[en] THE THEOLOGY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN VICTOR CODINA / [pt] A TEOLOGIA DO ESPÍRITO SANTO EM VÍCTOR CODINA

NIVALDA MILAK 25 January 2013 (has links)
[en] The theology of the Holy Spirit in Victor Codina, woven in the row of the Christological complementation and the post-Conciliar eclesiology, relates the Holy Spirit and the Church in historic perspective in the process saving joining criticism of Jesus to the Church. The author listens and reflects theologically from existential reality Latin American pastoral consequences, and designs against the silence of modern theology. The object of this theological reflection is treated as light that allows contemplate sociocultural reality objectively, cosmic and ecclesial theological. Theological and historical elements are essential on the horizon of the array codiniana pneumatology theological liberating, whose fertility gives rise to new spiritual experience, born of shared solidarity with the crucified of history, who live in the shadows of death in expansion. The poor, discovered as a theological place special prophetic character, give his pneumatology. Divine grace reveals the mysteries of God to the poor, making them carriers of human values, cultural and religious, alternative modernity. The spirit manifests itself where there is Fellowship, justice, compassion and solidarity. The spiritual salvation necessarily passes by historic liberation. Emerging Perspectives on cultural horizon and symbolic reason, revealing something of the ineffable Mystery. A mysterious thread weaves the historic plot, leading it to the eschatological horizon. Insufficient pneumatology posts the Church to the past and the legal-sacramental ecclesial model, exhausted. The absolute confidence of the poor in God is the ultimate reason of liberating theological debate. Being a Christian, more than follow a doctrine, is allowed to reach by the dynamism of the spirit, passing from ethics to mystique of following Jesus Christ.

The ministry, Gordian knot of the ecumenism? : the question of ministries in the international theological dialogues between the Lutheran and the reformed Churches and the Roman Catholic Church

Baccuet, Christian 11 September 2017 (has links)
Ecumenical relations tend to crystallize around the question of ministry, a subject on which current dialogue seems to be blocked. For fifty years, the Lutheran and Reformed Churches have been engaged in dialogue at the international level with the Roman Catholic Church on this question. Numerous reports have been produced. This study analyzes the strong convergences, the legitimate differences and the divergences which appear in these dialogues on the apostolicity of the Church, the importance of the common priesthood of the baptized, the necessity of a special ministry conferred by ordination for the service of preaching and administration of the sacraments and the essential importance for the Church of a ministry of episkopè to protect the integrity of the faith and preserve the unity of the church. The study demonstrates that ministry is not the ultimate question, but one that reveals fundamental ecclesiological issues which appear in the connection between eucharistic and ecclesial communion, the structuring of the Church on a universal level and its relationship with local Churches, the presence in fullness of the Church of Jesus Christ in one or several particular Churches. The study offers a reflexion which prepares the ground for moving forward to a mutual recognition of ministries which, although not currently on the agenda, nevertheless still remains possible.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Rodrigo Antonio da Silva.pdf: 763487 bytes, checksum: 6fbcd6c5dfe59659585620883c9ebf44 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-09-05 / Hermetic definitions about the Church can not to express the fullness of her Mystery. Overcoming the vision of juridical emphasis, the ecclesiology developed from the Second Vatican Council takes the theological way of the first millennium and rescues aspects, images and notions that complement each other. The Church recognizes herself as being a mystery: desired by God, she has her foundation, life and destiny in the Trinity. Your life should express Trinitarian communion. It is the new People of God who walk in communion with each other and with God towards the heavenly homeland. Evidently, this vision rescued and renewed in the Council brings with it new ecclesial relations ad intra and ad extra. The Ecclesiology of Communion, along with other important images and definitions, still seems to lack more attention and also remains with an immense open field of practical applications in the ecclesial life. The present dissertative text intends to explore the foundations and relevance of this ecclesiology for the present time and the possible implications already observed in some scenarios of the Church. For this purpose, the author offers the results of the research in three moments: first, he presents the fundamental biblical concepts that relate to the ecclesiology of communion: community, communion and People of God. Next, the contrast between the juridical ecclesiology characteristic of the second millennium and the paradigm shift present in the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium, as well as some advances achieved in the trinitarian and ecclesiological theologies in the post-Council, is made. Finally, the focus is on some of the ecclesial articulations developed in recent years: the dialogue movement in the internal and external spheres of the Church, the reception in Latin America, as well as the perspectives opened from the pontificate of Pope Francis / Definições herméticas a respeito da Igreja não conseguem expressar a totalidade do seu Mistério.

