[pt] Desenvolver e construir uma prótese ou órtese com fácil adaptação para o usuário ainda é um grande desafio na área de engenharia em geral. Além disso, o uso de elementos eletromecânicos insere a autonomia e a portabilidade como fatores de dificuldade na construção. Outro ponto é que variações de fatores humanos, como espasticidade, tônus muscular ou alterações decorrentes de doenças como paralisia cerebral ou lesão nervosa, interferem na construção do aparelho. Deste modo, a construção de uma órtese é um trabalho desafiador e multidisciplinar, que envolve uma análise profunda e detalhada desde a aplicação até a construção propriamente dita. O uso de técnicas de indústria 4.0 para tornar a órtese confortável, leve e de facil uso é fundamental para isso, assim como a análise e processamento de biosinais e o controle, fazendo com que cada etapa estaja ligada e ajustada para que o funcionamento esteja correto. Esta tese tem como objetivo avaliar os métodos teóricos e experimentais de construção e avaliação dinâmica de uma bio-órtese de membros superiores utilizando o conceito de indústria 4.0, processos de manufatura digital, otimização multiestrutural, processamentos de biossinais e técnicas de controle não linear. Este estudo foi motivado pelo avanço do uso da manufatura digital no campo da biomedicina, pelo grande desafio sob o ponto de vista de controle, pela variabilidade que esses processos podem ter na construção de órteses na melhoria da qualidade de vida das pessoas com deficiência. / [en] Developing and building a prosthesis or orthosis with easy adaptation for the user is still a major challenge in the engineering area in general. In addition, the use of electromechanical elements inserts autonomy and portability as factors of difficulty in construction. Another point is that variations in human factors, such as spasticity, muscle tone or changes resulting from diseases such as cerebral palsy or nerve damage, interfere with the construction of the device. Therefore, the construction of an orthosis is a challenging and multidisciplinary job, which involves a deep and detailed analysis from the application to the actual construction. The use of Industry 4.0 techniques to make the orthosis comfortable, lightweight, and easy to use is fundamental to this, as is the analysis and processing of biosignals and control, making sure that each step is connected and adjusted so that it functions correctly. This aims to evaluate the theoretical and experimental methods of construction and dynamic evaluation of a bio-orthosis of upper limbs using the concept of industry 4.0, digital manufacturing processes, multi-structural optimization, bio-signal processes and non-linear control techniques. This study was motivated by the advancement of the use of digital manufacturing in the field of bio-medicine, by the great challenge from the point of view of control, by the variability that these processes can have in the construction of orthoses in improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.

Estimation and dynamic longitudinal control of an electric vehicle with in-wheel electric motors / Estimation et contrôle dynamique longitudinale d’un véhicule électrique avec moteurs-roue

