confirm the findings from interviews. Inductive methods were used to analyse the data. Recommendations for future research studies were made. / Inclusive Education / M. Ed. (Inclusive Education)

To challenge pupils’ ability to write and read in compulsory school for pupils with intellectual disabilities – a qualitative case study originating in the method of “Write to Read”. / Carström, M. & Johansson, C. (2015) To challenge pupils’ ability to write and read in compulsory school for pupils with intellectual disabilities – a qualitative case study originating in the method of “Write to Read”. The purpose of this study is to investigate how four pupils in special schooling’s ability to write and read is possibly affected and developed by working according to the method of “Write to Read” during a period of 8 weeks. The theoretical framework of the study is the sociocultural perspective and it has been chosen according to the approach that learning takes place in interaction with others. The study presents a general view of earlier research of pupils with intellectual disabilities, reading and writing development, reading and writing difficulties, elements of success from teachers working with reading and writing training, pupils’ motivation and participation and with the method of “Write to Read”. By action research in our own classes, we wanted to investigate whether the method of “Write to Read” would be a suitable method to use when trying to develop pupils’ abilities to write and read in Swedish (compulsory) special schools, focusing on pupils with severe intellectual disabilities. We have conducted observations, kept a journal with daily notes, the pupils have been filmed and we have taken photos of our pupils’ work. To sum everything up, our study shows that “Write to Read” combined with training abilities such as knowledge of the letters and of clapping to syllables could be a suitable method within special schools. The result shows that pupils were developing within a number of areas and contributory effects of the study were that our pupils’ motivation and participation increased prominently.
