O objetivo do estudo foi compreender como estudantes do ensino fundamental mobilizam elementos e operações do pensamento histórico suscitados pelo desafio de narrar a história do Brasil. A tarefa enfrentada pelos sujeitos da pesquisa provocou uma série movimentos cognitivos: selecionar eventos, personagens, períodos e conceitos na longa temporalidade, interpretá-los e articula-los num relato explicativo que servisse de orientação para o interlocutor. Para consecução dos objetivos propostos, a investigação partiu da reflexão sobre as relações entre pensamento e linguagem, tomando as formas narrativas como ferramentas culturais fundamentais no processo de desenvolvimento cognitivo e na aprendizagem. Com essa premissa, foram discutidas as especificidades da narrativa na produção do conhecimento histórico, suas relações com a aprendizagem histórica e a formação do pensamento/consciência histórica, tendo como referencial teórico principal as proposições de Jörn Rüsen (2001, 2009) sobre a constituição narrativa do conhecimento e pensamento histórico e das estruturas da consciência histórica. No percurso metodológico de caráter qualitativo buscou-se articular os aportes de Rüsen com referenciais oriundos de pesquisas empíricas, notadamente as realizadas pela Educação Histórica no Brasil e em Portugal, de modo que subsidiassem a análise dos materiais escritos recolhidos em oito turmas da oitava série/nono ano de uma escola da rede municipal de São Paulo em 2010 e 2011. Foi realizada a descrição e análise dos marcadores históricos (acontecimentos, agentes, temporalidades e espaços), caracterizados como conteúdos e conceitos históricos substantivos estruturantes e das formas de sua articulação nas narrativas coletadas. A análise e reflexão desses elementos possibilitaram a identificação de perfis das estruturas narrativas dos estudantes e das perspectivas de atribuição de significância histórica. Desse modo foi possível evidenciar a compreensão e interpretação dos estudantes sobre o passado e a história, auxiliando no entendimento de elementos e processos de formação do pensamento e da consciência histórica no grupo investigado. / The aim of this study was to understand how students from basic education mobilize elements and historical thinking operations raised by the challenge of narrating the History of Brazil. The task faced by the researched actors led to a series of cognitive movements: events selection, characters, periods and concepts in long temporality, interpret them and articulate them in a explanatory account that would provide guidance to the interlocutor. For the attainment of the proposed aims, the research started from a reflection about the relations between think and language, taking the narrative shapes as fundamental cultural tools in the cognitive development process and learning. By this premise, was discussed the specificities of narrative in historical knowledge production, their relations with historical learning and the historical thinking /consciousness, taking as main theoretical the propositions of Jörn Rüsen (2001, 2009) about the creation of knowledge and historical thinking, and structures of historical consciousness. In a qualitative methodological approach sought to articulate the contributions of Rüsen with references from empirical research, especially those carried out by history education in Brazil and Portugal, so that subsidize the analysis of written materials collected in eight classes of eighth grade / ninth year of a municipal school of Sao Paulo in 2010 and 2011. Was performed an analysis and description of historical markers (events, agents, temporalities and spaces), characterized as substantive historical content and structuring concepts and forms of its articulation in the narratives collected. The analysis and discussion of these elements allowed the identification of profiles of the narrative structures of students and assignment prospects of historical significance. Therefore it was possible to demonstrate the students understanding and interpretation of the past and history, assisting in the understanding of elements and formation processes of historical thinking and consciousness in the investigated group.

