This text narrates the experience of approaching education in a Swedish Upper Secondary School as a performance. In the interstices of pedagogy and art, it explores performative andrelational learning strategies. From a radical pedagogical perspective, it attempts to challenge and shift the inherent power asymmetries between teachers and students, by attempting to createa learning space with methods from a participatory art field. The text unfolds from an Action Research field study conducted by me, in collaboration with 23 students in a class I teach in “Estetisk kommunikation” [Aesthetical communication]. The students play the part of coresearchers, exploring what it would mean to them to approach their educational environment asa performance. With an autoethnographic method we explore the different voices in our space, and generate the study data through the act of Free Writing. We move through narratives ofspaces, bodies, principles, voices, the I and the other, and text, and dwell in the meaning of the unknown, critique, crises, togetherness, creativity and freedom. The results point to strategies of genuine presence, care and joy, and the necessity to resist and unlearn the pedagogical habits generated within the contemporary educational system of Sweden.

Holmquist, Johan January 2020 (has links)
In my practice, I have experienced that many students experience the singing as difficult. There are several reasons why students choose to sing or not. In my study, I want to explore the underlying factors for it. Aspects that are discussed are genealogy, identity and self-image, self-confidence, motivation, the curriculum, grades and assessment, and didactics. In the study, I am interested in how both students and teachers' perceptions about singing in elementary school. A phenomenographic qualitative approach based on focus groups and individual interviews with students and teachers has been applied in the research. The result shows both differences and similarities between boys’ and girls' perceptions about singing. Many students appreciate singing together to get a sense of security, which is like teachers' perceptions. Some students do not like to be in the center and sing solo while others like to sing solo to be seen and center. The girls have an interest in the choral singing while the boys sing in their spare time with friends. The boys think that the teaching is guided, they want to choose music that they like. Students who attend regular education class are motivated by grades while students in music class have other thoughts, like the interest in mind. The teachers believe that it is important to give thes tudents the opportunity to show different types of knowledge and explain what knowledge is required.

"Det är nödvändigt att formulera ramar" : En kritisk diskursanalys av Skolverkets stödmaterial Sex- och samlevnadsundervisning i särskolanHedvall, Emelie January 2020 (has links)
The aim for this study is to examine the educational material Sex- och samlevnadsundervsining i särskola (2014), directed to teachers in schools for children with disabilities. The material is produced by Skolverket (the Swedish National Agency for Education) and aim to support teachers in their sexuality education classes. This study examines how the material manages discourses regarding sexuality, heteronormativity and gender for students with disabilities. The material is also being compared with another educational material by Skolverket aimed for teachers in primary school. It is a qualitative study that is conducted with the method of a critical discourse analysis, through the perspective of crip theory and queer temporality, both developed within queer theory. The result of the studies shows, among other things, that Skolverket applies a norm-critical perspective in the material through a normats point of view, and by that means maintains the dichotomy between normat and disabled. Skolverket is also contributing to discourses regarding social norms, such as what is “right” and “wrong”, which can limit the students from exploring their sexuality.

Selma and Astrid. : Arrangement and principles for two central personal archives at the National Library of Sweden 2020.Ryberg, Ella January 2020 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is that, from a postmodern archival theoretical perspective, investigate how two personal archives after famous authors Selma Lagerlöf and Astrid Lindgren are arranged, described and presented at KB, the National Library of Sweden. The thesis investigates what constructed image the collections presents, who the supposed user of the archives is, how the collections are accessible and their role as important sources within the humanities research. The study involved the collections digital archive presentations and four different texts that all discuss the archives. The method chosen was qualitative research methodology and critical discourse theory. The analysis included a study of the level of text, discursive practice and social practice. The results showed that specific usage of language and words have a vast impact on the construction of the narrative. Both postmodern archival theory and critical discourse theory enables the exposition of the relations of power and ideology that these discursive and social practices hold. This leads to the conclusion that the majority of knowledge are socially constructed and that archives holds power by promoting one narrative over another. In personal archives this also plays a big role in the construction of identity and in identity politics.

Virtual Reality's Effect on Engagement in Educational GamesRödström, Herman, Fredriksson, Pontus January 2017 (has links)
This thesis explores how virtual reality solutions affect children in their learning through educational games. The goal is to improve educational games in terms of how engaging they are. Therefore, a game was developed for both desktop monitors and VR, some children played both versions and were then interviewed. The collected data indicates that VR engages the pupils more, however it does not seem to necessarily make them learn more. This may be in part because of VR’s novelty, only gaining a mainstream status in the recent years.

The most important are celebrities and softies : A quantitative content analysis regarding what Aftonbladet and Expressen choose to publish on Instagram LocationAllgren, Amanda, Clemensson, Fanny January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine how Swedish tabloids value and prioritize news on different platforms and what kind of pictures they primarily publish on these platforms. The study answered the three following questions: what type of news do Swedish tabloids publish on Instagram? What kind of pictures Swedish tabloids publish on Instagram? And, what are the differences regarding tabloid news for Instagram compared to the tabloids’ front pages. The method used to answer the research questions was quantitative content analysis and our empirical materials consists of 783 social media posts and news articles. Based on a quantitative categorical scheme, we have analyzed the Swedish tabloids' Instagram pages and the front pages during the course of two months. Our study established that the most prominent news on Instagram is news that we have chosen to call soft news (news that does not inform or educate the reader), news regarding celebrities/elite were also found preeminent. The pictures that were most widely published on the Swedish tabloids' Instagram pages were pictures of celebrities/elites and montage pictures. The biggest difference when we compared the Instagram posts and the front pages was that, on the tabloids' Instagram pages, soft news is published to a greater extent than on the front pages. It also turned out that celebrity news is significantly more often published on the Swedish tabloids’ front pages compared to Instagram.

