Amanda, Persson, Sara, Kronander Philipson January 2020 (has links)
Companies competing in the global markets are constantly exposed to the market pressure regarding differentiation from competitors and contribute to development. To be able to create competitive advantages and handle the markets expectations, companies are required to develop both processes and employees. A well-established strategy is Toyota's methodology, widely used since Toyata is regarded being a market leader. Since many companies have difficulties achieving Toyota's success, Mike Rother developed the concept Toyota Kata, which focuses on how management can develop a transparent corporate culture of continuous improvements. Mike Rother considers that the concept Toyota Kata is applicable regardless of the industry, although research is limited regarding implementation of Toyota Kata in service businesses, since the majority of research and literature are based of manufacturing companies. The purpose of this thesis is accordingly to analyze how service businesses are able to create a corporate culture with improvement processes being naturally implemented. By comparing two real improvement processes and investigate how the implementation of Toyota Kata can enable continuous improvements in service businesses improvement processes, the purpose will be answered. The results show many improvement areas regarding the company's improvement processes. The recurring weaknesses in both processes are that they were not naturally implemented in the company, recurring problems, resistance from the coworker and inexplicit goals. The study conclude that Toyota Kata contributes to effective improvement processes. However, requirements are placed on the company’s commitment to create a new corporate culture. Toyota Kata can also be combined with Kaizen-workshop and PDCA, to achieve a greater impact. To deeply understand the implementation of Toyota Kata in service businesses, more studies have to be conducted in the field which is based on analysis of service businesses who has implemented Toyota Kata in their workplace.

Effectivisation of ISO 9001 and implementation of ISO 14001 in a manufacturing industry

Nilsson, Jenny, Sundholm, Andreas January 2020 (has links)
This report is written as a thesis for a degree of master. In this report you can read about increasing demands from customers that want their suppliers to be certified by some type of standard, like ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. ISO 9001 is a standard of requirements for implementing a quality management system within an organisation and is built on seven main principles which the organization need to fulfil. ISO 14001 is a standard of requirements for implementing an environmental management system and is like ISO 9001 built on seven main principles. Implementation and the work with the standards are based of the PDCA-cycle. The thesis is made together with AGES Kulltorp AB, a company based in Kulltorp, Värnamo. They supply diecasted and machined products in aluminium and has realised that they are in need to get certified by ISO 14001 and needs an effectivization of their quality management system according to ISO 9001. To be able to implement a standard of this kind, it requires an involved, determined management team and an acceptance that work will be time and resource consuming. The organizations shall also be able to accept changes and the employees must be motivated and empowered to simplify the implementation. This report determines most of the theories from academic work by the practical work of updating the whole management system at AGES Kulltorp to fulfil all the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. This report will also state what type of documents and routines that is required for the quality and environmental management system. The report will also describe how AGES Kulltorp made their journey against effectivisation of ISO 9001 and certification of ISO 14001. The survey that were performed at AGES Kulltorp expose most of the internal obstacles that the company must work with to be able to fully implement the management system to the organization.

Förbättring av ett flöde för prototypmaterial : En studie i en verkstadsindustri / Improvements of a flow for prototype material : A study in a manufacturing industry

Olsson, Terése January 2020 (has links)
Arbetet resulterade i åtta identifierade problemområden. / This project was implemented during the spring of 2020 as a bachelor thesis for the Bachelor Engineering Program in Innovation Technology and Design at Karlstad University. The bachelor thesis was made in collaboration with a high-tech company operating worldwide. The purpose of the project was to find suitable methods and tools, adapted to the company, in order to be able to purpose improvements to reduce the lead times in the prototype flow. To be able to fulfil the purpose, multiple interviews were conducted, data was collected, and a comprehensive literature study was made. The literature study included tools and methods within the improvement programs Lean and Six Sigma. The work resulted in eight identified problem areas. These can be summarized in three areas that requires continued word by the company. The first requires data with a higher quality and more detailed information, the second is that the company should include the coworkers in the improvement work and the subcontractors should be reviewed. Either the company should have special suppliers for prototype equipment or restarting their own prototype manufactory.

The importance of standardised work in preventing wrong deliveries

Ali Jalil, Hassanin January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this bachelor’s degree work was to analyse a packaging station in a global manufacturing company in Sweden, and to provide an answer on why it is important with standardised work in preventing wrong deliveries. The purpose of the analysis was to come up with various improvement proposals in order to reduce and prevent wrong deliveries. The analysis of the packaging station was conducted by observing the station and understanding how the workers work and what kind of work procedure do they follow. The observations made it possible to conduct several conclusions on why the problems occurred, one of these conclusions was that the work procedure is not standardised which in turn increased the errors in the station. Through a clear problem description, it was possible to come up with improvement proposals by answering the following research questions:  Main RQ: Why is a standardised workplace important in a manufacturing company? To be able to answer the main research question, the question has been divided into two smaller sub-questions: 1.     How can a packaging area be standardised by using lean process improvement tools? 2.     How can operating standards improve the efficiency in a packaging station? The approach applied in this study and project has been qualitative research with an inductive approach, by reviewing scientific articles and observing the work in the packaging station it was possible to analyse and compare the collected data in order to come with a conclusion to the problem. The data that was collected in form of interviews has been continuously analysed in order to have as relevant data as possible for the improvements work.  By comparing the collected data from the literature and the case findings it was possible to lay a foundation for the analysis where the proposed improvements came from and to conclude a final proposed improvements that reduces the wrong deliveries in the packaging station. In conclusion, standardised work is important in order to prevent wrong deliveries because it contributes to a more clear and sustainable structure that the workers follow. By having standardised instructions and methods that is being followed, the amount of errors is reduced in the packaging station.  Wrong deliveries are reduced and prevented when there is a standardised work procedure that is based on the lean ideology in a packaging station

Villafuerte, Hugo, Viacava, Gino, Raymundo, Carlos 01 January 2020 (has links)
Planning of resources is a powerful tool in the field of supply chain management and control and in general. Global large-scale companies and enterprises have this implemented in their planning processes. Today, experts in the subject have found issues regarding the implementation of such tools in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, this paper aims to develop an application for the methodology of continual improvement of processes, referred to as the Deming cycle or Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA), which adapts to continuous improvements of processes and products in SMEs. The methodology was modeled in a SME dedicated to manufacture and distribution of wine and products (wine and Pisco). The model was simulated through a simulation software, obtaining results of improvement regarding problems like break of stock, taking into account the satisfaction of the client, productivity in the delivery, and shipment time.
