In pursuit of an alternative to the public diffusion of the Reformed Christian faith, limited by the officialdom of the Catholic Church, the Presbyterian missionaries founded the Evangelical Press Newspaper (1864-1892), the first Protestant newspaper in circulation in Brazil. With the first essay located in the city of Rio de Janeiro, under the leadership of Presbyterian pioneer Ashbel Green Simonton, the newspaper extended its reach to the places where Presbyterianism founded its missions. It had as main axis of distribution the province of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The writing ranged between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. In order to understand the historical aspects of religious hope in the formation of the Presbyterian Church in Brazil, we will investigate how the Evangelical Press Journal presented the metaphorical concept of the "Kingdom of God" to its readers. For this, we will consider the roles attributed to God and man, the State and the Church, the individual and the family in the process of expansion of the “Kingdom of God” and the progress in the Brazilian Empire and in the following wars: Secession, Paraguay and the Italian Risorgimento.

Paulina Bonaparte como sinécdoque de Europa en la novela El reino de este mundo / Pauline Bonaparte as a synecdoche for Europe in the novel The kingdom of this world (English)

Lilak, Zeinat January 2016 (has links)

[en] FAITH AND POLITICS FORMATION SCHOOLS: A THEOLOGICAL STUDY BASED ON THE SOCIAL TEACHING OF THE CHURCH AND IN LATIN AMERICAN THEOLOGY / [pt] ESCOLAS DE FORMAÇÃO FÉ E POLÍTICA: UM ESTUDO TEOLÓGICO A PARTIR DO ENSINO SOCIAL DA IGREJA E DA TEOLOGIA LATINO-AMERICANA

ANTONIO APARECIDO ALVES 19 May 2010 (has links)
[en] The Faith and Politics Formation Schools are a contemporary expression of the Christian political formation at the Brazilian Catholic Church. To know the source of this new formation model, to map these schools and socialize their experiences is a very important pastoral task, so this work presents thirteen schools. The proposed thesis in this research is that there is a theology that underlies these schools and, therefore, in this work, the main objective is to develop a theological study of its objectives, programs and content related to the formation, based on the Social Teaching of the Church and in Latin American theology, as a perspective. Regarding the Social Teaching of the Church, it will be followed an indication of Evangelii Nuntiandi, based on the Pastoral Constitution Gaudium et Spes, and other documents of the Social Doctrine of the Church. As far as Latin American Theology, it will be considered its methodology and its theological reflection, as well as the theological models of the relationship between Faith and Politics`, engendered by theologians of this continent. The conclusion reached is that there are different theological emphasis present in Faith and Politics Formation Schools.

Brazilian neo-pentecostal movement : development and distinctions with a missiological case analysis of the Igreja Universal Do Reino De Deus and its impact on Brazilian society

Bledsoe, David Allen 14 June 2010 (has links)
The Brazilian Neo-Pentecostal Movement has impressively spread throughout the country in the past two decades and significantly diversified the evangelical landscape in the nation. Churches affiliated with the movement comprise the fastest growing segment in Brazilian evangelicalism and their adherents make up an estimated forty-two percent of the Pentecostal camp. The Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD, Universal Church of the Kingdom of God) is the most well-known denomination to come out of the movement and possibly the largest contemporary missionary export from a third-world nation. Therefore, the missiological case analysis centers on the IURD to determine if it has actually facilitated or inhibited the successful evangelization of Brazilian society. Published documents by the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and evangelical scholars who are in general agreement with the Lausanne Movement provide sound criteria for the evangelical mission assessment. In the first chapter, I present preliminary details concerning Brazilian Neo-Pentecostalism and the IURD, the research question, a literature review, and rational for the project. The second chapter documents the development of Brazilian Pentecostalism from its inception to the 3 present third-wave movement. Chapter three surveys aspects of the IURD: its founder and principal leader, controversies and criticisms around the denomination, ecclesiastical organization, principal ministry outlet, primary message, and expansion. The fourth chapter explores factors that have facilitated the IURD‟s growth and integration in Brazilian society. The fifth chapter analyzes certain features of the IURD to determine if it has promoted or deterred the evangelization of Brazilian society; areas for consideration include soteriological tenets, certain aspects related to worldview, fellowship dynamics, the importance of financial giving, and societal interaction. The last chapter recaps the thesis‟ content, summarizes a response to the research question, and elaborates on the implications that the findings mean for evangelical mission. Through the contents herein, mission researchers and the global church can better comprehend the IURD‟s complexity, teachings, strategies, and practices and begin to understand its impact on evangelical mission. Furthermore, pastors and parishioners can effectively serve potential, current, and former adherents of the IURD and similar churches. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D.Th. [en] JUSTICE FOR THE NEW CREATION IS HOPE FOR THE WORLD: JUSTIFICATION IN JÜRGEN MOLTMANN / [pt] JUSTIÇA PARA A NOVA CRIAÇÃO É ESPERANÇA PARA O MUNDO: JUSTIFICAÇÃO EM JÜRGEN MOLTMANN

