La gendarmerie nationale est un service public de la sécurité. Le caractère mixte de ses attributions laplace sous divers rattachements organiques. Spécifique, l’institution étend son champ de compétencedans de nombreux domaines, mais l’oscillation entre les fonctions policières et militaires engendre unepléthore de critiques, tant internes qu’externes. La période du début du XXème siècle n’est, d’ailleurs,que peu propice à la gendarmerie. L’arme est étroitement contrôlée, réminiscence du politique àl’égard d’une troupe supposée « prétorienne ». Les gendarmes sont, à la fois, valorisés parl’apposition, à leur appellation professionnelle, de la distinction ancestrale de « soldat d’élite » maisdeviennent, également, les souffres-douleurs de cette société en pleine mutation. La première guerremondiale aggrave la donne. Vilipendés par les Poilus, ces personnels, qualifiés de « cognes » etd’ « embusqués », sont victimes d’agressions verbales et physiques permanentes. Ils endurent lesobjurgations des populations civile et militaire. L’adoption de réformes est difficile. Elle estcontingentée par des impératifs politiques, budgétaires et militaires. Malgré l’ensemble de cescontraintes, l’implication des pandores reste entière. Présents en métropole, aux colonies, sur lesthéâtres d’opérations extérieures, à l’étranger, ils permettent d’imposer ce corps à vocation interarmeset interservices, polyvalent ainsi que protéiforme. A force de volonté et de déterminisme, lesgendarmes influent sur la marche de l’histoire. De 1900 à 1918, ils façonnent, par leur engagement, lagendarmerie actuelle. / The National Gendarmerie is a public service in charge of security. The double nature of its remitplaces it under several jurisdictions. Being specific, the institution extends its range of competence tovarious fields, but the oscillation between its police and military functions generates a multitude ofcriticisms, both internal and external. The period of the early 20th century, anyway, was somewhatunfavourable to the Gendarmerie. The force is then closely controlled, a reminiscence of thegovernment against troops viewed as praetorian. The gendarmes, commended by the adjunction, totheir professional designation of the ancestral distinction “elite soldiers”, also became, at the sametime, the scapegoats of a society undergoing major changes. WWI made the deal even rougher.Reviled by the rank and file, dubled as “the fuzz” and “shirkers”, the personnel fell prey to ceaselessverbal and physical aggression, suffering reproaches from both civilians and military. Passing reformsproved uneasy, restricted as the were by political, budgetary and military pregnant dictates. In spite ofthat chain of constraints, the dedication of the “Pandores” remained absolute. Their presence inmetropolitan France, in the colonies and in the theatres of operations abroad, made it possible toestablish the force as indispensable, with its interforce and interservice dedication and itsmultifunctional protean quality. By dint of strongwill and determination, the gendarmes influenced thecourse of history. Between 1900 and 1918, by their commitment, they shaped the present-dayGendarmerie.

Approche conjointe canal et amplificateur d'émission pour l'allocation dynamique de puissance dans les systèmes MIMO-OFDM / Joint channel and power amplifier for dynamic power allocation in MIMO-OFDM systemsSohtsinda, Hermann 05 April 2017 (has links)
Cette thèse porte sur l'optimisation des performances des systèmes de transmission multimédias MIMO-OFDM prenant conjointement en compte les imperfections de l'amplificateur de puissance et les distorsions du canal. Les fluctuations d'amplitude des signaux OFDM, caractérisées par un PAPR élevé, rendent la transmission vulnérable à la non-linéarité de l'amplificateur de puissance. On propose dans un premier temps une méthode permettant d'améliorer les performances de la méthode Tone Reservation en termes de gain de réduction du PAPR et de rapidité de convergence, en associant les échantillons de l'Intervalle de Garde aux Sous-Porteuses Nulles. Les simulations en présence d'un amplificateur de puissance à effets mémoire et d'un canal radio basé sur un modèle de propagation réaliste montrent que la méthode proposée offre de bonnes performances tout en respectant les spécifications fréquentielles, dans le cadre du standard IEEE 802.11a. Dans un second temps, on propose d'étudier l'impact de la non-linéarité dans un système MIMO-OFDM précodé dédié à la transmission d'images JPWL, respectant la norme IEEE 802.11n. On montre que la non-linéarité affecte la robustesse de transmission contre les erreurs de transmission et dégrade considérablement la qualité visuelle des images reçues. Enfin, on propose une stratégie de précodage originale prenant conjointement en compte l'amplificateur de puissance, le canal de transmission et le contenu de l'image à transmettre. Cette stratégie alloue successivement la puissance sur les sous-canaux SISO issus de la décomposition du canal MIMO afin de maximiser la qualité visuelle des images reçues tout en réduisant la puissance totale d'émission. Les résultats de simulation montrent que cette nouvelle stratégie qui considère un amplificateur et un canal réalistes, permet de garantir la robustesse de transmission et d'améliorer la qualité visuelle des images reçues. / This thesis focuses on the optimization of multimedia transmissions in MIMO-OFDM systems by jointly taking into account the power amplifier non-linearity and the wireless channel distortions. The OFDM modulation generates a high peak fluctuation, measured by the PAPR, which is affected by the RF non-linearity such as the power amplifier, reducing the transmission quality. We first propose a new method to improve the Tone Reservation method performances in terms of PAPR reduction gain and convergence speed, by including the samples of the Guard Interval Signal in the optimization algorithm. Simulations results using a power amplifier model with memory effects and a radio channel based on a realistic propagation model show that the new method offers the better performances, while respecting the IEEE 802.11a spectrum mask. Secondly, we propose to study the impact of power amplifier nonlinearity on the transmission of scalable image contents over a precoded Closed-Loop MIMO-OFDM system. The simulations in a realistic context, under the standard IEEE 802.11n standard show that the RF non-linearity affects the robustness against transmission errors and highly degrades the visual quality of the received JPWL images. Finally, we propose a new precoding strategy which jointly takes into account the power amplifier, the radio channel and the image content to be transmitted. This strategy successively allocates power between the SISO sub-channels obtained from the MIMO channel decomposition in order to maximize the visual quality of the received images, while reducing the total output power. Simulations with a realistic power amplifier model, associated with a realistic channel model show that this new strategy ensures a robust transmission and improves the visual quality of the received images.

