Denna uppsats är en jämförelse mellan den fiktiva dokumentären ”This is Spinal Tap” och tre andra dokumentärer, där jag använder mig av narratologisk analys för att besvara mina frågor kring berättarstruktur. Uppsatsen har delats upp med en narratologisk teoridel samt terminologi som förklarar och redogör för hur berättarstruktur fungerar samt en förklarning kring de olika diegetiska nivåerna. Detta leder till en ingående analysdel där jag förklarar hur ”This is Spinal Tap” samt de andra tre dokumentärerna är uppbyggda med hjälp av berättarstrukturella diagram som skildrar hur de olika diegetiska nivåerna smälter samman. Detta leder till min slutdiskussion där jag sammanfattar de olika delarna som avslutas med en sammanfattning där jag avslutar med resultatet av min studie.

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo examinar o método de composição das comédias de Sá de Miranda e a maneira como o autor utilizou o processo de recriação poética denominado imitatio para promover o diálogo intertextual com seus paradigmas. Trata-se aqui de analisar intertextualmente textos gerados dentro de um contexto histórico-literário específico, em que o imitar era a regra. O autor tem como primeira intenção ao compor esse tipo de obra inserir-se numa tradição poética que aceita e pressupõe a alusão a textos precedentes, ou seja, uma tradição poética autônoma, em que as relações intertextuais se dão de maneira consciente e técnica e a obra de imitação resulta da reelaboração criativa de modelos. O primeiro capítulo vem situar a obra cômica mirandina no contexto histórico-cultural em que foi gerada. O segundo capítulo trata de imitatio e intertextualidade, estabelecendo terminologia e métodos para a análise intertextual, especificamente, de obras que têm a apropiação intencional de textos como princípio de criação literária. O terceiro capítulo apresenta um breve histórico do teatro latino, das origens até o surgimento da fabula palliata, adaptação latina da Comédia Nova Grega, que foi o modelo de comédia imitado pelos poetas renascentistas italianos, cujas obras se tornaram também paradigmas para o poeta português. O último capítulo é dedicado à análise intertextual das comédias de Sá de Miranda. / The objective of this dissertation is to examine the method of composition of Sá de Miranda?s comedies and the way the author made use of the poetic recreation process denominated imitatio to promote the intertextual dialogue with their paradigms. It concerns to the intertextual analysis of texts produced within a specific historical and literary context in which imitating was the rule. The author who composes literary works under this rule has as his first intention to get into a poetic tradition which accepts and presupposes the alusion to preceding texts, i. e., an autonomous poetic tradition in which the intertextual relations take place in a conscious and technical manner and the work of imitation results of the creative re-elaboration of the patterns. The first chapter comes to situate Sá de Miranda?s comic work in the historical and cultural context in which it was generated. The second chapter deals with imitatio and intertextuality, establishing terminology and methodology for intertextual analysis of specifically literary works which have the intentional appropriation of texts as literary creation principle. The third chapter presents a brief history of the Roman theater, from its origins up to the arising of the fabula palliata, the Roman adaptation of the Greek New Comedy, which was the model of comedy imitated by the Italian poets of the Renaissance, whose works became paradigms to the Portuguese poet too. The last chapter is dedicated to the intertextual analysis of Sá de Miranda?s Comedy.

The Visual Conveyance of Narrative : From A Cognitive Perspective / Visuellt förmedlande av narrativ : Från ett kognitivt perspektivBorg Gyllenbäck, Ossian January 2019 (has links)
This qualitative study aims to explore, from a cognitive perspective, the influence visuals have on conveying the game's narrative and how this engages the player. The focus being to further the understanding of how both visuals and narrative affect the overall experience. Motivated by the underrepresentation of visuals and narrative studies within game research. At the centre of the study is a thematic analysis of qualitative data collected from face to face interviews in a home and school environment, where players shared memorable moments experienced while playing a game. The interviews were complemented by data from popular forums, with the same focus. Helping the analysis of the data were cognitive theories into how our minds process and interpret information, an analysis which resulted in five main themes with corresponding code, which represented what appeared central for the creation of the memorable moment. There were, however, always more than one element within the game which provided and engaged the player in the narrative construction of the memorable moment, which served to highlight the importance of considering all aspects of the design, as all affected our meaning making. Central to engaging the player's narrative construction was the intrinsic motivation of curiosity, in tangent with our desire to learn. Exactly how different visuals elements affected the player's narrative construction did not become apparent during the analysis, as a fine line existed between what element provided for different memorable moments. Most notably was that all of the themes and codes could be tied back to engagement, as all of them served to engage the player's meaning making. A discovery that in turn, lead to the creation of a framework for future studies, which, while supported by cognitive theories, aims to enable the discovery of what and how different aspects engage the player in the experience. / Målet med denna kvalitativa studie är att, utifrån ett kognitivt perspektiv, utforska inflytande det visuella har på att förmedla spelets narrativ och hur detta engagerar spelaren i upplevelsen. Fokuset är att utveckla förståelsen för hur det visuella och narrativet påverkar den övergripande upplevelsen, vilket är motiverat av underrepresentationen av studier med fokus på det visuella och narrativet inom spelforskning. I centrum av studien är en tematisk analys av den kvalitativa data som samlats in från intervjuer i en hem och skolmiljö, där deltagarna delade minnesvärda stunder från när de spelade spel. Intervjuerna kompletterades med data från populära forum med samma fokus. Kognitiva teorier om hur man bearbetar och tolkar information, fick ge stöd till analysen av spelarnas meningsskapande som resulterade i fem huvudteman med motsvarande koder, som representerade det som framstod som det centrala i skapandet av de minnesvärda stunderna. Det fanns dock alltid mer än ett element i spelet som bidrog och engagerade spelaren i den narrativa konstruktionen av det minnesvärda ögonblicket, vilket lyfter fram vikten av att uppmärksamma alla aspekter av designen, eftersom alla påverkade meningsskapandet. Centralt för att engagera spelarnas narrativa konstruktion var vår inre motivation av nyfikenhet, i kombination med vår vilja att lära oss. Exakt hur de olika visuella elementen påverkade spelarens narrativa konstruktion framkom dock inte under analysen, eftersom gränsen mellan vilka element som bidrog med de olika minnesvärda stunderna, var hårfin. Det tydligaste exemplet av detta är att alla teman och koderna kunde knytas tillbaka till engagemang, eftersom alla bidrog till att engagera spelaren meningsskapande. En upptäckt som i sin tur ledde till skapandet av ett ramverk för framtida studier, som vars mål är, med stöd av kognitiva teorier, att möjliggöra upptäckten av hur de olika aspekterna engagerar spelaren i upplevelsen.

