Discurso hegemônico e contra-hegemônico: as contradições de classe a partir das vozes sociais presentes no romance \"Levantando do Chão\" de José Saramago / Speech hegemonic and counter-hegemonic, class contradictions from voices present in the social novel \"Levantado do Chão\" by José Saramago

Eduardo Kawamura 30 August 2012 (has links)
The objective of this work is to study the conformations present in the work discursive polemics Levantado do chão by José Saramago. Since the initial theoretical formulation for the dialogical process of language contact that, from different social voices presented by the novel, the author ends by presenting the field of fiction from the social tensions that develop throughout the twentieth century in Portugal in the region of Monte Lavre. Comparatively, from these discursive constructions confront the statements of peasants and landowners who, throughout the narrative, just for introducing us to a dialectical perspective in the specific context of the historical dimension of the period portrayed.

Vinculo Vivo : José María Arguedas, Miguel Angel Asturias och Paulo Coelho

Banegas, Rodolfo January 2008 (has links)

The principal questions that are high lightened in this study are: How is the discrimination of the Indigenous people in Latin-America represented in the works of Jose María Arguedas and Miguel Angel Asturias? How are these two authors interrelated in terms of the defense of a cultural belonging? And finally, can these be associated to Paulo Coelho’s narrative content and techniques?

This work shows how, as Nelson Gonzalez-Ortega names it, a narrative discourse of resistance (based on the consequences of the cultural merging of the European and Latin-American people) is expressed and transformed into modern literature. It shows how the works of these authors protect and transmit the interests and the cultural origins of the Latin-American Indigenous people. These origins are expressed by language, myths, storytelling techniques and the presentation of an alternative perspective of the world. It also shows, through analysis of their writing, how some of these authors as dual cultural human beings struggled to balance the two cultural elements they are constituted of.

Focus will be on Asturias Hombrez de Maiz, Arguedas Los ríos profundos and Coelhos 11 minutos and El Zahir.

Jose P. Laurel and Jorge B. Vargas: Issues of Collaboration and Loyalty during the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines

Black, Jonathan 01 January 2010 (has links)
In this paper I looked at the actions that were taken by Jose P. Laurel and Jorge Vargas during the occupation of the Philippines country by Japanese Imperial forces during World War II. I was mostly interested in the idea of loyalties that occurred in places that were occupied throughout history and what constituted the lines that would be drawn when the leaders of those countries decided to do what was best for their people. I started by researching the many of the Occupied countries of Japan and determined one in which there was a more controversial and grayed line of collaboration that occurred. I chose the Philippines mostly because of their relationship with the United States and to see how that factor affected the ideas of collaboration and loyalty. I mostly found that these men got most of their influences from their previous experiences in life but mostly form the last instructions that were given to them by Gen. MacArthur and their President. Ultimately they did not claim loyalty to the Japanese even though they collaborated with the Japanese. This is important in giving a good view into what needs to be done in order t preserve the nation state when being occupied by an invading force. It also explores the lines and interpretations of the definition of loyalty in these situations.

"Faith without works is dead" : a critical analysis of the Lausanne Covenant in the light of theological insights from Protestant Methodist theologian José Míguez Bonino.

Kanyense, Victor. January 2011 (has links)
This study sets out to suggest a theological and methodological framework that assists the evangelical movement in Africa, and in Zambia in particular, to engage its missionary task with greater effectiveness. The study is located within the radical evangelical theological tradition. In this regard, firstly, the study posits that the evangelical movement has a heritage of sociopolitical engagement that can be traced back to its origins in the great evangelical awakening of the eighteenth century. Secondly, the study posits that the evangelical movement abandoned its heritage of socio-political engagement during the first thirty years of the twentieth century due to a number of seemingly unrelated factors that, nevertheless, worked in concert. Thirdly, the study posits that during the third quarter of the twentieth century, evangelicalism engaged in a process through which it inadvertently began to recover its heritage of socio-political engagement. This process began with the International Congress on World Evangelisation in Lausanne, Switzerland in July 1974 (Lausanne 1974). It was an inadvertent recovery in that Lausanne 1974 did not set out to recover the lost heritage of evangelical socio-political engagement, but to plan strategically and to encourage evangelicals in the task of worldwide evangelism. However, during the proceedings of Lausanne 1974, a group of radical evangelicals became dissatisfied with the Lausanne Covenant’s proviso on the question of socio-political engagement, in its ‘two-mandate’ approach to the missionary task of the church. This study however, argues that though the Lausanne movement has become a rallying point and the Lausanne Covenant its expression of evangelical unity and purpose, it falls short of providing an adequate theological and methodological framework for evangelical sociopolitical engagement in Africa. The study posits that with key insights from José Míguez Bonino’s theological and methodological works: socio-analytic mediation, hermeneutic mediation and practical mediation, evangelicals in Africa, and in Zambia in particular, will be enabled to engage in its missionary task with greater effectiveness. When these missional tools from Míguez Bonino are engaged, evangelicals in Africa will be equipped to engage a process of missional reflection on the contextual reality and thus engage effectively in missional activities. Employing these key insights from Míguez Bonino, the study argues for a process that will free evangelicalism in Africa from the Northern American and European ‘theological imperialism’ that prevented the development of its own theology and missiology. The study further argues that such a process, as will assist evangelicalism in Africa to free itself from such influence, will invariably lead evangelicalism in Africa to develop a theology and missiology that will be more responsive to the African context. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, 2011.

Conte, Rudimar January 2001 (has links)
Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências Agrárias. / Made available in DSpace on 2012-10-18T04:24:27Z (GMT).

A avaliação do nível estático, permitiu caracterizar o comportamento do fluxo subterrâneo na área de estudo / Mainly due to population growth, in recent years, the water demand for public supply in São Paulo State has been increasing. In São Jose do Rio Preto city, located in the northwest region of São Paulo, about 350 wells, reaching the Bauru aquifer, provide, about 70% of water city supplying. In this work, it was quantified the radon and radium concentration in groundwater samples from the aquifer, considering the lack of such data in the region and their importance to the water quality, from a radiological point of view. In São Jose do Rio Preto city, which is geologically located in Bauru Group, three field campaigns (17 - 19 January 2011, 2 - 3 August 2011, 30th November 2011, where held 50 water samples from deep tubular wells were taken. The analyzes were performed at LABIDRO using the Alpha Guard equipment, which allowed obtain radon values ranging from 0.699 Bq/l to 14.95 Bq/l, that are below the WHO, guideline value of 100 Bq/l. Furthermore, this study evaluated the radium radionuclide, which is the precursor to radon in the radioactive decay series of uranium, whose values ranged from 0.07 Bq/l to 0.64 Bq/l, well below the radon values. Using the same 50 samples, cations and anions were analyzed and data plotted in the Piper and Stiff diagrams by the Qualigraf software. The static level evaluation, allowed characterize the behavior of the groundwater flow in the study area

In addition, in these already subverted narrative forms, other manifestations can still be distinguished, such as comic books, sermons, parables, drawings, etc., verifying a multifaceted composition that departs from traditional conventions and forms. Combining this narrative form variety and the author’s keenly critical perception in relation to the mystification of Portuguese history, our aim is to consider that the creation of a Portuguese identity, identity based in people beliefs, myths and legends, is unmasked by Cardoso Pires through the transgression of traditional narrative forms, using irony and parody. The author makes use of these resources to recover and almost simultaneously subvert texts that focus on being Luso, which exalt the Portuguese nation, and tend to form roots and fix ossified structures, requiring constant review