The effectiveness of youth participation in post-disaster responses: The case of the 2015 Nepal earthquakeNakata, Hana January 2020 (has links)
Focusing on the rising attention towards including the local population in humanitarian action, this study demonstrates how youth participation can produce effective results in a humanitarian response, making use of the post-disaster response to the 2015 Nepal earthquake as a case study. The research was intended to investigate the specific factors that enable youth participation to produce effective results in humanitarian programming, examining the methods that organisations used to involve youth, the benefits and challenges that arose from the process, and how effectiveness could be measured for the purpose of qualitative analysis. After constructing a conceptual framework around the key themes of the study, the thesis analysed the findings from 3 in-depth semi-structured interviews with informants from Restless Development Nepal, an organisation that actively involved youth volunteers in its emergency response. The activities which included these youth volunteers, most notably those that involved working closely with the local community through community mobilisation, benefitted from three main qualities embodied by the volunteers, these being their availability, flexibility and embeddedness within their own localities. The prior expertise of the implementing organisation in working with youth was another factor contributing to the programme outputs, as they possessed the social network and resources necessary to quickly train and mobilise the volunteers. The effectiveness of youth participation, which was measured not only through an examination of the programme results, but also through an assessment of how well the participatory activities managed to achieve the intended purposes of participation discussed in theoretical texts, revealed the possibility of youth participation in humanitarian responses to contribute to improving operational functions while still leading to self-empowerment and inner growth. The actual capacity of each organisation to include youth in their responses, however, is a defining factor in the methods in which youth may be able to use their inherent capabilities to contribute to the effectiveness of any operation.

En kommunikativ process? : Arkiv och integritet i processen bakom dataskyddslagenBergli, Alicia January 2019 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine what kind of archival issues have been discussed in the legislation process that lead to the Swedish national Data Protection Act and the associated regulation with additional terms, if achange in focus occurred during this process and examine how these results show about how legislative actorsview personal privacy. To answer that aim a critical discourse analysis of the legislative documents from theGeneral Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) leading up to the complete legislative acts was used in combinationwith Pekka Henttonens theory about how the nature of privacy issues has changed in a more digitalized environment. A result of the analysis is that the themes of the archival issues that is being discussed in the legislative processis mostly related to general rules, sensitive information, safe guards, further processing, archival materialthat has been submitted to an archive authority, and certain exceptions from some of the rights of the data subject. These themes are being discussed both in relation to those kinds of archives that is governed by archivallegislation and those kinds of archives that are not governed by archival legislation. Another result of the study isthat even though several attempts to affect the legislative process is made by respondents very few changes isactually made after the inquiry report is completed. The last result of the study is that the legislative actors havenot fully changed their view on privacy, even though some aspects of it has changed. This is a two years master’s thesis in Archival Science.

Pappershantering leder till underskriftssjuka : En studie av myndigheters införande av digitala signaturer / Paper Management Results in a Signing Frenzy : A study of implementations of digital signatures in Swedish government agenciesLundstedt, Rickard January 2019 (has links)
Digital signatures is a small and relatively new subject in digital preservation. There has been substantial research made in how to technically preserve a digital signature. However the research regarding the implementation and surrounding practices are relatively unexplored. This thesis analyses documentation from Swedish public sector about digital signature, develop models that express practices, and evaluate them against current normative frameworks within the field of digital preservation. Different government agencies were queried for documentation, which were analysed with Grounded Theory and Policy analysis. This generated a set of models which can be used to implement digital signatures into an organisation. Here we find models for managing user identities, selecting signatures on the basis of document type, researching legal questions, managing personal information and user rights, and for organisation of an implementation project. This is a two years master’s thesis in Archival Science.

”…uti ecclesiastique och icke civile mål...” : Prästeståndets argumentation i debatten om mantalsskrivningens former 1723-1812 / For Ecclesiastical Use Only : The clergy’s argumentation in the debate about the forms of census registration 1723-1812Erixon, Anna January 2019 (has links)
Introduction: The aim of the present thesis is to determine the line of argument presented by the clergy of the Swedish State Church in the parliamentary debates regarding the forms of census registrations during the years 1723-1812. This discussion resulted in a new form of census registration in 1812, according to which the parish registration was accorded a greater importance than before. As a result of vast tax evasion, demands were put forth by the authorities that the clergy should be compelled to hand over the parish catechetical registries. The clergy was here faced with a conflict of loyalty between the state and their parishes. To structurally examine the line of argument of the clergy may not only clarify how this conflict was met by the clergy, but also serve as an illustration of the relationship between church and state in 18th century Sweden. The effects of the form of census registration of 1812 on the parish catechetical registries are also touched briefly upon. Method: To fullfill this aim, the parliamentary records of the clergy have been examined and analysed in accordance with the methods of argumentation analysis presented in Vedung (1971). Secondary sources regarding the historical circumstances surrounding the parliamentary debates of 1723-1812 have been utilized as well. Analysis: In the analysis the individual arguments presented by the clergy have been distinguished according to three levels: description, evaluation and recommended course of action. These levels are furthermore presented schematically, so as to comprehensively illustrate the line of argumentation. Results: The results of the endeavour show that the representatives of the church and state did not agree as to the legitimate extent of the state’s influence in church matters. The clergy defended the Lutheran idea of separation between church and state power, despite the fact that contemporary canon law asserted an almost unbreakable bond between church and state authority. This is a two years master’s thesis in Archival Science.
