Do Preferences of Performance Feedback Matter

Perdeep Singh Sidhu, Samantha Kaur Sidhu 05 1900 (has links)
Feedback is discussed in many disciplines. In behavior analysis, it has been discussed in terms of its functions, many coming to different conclusions. The present study evaluated whether therapists' preferred temporal and format of feedback shifted or changed during acquisition or maintenance of skills implementing a tact program using a token economy system after a brief exposure to all possible feedback combinations. Three participants completed a questionnaire before they were exposed to a feedback sampling phase and preferred feedback phase. Preferred way of recieving feedback was asked at the beginning of each session. Two out of three participants switched preferences after achieving mastery of task. Task mastery may make feedback delivered at the end of a session more desirable while task acquisition may make feedback delivered at the end of a trial more valuable. Limitations and future research were discussed.

The unique factors affecting employee performance in non-profit organisations

Tinofirei, Charity 11 1900 (has links)
The research explored unique performance enhancing or inhibiting factors among Zimbabwean employees in non-profit organisations in Harare. Two research questions were formulated: “Are there unique work ethics inherent in employees in the non-profit sector?” The second research question is “What unique variables motivate and affect workers in the nonprofit sector?” The hypothesis assumed was that “the workplace performance of employees in the non-profit sector is affected by and dependent on unique factors that apply in the non-profit sector and not in profit sectors”. The analysis of the research sample identified unique performance factors: demotivation due to the absence of automatic promotions for high performing employees; opportunities for the advancement of employees through a policy of competitive recruitment and growth opportunities for local staff who can apply for international positions within the organisation. The hypothesis was accepted. The researcher recommended that non-profit organisations use creative sector-specific approaches to motivate employee performance. / Public Administration and Management / M. Tech. Läsmotivation och kunskaps-krav – i harmoni? : En studie av hur sex lågstadielärare arbetar med läsmotivation inom ramarna för läroplanen / Motivation to read and required knowledge – in harmony? : A study of how six primary teachers work with motivation to read within the framework of the curriculum

Björnsdotter, Sofia, Kihlman, Sarah January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this study is to gain insight into how teachers work to create motivation to read while simultaneously ensuring that pupils achieve the required knowledge. To investigate this, qualitative interviews were conducted with six teachers at two different schools. The working methods and important aspects that the teachers described were: reading aloud, conversations about books, competitions, accessibility and time for reading. The difficulties they mention are decoding problems, circumstances at home, and the choice of book. They also highlight their own role and that of parents as reading models for the pupils. The results suggest that the teachers do not regard the required knowledge as an obstacle in their work of motivating pupils to read, but they bring up certain problems with assessment. The working methods can affect the inner and the outer motivation in different ways. Motivating the pupils through competitions is problematized on the basis of research.

Motivační faktory ovlivňující práci ředitelů ZUŠ / Motivational factors influencing the work of the primary art schools' principals

Kadeřábek, Antonín January 2015 (has links)
This work focuses on the motivation of the primary art schools' principals in the Region of Karlovy Vary, with the aim of establishing which specific factors influence it. First of all, I defined the factors that, based on expert literature and other research, influence people's motivation. Afterwards I studied how the individual factors motivate the primary art schools' principals in the Region of Karlovy Vary through questions in a survey. All principals in the region were surveyed. The data obtained was analyzed with the use of statistical methods and interpreted afterwards. On the basis of the obtained data analysis, I established for the individual factors how much they influence the motivation of the principals surveyed. There was significant or highly significant impact established for a total of 35 factors. These results were also compared with other research studying similar issues. The results mostly corresponded with four studies, and they differed from one. The results of this work extend the empirical knowledge in this field. They can be used as groundwork for further research or by the bodies establishing the primary art schools or other institutions that step into the work of the primary art schools' principals to increase their motivation.