L'objectif principal de cette thèse est l'étude de l'exploitation de systèmes moteurs-roues (machines électriques intégrées à la roue) pour le contrôle de la dynamique véhicule. Cette thèse est issue d'un co-financement (numéro 186-654, 2010-2013) entre le Laboratoire des Signaux et Systèmes (CNRS) et l'Institut Français du Pétrole et Énergies Nouvelles (IFPEN). Les avantages apportés par l'utilisation du moteur électrique sont avérés et de nouvelles techniques de contrôle sont développées pour optimiser son utilisation. Les lois de contrôle basent généralement sur la grandeur principale du moteur électrique: le couple transmis, qui peut être mesuré via le courant consommé. Une autre caractéristique importante du moteur électrique est son temps de réponse, avec le fait qu'il peut produire des couples négatifs, pour ralentir le véhicule, tout en stockant l'énergie. La nouveauté du présent travail est de considérer le moteur-roue électrique comme seul signal de contrôle dans des phases d'accélération et des phases de ralentissement, simplifiant l'architecture de la conception du véhicule et des lois de contrôle. Pour répondre à la demande conducteur tout en préservant un comportement sain du véhicule, des stratégies d'estimation de la limite d'adhérence seront présentées. En fonction de cette adhérence maximale disponible entre la route et les pneus, un couple adéquat sera calculé pour assurer un comportement stable dans des phases d'accélération aussi bien que de freinage. L'aspect critique étudié dans ce travail est la non-linéarité des caractéristiques d'interaction entre la route et le pneu et la complexité de son estimation dans des conditions variables. La stratégie d'estimation devra détecter tous les changements d'adhérence de route et la loi de contrôle calculée devra maintenir la stabilité véhicule même lorsque la friction maximale change. Certaines formes de perturbation et de bruit seront également prises en compte afin de tester la robustesse des approches d'estimation et de contrôle proposés. Parmi les systèmes de sécurité active les plus importants en phase d'accélération, le système de contrôle de traction (TCS) rétablit la traction si les roues commencent à patiner et le programme de stabilité électronique (ESP) intervient pour prévenir une perte menaçante du contrôle latéral du véhicule. Dans le cas du freinage, le système décisif est le système d'antiblocage (ou ABS), qui empêche le blocage des roues. On peut trouver d'autres systèmes embarqués, comme le système de distribution de force de freinage électronique (EBD), qui assure une distribution optimale de la force de freinage transmise aux roues, pour éviter de déraper et assure un ralentissement stable du véhicule. Les systèmes embarqués qui fournissent les estimations doivent être robustes aux bruits de mesure et aux perturbations. A fortiori, ces calculs doivent être faits en temps réel, donc une complexité réduite et une réponse rapide de la loi de contrôle sont nécessaires. Enfin, l'environnement dans lequel le véhicule fonctionne est dynamique, les caractéristiques d'adhérence peuvent varier en fonction de l'état de la route et de la météo. Ainsi, on ne peut prévoir les réactions du conducteur pouvant influencer la réponse globale du véhicule dans des situations d'urgence. Le contrôleur devrait prendre en compte tous ces aspects pour préserver un comportement stable du véhicule. Bien que le contrôle latéral du véhicule présente une importance majeure dans la stabilité globale du véhicule, le présent travail est concentré sur le contrôle longitudinal du véhicule, puisqu'il représente le point de départ de la dynamique véhicule. / The main objective of the present thesis focuses on the integration of the in-wheel electric motors into the conception and control of road vehicles. The present thesis is the subject of the grant 186-654 (2010-2013) between the Laboratory of Signals and Systems (L2S-CNRS) and the French Institute of Petrol and New Energies (IFPEN). The thesis work has originally started from a vehicular electrification project, equipped with in-wheel electric motors at the rear axle, to obtain a full electric urban use and a standard extra-urban use with energy recovery at the rear axle in braking phases. The standard internal combustion engines have the disadvantage that complex estimation techniques are necessary to compute the instantaneous engine torque. At the same time, the actuators that control the braking system have some delays due to the hydraulic and mechanical circuits. These aspects represent the primary motivation for the introduction and study of the integration of the electric motor as unique propelling source for the vehicle. The advantages brought by the use of the electric motor are revealed and new techniques of control are set up to maximize its novelty. Control laws are constructed starting from the key feature of the electric motor, which is the fact that the torque transmitted at the wheel can be measured, depending on the current that passes through the motor. Another important feature of the electric motor is its response time, the independent control, as well as the fact that it can produce negative torques, in generator mode, to help decelerate the vehicle and store energy at the same time. Therefore, the novelty of the present work is that the in-wheel electric motor is considered to be the only control actuator signal in acceleration and deceleration phases, simplifying the architecture of the design of the vehicle and of the control laws. The control laws are focused on simplicity and rapidity in order to generate the torques which are transmitted at the wheels. To compute the adequate torques, estimation strategies are set up to produce reliable maximum friction estimation. Function of this maximum adherence available at the contact between the road and the tires, an adequate torque will be computed in order to achieve a stable wheel behavior in acceleration as well as in deceleration phases. The critical issue that was studied in this work was the non-linearity of the tire-road interaction characteristics and its complexity to estimate when it varies. The estimation strategy will have to detect all changes in the road-surface adherence and the computed control law should maintain the stability of the wheel even when the maximum friction changes. Perturbations and noise are also treated in order to test the robustness of the proposed estimation and control approaches.

