Derivações da sublimação em Freud / Derivatives of sublimation in Freud´s work

Clarissa Metzger 19 September 2008 (has links)
This papers subject is sublimation in Freuds work. Our main objective was to research the concept of sublimation in Freud, as well as, some of its possible derivation along Freuds work, mainly with the introduction of the death drive at the psychoanalysis field. Therefore, it is emphasized the concept of sublimation and its consequences at what we understand as the Freudian second drives dualism, after 1920. The question that originated this work was: if sublimation is a possible way out and beneficial for forsaking and psychic suffering, why we find writers in our clinic, in institutions and elsewhere struggling with their own forsaking (reaching at the extreme to suicide)? Aiming to answer this question, we endeavor a research about sublimation in Freudian texts, taking into account mainly the second drives theory, in which the new limits found for sublimation could help us to answer the question. To fulfill these objectives we undertook a systematic study of Freuds texts, as well as the literature of renowned commentators of Freuds work. Although it appears here as operators that allows the discussion of sublimation the scientific and intellectual investigation processes, as well as, artistic activities, all of them as possible sublimation manifestation, it was used here, as main operator, the writing. The main derivatives of sublimation explored by us in the second dualism have been the drives defusion and the possible connection between sublimation and psychosis. Here also the writing appears as an important operator. Our result demonstrate that the drives defusion, as a result potentially deconstructive of sublimation, is present in the field of the subjectivity, as well as, in the field of the culture, as death drive defusioned. In the other hand, the vicissitude of drives defusion, as well as, death drive defusioned appears to be a consequence of sublimation, yet little explored by Freuds work commentators. With regard to the connection between sublimation and psychosis, we found that it is effectively possible to think the sublimation in the psychosis, although in a different way than we would think in the neurosis. We conclude that, in order to be able to advance in our discussion, it would be necessary to undertake a bigger span research, which would consider a wider reference than the Freud work only. In this way we could study in a deeper way the possible connection between writing, sublimation and psychosis. The Freud theory allow us to advance until a certain point, but it show us directions that ask for new dialogs.

A menina morta(1970), a novel by the writer Cornélio Penna (1896-1958) was published in 1954 with is basic theme that of death. The story begins with the death of a girl, refered to throughout the narrative as the dead girl, and shows the sufferings of the characters caused by this loss. This study is developed starting out from this question: can literature serve to present, in an aesthetic manner, the images that can speak for themselves alone while science attempts to conceptualize with so many words? The hypothesis raised is that in this novel in a special way, it is possible to reflect on the psychic destruction of the inhabitants of the large farm called Grotão, a physical space where the narrative takes place, and that thinking of this morbid space shown in the work can give us evidence of the behavioral and psychic aspects of a human being faced with death whether it be biological or psychic. The justification for the suggestion of this hypothesis is that the psychic experience of destruction seems to consolidate itself going beyond the mere biological death girl, and revealing inclusively the characters that, as a result of this, show themselves as completely annihilated by the experience. In this sense, the general objective of the investigation is to reflect on the narrative atmosphere of the novel by an analysis of some of the characters, allowing a dialogue in a social and historical perspective and in a special way with psychoanalysis in relationship to the human being and to the reaction to death. It is important to situate the work in its historical and literary context, so as not to risk the classification of the work as a merely novel which is predominantly introspective. The methodology applied in the study is at the same time that of a exploratory, a bibliographical and hermeneutic criticism. Some basic theoretical sources give a foundation of the reflection on death in a social and historical perspective: the studies of Edgar Morin (1997) and of Philippe Ariés (2003), which rely on the psychological theory elaborated by Sigmund Freud (1996). These theories try to understand the human being as a subject when faced with death. To illustrate this psychic representation, the concepts of death drive and of melancholy, as legitimated by the psychoanalysis of Freud, are used. As regards to the melancholic affection, the studies developed by the authors Julia Kristeva (1989) and Marie-Claude Lambotte (1997) complete the reflection.