LEVY DA COSTA BASTOS 17 January 2005 (has links)
[en] The Justification is the most important of th doctrines of the churches coming from the reform of the XVI century. Its rediscovery passed from the desire of Martin Luther to find a mercyfull God. Nowadays it is indispensable its rediscussion, but under new pressuposts. Such a reading must be done in liberation. Perspective, what means to consider the thirsty groan for justice of the modern humann being as its autentication`s criterion. The justification must overcome an attitude of faith that behaves passive in face to the chalenges of the life. Correctly experienced it has to reflect in solidarity with all suffering people, in transforming the historic reality. The justification is an event of a salvific character that rises in human heart, however as follow of action of the justified people expanded towards all creation, acquiring cosmic dimensions. Using the theological thought of Jürgen Moltmann who aims basically to recover the liberated vitality of the experience of the justification, and with that fertilize the brazilian methodist tradition. Truely the effect will search to establish a dialogue between Moltmann and John Wesley trying to make the liberated praxis of the christians of wesleyan brazilian tradition to come true, making the gopsel of Christan offer of salvation more acceptable for the modern man.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Marcus Tulio Tome Catunda.pdf: 3252465 bytes, checksum: 8a9faa345c29cbe9bef8da3f52bb2df5 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2016-03-11 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This thesis is based on the Critical Discourse Analysis - CDA, in Textual Linguistics and Theory of Social Action, of Weber, on the theme 'the construction of the Religious Discourse of the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus - IURD'. Justifies the survey because, although many studies have been published about the Religious Discourse, did not find any that has the theme of this research. The main hypothesis is that the Religious Discourse of the Igreja Universal is permeated with a converged messianic appeal to the person of Edir Macedo. The aim of this study is to contribute to the studies of Religious Discourse and its interdiscursivity. Specifically, the objective is to: explain the ideology contained in the Discourse of the IURD to promote the conversion of the population by manipulating the power, control and access to the public; check the discursive production of Bishop Macedo, in their interaction with the faithful; examine how the news of the Journalistic Discourse are modified in the Folha Universal and; situate, in Macedo s Religious Discourse, his messianic proposal. The research is qualitative, with a theoretical and analytical procedure, whose analysis material was collected from the journal of the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus and from oral speech of Bishop Macedo, collected from the internet. The results highlight how the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus is able to forge a Journalistic Discourse of Institutional Advertising, involved by a Religious Discourse, using the mass media to manipulate the use of language in building socio-cognitive, in order to provide the path <<to make-believe>> to <<to make-power>> to his faithful and build a messianic character / Esta tese está fundamentada na Análise Crítica do Discurso - ACD, na Linguística Textual e na Teoria de Ação Social, de Weber, tendo por tema a construção do Discurso Religioso da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus - IURD .

A escassez do pensamento meditativo heideggeriano no contexto Iurdiano

No. of bitstreams: 1 Sarah Fernandes Santana Bernardo.pdf: 565504 bytes, checksum: 428a35aed8ee9ff2c6f121d50c86843e (MD5) Previous issue date: 2018-04-20 / Fundação São Paulo - FUNDASP / Meditative thinking, which thinks the sense of being and exactly for this reason, represents a space of greater intimacy, is proposed by Martin Heidegger as a counterpoint to the rational thinking, or as he calls it, calculative thinking. This calculative thinking, which is not restricted to calculations only, expresses the cybernetic mode that is always looking for the next opportunity, carried by the values of effectiveness, efficiency and performance results, that conquers the absolutism in the current season of planetary technique. Now, if the power, control and calculation, coming from Metaphysics, dominate the whole world how does it interfere with religion? Trying to understand the implications of the scarcity of meditation in religion, this research seeks to approach Heideggerian concepts as a key to the reading of the Iurdian context - Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. First presenting the Heideggerian perspective as a basis for the approximation of meditative thinking; then explaining the development of technique in theology, in order to understand the metaphysical tradition bequeathed to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God; and finally, to raise three phenomena that reveal the meditative lacking in the Iurdian context / O pensamento meditativo, que pensa o sentido do ser e justamente por isso trata de um espaço de maior intimidade, é proposto por Martin Heidegger como um contraponto ao pensamento racional, ou como ele denomina, pensamento calculador.
