Miljömässigt hållbar last mile delivery i e-handelsbranschen : En fallstudie av Nordicfeel / Environmentally Sustainable Last Mile Delivery in the E-commerce Industry

Wohlfeil, Maria, Kovacic, Ida, Andersson, Trine January 2024 (has links)
Background: Nordicfeel is a leading e-commerce company in the beauty industry. The e-commerce market plays a central role in maintaining and developing strategies aligned with environmental sustainability, particularly in last mile delivery. Currently, Nordicfeel outsources its last mile delivery to external logistics companies, which consequently have the responsibility to implement innovative and environmentally friendly solutions to reduce environmental impact and attract an increasingly environmentally conscious customer base. Purpose: The purpose is to identify deficiency in Nordicfeel´s current process of selecting freight companies. Subsequently, improvement proposals for the identified deficiencies will be formulated, based on environmental sustainability.  Method: This study employs a qualitative case study approach. Pattern matching has been utilized as the method of analysis. Drawing on a theoretical framework and the sustainability reports of freight companies, a template for supplier assessment has been developed. Results: After the study, various deficiencies were unveiled within Nordicfeel's sustainability framework: multifarious freight partnerships, ambiguities in delineating the sustainability paradigm, a conspicuous absence of proactive initiatives, and the collaboration with Bring Three of these deficiencies underwent an analysis, culminating in proposed remedial strategies. The findings advocate for Nordicfeel to streamline its network of freight partners, proactively instigate sustainability initiatives and impose environmental sustainability requirements on Bring.

Rodrigues, Priscilla Borges de Freitas 23 March 2017 (has links)
Submitted by admin tede (tede@pucgoias.edu.br) on 2017-06-29T13:25:06Z No. of bitstreams: 1 PRISCILLA BORGES DE FREITAS RODRIGUES.pdf: 3855875 bytes, checksum: 11d800e90a7d8e85c9925dfdaa032c34 (MD5) / Made available in DSpace on 2017-06-29T13:25:07Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 PRISCILLA BORGES DE FREITAS RODRIGUES.pdf: 3855875 bytes, checksum: 11d800e90a7d8e85c9925dfdaa032c34 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2017-03-23 / This research had as main point to use the Building Information Modeling (BIM), as an integrated form with the logic of the Last Planner system in relation to the planning and control of the production in companies of the civil construction sector and, with that, a model that promotes this integration in order to improve efficiency in medium and short term planning, where the construction of the integration model involves the development of a plug-in for Revit®, capable of making the information available in a database also fed by other software, here titled “L7”, through which it becomes possible to insert the analytic structure of a work and other information about the consumption of the inputs and, thus, make it possible to establish the relation between each geometric element and their needs for manpower and material, making explicit the restrictions when training the Lookahead through visual management. The methodological approach adopted was Design Science Research, whose main objective is to develop an artifact capable of solving a real and relevant problem and, thus, to promote the advance of the theoretical knowledge about the subject and to contribute to the operation within the companies. The evaluation of the constructed model was made through an empirical study in a work into a mall of a construction company in Goiás, followed by two services in the formation of the Lookahead of the month of January and the work week plan of the four weeks. It was possible, through visual color management, to check tasks that had material and/or labor constraints, facilitating the formatting of medium-term planning and improving the efficiency of short-term planning.

Last / The provocative body : A discourse analytical study of the art criticism concerning the exhibitions Paul McCarthy Head Shop/Shop Head and the Nationalmuseum’s Lust & Last

Svensson, Stefanie January 2013 (has links)
The exhibitions, Paul McCarthy’s Head Shop/Shop Head shown in 2006 and the Nationalmuseum’s Lust & Last shown in 2011, are in centre of this essay. The aim of the essay is to perform a discourse analytical study of a selection of art critical texts concerning these two exhibitions. The exhibitions exemplify what I have chosen to call “The provocative discourse of art”. I want to examine how a selection of art critics received the exhibitions, and also to present a view of “the provocative discourse of art”.

Paleo-proxies for the thermocline and lysocline over the last glacial cycle in the Western Tropical Pacific