The purpose of this work is to present the implementation of the speed control and reactive power of a doubly fed induction motor with stator flux orientation, by adjusting of the direct and quadrature-axis rotor current components, being the stator fed by a triphasic network. With this aim, four PI controllers are used: two of them have the function of generating the direct and quadrature references of the rotor current from the direct and quadrature rotor voltage errors and the others two, of generating the direct and quadrature references of the rotor voltage from the direct and quadrature rotor current errors. Experimental results of the motor operating with leading, lagging and unity power factor are presented to validate the proposal. The control algorithm is implemented with a digital signal processor and it has the following functions: lecture of the voltages and currents of rotor, lecture of speed and estimation of rotor position, transformations of variables, implementation of the PI controllers, calculus of magnitude and position of stator flux and space vector modulation / Mestrado / Energia Eletrica / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica

IMPROVEMENTS IN INVERTER MODELING AND CONTROL

Liu, Xiao 01 January 2017 (has links)
In this dissertation, the generalized averaging method models for inverters, reactive power control methods for photovoltaic inverters, and a noise immunity improvement for hybrid position observers for brushless dc motor drives are studied. Models of inverters and other converters based on averaging have been widely used in numerous simulation applications. Generalized averaging can be applied to model both average and switching behavior of converters while retaining the faster run times associated with average-value models. Herein, generalized average models for single- and three-phase pulse width modulation inverters are proposed. The modulation signal for the proposed model could be either a sinusoidal waveform without high order harmonics or a sinusoidal waveform with third-harmonic injection. And this generalized average models also can apply for modeling three-phase pulse width modulation inverters with varying modulation signal frequency in the reference frame. These models are based on a quasi-Fourier series representation of the switching functions that includes fundamental and switching frequency components as well as sideband components of the switching frequency. The proposed models are demonstrated both in simulation and experimentally and are found to accurately portray both the fundamental and the switching behavior of the inverter. In particular, the use of sideband components allows accurate representation of the variation in switching ripple magnitude that occurs in the steady state. The generalized average models are found to have simulation run times that are significantly faster than those associated with detailed models. Therefore, the proposed generalized average models are suitable for simulation applications in which both accuracy (including the switching behavior) and fast run times are required (e.g., long simulation times, systems with multiple converters, and repeated simulations). Variations in the output power of intermittent renewable sources can cause significant fluctuations of distribution system voltage magnitudes. Reactive power control methods that employ the reactive power capability of photovoltaic three-phase inverters to mitigate these fluctuations are proposed. These control methods cause the three-phase inverters to substitute reactive output power for real output power when fluctuations in the solar power are experienced, allowing the fluctuations to be controlled. Performance metrics for assessing the ability of these controllers to perform this mitigation are defined. The controllers are examined using the IEEE 123-bus feeder distribution system, and it is found that the controllers can effectively mitigate voltage magnitude fluctuations and that the appropriate choice of controller depends on the performance metrics of interest. Finally, a noise immunity improvement for hybrid position observers for brushless dc motor drives is proposed. A finite state machine is used to detect Hall-effect sensor transitions to determine if these transitions are true transitions or the result of momentary glitches. This filter causes a delay in the detection of the Hall-effect sensors that is compensated in the proposed observer. The proposed observer is compared in simulations with the original hybrid position observer under both non-noisy and noisy conditions for both constant and variable speed operation, and it has good performance even under high noise and variable speed conditions.

A Vision and Differential Steering System for a Mobile Robot Platform / En vision och differentierad Styrsystem för en mobil robot Plattform