Esta proposta teve a intencionalidade de trazer a realidade dos estudantes para sala de aula, onde estes sujeitos possam pensar em situações reais de suas vivências, e no ambiente escolar construir o pensamento científico. O trabalho constitui-se de três principais momentos, os quais são, levantamento de temáticas relevantes fundamentalmente por meio de questionário com base em ideias freirianas. O segundo momento constitui na construção da proposta com os temas relevantes identificados a partir do estudo realizado no primeiro momento, ideias baseadas em princípios vygotskyanos, que nos revela a importância do meio cultural onde os sujeitos estão inseridos para o desenvolvimento da aprendizagem. O terceiro momento foi o desenvolvimento da proposta em sala de aula e análise qualitativa, com o objetivo de sinalizar possibilidades de produção de material para a Educação de Jovens e Adultos; bem como aprendizagens possibilitadas pela sua implementação em sala de aula. A construção do conhecimento químico através de uma perspectiva temática da Situação de Estudo, mostrou-se uma importante ferramenta de mediação e significação cultural e conceitual. / This paper presents the design, implementation and analysis of a pedagogical proposal called Study Situation as a Way of Construction of Chemical Knowledge in the Youth and Adult Education of Instituto Estadual Padre Francisco Garcia from São Borja - RS. This proposal had the intention to bring the reality of the students to the classroom, where these guys can think of real situations of their experiences, and in the school environment build scientific thinking. The work consists of three main moments, which are relevant thematic survey primarily through a questionnaire based on Freirian ideas. The second moment is the construction of the proposal with the relevant issues identified from the study at first, ideas based on Vygotskian principles, which reveals the importance of the cultural environment in which the subjects are included for the development of learning. The third time was the development of the proposal in class and qualitative analysis room, in order to highlight material production possibilities for Youth and Adult Education; and learning made possible by its implementation in the classroom. The construction of chemical knowledge through a Thematic Perspective Study situation proved to be an important tool mediation, and cultural and conceptual meaning.

Neste trabalho discutimos os principais argumentos da inferência bayesiana subjetivista. Posteriormente, a partir de uma revisão da literatura dos testes de hipóteses, os principais testes são analisados sob a ótica da teoria da decisão, particularmente no que tange às hipóteses precisas. Adicionalmente, funções de perda para testes de significância, seguindo a proposta de Fisher e do FBST, são analisadas e comparadas. / This work discusses the main points of the bayesian subjectivist inference. Posteriorly, from a literature review of hypothesis testing, the main approaches are interpreting from a decision-theoretic viewpoint, particularly regarding the precise hypotheses. Additionally, loss functions for tests of significance, following the proposal of Fisher and FBST, are analyzed and compared.

In this thesis we develop data mining techniques to analyze sleep irregularities in humans. We investigate the effects of several demographic, behavioral and emotional factors on sleep progression and on patient's susceptibility to sleep-related and other disorders. Mining is performed over subjective and objective data collected from patients visiting the UMass Medical Center and the Day Kimball Hospital for treatment. Subjective data are obtained from patient responses to questions posed in a sleep questionnaire. Objective data comprise observations and clinical measurements recorded by sleep technicians using a suite of instruments together called polysomnogram. We create suitable filters to capture significant events within sleep epochs. We propose and employ a Window-based Association Rule Mining Algorithm to discover associations among sleep progression, pathology, demographics and other factors. This algorithm is a modified and extended version of the Set-and-Sequences Association Rule Mining Algorithm developed at WPI to support the mining of association rules from complex data types. We analyze both the medical as well as the statistical significance of the associations discovered by our algorithm. We also develop predictive classification models using logistic regression and compare the results with those obtained through association rule mining.