Leech, Peter Joseph 20 September 2013 (has links)
The shape of the thermocline and the depth of the lysoline in the western tropical Pacific are both influenced by the overlying atmosphere, and both the shape of thermocline and the depth of the lysocline can be reconstructed from foraminifera-based paleo-proxies. Paleoclimate proxy evidence suggests a southward shift of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) during times of Northern Hemisphere cooling, including the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), 19-23 ka before present. However, evidence for movement over the Pacific has mainly been limited to precipitation reconstructions near the continents, and the position of the Pacific marine ITCZ is less well constrained. In this study, I address this problem by taking advantage of the fact that the upper ocean density structure reflects the overlying wind field. I reconstruct changes in the upper ocean density structure during the LGM using oxygen isotope measurements on the planktonic foraminifera G. ruber and G. tumida in a transect of sediment cores from the Western Tropical Pacific. The data suggest a ridge in the thermocline just north of the present-day ITCZ persists for at least part of the LGM, and a structure in the Southern Hemisphere that differs from today. The reconstructed structure is consistent with that produced in a General Circulation Model with both a Northern and Southern Hemisphere ITCZ. I also attempt to reconstruct the upper ocean density structure for Marine Isotope Stages 5e and 6, the interglacial and glacial periods, respectively, previous to the LGM. The data show a Northern Hemisphere thermocline ridge for both of these periods. There is insufficient data to draw any conclusions about the Southern Hemisphere thermocline. Using the same set of sediment cores, I also attempt to reconstruct lysocline depth over the last 23,000 years using benthic foraminiferal carbon isotope ratios, planktonic foraminiferal masses, and sediment coarse fraction percentage. Paleoclimate proxy evidence and modeling studies suggest that the deglaciation following the LGM is associated with a deepening of the lysocline and an increase in sedimentary calcite preservation. Although my data lack the resolution to constrain the depth of the lysocline, they do show an increase in calcite preservation during the last deglaciation, consistent with lysocline deepening as carbon moves from the deep ocean to the atmosphere.

A History of the Natal Provincial Division of the Supreme Court of South Africa during the Judge Presidency of Richard Feetham (1930-1939) : with particular reference to the bench and bar.

De Beer, Marina. January 1988 (has links)
Richard Feetham was Judge President of the Natal Provincial Division from 1 May 1930 to 18 July 1939. He succeeded Dove Wilson who was an able but not a very learned or dynamic Judge President. Thus, at the time of his appointment the Natal Court and its judgments were treated with little respect by the other provincial divisions. Feetham JP, unlike his predecessor, was not only a scholar with a towering intellect but a man endowed with outstanding leadership qualities. He was thus ideally suited to bring about a change for the better in the status of the Natal Court. He did this by taking a dynamic lead and presided over and delivered a high proportion of the courts' judgments. He also set his brethren an excellent example by the high standard he set for himself and his court and which they emulated. This thesis thus also covers the careers of these puisne and acting puisne judges and their contribution towards the better administration of justice in Natal. In 1930 there existed in Natal a disinct system of dual practice with a de facto Bar. This system had been a vexed question in the minds of Natal lawyers for two decades but when Feetham JP was confronted with it he immediately addressed the controversial issue and brought about the necessary reforms to divide the legal profession and bring Natal into line with the rest of South Africa. This reform raised the quality of pleading and manner in which the law was presented. It also provided the Natal Bench with able personnel for the future from within Natal. Accordingly this thesis also assesses the careers of the main legal practitioners of that period and their contribution towards the development of the administration of justice in Natal. In less than ten years Feetham JP thus transformed the Natal Provincial Division from being weak and ineffectual to a position where it became a division respected for its Bench, judgments and legal profession. During the course of time history has confirmed the overall significance of Richard Feetham's Judge Presidency. / Thesis (LL.M.)-University of Natal, Durban, 1988.

Sorg, terapi och omöjliga beslut – erfarenheten The Last of Us : Inlevelse, experientialitet och identitetsutvecklande insikter i narrativa datorspel / Sorrow, Therapy and Impossible Decisions – Experiencing The Last of Us : Immersion, experientiality and identity-defining insights in narrative computer games

Nielsen Isho, Paul January 2018 (has links)
Our explorations of the possible worlds of fiction help increase our understanding of each other, the world around us, and ourselves. The purpose of this study is to examine how narrative computer games may provide identity-defining insights and which literary teaching methods are beneficial to facilitate students’ access to them. To illustrate the learning potential of the genre this study examines the narrative computer game The Last of Us (2013). On the basis of cognitive literary theories relating to the concepts of immersion and narrative experientiality this study finds that the identity developmental potential of narrative computer games relies on a sense of fictional experiential learning. The inaugurating move in this learning is the player’s immersion in the story of the game, the so-called narrative immersion. As the players therein become emotionally involved in the player-characters’ lives they are exposed to a sense of shared experience with said characters. As this shared embodied experience within the storyworld is accompanied by the medium-specific interactive nature of computer games, players are also stimulated to project their own prior knowledge and experiences as they form assessments based on their subjective impressions of the storyworld. In a cognitive simulation, this interaction between the players’ prior experiential background and the experiences of the protagonists provides an avenue for players to reflect on how they would react if they were faced with a similar situation. The culturally mediated experiences the players thus gather may influence, redefine and expand the players’ current world of knowledge. In order to pave the students’ way to acquire these identity-defining insights, this study finds that pedagogical practices that favour a climate where students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the storyworld and attribute their prior experiential backgrounds to their fictive experiences therein are key factors that help unlock the full learning potential of narrative computer games.

