Ondelettes et applications en imagerie et en calcul de surfaces

Cette these presente des travaux sur les aspects theoriques de la transformation en ondelettes et quelques applications en imagerie et en calcul de surface. Nous presentons trois approches de construction d'une base d'ondelettes, a savoir l'approche theorie des groupes. l'approche analyse multiresolution et l'approche banc de filtres. Les applications de la transformee en ondelettes portent sur la compression d'image, la representation de courbes discretes et le calcul de l'approximation d'une surface par les fonctions radiales. Nous commencons par un survol de differentes techniques de compression. Nous montrons graphiquement et numeriquement que les transformations en ondelettes, comparativement aux autres methodes pyramidales (Brt et Adelson) permettent d'anvisager de tres bons resultats de compression. On montre que parmi les representations hierarchiques, la representation par ondelettes est celle qui permet de preserver au mieux les indices visuels dans le cadre de la construction d'un modele numerique de terrain par exemple. En ce qui concerne la representation des courbes discrete, nous avons mis au point un algorithme d'analyse et de synthese multi-echelles. Ce nouvel algorithme s'applique a des directions elementaires correspondant a une suite de Freeman representant un contour discret ou une courbe discrete. On montre que l'ondelette de Haar permet d'obtenir une bonne representation multi-echelle d'une courbe discrete avec une taille memoire faible et un cout de calcul minimal. Enfin, apres avoir pose dans le cadre general le probleme d'interpolation par les fonctions radiales et presente une analyse des conditions d'existence de la solution, nous proposons une nouvelle approche de resolution de systeme lineaire qui definit les parametres du probleme. Notre approche est fondee sur la transformation en ondelettes et permet de rendre creuse la matrice du systeme. nous montrons la performance de cette approche surtout quand le nombre de donnees est important. Les resultats d'interpolation d'une surface par une spline de type plaque mince ou multiquadratique sont presentes. En particulier, nous avons teste les ondelettes splines, les ondelettes a support compact et les ondelettes biorthogonales. Les resultats graphiques sont accompagnes des estimations numeriques des erreurs, ceci permettant une meilleure appreciation des demarches proposees.

The diploma thesis is focused on evaluating the performance of the company KOHUT Třinec s.r.o. in period from 1. 4. 2007 to 31. 3. 2011. Evaluation is made by using selected indicators of financial analysis, namely pyramidal decompositions and systems of purposefully selected indicators. The theoretical part contains the definition of basic concepts for understanding the issues examined. Based on financial analysis in the practical section are made possible suggestions to improve the current situation of the company and suggestions to remove the identified problems.