Trajectory planning and control of collaborative systems : Application to trirotor UAVS. / Planification de trajectoire et contrôle d'un système collaboratif : Application à un drone trirotor

L'objet de cette thèse est de proposer un cadre complet, du haut niveau au bas niveau, de génération de trajectoires pour un groupe de systèmes dynamiques indépendants. Ce cadre, basé sur la résolution de l'équation de Burgers pour la génération de trajectoires, est appliqué à un modèle original de drone trirotor et utilise la platitude des deux systèmes différentiels considérés. La première partie du manuscrit est consacrée à la génération de trajectoires. Celle-ci est effectuée en créant formellement, par le biais de la platitude du système considéré, des solutions à l'équation de la chaleur. Ces solutions sont transformées en solution de l'équation de Burgers par la transformation de Hopf-Cole pour correspondre aux formations voulues. Elles sont optimisées pour répondre à des contraintes spécifiques. Plusieurs exemples de trajectoires sont donnés.La deuxième partie est consacrée au suivi autonome de trajectoire par un drone trirotor. Ce drone est totalement actionné et un contrôleur en boucle fermée non-linéaire est proposé. Celui-ci est testé en suivant, en roulant, des trajectoires au sol et en vol. Un modèle est présenté et une démarche pour le contrôle est proposée pour transporter une charge pendulaire. / This thesis is dedicated to the creation of a complete framework, from high-level to low-level, of trajectory generation for a group of independent dynamical systems. This framework, based for the trajectory generation, on the resolution of Burgers equation, is applied to a novel model of trirotor UAV and uses the flatness of the two levels of dynamical systems.The first part of this thesis is dedicated to the generation of trajectories. Formal solutions to the heat equation are created using the differential flatness of this equation. These solutions are transformed into solutions to Burgers' equation through Hopf-Cole transformation to match the desired formations. They are optimized to match specific requirements. Several examples of trajectories are given.The second part is dedicated to the autonomous trajectory tracking by a trirotor UAV. This UAV is totally actuated and a nonlinear closed-loop controller is suggested. This controller is tested on the ground and in flight by tracking, rolling or flying, a trajectory. A model is presented and a control approach is suggested to transport a pendulum load.

Consensus under communication delays

This paper deals with the consensus problem under communication network inducing delays. It is well-known that introducing a delay leads in general to a reduction of the performance or to instability due to the fact that timedelay systems are infinite dimensional. For instance, the set of initial conditions of a time-delay system is not a vector but a function taken in an interval. Therefore, investigating the effect of time-delays in the consensus problem is an important issue. In the present paper, we assume that each agent receives instantaneously its own state information but receives the state information from its neighbors after a constant delay. Two stability criteria are provided based on the frequency approach and on Lyapunov-Krasovskii techniques given in terms of LMI. An analytic expression of the consensus equilibrium which depends on the delay and on the initial conditions taken in an interval is derived. The efficiency of the method is tested for different network communication schemes. / <p>QC 20110120</p>

Συμβατικός και ευφυής έλεγχος σε φωτοβολταϊκή εγκατάσταση

Στην παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία προσομοιώθηκε, μέσω του προγράμματος Matlab και συγκεκριμένα μέσω της εργαλειοθήκης Simulink, ένα υβριδικό μικροδίκτυο το οποίο αποτελούνταν από μια φωτοβολταϊκή διάταξη των 85W, ένα συσσωρευτή ιόντων-λιθίου (Liion battery), δυο DC-DC μετατροπείς και ένα R-L φορτίο. Στην συνέχεια πραγματοποιήθηκαν 4 διαφορετικές τεχνικές ελέγχου σε 2 σημεία, έναν στην πλευρά του φωτοβολταϊκού και έναν στην πλευρά της μπαταρίας. Ο έλεγχος στην πλευρά του φωτοβολταϊκού στόχευε το ρεύμα του φωτοβολταϊκού κάθε χρονική στιγμή να έχει την κατάλληλη τιμή προκειμένου να επιτυγχάνεται η μέγιστη ισχύς μέσω σημείου απόδοσης της μέγιστης ισχύος (MPPT). Ο έλεγχος στην πλευρά της μπαταρίας έχει ως σκοπό την διατήρηση της τάσης του φορτίου στα 100 V.(Vload_reference=100V). Οι έλεγχοι που πραγματοποιήθηκαν ήταν με χρήση PI ελεγκτών, έλεγχοι εκμεταλλευόμενοι την παθητικότητα του Euler-Lagrange συστήματος (PBC), με χρήση ασαφών (fuzzy) ελεγκτών και με χρήση νευρο-ασαφών (neuro-fuzzy) ελεγκτών. / In this diploma thesis a DC hybrid microgrid was simulated by using the program Matlab and specifically the toolbox Simulink. The microgrid consists of a photovoltaic array, a Li-ion battery storage, two DC-DC converters and an R-L load. Four different control methods were then applied to our system in 2 places, one on the photovoltaic array and one on the battery. The one on the photovoltaic array aimed that the PV current would be such that every time the maximum power from the PV would be achieved through a maximum power point tracker. The one on the battery has the purpose of maintaining the load voltage at 100 Volts. The control methods which were implied were PI controllers, passivity based control, fuzzy controllers and neuro-fuzzy controllers.