[en] THE ITINERARY CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULT S FAITH IN URBAN CONTEXTS: FROM THE CONVERSION PASTORAL TO THE INITIATION CATECHIZE / [pt] O ITINERÁRIO DA INICIAÇÃO CRISTÃ DA FÉ DE ADULTOS EM CONTEXTOS URBANOS: DA PASTORAL DE CONVERSÃO À CATEQUESE DE INICIAÇÃO

LEONARDO FELIPE DE OLIVEIRA RIBAS 08 September 2005 (has links)
[en] The sociocultural and religious challenges in our present day urban context require a theological revision in the Catholic Church s pastoral action. The fragmentation of the Brazilian religious universe has marked the logic of action and religious practice in different branches of Catholicism. On the one hand, we may find the imperative of subjectivism; on the other hand, a pre-urban pastoral. Both of them are posed as challenges to meet the demands of this context. This dissertation aims at redescovering the adults Christian initiation and its potential for evangelization. It departs from the principle that if we rediscover the fundamentals of the catecumenate as an essential function of the Church and, if we discover both an initiation and reinitiation of adults Christian faith based on a permanent personal contact as reference to the Kingdom and justice, we will then have a new ecclesiastic paradigm to revitalize the Catholic Church in our times. The main point in this work is to show that if the Church does not change, the catechism will not change and vice versa. The adult catechize is the only way to help with the rebirth of an adult Church. We also believe that the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adult s (RCIA) is a privileged instrument of the Church as it helps those who come or return to Live Christ s Pascal Ministry by means of the pastoral experience it involves − biblical, liturgical, communitarian, pastoral and solidarian. Finally, we can affirm that the Church is definitely the environment where the coming and return to Christ may come true.

Förnyelse och enhet. Motsatspar eller partners? : En frågeställning belyst av den ekumeniska utvecklingen i Uddevalla 1975-2000 / Renewal and Unity – opposites or partners : An issue highlighted by the ecumenical development in Uddevalla 1975-2000

Olsson, Arne January 2013 (has links)
During the last four decades of the 1900’s, the churches in Sweden faced major changes, both from a national and a local perspective. Two movements within Christianity played a major role in this development: the ecumenical movement and the charismatic movement. The encounters between the established churches and, in particular, the charismatic renewal movement was, however, not always friction-free. At times, they were quite belligerent. As a result, many relations between people and organisations were damaged, during the 80’s and 90’s. In addition to personal and collective grief, this implied a significant drain of resources. The aim of this study is to examine, from an ecclesiological perspective, what happens in the encounter between a renewal movement and churches in a local ecumenical context, and to highlight under what conditions these meetings lead to unity and division, respectively. The actors of interest to this study are (1) the renewal movement with its upholders, (2) the churches, with its ministers, and (3) leaders at district and national levels. The aim is to find patterns in their behaviour, as well as the consequences of these for the encounters between the renewal movement and the established churches in the area. The participants' ability to engage in active reconciliation appears to be an important factor, determining the direction of the correlation between renewal movements in relation to division and unity. A part of the aim is therefore also to examine the conditions and the occurrence of reconciliation processes, as well as the methodology used. The study is made from a local ecumenical perspective on the meeting between the renewal movement and the church. More specifically, the ecumenical development in Uddevalla, during its meeting with the charismatic renewal movement the years 1975-2000, is examined.

