STADSRUM : en upplevelse påverkad av kulör

Predoianu, Denisse January 2016 (has links)

Höglund, Mathias January 2021 (has links)
This master essay is about the process as a motive and how I collaborate with the material. How the paintings go from being constructions to becoming paintings where the color, gestures and mark making creates a content in itself. The fiction of materials.   The essay begins with me in my studio working on a painting. Trying to solve the problems in the painting. This section ends with me flipping the painting upside-down, realising that the problem I had was gone.   The next chapter is about what happens during the process from the first idea to the finished painting. How visual ideas appear in front of me in my everyday life in small details. I compare the ideas with the miracles in the 2006 movie Wristcutters a Love Story and how all the characters see small miracles; no one cares, exact the main character Zia. I also write about the Art Concrete-movment from the 1930s and there attitude towards painting.    In the end of this chapter I write about Günther Förgs artistry; his fascination of the early modernist painters and how he break their rules.    The next chapter is about the importens of AbEx (abstract expressionism), the artistry of Joan Mitchell and how the rapper MF DOOM influens my way of working with painting.   The essay end with me talking about Maria Lassnigs influence over my own artistry. How she haunts me. In this chapter I also write about my background; my home town Gävle, the importens of the HipHop subculture and feeling a bit odd in my hometown. The very last thing is a quote about painting by Amy Sillman from her essay ”On color” and how that quote led me to where I am now as a painter.

Observations of a Window Frame : About the Importance of a Forgotten Detail

Nilsson, Oskar January 2022 (has links)
Due to the geographical location, the amount of daylight in Sweden varies greatly during the year - the lack of light is part of our everyday life. Regardless of the season, the sun’s position gives a light that seems to fall from the side, it kind of drags itself in through the windows. As a result, it is easily influenced by the surroundings. All the edges, corners and profiles that stand in the way create an endless variety of shades. Given these conditions, it is a good reason to devote time to the detailing of all the parts of a window. In this master’s project, I am directing my gaze towards the window frame and more specifically towards the framework’s profiling. By observing the shape and the color language of different profiles, the perceived contrast between light and shades is noticed and interpreted into new. Based on the qualities of the Nordic light, this project hopes to clarify and show with concrete examples why decision-making around the window frame is crucial for how we perceive the incident light. Relatively small differences in profiling create a large effect in contrasts, I find, and consequently, a more complex window profile enhances the character of the window and the incident light. This project is about looking at something specific, to observe and to explain what already is there.

Subliminal priming : Manipulation till att välja en specifik kulör på plastpåse / Subliminal priming : Manipulation to choose a specific colour on a plastic bag

Nordberg, Rickard January 2014 (has links)
Primed information is more accessible in memory and can thus easily be recognized. Prerequisites for priming include subliminal perception, goals, reliability, non alert and non habitually. The study aims to gain broader understanding regarding subliminal primings influence. The purpose of this thesis was to see whether the customers in a store could be manipulated, primed, to take a specific colour on plastic bags at checkout and if there are any gender differences in the effect of priming. Participants were 490 customers, of whom 333 men. Two different signs with different colours were placed at the checkout. It was noted if customers chose the primed colour of the plastic bag or not. The results showed a significant difference, the participants chose the same colour on the plastic bag as the sign. No gender differences were found. Research shows that priming effects can be opposed if people make themselves aware of potential unconscious influences.
