Swedish films are often based on the genres romance and comedy. The films dealing with relations and comedy can almost be seen as a genre of its own. The composition of the complex relation between the audience and the genre is the primary research focus of this thesis. With the teoretical ground in intertextuality, sociology and romances the thesis examines three relations in three different films. The films english titles are, Adam & Eva, Making Babies, and Double Shift. The thesis primary objective is to observe the couples relations as representations of themes related to a contemporary issues in romantic relations. According to this the foundations of the relations in the films should be understood in the light of contemporary life. / Den svenska filmen grundar sig ofta på romantik och komedi. De relationskomiska filmerna kan i sig nästan sägas vara en egen genre. Genrens sammansättning i förhållande till publiken är den här studiens undersökningsområde. Med teoretiska grunder i intertextualitet, sociologi och romantik studeras tre relationer ur tre filmer. De tre filmerna är Adam & Eva, Hans och Hennes samt Som man bäddar…. Studien syftar till att se på parens relationer i filmerna som representationer av teman relaterade till en samtida relationsproblematik. Genom detta bör den grund för vilken relationerna idag bygger på synliggöras.

Romance in the era of romanticism A comparative study of representations and conceptions of love in literature and among the Swedish nobility 1741-1782. The period of investigation chosen for this master’s thesis is often said to be the birth of the romantic era, a time when love supposedly conquered marriage. My aim has been to study both fiction and autobiographical texts, such as diaries and letters, to broaden our understanding of conceptions of love in the period of Romanticism. With hopes to provide a new perspective on historical conceptions of love: how people understood and described it in their everyday lives. The men and women of the nobility are often portrayed as unable to afford love, as it were; too much of their good name and wealth were dependent on marriage alliances and the politics of landed property and inheritance. But they too read the famous novels of their day and were influenced by the changes in culture and society, but to what extent? On the basis of a modern definition of romantic love, I have chosen a number of themes for comparison; independence, gender, class and faith. This study shows that the concept of love imagined and the love experienced differ depending on these themes. Love was an idea as well as an emotion experienced. However, the idea proved elusive in the everyday lives of the men and women studied. The novels are critical towards the nobility’s way of life: love ought to be natural and differences in income or status ought not to stand in the way of love. Love in its purest form was perceived to be a way to God. Two souls in love were considered destined by nature for each other. To love was to live, and to live was to love.

Chopins andra pianosonat är, trots sin egendomlighet, ett av de stora romantiska pianoverken.I den här studien undersöker jagvad som binder ihopsonaten och gör den till det mästerverkden till slut har blivit erkändsom. För att undersöka detta har jagstuderat Chopins liv innan och under sonatens tillkomst för att försöka hitta hans personliga kopplingar till musiken. Sedan har jag även gjort en analys av sonatens fyra satser där jag analyserar verketsgenomgående teman och motiv.Genom mitt arbete har jag kommit fram till attdet finns ett tydligt narrativ i verket, om än inte i en klassisk sonatform. Sammanhanget finns snarare i det känslomässiga och det motiviska och därför tror jag det blir särskilt viktigt att betona i en tolkning. För mig personligen innebär resultatet ett steg i rätt riktning för mitt eget framförande av musiken, och kanskekan det även hjälpa andra att hitta sin väg genom en av den romantiska pianolitteraturens mest svårtolkade verk.