It happened between 1912 to 1916 and embodied a region equivalent to one third of the Santa Catarina territory and the southwest of Parana. Not only the geographic amplitude and the long period of war but it is also remarkable the involvement of some tens of thousands of people with great number of deaths. The Contestado scarred and still influences the life, culture and religiousness of the ones who survived and their descendents. This dissertation studies and explains the Contestado mystics, from a symbolic-cultural perspective and from the current reception and new significance to João Maria s words. This mystical experience and its message still lives in various expressions and religious representations of the Contestado descendents. Retrieving them, from their origins to the present days, is the path walked by this dissertation. Around the Contestado and João Maria s message, several myths, rites, symbols, sacrifices and prayers have appeared, and are still kept in the popular memory of the Contestado descendents and reinterpreted in their religious experience. After almost a century, the Contestado itself has been given a new significance in a way that the cabocla community finds in it a sense, an inspiration and a mystical experience that allow them to live in the present in a sympathetic way, with esteem and acknowledgement, facing the harsh reality in which they find themselves, trusting in better days. After a revision and bibliographical analysis, retrieving historical, geo-political, social-economical and specially cultural and religious aspects of the Contestado, the most precious information in this dissertation were borrowed, from the people s popular testimonies, who keep alive the memory of the message and the mystics of João Maria. Thus, it was possible to trail a path for retrieval and valuing of the culture and the religious and popular experience of the Contestado. / O Contestado é um dos maiores movimentos populares e conflitos armados da história do Brasil. Ele aconteceu durante os anos 1912 a 1916 e abrangeu uma região que equivale à terça parte do território catarinense e o sudoeste do Paraná. Além de sua amplitude geográfica, do tempo prolongado da guerra, impressiona o fato de que o mesmo tenha envolvido diretamente algumas dezenas de milhares de pessoas e milhares de mortos. O Contestado marcou e continua ainda hoje a influenciar a vida, a cultura e a religiosidade dos que dele sobreviveram e seus descendentes. Essa dissertação estuda e explica a mística do Contestado, desde uma perspectiva simbólica-cultural e a partir da recepção e ressignificação atuais da mensagem de João Maria. Esta mística e esta mensagem sobrevivem em diversas expressões e representações religiosas dos descendentes do Contestado. Resgatá-las, desde as suas origens até os dias atuais, é o caminho percorrido por esta dissertação. Em torno do Contestado e da mensagem de João Maria surgiram diversos mitos, ritos, símbolos, sacrifícios e rezas que ainda hoje são conservados na memória popular dos descendentes do Contestado e reinterpretados em sua experiência religiosa. Depois de quase um século, o próprio Contestado já foi ressignificado de tal forma que a comunidade cabocla encontra nele um sentido, uma inspiração e uma mística que lhe permite viver no presente de maneira solidária, com estima e reconhecimento, enfrentando a dura realidade em que se encontra, confiante em dias melhores. Depois de uma revisão e análise bibliográfica, resgatando aspectos históricos, geopolíticos, sócio-econômicos e, especialmente, culturais e religiosos do Contestado, foram emprestadas as informações mais preciosas desta dissertação, contidas nos relatos de pessoas do povo, que guardam viva a memória da mensagem e da mística de João Maria. Com isso foi possível trilhar um caminho de resgate e valorização da cultura e da experiência religiosa e popular do Contestado.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo a análise do espaço urbano, na medida em que explora o conceito de teatralidade das cidades para o urbanismo. Compreende a relação das intervenções artístico-urbanas e do teatro no espaço da metrópole, buscando principalmente fazer prospecções tanto da arte cênica, como das cidades.Ajuda a entender melhor o panorama mundial e as transformações culturais ao indicar, principalmente no âmbito das cidades, as novas possibilidades para o desenvolvimento da arte e da cultura, e para futuros empreendimentos e parcerias entre os setores público e privado. A arquitetura surge, nesta proposta, como um elemento essencial na história das cidades e das sociedades mundiais, em todos os seus períodos. Percorremos a trajetória teatral de três importantes representantes do teatro brasileiro, os grupos Galpão e Armatrux de Belo Horizonte e o Teatro da Vertigem de São Paulo. Buscou-se entender a relação do teatro de cada grupo, com os espaços da cidade, na sua forma de produção, no processo de re-significação de importantes espaços simbólicos e na re-qualificação dos vazios urbanos, em novos lugares contemporâneos da arte nas metrópoles. / The purpose of this work is the urban space analysis, as well as it explores the cities theatricalism concept to the urban planning. It comprises the relation between the artistic-urban interventions and the theater at the metropolis space, trying, mainly, to make prospections of both, the scenic art and the cities. Helping to better understand the world-wide scenery and the cultural transformations; and revealing it to the new possibilities for the art and culture development, mainly at the cities scope, for future undertaken and association between public and private sectors. Architecture results from, on this proposal, as a main element in the history of the cities and the world-wide societies, in all their periods. We covered the theatrical trajectory of three important Brazilian theater representatives, the groups Galpão and Armatrux from Belo Horizonte and Teatro da Vertigem from São Paulo. Seeking to understand the theater relation of each group, in its production manner, with the city spaces, at the re-significance process of important symbolic spaces and at the unoccupied urban re-designation in new contemporary places of art in metropolises.

