Ottosson, Frida, Cascalheira, Sophie January 2020 (has links)
This study acknowledges how the democratic mission has changed over time and which role it has today. By using a comparative idea analysis, fourteen Swedish and Finish curriculums and syllabuses stretching from 1970 to 2015 has been analysed and compared. Therefore, our purpose is to analyse how the curriculums and syllabuses can be compared to the modern society versus the late modern society, by using ideal types based on theories that legitimates our study. With this method, we were able to compare how much the late modern society has influenced the Swedish and Finnish curriculums and syllabuses. In the result, we concluded that the Finnish curriculums are still influenced by the modern society in a broader way than the Swedish. The Swedish curriculums have been more influenced by the late modern society as a result of the increased focus on the individual, which is a consequent of the development from the modern to the late modern society. The latest Finnish curriculums are also influenced by the late modern society. However, when they write about individuals, the importance of being a part of the community is always the primary goal. The comparison between the countries syllabuses shows a different sight of the subject social studies. In Sweden, it plays a larger role in the mission of creating democratic citizens, as to Finland, where it plays almost the same role as all the other subjects. The final discussion in this study is whether the democratic mission is still functioning in the society we are living in today. The conclusion is that it has to be changed, otherwise it will not legitimize in the late modern society. Furthermore, it has to change from being a firm mission to a more fluid one. Additionally, it has to create an environment where the pupils can become liberate subjects.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ Response to the Hepatitis a Virus Outbreak in Kentucky: An Idea Model Analysis

Cato, Rachel Leigh 01 October 2019 (has links)
The hepatitis A crisis in Kentucky is unprecedented compared to other states. With thousands of hospitalizations and over 60 deaths in the state of Kentucky alone, there is a need to evaluate the government’s response to the hepatitis A virus (HAV) epidemic. Therefore, the instructional risk communication messages that are being conveyed by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (KCHFS) are instrumental in the education and action plans of Kentuckians who are at risk of contracting HAV. This study utilizes the IDEA Model Thematic Analysis Codebook as a guide to analyze the KCHFS’ risk communication regarding the hepatitis A crisis, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of its campaign. Through this research, I identify the weaknesses in the KCHFS’ risk communication campaign including: the need to focus on a more general audience, the need to foreground all facets of the IDEA model on its website, the need to promote the vaccination of the HAV more strongly, and the need to make the website more user-friendly for all populations.

Expansionslernprojekt Nachhaltigkeitsbeauftragter (ELP NHB)

Breßler, Julia, Koch, Evelina January 2016 (has links)

Yves, Michal January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is that through idea analysis and ideal types examines if the EU changed the kind of peace they seek to promote to confirm or falsify Magnus Jernecks thesis that the meaning of peace change depend on the context. I will be making two comparison points, the first at the peace projects start in the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the second in the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). My ideal types that I have chosen are the idealistic perspective of peace, the justice peace perspective and the perspective of balance of power which has constituted a main line when it comes to issues of war and peace. My research question is linked to my ideal types and reads - is the peace that ECSC and ENP promote: 1) a peace of the idealistic perspective, 2) a peace of the justice perspective, 3) a peace of the balance of power perspective. I seek the answer of these questions in two types of documents. The Schuman declaration which is directed to answer the question ECSC and the report Wider Europe – Neighbourhood: a new framework for relations with our Eastern and Southern neighbors which is directed to answer the question ENP. The results of the study shows that the EU was intended to promote a different kind of peace within the ECSC than the ENP. The ECSC seek to promote a peace of justice and a peace of the balance of power perspective. With ENP they seek to promote a peace of justice and the idealistic peace perspective. This can give a result that EU loses its trustworthiness as a peace-builder if one is not clear when this change occurs.

Levinas et l'idée de l'infini / Levinas and the idea of infinity

Clement, Arnaud 15 November 2017 (has links)
The ethics that Emmanuel Levinas develops breaks with logic, phenomenology and ontology. The idea of infinity borrowed from Descartes’s Meditations on first Philosophy accomplishes this rupture and produces a new kind of philosophy. Our thesis aims to define the role played by the idea of infinity in enabling ethics to think within philosophy an intrigue which exceeds philosophy. This idea is subject to a triple discourse: it expresses the structure of a thought thinking more than it can think, it describes the meaning of this paradox as an infinite responsibility towards the other, and produces an emphasis that goes beyond essence. The unification of these three discourses within the ethics of the idea of infinity introduces a philosophical question that is more radical than the question of being: the question of infinity, which puts my being into question. Infinity comes to mind as a call for justice.

Contextualizing Atrocity : The Ottoman Greeks' Suffering through the Athenian Newspapers Estia and Empros, May 1919-December 1922

Mania, Foteini January 2020 (has links)
The present thesis offers an innovative perspective analysing the perception of Turkish atrocities against the Ottoman Greek communities during the temporal period May 1919-December 1922 through the Athenian newspapers Estia and Empros, which were committed to the ubiquitous Greek irredentist vision of the Megali Idea. Delving into theories which emphasize on the political nature of nationalism, on national mobilisation and on the exploitation of mass communication by the elite, this thesis attempts to elaborate on the inclusion of the Ottoman Greeks into an expanded Greek nation-state, based on the principle of self-determination. Hence, from the Greek Press' perspective, the presented Turkish atrocities against a part of the Greek nation and potential subjects of a broadened Greek state had been contextualized on the basis of Greek nationalism. The study shows that, despite the widespread and divided Greek communities in the Ottoman Empire/Turkey, Estia and Empros were declaring that their common denominator had been their Greek self-determination and the fact that all these communities were viewing the Greek state and the Greek army as their guarantors for their safety. Adding to the agents of Hellenism also the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Estia and Empros were highlighting the crucial role of these agents towards the endangered Ottoman Greek communities. Thus, the presentation of the respective information in the newspapers was leaning on this theoretical schema.

Nygård, Moa January 2021 (has links)
This study was based on a case study on Statens tjänstepensionsverk (The National Government Employee Pensions Board, SPV). The government agency handles occupational pensions for persons that are or have been a government employee. The purpose of this study was to chart how a Swedish government agency works with the front end of innovation, idea generation and idea management together with selection of ideas. The methods used were interviews of co-workers and a survey on the government agency. The result shows that there are different opinions about what are to be classified as an innovation and not among those surveyed. Today, there are no structured way to work with the front end of innovation at SPV. However, there are a clear process for ideas concerning development, where suggestions and ideas for smaller development projects can be handled directly by the teams, whilst for more large-scale projects an initiative must be sent in for prioritizing in SPV’s joint portfolio. In the study it emerged that for ideas concerning the daily development work the process is more indistinct. Over 29 % answered in the survey that they did not know where to go if they came up with an idea. The selection of ideas is done directly in the teams together with the boss in those cases the idea is not too extensive. For larger projects, the selection is made by those responsible for the portfolio. Four fundamental criteria used for selection and prioritising where found. These were customer value, the rule of law, effectiveness and quality.