It is known that the Internet has grown dramatically in the Brazilian business environment. In companies providing electronic services (e-services), the understanding of online buying behavior reinforces the strategies of selling services by the internet channel. In order to enable consumer companies to use and to buy e-services, it is critical that service providers know the motivations, fears and resistances considered when purchasing an online service. For the development of this research, a Theoretical Model was tested contemplating the constructs, Management Initiative, External Factors, Convenience, Safety Data Access, Lack of Time, Lack of Knowledge and Experience, Cost, Perceived Risk, Technological limitations, Purchase Intent and Purchase Behavior, considering their respective cases. To this end, it was conducted a theoretical survey that covers electronic commerce (e-commerce) of products and services, as well as the understanding and analysis of constructs that affect the online services buying behavior. Subsequently, it was carried out a qualitative research from 28 interviews with Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Rio Grande do Sul (RS) to structure the constructs and to build scale. Considering primary the quantitative research, we carried out a survey with a sample of 537 MSEs in RS in order to investigate the issues presented above. The analysis was based on multivariate statistics and held first an exploratory factor analysis to group the variables and to confirm the Theoretical Model. We used the structural equation modeling to test the model, to investigate and to analyze the elements that compose the phenomenon of study. Thus, it was possible to propose a scale to measure the motivating factors and inhibitors, as well as buying behavior and buying intent of e-services for MSEs in B2B market. The research results indicate satisfactory indexes of the Theoretical Model, considering the uniqueness of the scale. Prominent contributions are the proof that Management Initiative, Convenience and Safety Data Access of Online Services are motivating factors that positively influence the Purchase Intent of e-service; Lack of Knowledge and Experience, High Cost and Perceived Risk are inhibiting factors that influence negatively Purchase Intent of e-service for MSEs in B2B market; and Purchase Intent has a positive influence on the Purchase Behavior of studied companies.

The public supply is flawed and inefficient, with poorly motivated professionals. This condictions results in losses arising from deviations, poor condition of inadequate storage and distribution processes. The use of private distribuition through Programa Farmácia Popular do Brasil, to the government's point of view, promotes capillary in attendance, increasing social welfare and reduces costs by using staff. From the point of view of society, increases the drug access to the population. Thus, the program has represented an efficient solution for the distribution of medicines in the country. However, from a business point of view, the results of the use of private mesh for the free distribution of medicines are still less described. This study aims to assess the impacts related to the accreditation in the federal program in independent pharmacy chains and private drugstores free distribution of medicines to the population. It addresses a multifunctional matter, and consist of one program analysis that is part of the federal government guidelines and be an unprecedented nature theme with focus on the business environment. From a business point of view, the service to the distribution of free drug program in compliance with the federal government program may represent a business leverage factor to bring potential customers to the establishment. However, it is necessary adaptations occurring in cash flow management to support the possible delays in the transfer of government and meet the supply of medicines to the growing demands. So drugstores inserted in the pharmaceutical retail sector in developing cities acquire competitive advantage and provide greater value to their customers. The free distribuition project implies generalized net benefits. For the population, the direct and effective access. For the private sector, market expansion and the stability of demand. For the government, the replacement of a strategy that converges to the economic, social and political friction.

Geneves, Simone Lino 31 May 2011 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-12-01T19:18:50Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Simone.pdf: 2152130 bytes, checksum: 244074aaab18345d559cbe9786fcaff6 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2011-05-31 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The aim of this study is to examine aspects of the motivators and constraints of social responsibility strategies in industries in Santa Catarina. The target population for this research was initially composed of 103 companies, however, given the constraints presented in section 3.5 of Chapter 3, the questionnaire for collecting primary data were answered by 16 companies and analyzed quantitatively by means of descriptive analysis, multiple correspondence and Pearson's correlation coefficient test and Fisher. The studied showed that the main practices adopted by firms are related to internal stakeholders and suppliers and the public half of those surveyed consider the social responsibility and sustainable development determinants of competitive advantage. The survey also revealed that the main limiting aspect in decision making about the practices of corporate social responsibility is the scarcity of financial resources and the main driver is the pressure from legislation and regulation related, suggesting a tendency to respond to forces coercive environment. The theories that supported the conclusions of the research were the Institutional Theory and the Resource Based View. Institutional Theory explains that not all organizational actions are due purely rational process, which means that the cognitive theory shows itself in opposition to the rationalist conception of action. The Resource Based View, in turn, deals with issues related to the unique set of company resources available and used in pursuit of achieving competitive advantage and sustainable competitive advantage / O objetivo deste trabalho consiste em analisar os aspectos limitadores e motivadores das estratégias de responsabilidade social nas indústrias catarinenses.
