Dansgläjde : en förskola på Södermalm / Dancing for joy : a preschool in SödermalmEriksson, Linnea January 2014 (has links)
The idea for this preschool started with an investigation of the location, with an inventory of its history and present. In the 16’Th century a summer estate called “Ekermanska malmgården” was established here, and the remaining attendants buildings are the next-door neighbor to the location for this project. This historical building is hidden on a remote blind alley, and is taken care of by a local history society on a low budget. Malmgården has a lush garden with old oak trees and behind this area we find the railway. In between the garden and the area set for the preschool we also find a small, old fashioned wooden dance floor, built in the seventies. One part of the assignment was to designate a complimentary use for the preschool-building. With the historical findings and consideration to the surrounding needs, the idea of dancing for joy, as a social activity, came into focus. This is not a dancing school, no classroom adapted for dance is needed because the whole outdoors is made into a dance floor, complete with a small stage, which also replaces the previous dance floor structure. The plan is to open up this space for various uses during evenings and holidays, social dancing, children’s plays, small concerts or other gatherings. It also provides an excellent playground for the children in the preschool, and gives opportunities for small shows and holiday celebrations. The desired feeling and atmosphere is for this complex to be like a public recreation space – to initiate connections, amusement and social dancing for all ages!

Högalidshusen / Urban Building vid HornsbruksgatanSagen, Henrik January 2012 (has links)

I slutet av korsningen - Stadsomvandling Danvikstull / End of the Crossing - Urban transformation in DanvikstullLowden, Linnea January 2020 (has links)
A common way of developing cities today is through building closed or half-open blocks. The advantage is that it gives way to a high density and active streets, since all the backs turns to the courtyard. Developers often mention the historic city center as a role model, and sometimes add its varied architecture as a quality that should be noticed. The question is wether or not there are other values in this century old typology and, if there are qualities as found in the millennial courtyard typology, where the space behind the front sides become a half private core, rather than an emptiness. The project is situated in an area which can be considered as the end of a city's historic center, as well as i the crossing of block variations from different eras. The proposal consists of three new residential blocks and one gallery, designed after the courtyard's utilization and the historical buildings on the site.

Malongen : a mimic of a rockHarlin, Anna January 2019 (has links)
Malongen consists of two volumes containing housing, a gallery, and a restaurant. The design language of the base comes from a 3D scan of the rock 30 meters north of the plot. The buildings are a design interaction to explore the tension between the historical mountain cut and a design interaction. With a digital imitation of the rock the buildings intend to mimic the surrounding area. The rock, that is the historical imprint of the place, is now translated into buildingelements, as a result of my manipulation of the file. This project has investigated how we can create a contemporary buidling that refer to a historical site and keep telling a story about time.

Senior and the CityNovo, Rosanna January 2022 (has links)
Senior and the City investigate the question; what does it mean to age with dignity in the city? With recent years of pandemic precautions, as senior citizens were subdivided into a high-index group, a greater focus was set upon their living conditions due to the protection. The protective isolation bore discussions about loneliness and the value of social contact arose. In my thesis project I have made a case study of the senior living home the Flower Fund. Through my research and the pre-conditions of the Flower Fund I have made three public gestures with the aim to link the activity within the buildings to the public life of the streets-cape without. Proposing architectural means which are effective in creating public spaces that is somehow generous and beneficial for both seniors and the city.

House of memoriesVarslavenaite, Martyna January 2023 (has links)
This project is about capturing the historical moments of a place by collecting and translating memories into experiences. Let me take you through the journey how I got here. Architecture, in particular, acts as a tangible link between the past, present, and future, anchoring itself as a significant point in the timeline of a location and culture. I believe, each of us perceives spaces in our own unique way, shaped by our individual previous experiences. Memories are strongly connected to sensory experiences because our senses play a fundamental role in how we perceive and recall the world around us. And I think visual as well as sensory aspects of memory is crucial to capture the essence of a place. Therefore, I decided to work in the south of Södermalm, an area rich of history, cultural events and memories. My experience of the area is much different so I chose to interview a few people who used to live or spend time in the area. I chose 3 people who have common experiences that shaped the area and I introduced their memories in my project. Their collective experiences became my driving force of the design.