Isomorfismer i kyrklig organisation : En ecklesiologisk undersökning av Svenska kyrkans regionala nivå / Isomorphism in Church Organization : An Ecclesiological Study in the Regional Level of the Church of Sweden

Nordlund, Fredrik January 2014 (has links)
This thesis examines the regional part of the Church of Sweden. Existing as a Lutheran evangelical church since the declaration in Uppsala in 1593, the Church of Sweden became completely separate from the state in the year 2000. Apart from a small piece of legislation by the Swedish parliament, the now former state controlled church were to act on their own. This development can be seen as a result of several decades of discussions. The author is raising the question about the roll and function of bishops and dioceses in the Church of Sweden. By using original non-theological concepts such as isomorphism and management, the ecclesiological function of the Church of Sweden is presented. The terminology of management from business and economics has influenced the economic language of the church. In several cases the Church of Sweden has been subject to isomorphic impacts in bureaucratic and economical matters. The impression is that the development has partly been reduced from the regions or the dioceses. The author also presents a keyword for meta-ecclesiology; the church as such.

Modernity and the Theologico-Political Problem in the Thought of Joseph de Maistre and Fyodor Dostoyevsky: A Comprehensive Comparison

Racu, Alexandru 25 July 2013 (has links)
In this thesis I compare the views of Joseph de Maistre and Fyodor Dostoyevsky with regard to the relation between modernity and the theologico-political problem. I integrate this comparison within the general context of the reflection concerning modernity and the theologico-political problem, as well as within the context of two Christian theological traditions, Catholic and Orthodox, on the basis of which the two authors develop their religious and political thought. In particular, I analyze the views of the two authors with regard to the origins and the defining traits of modernity. Likewise, I present their opinions concerning the consequences which are inherent in the modern project. Viewing modernity first and foremost as an attempt to build a secular world that would define itself by its opposition to what both authors regard as authentic Christianity, Maistre and Dostoyevsky emphasize the fact that, having theological origins that mark the totality of its becoming, modernity should be understood on the basis of a theologico-political reflection. Associating the modern ambition to build a secular world with the fate of the biblical Tower of Babel, both authors adopt a prophetic posture, announcing the collapse of the modern project as well as the ultimate eschatological resolution of the modern crisis. Yet, the two authors are differentiated by their interpretations of the relation between modernity and the theologico-political problem, identifying differently the theological origins of the modern crisis. In this sense, while according to Maistre modernity originates in the Protestant Reformation, for Dostoyevsky, modernity’s origins must be located in the transformations of Western Christianity that have finally lead to the latter’s separation from Eastern Orthodoxy. These differences of interpretation lead to the articulation of two different responses to the modern crisis, which are rooted in two different Christian theological traditions. Consequently, if in reaction to the modern crisis Maistre affirms the Catholic principle of authority, whose highest expression is the concept of papal infallibility, Dostoyevsky opposes to this crisis the Orthodox principle of brotherhood in Christ. The critique of modernity culminates in the thought of the two authors with an approach of the complex and troubling problem of theodicy, which, Maistre and Dostoyevsky believe, stands at the origin of the modern opposition to Christianity and its traditional institutions.

A theology of disagreement

Landau, Christopher January 2017 (has links)
Even the most casual contemporary observer of Christianity must recognise that the notion of Christian community being identifiable through the mutual love of its members (John 13:35) is difficult to reconcile with the schismatic reality of current ecclesial life, dominated in the public sphere by divisive debates on matters such as gender or sexuality. Given the constant presence of disagreement throughout the church’s history, it remains an ethical subject neglected by scholars. This study examines how New Testament texts might inform Christian approaches to disagreement. It is the first systematic consideration of disagreement as a New Testament theme; it follows, and critiques, the methodological approach of Richard Hays in The Moral Vision of the New Testament. The context is public disagreement among Christians: how the church speaks in public when facing its inevitable disagreements, and what theological and ethical concerns might inform how this speech proceeds. The thesis is in three parts. Part One is an examination of the New Testament in relation to disagreement, following Hays' 'descriptive task'. In Part Two, the 'synthetic' and 'hermeneutical' tasks of Hays' methodology are critiqued and some modifications are proposed; a theology of disagreement that emerges from the New Testament is outlined. Part Three considers some ecclesiological implications of this theology of disagreement. Following Hays' 'pragmatic task', it examines how moral theological insights from the New Testament interact with the life of the contemporary church. Illustrative examples consider the church's public theological witness, its pneumatology, and its liturgy, to demonstrate the need for a Christian ethic to engage with extra-Biblical authority with greater enthusiasm than Hays. The thesis concludes by affirming the particular value of reading the New Testament in pursuit of ethical wisdom, but without excluding insights from tradition, reason and experience. The challenge for the church is identified as a move Towards Loving Disagreement; an integral part of its mission is to disagree Christianly.

