Sida vid sida för rättvisans skull : En studie av Sveriges främsta journalister på film ur ett genusperspektiv / Side by side for the cause of justice : A study of the largest journalists in Swedish movies from a gender perspectiveAndersson, Camilla, Gustafsson, Johanna January 2011 (has links)
The last ten years two major movies about journalists have been made in Sweden; Sprängaren and Män som hatar kvinnor. This study has looked closer at the heroine Annika Bengtsson and the hero Mikael Blomkvist from these two movies. Since movies do have great influence on how we see the world it is important to find out how these characters are being portrayed. Also, in a time when journalism is about to become a female dominant occupation it is relevant to see how the female journalist compares to the male. It is important to ensure that the films do not give a wrongful picture of male and female journalists. Women should not only be an inferior object, and the man should not be a dominant and macho-man. In our study we found that these movies have come a long way from the stereotypes of men and women that the audience has become used to. The male hero has a soft side and needs help from a strong female character to manage while the female hero is a strong woman who can manage on her own. And it is their ability to step away from the stereotypes that in the end helps them get the scoop and defeat their antagonists.

REPRESENTAÇÕES DO FEMININO NA CAMPANHA ELEITORAL DE 2006: YEDA CRUSIUS EM FOTOGRAFIAS JORNALÍSTICAS DE ZERO HORAFabricio, Laura Elise de Oliveira 03 March 2009 (has links)
The field of the journalism, through his regramentos, builds representations of the actors what it composes too many fields through his journalistic devices, like the photography. Historical and culturally, the field of the politics from Rio Grande do Sul was always predominated by
masculine actors. However, in the contemporaneousness this scenery is changing: the women hurl themselves as you apply and, in the last election to the Government of Rio Grande do Sul, she is elected the first woman. In this context, this dissertation is proposed to analyse as
the representations of the feminine one are built in the journalistic photographies of Zero Hour during the electoral campaign of 2006 to the government of Rio Grande do Sul and, for so much, it makes use of the figure of applies Yeda Crusius like object of analysis. From
analyses of direction it was noticed semiotics that, in the journalistic photographies that portray Yeda Crusius, there is no the construction of a representation of the feminine one, but appropriations of diversified representations of the feminine one like strategy of symbolic construction of the figure of the woman in the politics.

A informação jornalística em rádios de fronteira: a questão da binacionalidade em Ponta Porã-Pedro Juan Caballero e Corumbá-Puerto Quijarro / The journalistic information in border radios: the inquiry of the binationality in Ponta-Porã - Pedro Juan Caballero and Corumbá-Puerto QuijarroDaniela Cristiane Ota 20 September 2006 (has links)
The research aimed at analyzing the journalistic content of Cerro Cora and FM Melodia radio stations and certifying that the medium represents in a symbolic manner the culture and identity of the neighbouring communities. The analysis took place on the borders of Ponta Porã-Juan Caballero and Corumbá-Puerto Quijarro and the choice of the research objects, i.e. the neighbouring communities\' radio stations, happened thanks to their binational characteristic. Since it is a borderline region of Brazil, with countries separated by land borders and with no actual barriers between them, the exchange between communities is common-place and thus such municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraguay and Bolivia are very peculiar subjects to research. Hence, the goal here is to identify whether the language and experiences of the population of the borders are present in the broadcast of the radio stations.

Análisis de la construcción de las infografías sobre el coronavirus en el Perú, publicadas en el portal web El Comercio y La República durante los tres primeros meses del año 2020 / Analysis of the construction of journalistic infographics on the coronavirus in Peru, published on the web portal El Comercio y La República during the first three months of 2020Chumacero Vilcarromero, Jocelyn Arlette 25 October 2021 (has links)
Reporting on specialized topics is usually not that easy given the complexity of the terms and, sometimes, the transmission of the information can be so clear to the reader. However, there are journalistic genres such as infographics whose function is to facilitate the reader's grasp of the message, through a concise, clear and direct content, and also by the harmonious combination of different textual and visual elements. Precisely, to develop this research, the journalistic infographic has been chosen to analyze its construction through the identification of its classification, its journalistic aspects, its textual elements and its visual elements that compose it, in infographics focused on a relevant event worldwide such as the coronavirus in Peru. A total of 14 infographics were analyzed (7 from the El Comercio web portal and 7 from the La Republica web portal) published during the first three months of 2020, where it is verified that both media built their infographics based on thematic milestones of the coronavirus; In other words, as the events progressed, more components were incorporated onto the scene. / Tesis