L'acide rétinoïque (AR) est un morphogène dérivé de la vitamine A, qui intervient dans le contrôle de l'organogenèse, de la prolifération et de la différenciation cellulaires chez les Chordés. Dans ce contexte, nous avons étudié les régulations spatio-temporelles de la voie de signalisation de l’AR au cours du développement de l’amphioxus, en mettant l'accent sur l’espèce européenne Branchiostoma lanceolatum.Nous avons tout d'abord inhibé ou activé la voie de signalisation de l’AR lors du développement embryonnaire en traitant des embryons d’amphioxus à des doses variables de composés pharmacologiques interférant avec le métabolisme des rétinoïdes. Grâce à l’utilisation d’outils mathématiques spécifiques, nous avons établi un schéma détaillé des effets des traitements effectués sur le développement du système nerveux central (SNC) et du pharynx chez l’amphioxus en nous basant sur l’expression de gènes marqueurs de tissus spécifiques. À l’issue de cette première analyse, nous avons par la suite étudié les effets d’une perturbation de la signalisation de l’AR à des points clés du développement chez l’amphioxus lors de la régionalisation du SNC et du pharynx. Nous avons ainsi montré que la voie de signalisation de l’AR intervient dans la régionalisation de l’axe antéro-postérieur via le contrôle des gènes hox dès le stade gastrula et jusqu’aux stades larvaires. En outre, nous avons réalisé l'étude préliminaire du gène homologue chez l’amphioxus du gène aldh1a2 des Vertébrés, et avons démontré que la régulation du niveau de synthèse de l’AR au cour du développement est conservée entre l’amphioxus et les Vertébrés. Finalement, nous avons montré que la voie de l’AR participe également à la morphogenèse caudale chez l’amphioxus, et que le mécanisme impliqué semble différent de celui proposé chez les Vertébrés où l’AR contrôle la structuration de la nageoire caudale par le ciblage des tissus mésenchymateux. / Retinoic acid (RA) is an endogenous vitamin A-derived morphogen. In this context, we studied the spatiotemporal roles of RA signaling in amphioxus development, focusing on the European amphioxus species: Branchiostoma lanceolatum. We first created excess and insufficiency models of RA signaling by exposing amphioxus embryos to series of doses of different pharmacological compounds targeting either the RA receptors or the RA metabolism machinery. By introducing the important mathematical concept of a Cartesian coordinate system founded by René Descartes, we created detailed diagrams of the concentration-dependent defects caused by RA signaling in the central nervous system (CNS) and pharynx of amphioxus by evaluating the statistical significances of tissue-specific marker gene expression in labeled embryos. This analysis yielded a very detailed description of the sensitivities of the developing amphioxus CNS and pharynx to altered RA signaling levels. Following this initial challenge, we correlated the effects of altered RA signaling levels with key amphioxus developmental stages characterized by structural transitions in CNS and pharynx. We show that hox-mediated RA signaling in axial patterning is active beyond the gastrula stage and might be maintained until at least early larval stage, with possible roles in more regionalized axis formation and organ induction. In addition, we carried out a preliminary study on a RA synthesizing gene in amphioxus, called aldh1a, a possible homolog of the vertebrate aldh1a2 gene, demonstrating that the feedback between RA signaling and RA synthesizing levels has emerged before the split of the cephalochordate and vertebrate lineages. Moreover, we are able to show that RA signaling also participates in tail fin morphogenesis in amphioxus by a mechanism that is probably not comparable to that in vertebrates, where RA modulates caudal fin patterning through targeting mesenchymal derivatives.