Synthesis of Novel Extremely Sterically Hindered Tertiary Alkylamines

Three advanced methodologies for the preparation of extremely sterically hindered tertiary alkyl amines have been developed. The syntheses of 28 novel tertiary alkylamines that accommodate unusual steric hindrance are detailed. The electrophilic amination of alkyl Grignard reagents with N-chlorodialkylamines, in the presence of N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) as a key additive, gives a variety of unprecedentedly sterically hindered tertiary alkylamines in good yields. Alternative strategy to 1-adamantyl-substituted (1-Ad) sterically hindered tertiary amines, which involved instead an SN1 reaction between 1-Ad cation with various secondary amines, is described. A complementary strategy to 1-Ad-based sterically hindered tertiary amines, which involves an iminium salt intermediate, is also reported. Salient features of the three protocols that are detailed here include unusual tolerance of steric hindrance, mild reaction conditions employed, ease of product isolation-purification, and absence of catalysts/transition metals. The molecular structures of two faithful examples of extremely sterically hindered tertiary alkylamines were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction, and the height “h” of nitrogen pyramid of these compounds were measured. The NMR spectra show a restriction in rotation at room temperature among many hindered tertiary amines, and some of them exhibit two complete sets of peaks for two non-equivalent rotamers at room temperature. 15N NMR has been applied to study the structural changes in highly sterically hindered tertiary amines. Most of these compounds have been shown to undergo Hofmann type elimination reaction upon thermolysis at 100 degree in inert solvents, like toluene. / In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden drei Methoden zur Synthese von tertitären Aminen mit extremer sterischer Hinderung entwickelt und zur Synthese von 28 neuen tertiären Alkylaminen mit entsprechender sterischer Hinderung angewendet. Die elektrophile Aminierung von Grignard-Reagenzien mit N-Chlordialkylaminen, unter Zusatz von N,N,N′,N′-Tetramethylethylendiamin (TMEDA) als Schlüsselkomponente, ermöglicht einen einfachen Zugang zu einer Vielzahl von tertiären Aminen mit extremer sterischer Hinderung mit guten Ausbeuten. Eine alternative Synthesestrategie unter SN1-Bedingungen führt zu sterisch-gehinderten 1-Adamantyl-substituierten (1-Ad) tertiären Aminen durch die Reaktion eines 1-Ad-Kations mit unterschiedlichen sterisch-gehinderten sekundären Aminen. Angelehnt an die zuvor beschriebene Reaktion können auch sterisch gehinderte Imine über eine Iminium-Salz-Zwischenstufe zu sterisch-gehinderten 1-Ad-substituierten tertiären Aminen umgesetzt werden. Auch in diesen Fall zeichnet sich die Reaktion durch eine bemerkenswerte Toleranz gegenüber sterischer Hinderung, milden Reaktionsbedingungen, leichte Produktisolierbarkeit und die Abwesenheit von Übergangsmetallkatalysatoren aus. Die molekulare Struktur zweier repräsentativer tertiärer Alkylamine mit extremer sterischer Hinderung wurde mittels Röntgeneinkristallstrukturanalyse untersucht und die Höhe “h” ihrer Stickstoff-Pyramide bestimmt. Die NMR-Spektren zeigen bei RT eine Einschränkung der freien Rotation um die N-C-Bindungsachse, teilweise führt dies zu vollständig getrennten Signalsätzen für die einzelnen Rotamere. 15N-NMR-Spektroskopie wurde ebenfalls zur Untersuchung von Strukturveränderungen genutzt. In inerten Lösungsmitteln, wie Toluol, zeigen die Verbindungen bei 100 °C in den meisten Fällen eine Hofmann-Eliminierung.

Strengthening Mechanisms in Microtruss Metals

Microtrusses are hybrid materials composed of a three-dimensional array of struts capable of efficiently transmitting an externally applied load. The strut connectivity of microtrusses enables them to behave in a stretch-dominated fashion, allowing higher specific strength and stiffness values to be reached than conventional metal foams. While much attention has been given to the optimization of microtruss architectures, little attention has been given to the strengthening mechanisms inside the materials that make up this architecture. This thesis examines strengthening mechanisms in aluminum alloy and copper alloy microtruss systems with and without a reinforcing structural coating. C11000 microtrusses were stretch-bend fabricated for the first time; varying internal truss angles were selected in order to study the accumulating effects of plastic deformation and it was found that the mechanical performance was significantly enhanced in the presence of work hardening with the peak strength increasing by a factor of three. The C11000 microtrusses could also be significantly reinforced with sleeves of electrodeposited nanocrystalline Ni-53wt%Fe. It was found that the strength increase from work hardening and electrodeposition were additive over the range of structures considered. The AA2024 system allowed the contribution of work hardening, precipitation hardening, and hard anodizing to be considered as interacting strengthening mechanisms. Because of the lower formability of AA2024 compared to C11000, several different perforation geometries in the starting sheet were considered in order to more effectively distribute the plastic strain during stretch-bend fabrication. A T8 condition was selected over a T6 condition because it was shown that the plastic deformation induced during the final step was sufficient to enhance precipitation kinetics allowing higher strengths to be reached, while at the same time eliminating one annealing treatment. When hard anodizing treatments were conducted on O-temper and T8 temper AA2024 truss cores, the strength increase was different for different architectures, but was nearly the same for the two parent material tempers. Finally, the question of how much microtruss strengthening can be obtained for a given amount of parent metal strengthening was addressed by examining the interaction of material and geometric parameters in a model system.