Weather or Not : Recreation of the most natural light in an underground spaceAndré, Amanda January 2024 (has links)
Natural light phenomena are a wide array of captivating occurrences. From the gentle diffusion of sunlight through clouds to the dramatic interplay of shadows during sunrise and sunset. Different phenomena of light appear daily, and through light and its meeting with materiality, situations and spaces appear, triggering different feelings and bodily experiences. Material and light are two fundamental parts of interior architecture and our bodily experience in a space. This project investigates how the qualities Shadowplay, Sunshine, Fog and a Cloudy sky, can be put into a spatial context, through light and materiality, to create a similar bodily experience of that in nature. This to remind us of genuine daylight in the absence thereof. The project aims to create an abstract recreation of the visual identity of the four different phenomena, together with a recreation of our experiences of it. This has been conducted in a garage space lacking all natural light to bring more emphasis to the created lightscape. This project and subject as a whole is important to bring more knowledge about the weight that light has in a space. Today light is often planned late in the process, even though it affect spaces significantly. Light together with surfaces and materials affects the space in different ways. Weather or Not takes the setting of a restaurant interior. A space where the visitor expects an interesting experience, not only from food, but also by the full environment surrounding it. The restaurant is set in a car garage at Åsögatan at Södermalm in Stockholm. A big underground space belonging to an apartment block, today filled with cars that slowly are pushed out from the city center. In a few years these big spaces will be left empty not serving their original purpose. In a time when discussions of living standards are on the agenda, I want to highlight these big spaces, with exterior qualities and foremost, its evident darkness. To have them serve another purpose. This project is looking into the possibility of working with light in this completely dark environment to remind us of natural light experiences in nature in the midst of the city. Through collecting keywords and descriptive texts, the project has been able to base the work on several people’s experiences of the different phenomena, giving them their own identities to work with onwards. The project has aimed to create an abstract recreation based on people’s experiences of the four phenomena with some visual resemblance. The design of the space was made in parallel with light installations resembling the phenomena. Within the project several different ways of working with space and objects has been tested. Light brings another dimension to the process. One that sometimes is difficult to translate into the different processes with obstacles of wanted light spread etc. Instead, working in full scale gave new realisations and opened up to new problems both with scale and measurements, but also with placement of one’s eye and body in the space. This was not visibly, felt or fully understood in models, sketches or digital visualisations, as well as in the real-life experience. The body is a tool with different measurements in our senses.

Förslag på ny fastighet vid Ringvägen : Framtagning av förslagshandlingar / Proposal for a new property at Ringvägen : Development of concept drawingsNetteryd, Nicholas January 2014 (has links)
Stockholm is growing and that in turn requires new buildings. The free surfaces of Stockholm decreases and Stockholm City are trying to find new ways to improve the city. The property Gulbetan is located on Södermalm in connection with Ringvägen and Vitabergsparken. Today the site is used for parking and recycling which makes the place dismal and it does not fulfill its full potential. This thesis leads to the final draft documents for the property. Documents are produced along a thorough site analysis, which in turn results in a building with a shop on the corner of plane 0, sheltered housing on floors 1-2 and apartments on floors 3-7. Even a pedestrian area created between the parks Vitabergsparken and Lilla Blecktornsparken. The idea of the architecture throughout the project has been to create a new clearance of Ringvägen, with a stylish building that is timeless.

Public space contact in the Södra station area : A place for public life / Offentlig närvaro i Södra stationsområdet : En stadsdel för offentligt livBäckstedt, Linda Sofi January 2014 (has links)
Södra station area is a central neigbourhood at Södermalm, that was planned and built during the 1980s. During that time it was one of the largest postmodern urban planning projects in Stockholm. The intent was to imitate the urban pattern of the central parts of Stockholm with its mixed-use diversity, hence to “promote a rich social life” (Idétävling omSödra stationsområdet 1980, 4). This project investigates the urban form of the Södrastation area, focusing on the interface between public and private space, and proposing new urban features and land-use programs to further support and encourage public life in a central part of Södermalm. Observation of the area and refernance research show that the urban form of the Södra station area deviates form its surroundings and has low support towards its public spaces. How may the streets and the public spaces of the area be enliven?