Demonstrou-se que o significativo consiste no caráter ídeo-político que se conferiu a ambos momentos - configurando uma unidade de continuidade-descontinuidade. No decurso dos anos 1960, jovens comunistas inspiraram-se nas idéias estéticas do filósofo para a elaboração de um projeto de política cultural como um momento de uma "renovação" política (do PCB). Neste contexto, se enfatizou dois pontos: que a política cultural de extração lukacsiana é incompatível com a tradição cultural do partido, que, no campo específico da arte, além de determinar-se por categoriais não-imanentes à produção estético-artística, caracterizara-se por elementos estéticos de extração stalinistazhadnovista; e, que em razão de conceber dialeticamente as relações entre as revoluções burguesa e proletária, As Teses de Blum se distinguem das Teses (de extração terceiro-internacionalista stalinizada) estratégico-políticas propugnadas pelo PCB após 1958. Mediados pelas idéias ontológicas de Lukács, no contexto do capitalismo contemporâneo, autores marxistas (Sérgio Lessa, Ricardo Antunes, José Chasin, José Paulo Netto, Ivo Tonet), explicitam, primeiro, a falácia das teses que propugnam a descentralidade do trabalho do mundo humano-social, segundo, que a determinação do trabalho como o fundamento ontológico do ser social une-se à imperiosa necessidade de se emancipar a humanidade dos ditames do capital - neste sentido, conferem à sua adoção destas idéias lukacsianas, ainda que no âmbito das atividades acadêmicas, uma dimensão ídeo-política. Enfatizou-se esta dimensão em três momentos: mediante a explicitação de que o trabalho abstrato fundamenta as sociedades contemporâneas...(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This work has the objective to learn about two moments of receptivity of the ideas of Lukács here in Brazil: Philosophical Esthetics and Philosophcal-Ontologics. It demonstrated it's importance based on the aspect of political ideology in both cases forming a unity of continuitydiscontinuity. In the nineteen sixties young communist were inspired by the esthetics of the philosopher to formulate a political-cultural project as part of renovating political ideas (PCB). In this context two important aspects were enphesized: the political-cultural views of Lukács are incompatible with the cultural tradition of the party, arts specifically, are not judged on there esthetic artistic value, but are more an enlightening on esthetics based on Stalin-Zhadnov; because of that there is a dialectic relationship between the bourgeois and proletarian revolution. The Blum Theses distinguish them selves from the Theses (influenced by the third international under Stalin) political strategies defended by the PCB party after 1958. Applying the ontological ideas of Lukács to contemporary capitalism, marxist authors like (Sérgio Lessa, Ricardo Antunes, José Chasin, José Paulo Netto, Ivo Tonet) in first place show fallacy In the theory that defend decentralization of work in the human social society, secondly a definition of work as an ontological foundation that meets the imposing necessity to overcome exploration by capital and in this way they atribute to the receptivity of Lukács ontology ideas, although in the academic world this was a political ideology. Ciências Empresariais / Os teoristas de redes industriais argumentam, explicita ou implicitamente, a significância das relações de negócio para a empresa focal isto é, as relações de negócio contribuem em alguma medida para a sobrevivência e crescimento da empresa focal. Eu não nego a possível existência de relações de negócio significantes mas sustento, em contraste com o consenso dentro da Teoria de Mercados-como-Redes, que a significância das relações não deve ser um axioma. A significância não pode ser uma propriedade assumida a priori para cada uma das relações de negócio da empresa focal. Ao invés, a noção de significância das relações tem de ser discutida e as suas causas totalmente explicadas. Adoptando uma posição de Realismo Crítico, defendo que a significância das relações é um evento do mundo empresarial que merece uma explicação causal robusta. A minha principal questão de investigação é a seguinte: Como é produzida a significância das relações de negócio? Todas as relações de negócio que a empresa focal estabelece, desenvolve, sustenta, e termina com contrapartes (tipicamente seus fornecedores e clientes) podem ser consideradas entidades que exibem características estruturais tais como continuidade, complexidade, informalidade, e simetria. Em virtude dessa estrutura peculiar, as relações de negócio ficam na posse de certos poderes