Pastorální rehabilitace v paliativní péči o nemocné / Pastoral rehabilitation in lenitixe care of patiens

KAŠPARŮ, Mária January 2007 (has links)
At present and in this country, the concept of spiritual support, pastoral support, or spiritual rehabilitation of the sick is not entirely clear, both in terms of the content and form. Despite this vagueness, spiritual support of the sick forms an inseparable part of so-called holistic, i.e., comprehensive approach to care for human beings. In any case, this type of care is not linked to any religious denomination; rather, we have to understand it as assistance in the area of finding one{\crq}s way (orientation) in the sense of valuating one{\crq}s reality. Namely, patients often seek a spiritual person, be it s professional or layman, who specializes in spiritual rehabilitation. Even patients who claim to be atheist or agnostic need to discuss problems of existential or philosophical nature, which they are unable to find the answer for by themselves. Sometimes, they wish to address issues that had been hidden, while they were enjoying good health, as supposedly "superfluous issues", but due to their sickness, they came to the surface and the patients are short of answers and unable to deal with them. The Master{\crq}s Thesis is divided into two parts: The first, theoretical part focuses on forms and solutions of spiritual rehabilitation, whereas the second part contains statistical comparisons of approaches, opinions, and attitudes on these issues on the part of medical personnel working in hospices and other facilities. In this Thesis, the above can be summed up into three basic factors: 1) Pastoral medicine offered as one of the options for those who are gravely ill or dying and seek "spiritual rehabilitation" and fulfillment of their spiritual desires; 2) Facilitation of access to information on the interaction of medical fields of specialty and psychology with spiritual guidance; 3) Documentation of the spectrum of opinions and experience that individual medical workers have about spiritual rehabilitation.

Konceptframtagning av samordnad varudistribution : En fallstudie för implementering av ett hållbart ”last mile” / Concept development of coordinated product distribution

Gustafsson, Henrik, von Schenck, Malva January 2020 (has links)
The goods distribution companies are today controlled by customer needs and environmental goals. New customer needs that have arisen the past years are that the goods distribution should be ecologically sustainable and leave the lowest possible ecological footprint. There are several possible vehicle and routing concepts as well as system perspectives appropriate for product distribution. This study aims to investigate the appropriate concept that meets customer needs. KPI: s are used to measure the performance of companies. One problem with goods distribution by automobile transportation is the accessibility in the traffic that follows. Congestion, pedestrian- and one-way streets as well as to park decrease accessibility. The problem with replacing automobile vehicles with the chosen vehicle concept in this study, electric-powered cargo bikes, is that productivity risks to be degraded from a system perspective since the cargo volume is significantly smaller with an electric-powered bicycle. But the customer's framework conditions need to be followed and the goods distribution companies should also consider that environmental zones could be introduced in their municipalities. Various vehicles that are being used today worldwide to deliver goods are heavy trucks, light trucks, and bicycles. These deliveries are routed with a route optimization program. Vehicle load carriers are designed differently and therefore have different load capacities. High load capacity is an advantageous characteristic of productivity. With bicycle implementation, a reload point may be necessary if there is too long of a distance between the distribution center and the area of the recipient. This study is based on an explorative research purpose and an inductive research approach. The set questions of the study were answered mainly through qualitative research methods, but also quantitative research methods were used. The results show that an electric-powered cargo bicycle, called the Starke cycle, will be proposed to be implemented as a vehicle concept together with a movable transshipment point and a garage for the bicycles. A conclusion drawn by the study is that the customer's main need is to achieve an ecologically sustainable distribution. Suggestions for further research are to investigate more in route optimization and to investigate robotic solutions used for last mile.

A Study in Cultural Conflict: the Controversy Surrounding Martin Scorsese's The Last Temptation of Christ

Scheffler, Lisa K. (Lisa Kathryn) 12 1900 (has links)
When the filmed version of The Last Temptation of Christ was released in the United States, it met with significant protests from conservative Christians who felt it was blasphemous. Using the controversy surrounding the film and its reception in Austin, Texas, this is a case study in censorship as a social process and in the cultural conflict it signifies. Certain societal factors must converge to create an art controversy. Through an examination of the film, the groups involved in the protest, and the social and political climate at the time, some of these factors are described. Imbedded in this controversy are the underlying tensions that permeate many modern cultural debates: shifting ideas of the sacred and the profane and definitions of moral authority.

The role of Instagram Influencers in Last Chance Tourism : Through applying users perception and interaction of Instagram Influencers’ photos of Last Chance Destinations

Jensen, Maria Louise January 2021 (has links)
While theory argues that Instagram influencers are beneficial for rural and sustainable tourism in gaining attention and awareness, they also can generate an increased tourist flow. A newly published article by Palazzo, et al., 2021, mentions that while they have focused on the bright sides of Instagram Influencers within tourism, they have excluded matters of adverse effects. Something that could likely create a situation of overtourism, as increased tourism flows can be hard to manage. Due to little research of Last Chance Destinations (LCDs), a similar theory will be applied, as these destinations are already considered damaged. Due to the study gap and the tiny amount of empery within this field, people between 18-25 with interest in travel content on Instagram have been interviewed to get more in-depth answers. It has been discovered that Instagram Influencers play little to no role in increased tourism flows to LCDs. People are only inclined to visit LCD after engaging with a destination post if they already have existing motivations to visit it. Instead, influencers serve the purpose and potential ofeducating Instagram users about sustainable tourism principles and climate change.