Digital Video Broadcasting (standard DVB) is a system for transmission of the television signals in the digital form. There are used a various types of modulations in this system as QPSK modulation is used in the systems of satellite video broadcasting DVB-S (Satellite) and M-QAM modulations in the cable transmitting DVB-C (Cable). This paper mainly deals with system of the terrestrial digital video broadcasting DVB-T (Terrestrial), where OFDM modulation is used. This type of signal processing is more resistant to the distortions caused by multipath transmitting, which is main problem in the DVB-T. Matlab application, which can simulate digital modulation and demodulation of the transmission signals in the DVB-T, is created in this thesis. The models of the transmission channel is inserted between structures of modulator and demodulator. The user of this application can set the parameters of the broadcasting (e.g. constellation, OFDM mode, guard interval insertion) and the type of distortions (additive noise, reflected and delayed signals). By calculation of the channel bit error rate (BER) user can study influences of broadcasting parameters to the quality of transmission.

The thesis explains the dynamics of Fascisation in Europe in the mid-war period, and places the Slovak Republic to this context of "the Fascist era". In the practical part, it will be dealt with divisions of the regime internally and in the Hlinka's Slovak People's Party. Based on this, the Slovak regime will be defined as Parafascist. Development of Methodology for Finite Element Simulation of Overhead Guard Impact Test / Utveckling av metodik för finita elementsimulering av skyddstak utsatt för fallprovHallén, Axel, Hjorth, Jacob January 2022 (has links)
Forklifts that are capable of lifting heavy loads and reaching high lift heights are required by stan-dards to have an overhead guard to protect the operator from falling objects. The same standardsspecify a standardized procedure for testing the strength of these overhead guards. The test in-volves dropping ten 45 kg wooden cubes and a heavy timber load onto the overhead guard. Thesedestructive tests are time-consuming and expensive, and it is the purpose of this master’s thesis todevelop a methodology for simulating this kind of test using the finite element method with a largedisplacements, explicit scheme using the solver RADIOSS by Altair. This was achieved by firstdesigning, constructing, and testing a physical prototype of an overhead guard to use as a referencefor a finite element methodology to be validated against. The work has also included tensile testingof the overhead guard material, and this was done both to obtain material data from the sametype of material as the prototype, and to get Johnson-Cook material parameters, which are hardto come by in the literature. Next, a basic finite element model was created which showed a verylarge discrepancy compared to the physical test results. An extensive investigation into aspectssurrounding finite element modeling and material modeling was undertaken, and resulted in a fi-nal model which overestimated the displacements by about 40 % only. The remaining inaccuracyis believed to mostly stem from inadequate strain-rate sensitivity data, caused by limitations inavailable resources for material testing.