Mediating a global health crisis : Challenges for journalists in Germany during the COVID-19 pandemicSchwarz, Salome January 2022 (has links)
The COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the most impactful crises in recent times, with severe implications for people around the globe. Since its beginnings in late 2019, the crisis has been closely monitored by news media, which function as one of the primary information sources for the public. This study looks at the many different challenges the COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon journalism and how journalists reporting on the pandemic have been experiencing them. The project is based on the central premise that journalism holds an especially important position within the socio-political make-up of democratic societies, and employs the social responsibility theory of the press to argue that journalists should act with responsibility to the public in mind and stick to generally agreed on professional values. It further assumes, based on previous research, that a crisis calls for increased social responsibility but at the same time creates challenges for journalists, which put their ability to adhere to established standards at risk. To determine, which challenges of this sort journalists have experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic and how these have manifested, a series of semi-structured interviews has been conducted with German journalists who have been involved in reporting on the pandemic. The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused major disruptions to newsrooms and has proven challenging to journalists in various ways regarding their work routines, physical safety, and emotional labour, which at times even put their ability to perform expected professional roles in jeopardy. This project adds to a growing body of research on COVID-19 from a journalism studies perspective, which can help determine grievances for the profession that need to be addressed and provide points of departure on how to deal with and prepare for future crises.

An examination of digital news reporting on professional journalism practice : a study of fake sport news and websitesSingh, Kimara January 2020 (has links)
Thesis (M.A. (Media Studies)) -- University of Limpopo, 2020 / This study examined the effect of digital news reporting on professional journalistic practice focusing on fake sport news websites. It evolves from the fact that, despite the progressive benefits of the digital revolution, the rise of fake news websites has become common practice associated with the clickbait that spreads rumours posted on unofficial accounts often with a journalistic pretext. The aim of this study was to examine how fake digital sport news reporting impacts on professional journalistic practice. The objectives of the study were: to describe the nature of internet-based fake sport news stories and websites; to assess the credibility of sport news disseminated through fake news sites, and to determine the implications of fake sport news stories and websites on standard news practice.
The descriptive design within the qualitative interpretive paradigm was used to determine the negative effect that fake sport news has on professional journalistic practice. Qualitative content analysis of ten sample news excerpts and in-depth interviews with sixteen expert informants were complementarily used to collect data. Interpretive phenomenological analysis was applied to generate discursive themes which yielded the study outcomes. The data from screenshots and interviews were collected, corroborated and analysed, using content and thematic analysis techniques. After analysing both the screenshots and the interviews, a total of eight themes emerged from the study.
The study notes how fake sport news and its associated litany of misinformation and/or disinformation has contributed to the creation of false hypes about sports news to the detriment of professional journalism practice. The study revealed that fake sport news is prominent on social media and poses a major challenge to journalistic integrity and credibility. From the various screenshots, fake headlines were identified as a contributing factor to the rise of fake news stories. It was also found that fake sport news has a negative effect on journalism practice, as it spreads lies, makes people more interested in emotional stories and forces credible news agencies to also use sensational headlines to gain the attention of an audience. The interviews revealed that characteristics of fake sport news stories are exaggerated, misleading, have no source or attributions, no by-lines or unknown authors and misrepresent so-called facts.

vi
The study recommends that research, fact-checking, naming and shaming people/websites that popularize fake sport news should be made known to the public; proper training and assertion of certain rules, regulations and ethics for new reporters and journalists to follow and stick to; there must be thorough research and cross checking of information gained from a secondary source; a governing body to possibly monitor and crack down on serial propagators and spreaders of fake sports news stories; sport journalists should alert readers of fake sport news and fake sport news websites, as these are common in sport due to the popularity of sport news sites; and sport journalists should stay away from reporting/re-writing and sharing fake news in order to maintain credibility and ethics in sport news reporting.