Siddiqui, Abujawad Rafid January 2010 (has links)
Context: Effective vision processing is an important study area for mobile robots which use vision to detect objects. The problem of detecting small sized coloured objects (e.g. Lego bricks) with no texture information can be solved using either colour or contours of the objects. The shape of such objects doesn‟t help much in detecting the objects due to the poor quality of the picture and small size of the object in the image. In such cases it is seen that the use of hybrid techniques can benefit the overall detection of objects, especially, combining keypoint based methods with the colour based techniques. Robotic motion also plays a vital role in the completion of autonomous tasks. Mobile robots have different configurations for locomotion. The most important system is differential steering because of its application in sensitive areas like military tanks and security robot platforms. The kinematic design of a robotic platform is usually based on the number of wheels and their movement. There can be several configurations of wheels designs, for example differential drives, car-like designs, omni-directional, and synchro drives. Differential drive systems use speed on individual channels to determine the combined speed and trajectory of the robot. Accurate movement of the robot is very important for correct completion of its activities. Objectives: A vision solution is developed that is capable of detecting small sized colour objects in the environment. This has also been compared with other shape detection techniques for performance evaluation. The effect of distance on detection is also investigated for the participating techniques. The precise motion of a four-wheel differential drive system is investigated. The target robot platform uses a differential drive steering system and the main focus of this study is accurate position and orientation control based upon sensor data. Methods: For object detection, a novel hybrid method „HistSURF‟ is proposed and is compared with other vision processing techniques. This method combines the results of colour histogram comparison and detection by the SURF algorithm. A solution for differential steering using a Gyro for the rotational speed measurement is compared with a solution using a speed model and control outputs without feedback (i.e. dead reckoning). Results: The results from the vision experiment rank the new proposed method highest among the other participating techniques. The distance experiment indicates that there is a direct and inverse relation between the distance and detected SURF features. It is also indicated by the results that distance affects the detection rate of the new proposed technique. In case of robot control, the differential drive solution using a speed model has less error rate than the one that uses a Gyro for angle measurement. It is also clear from the results that the greater the difference of speeds among the channels the less smooth is the angular movement. Conclusions: The results indicate that by combining a key-point based technique with colour segmentation, the false positive rate can be reduced and hence object recognition performance improves . It has also become clear that the improved accuracy of the proposed technique is limited to small distances and its performance decreases rapidly with increase in the distance to target objects. For robot control, the results indicate that a Gyro alone cannot improve the movement accuracy of the robotic system due to a variable drift exhibited by the Gyro while in rotation. However, a Gyro can be effective if used in combination with a magnetometer and some form of estimation mechanism like a Kalman filter. A Kalman filter can be used to correct the error in the Gyro by using the output from the magnetometer, resulting in a good estimate.

Catching the Spore killers : Genomic conflict and genome evolution in Neurospora

Svedberg, Jesper January 2017 (has links)
A genome is shaped by many different forces. Recombination can for instance both create and maintain genetic diversity, but the need to locally reduce recombination rates will also leave specific signatures. Genetic elements can act selfishly and spreading at the expense of the rest of the genome can leave marks of their activity, as can mechanisms that suppresses them, in a phenomenon known as genomic conflict. In this thesis, I have studied the forces driving genome evolution, using modern genome sequencing techniques and with a special focus on a class of selfish genetic elements known as Spore killers found in the fungus Neurospora. First, we show novel findings on large-scale suppression of recombination by non-structural means in the N. tetrasperma genomes. In contrary, in the genomic region harbouring the spore killer elements Sk-2 and Sk-3 of N. intermedia, a dense set of inversions that are interspersed with transposable elements have accumulated. The inversions are unique for each killer type, showing that they have a long separated evolutionary history and likely have established themselves independently. For the Sk-2 haplotype, where we have polymorphism data, we see signs of relaxed selection, which is consistent with the hypothesis that recombination suppression reduces the efficacy of selection in this region. These results show the strong effects the divergent selective forces of genomic conflicts can have on chromosome architecture. Furthermore, we investigate the hypothesis that spore killing can drive reproductive isolation, by comparing the fertility of crosses between N. metzenbergii and either killer or non-killer N. intermedia strains. We show that crosses with spore killer strains have lower fertility, which cannot be explained by the killing itself, but is potentially caused by an incompatibility gene captured in the non-recombining region. Finally, we identified the genetic element responsible for causing spore killing in the Sk-1 spore killer strains found in N. sitophila. Unlike the Sk-2 and Sk-3 elements, Sk-1 is not connected to a large, non-recombining region, but is caused by a single locus, and we also find indications that this locus was introgressed from N. hispaniola.