e susceptibilidades (e.g., permitem o acesso e exploração de recursos e competências externos e complementares). Quando esses poderes e susceptibilidades (i.e., funções e disfunções) são postos em prática, inevitavelmente sob certas contingências (em particular os mercados e redes que rodeiam a empresa focal), efeitos (i.e., benefícios e sacrifícios) resultam para a empresa focal e a significância das relações de negócio é potencialmente gerada. Dois dos poderes das relações os de `acesso e `inovação são especialmente consequenciais, dado que a sua activação afecta provavelmente a delimitação das fronteiras verticais da empresa focal. A significância das relações pode ser gerada por causa dos benefícios em excesso de sacrifícios (i.e., valor de relação) que são apropriados pela empresa focal assim como pela influência dual que as relações de negócio exercem sobre o que a empresa focal faz e obtém feito por outros. As relações de negócio contribuem respectivamente para (i) o acesso a e exploração de (e ocasionalmente o desenvolvimento de) recursos e competências externos, tipicamente complementares e desejados pela empresa focal e (ii) a criação de novos e a modificação e melhoria (ou não) dos recursos e competências internos, existentes na empresa focal. Aquilo que a empresa focal inclui dentro das suas fronteiras verticais (primariamente recursos e competências) e aquilo que faz e obtêm feito (actividades), são ambos fortemente moldados pelas relações de negócio nas quais está largamente embebida. A significância das relações de negócio pode resultar da influência que as relações de negócio exercem sobre a natureza e o âmbito da empresa focal. / The markets-as-networks theorists contend, either explicitly or tacitly, the significance of business relationships for the focal firm that is, business relationships contribute somewhat to the focal firm s survival and growth. I do not deny the possible existence of significant business relationships but sustain, in contrast to the consensus within the Markets-as-Networks Theory, that relationship significance should not be a self-evident assumption. Significance cannot be a taken-for-granted property of each and every one of the focal firm s business relationships. Instead, the notion of relationship significance needs to be discussed and its causes thoroughly explained. Adopting a critical realist position, the relationship significance is claimed to be an event of the business world, rightly deserving a robust causal explanation. My main research question is thus the following: How is the relationship significance brought about? All the business relationships that the focal firm establishes, develops, maintains, and terminates with counterparts (most typically its suppliers and customers) can be adequately considered as entities which exhibit structural features namely continuity, complexity, informality, and symmetry. Owing to that peculiar structure, business relationships are endowed with certain causal powers and liabilities (e.g., allow the access to and exploitation of external and complementary resources and competences). Where those powers and liabilities (i.e., functions and dysfunctions) are put to work, inevitably under certain contingencies (namely the markets and networks surrounding the focal firm), effects (i.e., benefits and sacrifices) result for the focal firm and the relationship significance is likely to be brought about. Two of those relationship powers the `access and `innovation ones are especially consequential, for their activation is likely to affect the delimitation of the focal firm s vertical boundaries. The relationship significance can be brought about owing to the overall benefits in excess of sacrifices (i.e., relationship value) accruing to the focal firm as well as the dual influence that business relationships have on what the focal firm does and gets done by others. For the business relationships contribute respectively both (i) to the access to and exploitation (and on occasion the development) of the external, typically complementary competences and resources needed by the focal firm and (ii) to the creation of new, and the modification and enhancement (or impairment) of the extant, internal resources and competences of the focal firm. What the focal firm comprises within its vertical boundaries (chiefly resources and competences) and what it does and gets done (activities) are both strongly shaped by the business relationships in which it is deeply embedded. The relationship significance can result from the influence of business relationships on the nature and scope of the focal firm.