Digital control strategies for DC/DC SEPIC converters towards integration

The use of SMPS (Switched mode power supply) in embedded systems is continuously increasing. The technological requirements of these systems include simultaneously a very good voltage regulation and a strong compactness of components. SEPIC ( Single-Ended Primary Inductor Converter) is a DC/DC switching converter which possesses several advantages with regard to the other classical converters. Due to the difficulty in control of its 4th-order and non linear property, it is still not well-exploited. The objective of this work is the development of successful strategies of control for a SEPIC converter on one hand and on the other hand the effective implementation of the control algorithm developed for embedded applications (FPGA, ASIC) where the constraints of Silicon surface and the loss reduction factor are important. To do it, two non linear controls and two observers of states and load have been studied: a control and an observer based on the principle of sliding mode, a deadbeat predictive control and an Extended Kalman observer. The implementation of both control laws and the Extended Kalman observer are implemented in FPGA. An 11-bit digital PWM has been developed by combining a 4-bit Δ-Σ modulation, a 4-bit segmented DCM (Digital Clock Management) phase-shift and a 3-bit counter-comparator. All the proposed approaches are experimentally validated and constitute a good base for the integration of embedded switching mode converters

Stratégies de guidage visuel bio-inspirées : application à la stabilisation visuelle d’un micro-drone et à la poursuite de cibles / Strategies for bio-inspired visual guidance : application to control an UAV and to track a target

Les insectes sont capables de prouesses remarquables lorsqu’il s’agit d’éviter des obstacles,voler en environnement perturbé ou poursuivre une cible. Cela laisse penser que leurs capacités de traitement, aussi minimalistes soient-elles, sont parfaitement optimisées pour le vol. A cela s’ajoute des mécanismes raffinés, comme la stabilisation de la vision par rapport au corps, permettant d’améliorer encore plus leurs capacités de vol.Ces travaux de thèse présentent l’élaboration d’un micro drone de type quadrirotor, qui ressemble fortement à un insecte sur le plan perceptif (vibration rétinienne) et reprend des points structurels clés, tels que le découplage mécanique entre le corps et le système visuel. La conception du quadrirotor (de type open-source), son pilotage automatique et son système occulo-moteur sont minutieusement détaillés.Des traitements adaptés permettent, malgré un très faible nombre de pixels (24 pixels seulement), de poursuivre finement du regard une cible en mouvement. A partir de là, nous avons élaboré des stratégies basées sur le pilotage par le regard, pour stabiliser le robot en vol stationnaire, à l’aplomb d’une cible et asservir sa position ; et ce, en se passant d’une partie des capteurs habituellement utilisés en aéronautique tels que les magnétomètres et les accéléromètres. Le quadrirotor décolle, se déplace et atterrit de façon autonome en utilisant seulement ses gyromètres, son système visuel original mimant l’oeil d’un insecte et une mesure de son altitude. Toutes les expérimentations ont été validées dans une arène de vol, équipée de caméras VICON.Enfin, nous décrivons une nouvelle toolbox qui permet d’exécuter en temps réel des modèles Matlab/Simulink sur des calculateurs Linux embarqués de façon complètement automatisée (http://www.gipsalab.fr/projet/RT-MaG/). Cette solution permet d’écrire les modèles, de les simuler, d’élaborer des lois de contrôle pour enfin, piloter en temps réel, le robot sous l’environnement Simulink. Cela réduit considérablement le "time-to-flight" et offre une grande flexibilité (possibilité de superviser l’ensemble des données de vol, de modifier en temps réel les paramètres des contrôleurs, etc.). / Insects, like hoverflies are able of outstanding performances to avoid obstacles, reject disturbances and hover or track a target with great accuracy. These means that fast sensory motor reflexes are at work, even if they are minimalist, they are perfectly optimized for the flapping flight at insect scale. Additional refined mechanisms, like gaze stabilization relative to the body, allow to increase their flight capacity.In this PhD thesis, we present the design of a quadrotor, which is highly similar to an insect in terms of perception (visual system) and implements a bio-inspired gaze control system through the mechanical decoupling between the body and the visual system. The design of the quadrotor (open-source), itspilot and its decoupled eye are thoroughly detailed. New visual processing algorithms make it possible to faithfully track a moving target, in spite of a very limited number of pixels (only 24 pixels). Using this efficient gaze stabilization, we developed new strategies to stabilize the robot above a target and finely control its position relative to the target. These new strategies do not need classical aeronautic sensors like accelerometers and magnetometers. As a result, the quadrotor is able to take off, move and land automatically using only its embedded rate-gyros, its insect-like eye, and an altitude measurement. All these experiments were validated in a flying arena equipped with a VICON system. Finally, we describe a new toolbox, called RT-MaG toolbox, which generate automatically a real-time standalone application for Linux systems from a Matlab/Simulink model (http://www.gipsalab.fr/projet/RT-MaG/). These make it possible to simulate, design control laws and monitor the robot’s flight in real-time using only Matlab/Simulink. As a result, the "time-to-flight" is considerably reduced and the final application is highly reconfigurable (real-time monitoring, parameter tuning, etc.).

