Currently, the more cities expand in size, the greater is the need for food supplies to feed the families who inhabit them. Therefore, the theoretical framework is formed by different key concepts. One of the main ones being Urban Agriculture, which can be described as the exercise of different activities related to the production of food and conservation of natural resources inside the urban centers and their suburban areas. It started out as an effective strategy of food supplying and creating jobs, besides contributing to food security and improving the cities populations nutrition. The second main key concept is Territorial Development. This concept is used through various approaches, all agreeing that it is possible for society to achieve a more equal, sustainable and socially accessible project of development through the actors, the people of a specific territory, their assets, potentialities and vocations. For this qualitative research the methodology employed consisted in participant observation, semi-structured interviews and life history research. Among the main results, it was found that the urban agricultural workers are men and women who come from towns in inland Santa Catarina (the state where Itajai is on), thus confirming the hypothesis that there is a close bond in between the urban agricultural workers and the process of rural exodus. The fact that the production of vegetables, herbal medicines, fruit, ornamental plants and pets in Itajai takes place in yards and community or institutional gardens classifies it as a Urban Agriculture practice. The conclusion is that these urban agricultural areas are places of great importance to those involved, to the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity, to the conserving of traditional knowledge and are also fundamental in the search for sustainability in this city / O objetivo desta dissertação é investigar as práticas de Agricultura Urbana desenvolvidas em Itajaí.

Zeballos Videla, Mabel Luz January 2013 (has links)
The main object of this dissertation is the current Uruguayan migration. This is the result of an ethnographic research carried out between 2009 and 2012, at the Brazillian cities of Porto Alegre and Florianópolis, and at Barcelona and other cities of Catalonia, Spain. I analyze the ways of dwelling of my research partners, specially, their sociability practices, their everyday pathways, and the practices oriented towards their country of bird. At the same time, I consider these located experiences as part of a transnationalized life experience. I focus on this experience by defining relations through my ethnographic observations and the references of translocal ties of kinship, professional or political nature, displayed in their practices and narratives. I also focus on the images that compose these narratives, as a part of a collective memory, seen through a transnational lens. I dealt with some individual and collective trajectories, looking for the defining bounds of the transnational social field comprised in the category “Departamento 20”. This category enters the field as a result of the recent population policy from Uruguayan national state. It allows me to reflect about the role of the state in the transnational social field in which the studied subjects participate. In the other hand, I pay attention to the plurality of the researched universe.

Decker Neto, Norberto January 2017 (has links)
This paper investigates the participation of catholic organizations in the development of social policies aimed at immigrants and refugees residing in Brazil. I discuss the problems of the government and sovereignty and their relationship with humanitarian and assistance actions. The monitoring of the activities of the Permanent Forum on Human Mobility of Rio Grande do Sul (FPMH/RS) in Porto Alegre allowed an approach to the universe of religious actors who work to promote citizenship and to protect imigrants. In specific terms, the thesis analyzes the emergence and expansion of a catholic congregation whose charism is founded on migrations; these are the scalabrinian priests and sisters, an order founded at the end of the 19th century by João Batista Scalabrini. The research carried out a mapping of agents and care institutions, focusing on the catholic organizations that lead the field of humanitarian care. Hence the relative importante given to the Missão Paz, an institution located in São Paulo which welcomed most of the so-called “new immigrants”. Faced with the growth of the Caribbean and African flows, I observed both a perspective that defined these movements as a “threat” as also a discourse by which it was intended to oppose a civilized world and a barbaric world For this reason, one of the points I emphasize in this work is the complicity between civilization and brutality. Immigration is a historically controversial and complex issue. I try to demonstrate that this field has become different in the last two centuries by the inclusion of new clothes and conceptual references, maintaining, however, continuity with stigmatizing logics of the past. One issue that mobilized me to carry out this study was to investigate the technologies of control and standardization of the conduct of the populations in mobility, as well as the regime of power/knowledge involved in the calculation of the containment and solidarity in the humanitarian government. In short, guided by an ethnographic and historical perspective, I examine: i) the interface between international policies and humanitarian practices, with particular emphasis on combating trafficking in persons and; ii) the way in wich social actors, especially religious ones, convert dominant discourses into micropractices by handling moral arguments that, in large part, underpin the political decisions related to the contemporary phenomenon of human mobility.

Desigualdade regional de renda e migrações : mobilidade intergeracional educacional e intrageracional de renda no Brasil

Netto Junior, José Luis da Silva January 2008 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze the relationship between educational variables and income inequality in Brazil and its repercussion related to educational and income mobility. The specific goal is to verify how the income mobility and human capital accumulation behave considering the regional differences in Brazil and migrant and native population. The results show a non-linear and positive relationship between income and human capital inequality. In the areas where the human capital inequality is higher, parents with no schooling have more influence than in the places where educational inequality is lower. At same time, the income mobility is higher in the Center and Southeast regions e lower in Northeast. The migrant parents with low schooling have less influence over the child schooling in comparison with the equivalents in their origin region. population has higher income mobility than non-migrant.

Les faubourgs des villes modernes en France (XVIe-début du XIXe siècle) : étude historique et géographique / The suburbs of modern towns (XVIth-early XIXth century) : historical et geographical study

Jambon, Yannick 11 December 2010 (has links)
Modern towns are generally pictured like a group of inhabitants enjoying common privileges and living behind fortifications. This simple definition sounds limited and restrictive. Indeed, at that time the urban territory was not limited to the symbolical limits represented by the fortifications. Morphologically, fiscally as well as economically, the suburbs were the natural extensions of the city beyond the original territory initially defined by the the plans of the walls. This doctoral thesis indeed highlights the study of these spaces which have been ignored in the historiography and thereby redefines the notion of the modern city in France.

