Pornographie

Schmidt, Anja, Schumacher, Nina 27 April 2017 (has links) (PDF)

Hjelmberg, Björn, Eriksson, Louise January 2018 (has links)
This study examines how the increased presence of pornographic influences in adolescents daily lives has affected their ability to act when exposed to pornographic materials. The aim of this study has been to investigate what strategies that adolescents use when tackling the pornographic presence in relation to the differing opinions voiced in the general society, in order to become pornwise. The data has been collected through focus groups with adolescents in the later years of high school and using Parker et al.s (1998) theoretical framework for navigation through a drug landscape. Drawing parallels to Parker et al.s (1998) study this study has retrieved four different strategies for becoming pornwise; the joker, the searcher, the moralist and the debater. The conclusion of this study shows that adolescents formulate several different strategies to tackle the pornographic presence and navigate through the pornographic landscape. In addition the results suggest that adolescents are in need of further tools from the adult- world such as, for example, improved sexual education in school and further support from parents, in order to feel comfortable in their navigation and becoming pornwise.

Analýza recepce knižní trilogie Fifty Shades a filmové adaptace jejího prvního dílu / Reception analysis of the Fifty Shades trilogy and a film adaptation of its first part

Jirková, Beáta January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to analyse the reception of the Fifty Shades book trilogy and a film adaptation of its first part from the perspective of a female audience - both women who like the books and/or the film and women who do not like them. The thesis sought to describe the fundamental ways of the reception of the Fifty Shades phenomenon and to connect them to media and public discourse about the trilogy. The research questions were particularly focused on women's motivations to reading the books and/or watching the film, their approach to and evaluation of the trilogy. A part of the thesis was also a comparison of the two groups of female readers and viewers regarding the questions mentioned above and a connection of those questions with media and public discourse about Fifty Shades. During the conducted research 13 individual semistructured interviews with female readers and viewers of Fifty Shades have been done. The gained data were analysed by using the grounded theory method (particularly in vivo coding and axial coding). The outcome of the analysis is a description of two different ways of reception and interpretation of Fifty Shades which show persisting ambiguity of romantic fictions for women. The analysis also revealed an impact of media and public discourse about the trilogy on...

Visual consumption : an exploration of narrative and nostalgia in contemporary South African cookbooks

Engelbrecht, Francois Roelof January 2013 (has links)
This study explores the visual consumption of food and its meanings through the study of narrative and nostalgia in a selection of five South African cookbooks. The aim of this study is to suggest, through the exploration of various cookbook narratives and the role that nostalgia plays in individual and collective identity formation and maintenance, that food, as symbolic goods, can act as a unifying ideology in the construction of a sense of national identity and nationhood. This is made relevant in a South African context through the analysis of a cross-section of five recent South African cookbooks. These are Shiny happy people (2009) by Neil Roake; Waar vye nog soet is (2009) by Emilia Le Roux and Francois Smuts; Evita’s kossie sikelela (2010) by Evita Bezuidenhout (Pieter-Dirk Uys); Tortoises & tumbleweeds (journey through an African kitchen) (2008) by Lannice Snyman; and South Africa eats (2009) by Phillippa Cheifitz. In order to gain an understanding of cookbooks’ significance in modern culture, it is necessary to understand that cookbooks – as postmodern texts – carry meaning and cultural significance. Through the exploration of cookbooks, as material objects of culture, one is also able to explore non-material items of culture such as the society’s knowledge, beliefs and values. Other key concepts to this study include the global growth of interest in food; the shift from the physical consumption of food to the visual consumption thereof; the roles that consumption, narrative and nostalgia play in constructing and maintaining personal and collective identities; and the role of food as a unifying ideology in the construction of a sense of nationhood. / Dissertation (MA)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / gm2014 / Visual Arts / unrestricted

Munch, Barbara 09 1900 (has links)
How can we understand a Houellebecquian text when it evades meaning by incessant references to the field of sexuality? The sexual in the author's work is as much a textual façade as a tool for criticism. This thesis provides an in-depth analysis of the construction of sexuality in Michel Houellebecq’s Les particules élémentaires and Plateforme. The observation of an omni-present sexuality is surpassed in order to question the mechanisms at work in the representations of the body and sexuality conveyed by French society as it enters the 21st century. Employing a sociocritical interpretation, the present study draws on the concept of “social imaginary” (Popovic) to bring out the dynamic reltionship established between these pre-existing patterns and the produced text. First of all, this gives a new insight into the nature of the pornographic references that interrupt the Houellebecquian narrative, and allows us to establish how subversion works in this particular register. The characters’ relationship to their bodies indicates a sexual reduction to their genitals, wich we understand as a systematic sexualisation of individuals. This descriptive choice leads to a questionning of the injunctions and norms addressed by the text, present in the public area. By dealing with the subjects such as prostitution, sexual tourism, swinging, or paedophilia, the Houellebecquian text speaks of the world from an “oblique” angle (Hamon), associated with the construction of a double discourse. The study of Les particules élémentaires focuses on the tension between an erotico-advertising imaginary and a discours on the biological determinism of bodies for the characters, whil Plateforme is examined through the question of the sexualisation of exoticism and the commodification of the body as an objet of consumption. By drawing on previous Houellebecquian critiques and literature, this thesis brings out constructions of female and male figures, which convey an incisive critique and a new discourse on contemporary society. The lover and the prostitute, between pornographic representation and lyrical sublimation, are redefined in this context.

I just wanted it like in the movie" : How porn affects men convicted of sexual offence or intimate partner violence

Hjert, Helen January 2024 (has links)
The availability of pornography (porn) have increased, not least because of the internet. Studies have shown that most swedish men watch porn occasionally, but there is also them who are watching much more. They are extensive consumers with more or less daily consumption and this group has been shown to fell worse and, in most cases, have difficulty stopping viewing. In the public debate, porn consumption has been problematized as it is considered to strengthen negative attitudes towards women and it contribute to glorifies violence towards women. This qualitative study with in-depths interview with seven participants, convicted of some sort of violence in intimate relationships, with the purpose to examine how these men are affected by the viewing of porn. The result shows that there is a clear connection between the consumption of porn and violence and that porn affect the sexual health in a negative way. Porn consumtion have affected the participant´s relationsships negativetly and porn is used in a maladaptive way to cope with discomfort. Porn have developed the participant´s sexual scripts to allow a boundary shift of what is considered healthy sexuality. The boundary shift has generated a preoccupation and the participants have commited cross-border in their sexual behaviours with negative consequences.