This project is a creative production that combines image, sound, and narrative. It uses these elements to employ a twist as a device for a paradigm and genre shift in a short film text. My short film introduces a plot that is seemingly linear. Yet, the twist presents a piece of information that reveals the actual non-linear nature of the story, which in turn necessitates the re-interpretation of the plot. The aim of this project is to explore how a twist in a narrative-based short film can alter the cues and perceptions the audience receive from the plot. The project is predominantly practice-based (80%).

Stranger than fiction : En studie kring berättarstruktur i en filmWärme, Robert January 2008 (has links)
Denna uppsats är en narratologisk analys av berättarstrukturen inom filmen Stranger than fiction. Uppsatsen inleder med en terminologi samt en teoridel kring vad som är berättarstruktur. Utifrån detta analyserar jag filmen för att grundläggande redogöra kring hur den är berättad genom att först beskriva filmens totala fabula för att sedan analysera vad som egentligen förmedlas och på så sätt även komma fram till en slutsats kring filmens totala berättarstruktur. Resultatet visar på att Stranger than fiction är berättad genom flertalet olika nivåer som visar på två olika berättare inom två olika diegeser som förmedlas genom samma berättare. Detta resultat leder till en tematisk diskussion ett postmodernt ontologiskt syfte som genom filmens komplicerade narratologiska struktur försöker förmedla budskapet ”lev det liv du vill ha” samt ”livet blir viktigt först när döden gör sig synlig.

Den kognitiva forskaren och teoretikern inom tecknade serier, Neil Cohn, har utvecklat en narrativ grammatisk teori som både förklarar hur människan uppfattar tecknade serier och fungerar som ett ramverk för narrativa analyser av serier. Cohn anser att teorin också kan användas för att analysera film. Avsaknaden av en liknande teori för film gör det intressant att testa i vilken utsträckning teorin kan appliceras på rörliga bilder. Uppsatsen har först beskrivit Cohns teori och relevanta skillnader mellan film och tecknade serier. Med dessa skillnader i åtanke har uppsatsen analyserat fem olika filmscener genom Cohns teori. I slutsatsen konstaterades det att teorin går att applicera på film i samma utsträckning som på tecknade serier. Teorin kan användas för att förstå bildernas samverkan och hjälpa regissören i arbetet att få en översikt över filmsekvensernas narrativ. Teorin är också användbar under manusbearbetning, i regi av främst foto och klippning och vid arbetet av bildmanus.

Pires, narrativa onde se processa a retomada de um gênero
clássico - a fábula - em que a escrita é convertida em
signo ambivalente, capaz de entrelaçar novos sentidos a
conteúdos fixados pela tradição. Esse mecanismo
possibilitou ao escritor interrogar as memórias do
cotidiano da ditadura salazarista, incorporando, na ficção,
acontecimentos que marcaram a história política recente da
sociedade portuguesa. A presente dissertação analisa a
construção dessa narrativa, colocando em tensão o caráter
alegórico da fábula, a inscrição do gênero no contexto
histórico português, as representações do poder e da
censura no Estado Novo e a atuação do escritor como
intelectual. Por força de sistematização, o estudo se
divide em: A poética, O poder e O olhar, eixos temáticos

the recent Portuguese s political history. This master
thesis analyses how the narrative is build, stressing the
allegoric character of the fable, the way the genre is
contextualized in the Portuguese History, the power and
censure exhibition during the New State regime and the
performance of the author as an intellectual. By
systematization, the text is divided in tree thematic items:
The Poetics, The Power end The Look, that drive the
relevant aspects of this masterpiece.