Avaliação de desempenho de controladores preditivos multivariáveis

In advanced process control, the Model Predictive Control (MPC) may be considered the most important innovation in recent years and the standard tool for industrial applications due to the fact that it keeps the plant operating in the constraints more profitable. However, like every control algorithm, the MPC after some time in operation rarely works as originally designed. Thus, to preserve the benefits of MPC systems for a long period of time, their performance needs to be monitored and evaluated during the operation. This task require the presence of reliable and effective tools to detect when the controller performance is below of the desirable, to define the need, or not, of recommissioning the system. Thus, the objective of this work is development of techniques for monitoring and evaluating the performance of multivariable predictive controllers, being developed two new tools: LQG benchmark Modified and IHMC benchmark. The results obtained from numerical simulations were satisfactory and consistent with the technical literature applied in the developments of the evaluators, which were used in the monitoring of the control system MPC of the oil-water-gas three-phase separation process, offering an appropriate solution and providing subsidies for implementations in real industrial systems. / Em controle avançado de processos, o controlador preditivo ou MPC (Model Predictive Control) pode ser considerado como a mais importante inovação dos últimos anos e a ferramenta padrão para aplicações industriais, devido ao fato do MPC manter a planta operando dentro das suas restrições de forma mais lucrativa. Entretanto, como todo algoritmo de controle, o MPC depois de algum tempo em operação dificilmente funciona como quando fora inicialmente projetado. Desta forma, com o objetivo de manter os benefícios dos sistemas MPC por um longo período de tempo, seu desempenho precisa ser monitorado e avaliado durante a operação. Esta tarefa requer a presença de ferramentas efetivas e confiáveis para detectar quando o desempenho do controlador estiver abaixo do desejável, para definir a necessidade, ou não, de um recomissionamento do sistema. Destarte, aborda-se neste trabalho o desenvolvimento de técnicas para monitoramento e avaliação de desempenho de controladores preditivos multivariáveis, sendo desenvolvidas duas novas ferramentas: LQG benchmark Modificado e IHMC benchmark. Os resultados obtidos a partir de simulações numéricas foram satisfatórios e coerentes com a literatura técnica aplicada no desenvolvimento dos avaliadores, os quais foram utilizados no monitoramento do sistema de controle MPC do processo de separação trifásica água-óleo-gás, oferecendo assim uma solução apropriada e fornecendo subsídios para implementações em sistemas industrias reais.

Functional proof of a flat slide valve as a 4/3-way proportional valve

With a flat slide valve concept, when compared to conventional piston spool valves, reduced leakage and increased service life could be achieved. In order to achieve a reduction of leakage flows and guarantee the adjustability of the valves at the same time, a correct design of the pressure compensation is essential. The magnitude of force depends on both the operating point of the valve and the position of the slider. Due to the design of the flat slide valve, it is possible to use ceramic semi-finished products for the main stage, which consist of control plates and a slide plate. The geometries are simple enough to be inexpensively manufactured with sufficient accuracy, using a ceramic pre-product using laser cutting technology. This article introduces the concept of the flat slide valve for a proportional 4/3-way valve. The design of the valve, including the design of the metallic main stage is presented. This includes the design of the flow channels, which have to be suitable for ceramic materials. Furthermore the design of the actuator and hydraulic circuit for testing is presented. With the shown design, the function of a 4/3-way valve, known from piston spool valves, can be implemented with a linear behavior between slide plate deflection and opening flow cross section.