This work explores the relationship from 1925 to 1939 between the business and government leaders of Indianapolis and the development of a municipal airport for the city. Beginning in 1925, local leaders worked to provide the city with a public airport. The initiation of three distinct and consecutive airport projects during this period closely tied development of a public airport with the commercial future of Indianapolis. The Chamber of Commerce led the first project, which established a public airport shared with the Indiana National Guard. Soon after this airport opened, the City of Indianapolis, with the cooperation of the Chamber of Commerce, undertook the development of a larger municipal airport in Indianapolis that opened in 1931. Finally, in 1938 the city government cooperated with the Civil Aeronautics Authority (CAA) to build a national aviation experimental station at the Indianapolis Municipal Airport.

The AK4 rifle serves as the primary weapon for the Home Guard, an integral part of the Swedish Armed Forces. Introduced in 1964, the AK4 is the Swedish version of the Heckler & Koch G3 and functions as a fully automatic assault rifle. Among its components, the handguard holds significant importance, providing stability, improving accuracy and control, and protecting the user from heat generated by the barrel. Recognizing the need for optimization, an employee from the ALTEN Group, possessing military experience and expertise in the AK4, launched a project to enhance the ergonomics and versatility of the handguard in a cost-effective manner. This initiative stems from the excessively high cost of commercially available handguards, making them financially unviable for replacing the original handguard of every AK4 used by the Home Guard personnel. This project aims to design and develop a next-generation handguard for the AK4 rifle that addresses the current limitations of the existing handguard. The primary focus is improving the shooter’s performance by establishing a comfortable shape of the handguard, reducing the weight, and enhancing its compatibility with accessories. Additionally, the aim is to ensure the handguard is cost-effective for mass production and meets the requirements set by the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration. To achieve the aims, interviews and a comprehensive user testing study was conducted, collecting quantitative data in the form of participant ratings and rankings for different design concept while also gathering qualitative data through participant feedback that highlighted specific design features contributing to comfort. Additionally, a systematic material selection process was performed, involving the analysis and ranking of various materials based on properties such as weight, price, and specific mechanical properties. Furthermore, the manufacturing analysis relied mainly on conversations with industry experts possessing expertise in the field of plastic manufacturing. Upon conducting a detailed analysis, it has been determined that the ideal configuration for the final product is an octagonal shape. After careful evaluation, Polyamide 6 reinforced with 30% glass fibers has emerged as the most suitable material choice for the handguard. This material had the optimal balance between mechanical properties, thermal performance, durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact. To produce 50,000 handguard units, the recommended manufacturing method was injection molding due to its compatibility with mass production and the advice received from industry experts. Considering the design and selected material, a substantial number of the requirements outlined by FMV could be fulfilled by conducting both theoretical analyses and practical experiments.

otimizada e produzam diesel e gasolina com fração mássica de enxofre conforme
o limite da especificação. No entanto, quando esse parâmetro de qualidade é
analisado pelas refinarias e, após as operações de transferência, é reanalisado
pelos terminais de armazenamento, esses resultados de medição nem sempre
atendem à especificação. Para evitar disputa entre produtores e consumidores
sobre o cumprimento da especificação é necessário que haja uma margem mais
segura dentro da avaliação da conformidade desses produtos. Este trabalho
apresentou uma nova metodologia que utiliza da Reconciliação de Dados em
conjunto com o conceitos de bandas de guarda para determinação de novos
limites de tolerância de propriedades críticas, como o enxofre, em alguns
combustíveis, com base na reprodutibilidade, na diferença entre as médias de
todos os resultados aceitáveis de cada laboratório e nas especificações brasileiras.
Essa abordagem alternativa pode ser utilizada para evitar disputas entre
fornecedores e clientes (Oliveira e Aguiar, 2019). Em conjunto com a RD foram
utilizados os conceitos de regras de decisão com as definições das bandas de
guarda, apresentados pelo Guia Eurachem/CITAC, 2021. Na presente pesquisa,
foi visto que utilizando restrições de processo e medições redundantes, o valor
reconciliado (resultado final) apresenta melhores valores experimentais, além
disso a incerteza reconciliada é minimizada em relação às incertezas que foram
calculadas experimentalmente. / [en] It is an operational practice that refineries (here producers) work in an
optimized way and produce diesel and gasoline with a mass fraction of sulfur
close to the specification. However, when this quality parameter is analyzed by
refineries and, later, after custody transfer operations, it is re-analyzed by storage
terminals (here called consumers), these measurement results do not always meet
the specification. This study proposes a new methodology based on data
reconciliation connected to the guard bands concept to establish upper acceptance
limits for producers offering a comfortable giveaway to consumers. From the
minimized reconciled expanded uncertainties, process model constraints, and the
upper specification limits, the upper acceptance limits for the producers were
optimized to ensure that the reconciled values meet the specification. Consumer
and producer risks and histograms were calculated. Validation data sets proved
that the proposed methodology could be applied because all the reconciled values
comply with the specifications.
