Bibel som Bibel, men Koranen är något annat? : - Om äldres religiositet på äldreboenden i invandrartäta områden i Sverige / Bible like Bible, but the Koran, that´s Another Story? : - The Religion of the Elderly in Nursing Homes in Immigrant Areas of Sweden

Magnusson, Maria January 2012 (has links)
This essay focuses on the elderly and their religious beliefs and is based on the origin idea of a secular Sweden, but where immigration has been the source of additional various religious affiliations. This study intends to nuance the problems that previous researchers focused on when doing research on immigration, by interviewing staff members of nursing homes in immigrant dense areas, especially Malmoe, Gothenburg and Stockholm. The aim is to investigate how the allocation of residents, with different religious than Protestant Christians, is distributed at nursing homes and to see if there is a need for adjustments. Additionally, the thesis about immigrants and immigrants' identity and attitudes to Swedish society is discussed with John Berry´s acculturation theories and strategies. The results show that the majority of the nursing homes have residents with different religious affiliations and that some practical adjustments have been done, but it also shows that nursing homes have changed to the extent that they have adapted to a secular society. Ignorance and prejudice contribute to the problem in terms of seeing all residents as individuals and at the same time ensuring adaption according to all their needs, which is exemplified in the solutions made by using multi-cultural staff members and specialized departments. The relationship between nursing homes and the Swedish church continues but the role of the church service has changed. However, the idea that residents with different affiliations are free to exercise their religion in private occurs simultaneously as it is highlighted that immigrants is assimilated into a secular Swedish society. This in turn means that not every residents need is seen to at the investigated nursing homes.

Dublinförordningen : en fallstudie av Migrationsverkets implementering av Dublinförordningen i sitt dagliga arbete / The Dublin Treaty : A case study of the Swedish Migration Board's implementation of the Dublin Treaty in their daily work

Axelsson, Linda January 2008 (has links)
The Swedish immigration policy is a subject constantly under scrutiny, especially in the media. The Dublin treaty, which came into effect in 2003, has meant stricter regulations for the handling of asylum seekers, which in turn increases the requirements of the officials at the Swedish Migration Board. Consequently, the staff at the Swedish Migration Board is daily facing difficulties when deciding who is to stay or not. Therefore, it is interesting to investigate how these criteria in the Dublin Treaty, are used in the daily work of the officials. Emphasizing these problematic aspects of the Dublin Treaty, this study aims to answer the following two questions: - How has the Dublin Treaty been implemented in Swedish legislation by the officials at the Swedish Migration Board? - How do these officials work to implement this treaty? This case study is based on interviews with a number of officials working at the Swedish Migration Board. To complement the interviews, a brief summary of the Dublin Treaty, is also included, in order to explain its contents. To analyze the material, a number of important aspects of the Dublin Treaty have been chosen. These aspects also constitute the analytical method. Conclusively, the officials working at the Swedish Migration Board have succeeded in the intention of implementing the Dublin Treaty. The treaty is well incorporated in the Swedish legislation, which is crucial in order for the immigration policy to function properly.

Live Language Coach-App : Svenska som andraspråk

Franzén, Ellen, Gonera, Mikael January 2016 (has links)
Learning in the wild

”Mord, ökad brottslighet, våldtäkt, rädsla och shariazoner” : En diskursanalys av artiklar om invandring i etablerade kontra alternativa medier / “Murder, increased crimes, rape, fear and sharia areas” : A discourse analysis of news about immigration in main stream media and alternative media

Sjöberg, Anton January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the discourse on immigration in mainstream media and alternative media and to compare the similarities and differences between two Swedish newspapers. These were Aftonbladet from established media and the right-winge alternative media Nya Tider.   The thesis focuses on analyzing news texts from both newspapers. The method used was critical discourse analysis based on Norman Fairclough's three-step model.   Aftonbladet and Nya tider both represent immigration as a terror threat, a threat of mass immigration, being criminal and being hostile to Swedes. Aftonbladet was alone in representing immigration as opressing women and immigrants as victims, while Nya tider was alone in representing immigration as an economic problem, a part of a exchange of the Swedish population and immigrants as violent. The main conclusion was that none of the analysed news stories containted aspects that represented immigration as someting positive in the Swedish society.