Jean Bréhal : inquisiteur d'exception ou inquisiteur exemplaire de la fin du Moyen Age / Jean Bréhal : exceptional inquisitor or exemplary inquisitor in the late Middle Ages

Silvestre, Laurence 08 December 2017 (has links)
Jean Bréhal is a Dominican friar from Normandy and a theology professor, who became renowned as an inquisitor in the kingdom of France, neither for tracking down heresy nor pursuing witches, but for quashing sentences, more especially the sentence of condemnation of the Maid of Orléans, twenty five years after she was burnt at the stake in Rouen. The longevity of his tenure in the officium inquisitionis (from 1452 until 1474), in the reigns of Charles VII and Louis XI, contrasts with how few investigations he actually conducted, according to the documentation. So we wonder whether he was an exception or exemplary for the late Middle Ages. The “Bréhal case” suggests looking upon the office of inquisitor after the Council of Vienne, in the particular context of a territory that was still scarred by the divisions of the Hundred Years’ war, and of a Church that had been tested by the Great Schism and its aftermaths. Our corpus mostly consists of the Dominican’s own writings, of which some documents are unpublished manuscripts, and its core lies in the trial of nullification of the condemnation of Joan of Arc. On that basis, the aim of this thesis is to know not only the man and his journey but also, and above all, his thinking, to parse his scholastic prose, to grasp the meaning of his action, to discover his motivation, and to understand the nature of the “power” that he has embodied over several decades. Eventually, this study, while focusing on Jean Bréhal, sheds light as much on a time, a world and the state of an office, as on the specificities of one individual. Above all, its goal is to introduce readers to a body of works that contains various fields and interests.

The pastor as spiritual antagonist : re-assessing the role of South African Baptist pastors in an environment of conflict

Simms, Ian Melville 11 1900 (has links)
Baptist pastors in the early years of the twenty-first century find themselves in a challenging yet exciting period of South African history. Much has changed in the socio-political and religious contexts, yet Baptist pastors are still prone to operate according to earlier models of leadership and ecclesiology, with the result that they find themselves in situations of heightened conflict. Their position with respect to the laity, with whom they share a common priesthood of believers, is also an ambiguous one. After orientating the reader to the nature of the problem and various starting issues (chapter 1), this practical-theological thesis seeks to explore the nature of the changes in the socio-political milieu (chapter 2), as well as in the religious context (chapter 3). Baptist pastors are affected by a range of expectations that emerge from a particular view of the Bible and from the wider church community, as well as from the media and their own experience of pastors. Chapters 4 and 5 seek to understand these expectations, especially as these expectations have combined to produce role conflict and role ambiguity. In such a situation it is more understandable that ministry can lack a pastoral centre and an unclear identity. Pastors have adopted a stance in the midst of such competing demands on their role identity and chapter 6 attempts to make their position clearer through empirical analysis, before embarking – in chapters 7 and 8 – on a description of a new model of pastoral ministry that is founded on the theatrical notion of the antagonist. Several implications for future ministry are explored in chapter 9, as we look forward to a revised praxis. The pastor as spiritual antagonist is approached from the vantage-point of the world of drama, since this angle, in its metaphorical richness, is seminal for a new understanding of the provocative role of the pastor in a world that is steadily devaluing spiritual leadership. The spiritual antagonist is described in terms of his/her character and ministry actions as one who is profoundly spiritual in his awe of God and in his determination to live reflectively. At the same time the spiritual antagonist is one who has an imaginative grasp on the communicative possibilities of being with people, and alongside people, intensely and for the purpose of provoking decision and faith. Whatever conflict is generated by such a stance is deliberately incorporated for educational and transformational purposes. Whatever is modelled – in the mode of the spiritual antagonist – by ordained pastors / elders becomes facilitatory for fellow believers in the congregation to fashion a similar identity. Thus an old division in Baptist ecclesiology is healed. / Practival Theology / (D. Th. (Practical Theology))