Les réfugiés protestants de la Châtellenie de Lille en Hollande (milieu XVIème - début XVIIIème siècles) / Protestant refugees from Lille Châtellenie to Holland (middle XVI-early eighteenth centuries)

Desrousseaux, Alain 07 December 2016 (has links)
It is relevant to study more specifically the Huguenot '' northerner '' refuge which was created in Holland on 1580s to the mid-seventeenth century. Protestantism was very active and dynamic in the old Holland. The most active social classes were often Protestant. Following the revolt of the Netherlands which erupted in 1566, the Spanish repression provoked forced departures to England and the Netherlands. In Leiden, after the lifting of the Spanish siege and the liberation of the city in 1574 Protestant refugees from the Netherlands from the south, still Spanish, came to settle in this city. Moreover the end of persecution, stopping persecution in the country had allowed the return of some of them. The aim is to study these refugees from those territories which constitut now the Nord-Pas de Calais and specially the châtellenie of Lille. In doing so, their social origin will be analysed, as well as their migration and the activities in Leiden. It is relevant to study their integration into the host society, their contribution to the vitality of the Netherlands and the city of Leiden in particular, their contribution to the cultural Golden Age of the Netherlands. Besides the churches of refuge had maintained ties with communities remained in France. Some refugees from these territories had an exceptional destiny. Some left Leiden to the New World and contributed to the populating of America and South Africa, including the creation of New York. It will also provide a more complete inventory of these exceptional destinies.

Les femmes de l'exil chilien : de l'Unité populaire vers la terre d'asile : une analyse en termes de rapports sociaux / Women of the Chilean exile : from the Unidad popular to the country of exile : an analysis in termes of social relations

Garcia, Yvette Marcela 12 December 2014 (has links)
The Chilean exile stemmed from two major episodes: the Popular Unity (1970-1973), as a founding experience, and the repression orchestrated by the military dictatorship (1973-1989). The political aspects of this exile have been extensively addressed with the figure of the refugee generally perceived as masculine-neutral. Consequently, the involvement of Chilean women in collective action, their entry into the labour market or their participation in the migratory process are often ignored. The Chilean women in exile went through experiences specific to their gender. However, these experiences differed depending on their various social affiliations. This doctoral work endeavours to analyse these women’s familial, professional, and militant paths from their situation in Chile to their arrival in France, expounding both the subjective level of their personal experiences and perceptions and the objective level of the context and various social relations at play. This work focuses specifically on structuring social relations (social class, age, gender, and race) as well as the varying strategies and resources employed by women.

A transdisciplinary look on the migration phenomenom in Brazil and France : premises for a legal system legitimized by the otherness and human rights

Silva Da Anunciacao, Clodoaldo 10 November 2016 (has links)
In a post-modem, multicultural, ambivalent and contingent environment, it is questioned in this study how to establish premises for a normative model to international migration, focusing on otherness and Human Rights; a model which can bring benefits to the countries of origin, destination and, especially for the migrant? lt was used a bibliographie and qualitative approach based on phenomenological and subject henneneutics to investigate the migration as a global complex and a transdisciplinary phenomenon. This research debates cultures, identities, diversity, otherness, and Human Rights to update concepts and institutions that capture the breadth and depth of human mobility spectrum in its potential. The aim is to identify premises for a legitimate normativity in a transcivilizational perspective based on human dignity, ethics of the species and Human Rights which regulates the global migration and provides benefits to the parties. A comparison between France and Brazil as representatives of the global North and South is made to demonstrate that the migration management, despite the predominance of humanized speech, state and social practices do not match the rhetoric disseminated. Results shows premises philosophical, economic, sociological, politic and legal that identify a legitimate regulation that effectively includes the migrant as a human persan at the center of discussions and decisions as addressed and author in the sense of belonging of immigration policies.

Fronteras y zonas de contacto entre las escrituras coreográficas y poéticas : lenguajes del cuerpo a la palabra en la obra de Andrés Neuman / Frontières et zones de contact entre les écritures chorégraphiques et poétiques : langages du corps à la parole dans l’oeuvre d’Andrés Neuman / Frontiers and points of contact between the choreographic and poetic writings : embodied and verbals languages in the literary work of Andrés Neuman

Naef, Aude 05 December 2016 (has links)
The dialogue between poetic and choreographic writings offers the possibility of a reflexion about the fundament of the artistic creation and allows observing the existing distance between the subject and the world that embraces him. Both kinds of writing imply movement, as an image of a displacement of the usual connection to the world. The poetic sight focuses on a landscape’s perimeter, in a spatial as well as in a conceptual level, and generates a plurality of readings andinterpretations. In the field of dance, the transformation of a usual sensation to a gesture filled with intentions, conveys the signified and opens an interpretative line. In his literary work, the writer and poet Andrés Neuman questions, in a formal as well as in a thematic level, the notion of frontier and the simultaneity of temporalities and spaces. This opens a dialogue with dance expression and the poetic of the haiku, both considered as an instantaneouswriting that only lets the immaterial memory of their image, as a trace of their emission.