Doing Good While Being Good : A study of the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility and the Swedish Companies Act

This thesis investigates the current interrelationship between the provisions contained in the Swedish Company Act (2005:551) and activities related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pursued by companies listed at Nasdaq Stockholm. The focal point of this thesis could be argued to be of particular relevance in this day and age, as companies listed at Nasdaq Stockholm continue to perform at the top of the league in global sustainability performance measurements, and Swedish and European legislators have intensified their efforts to encourage businesses to operate in a way that does not incur unacceptable social costs to society. Thus, most companies, particularly those with a vested interest in the private consumer market, seem to recognise the importance of fostering long-term relationships with a wide sphere of stakeholders. The purpose of the thesis has been to contribute to the steadily increasing body of legal research that discusses to what extent Swedish companies, without breaching corporate law, could involve themselves in CSR investments. Since I, initially, conclude that Swedish publicly listed companies seem to increasingly invest in activities related to CSR, the thesis also discusses whether the relevant provisions of the SCA need to change to better adapt to companies’ involvement in CSR activities. In brief, I argue, that current business research on CSR coupled with the aforementioned relevant provisions of the SCA allow boards and managing directors to pursue practically any CSR investments, and that shareholders are mostly restricted to rely on relatively blunt ex post actions against a board and/or managing director that has pursued an ill-considered CSR investment, including the obvious choices of voting to replace the board or selling their shares. And since current business research has not consistently proven the positive impact of CSR policies on the financial performance of businesses there are reasons to suspect that the law practically, due to the shielding force of the business judgment rationale and the legislator’s wish to protect most transactions, cannot be effectively applied to stop CSR investments, even if these are nothing but costs for the business. On the other hand, the findings of the thesis also suggest that the occurrence of such unwise CSR investments is not necessarily a proliferating problem, since many companies listed at Nasdaq Stockholm nowadays have powerful and short-sighted institutional owners. The situation might therefore very well be the opposite and that executives struggle to manage for the long-term, as the logic of the market tell them to do otherwise. / Den här examensuppsatsen utforskar förhållandet mellan några av aktiebolagslagens regler och det engagemang som bolag noterade på Nasdaq Stockholm uppvisar i frågor rörande Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Ämnet kan sägas vara särskilt relevant då såväl det samtida näringslivet som lagstiftaren tycks präglas av en ökad medvetenhet kring CSR-frågor. Den ökade medvetenheten i näringslivet förefaller alltmer inverka på affärsbeslut, ett faktum som inte minst avspeglas i de svenska bolagens topplaceringar i globala index som mäter bolags arbete med hållbarhetsfrågor. Samtidigt speglas lagstiftarens ökade medvetenhet av allt fler svenska som europeiska regulatoriska initiativ på området och vars yttersta syfte är att uppmuntra och stimulera hållbara företag som inte pådyvlar samhället oacceptabla sociala kostnader. Det är således inte särskilt anmärkningsvärt att bolagen, i synnerhet de med intressen anknutna till konsumentmarknaderna, tycks erkänna vikten av att bygga och underhålla långsiktiga relationer med en vidare krets av intressenter än deras aktieägare. Det är min förhoppning att den här uppsatsen kommer att bidra till den ständigt växande del av den aktiebolagsrättsliga diskursen som diskuterar till vilken grad bolag, utan att handla i strid med ABL:s bestämmelser, kan företa åtgärder kopplade till CSR. Eftersom jag inledningsvis anför att bolagen på Nasdaq Stockholm tycks ägna sig allt mer åt CSR diskuterar också uppsatsen om några av ABL:s bestämmelser bör förändras för att bättre hantera dessa företags allt större engagemang i CSR-frågor. Sammanfattningsvis argumenterar jag för att nuvarande företagsekonomisk forskning kring CSR tillsammans med de aktuella bestämmelsernas juridiska innebörd innebär att såväl bolagsstyrelser som verkställande direktörer kan företa i princip vilken investering relaterad till CSR som helst. Aktieägare är i praktiken hänvisade till att söka åstadkomma långsiktigt lönsamma satsningar på hållbarhet genom sanktioner ex post, exempelvis genom att sälja sina aktier eller rösta bort styrelsen. Detta innebär å ena sidan i praktiken, med tanke på att nuvarande företagsekonomisk forskning kring CSR:s inverkan på bolags vinster är tvetydig, att de relevanta bestämmelserna i ABL såsom de nu är utformade utgör en trygg hamn även för många av de transaktioner relaterade till CSR som är direkt värdeförstörande. Å andra sidan argumenterar jag i uppsatsen för att problemet med överinvesteringar i CSR inte nödvändigtvis behöver vara särskilt utbrett då bolagen och deras bolagsstyrning allt mer kommit att präglas av kortsiktiga investeringsperspektiv.
