Integrace bezdomovců do české společnosti / Integration of Homeless People into Czech Society

Košťálová, Veronika January 2014 (has links)
This thesis titled "Integration of Homeless People into Czech Society " deals with the process of setting public political agenda and the related homelessness (and social exlusion) control policy in the Czech Republic during 2000-2013. This process falls behind in comparison with other countries or even worse - it is completely missed out. Growing number of social exluded people is the result of these faults. The aim is to evaluate conceptual and strategic approach to the integration of homeless people and to the system of homelessness prevention in social work and public administration. Following methods are used: critical discourse analysis, event analysis of public policies and semi-structured interviews with selected respondents. The main deficiency of the homelessness control policy can be the lack of systematic research strategy at the national level, which manifests itself in ineffective approach to homelessness prevention. Primarily a lack of awareness is also the cause of homelessness prevention. Public education would help to understand the roots of homelessness and to comprehend the possibilities of help. Thesis also compares approaches to homelessness prevention in selected countries during the reviewed period.

Social inclusion on display : a cross-cultural study of museological practices in Sweden and Italy / Gestaltning av social inkludering : en tvärkulturell studie kring museibruk i Sverige och Italien

Carpi, Laura January 2020 (has links)
This study investigates the practices of four museums in two countries in relation to the notion of social inclusion and how their museum professionals reflect about the topic. The aim is to provide an empirical grounding of Sandell’s theory about the three levels of impact within which museums can address social exclusion: with individuals, specific communities and wider society. The practices of four museums will be analysed and discussed: Västmanlands läns museum and Västerås Konstmuseum in Västerås, Sweden and Musei Civici and Fondazione Palazzo Magnani in Reggio Emilia, Italy. To answer the research questions, nine qualitative semi-structured interviews were performed. The informants selected are museum professionals responsible for different public practices at their institutions. The interviews were taped and at a later stage transcribed. Additionally, documentation from different sources completes the empirical data. A qualitative analysis has been employed to analyse the data. Text analysis and thematic analysis were selected to scrutinize the data. I employed the deductive method to trace Sandell’s theory on the data. The findings show that the notion of social inclusion is a subjective concept. Nonetheless, all the informants’ ideas of social inclusion are consistent with Sandell’s definition. The practices enhanced by the museums to address social inclusion are different in nature but mirror the understanding of the concept expressed by the museum professionals and it is in line with Sandell's model. Therefore, his theory about the three levels of impact that museums can achieve implementing inclusive practices is verified by the empirical data. Moreover, my hypothesis about the link between the social inclusion enact by museums and the socio-cultural context is proved too. This is a two years master's thesis in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies. Intervjuerna spelades in och transkriberades sedan.

The Impact of Mentoring on Social Excluded Adults in a Small Midwest City

Hunt, Rose A. 01 January 2018 (has links)
Empirical data have indicated that a considerable amount of the world's population, 45.3 million in the United States, live in deplorable conditions, some of which are created by social exclusion. Social exclusion is a disenfranchisement experienced by individuals and families living in poverty conditions created by circumstances such as lack of education, lack of economic sustenance, unemployment, poor health, and other social ills. Mentoring is a multidimensional skills-development opportunity for disadvantaged youth, aspiring new professionals, employed individuals being promoted, and instructor-student relationships. There is the possibility that mentoring could be useful for other societal groups as well, particularly social excluded adults. The purpose of this phenomenological research was to examine and gain an understanding of mentoring as experienced by social excluded adults in a small Midwest city. The theoretical framework included the theory of mentoring as postulated by Kram, Bandura's social cognitive theory, the social exclusion theory by Bourdieu, and the social capital theory by Muddiman. Social excluded adults between 25 and 50 years of age were interviewed regarding their mentoring experience. Ten research participants were interviewed. A NVivo assessment was used to analyze data. The study revealed that mentor and protégé relationships among social excluded adults yielded similar positive results as in other mentored groups. The significant social change provided by this study is that outcomes of the mentoring experiences will provide policy makers and nonprofit services providers with important data to create programs that more adequately meet the needs of social excluded adults.

Själständighet på sina egna villkor : En studie om social inkludering av personer med schizofreni / Independence on your own terms : a study on social inclusion of persons with schizophrenia

Ekström Hagberg, Isabelle, Tosun, Sonia January 2023 (has links)
There is a general feeling throughout earlier research that with the right help and support life towards independence for people with schizophrenia is a possibility. The aim of this study was to shed light on exclusion and inclusion processes related to people with schizophrenia and if independent life on the same premises as other people is possible and how care homes in Sweden work in order to support people with schizophrenia towards social inclusion and independence. For this study a qualitative semi structured interview method was used with 8 participants. Thereafter could themes be identified in order to compare data to research and analyze results through social inclusion and exclusion theories. Results of the study show that people with schizophrenia are a highly excluded group. Care homes do their foremost to include this group, however focus is on recovery, help and support as this group rarely lead an independent life.

: Exempel från personal på dagliga verksamheter i Malmö / How can music be a tool in social work? : Examples from staff working at day activities centers in Malmö.

Bertilsson, Louise January 2021 (has links)
Music is universal and appreciated by many, yet it is rarely spoken of in the context of social work. The extent to which music is used in social work in Sweden is not clear, as there is not much research in the area. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore how music can be used in social work with clients, specifically in the field of disability. The goal was to investigate whether music can have an impact on the well-being of clients, and whether music can encourage active participation in society. The purpose was also to investigate if social workers feel that they can use music both for creating relationships with clients and as a means of communication. To address these issues, four people working with music as a tool in social work were interviewed. The four individuals work with individuals with disabilities in Malmö, Sweden. A synthesis of previous research and empirical evidence from this study together with social pedagogy as a theoretical starting point strongly suggests that music can be used to encourage active participation in society, provide a sense of community, improve health and well-being, and that it can be a tool for relationship building and communication between client and social worker. Furthermore, music can both motivate the client and positively affect mood. Social pedagogical work is often applied in everyday situations, where the worker needs to be creative and solution-focused to develop strategies that are effective in interaction with others, the conclusions drawn in this study make a compelling case for music as a useful tool in social pedagogical work – music becomes a positive and personal element in the interaction between social worker and client.

More than just a sport? : A qualitative study of football as a tool in social work, for integration and inclusion of children and adolescents.

Jönsson, Hanna January 2023 (has links)
Social policy challenges in terms of structural social changes, consisting of economic, political and social conditions, shed light on integration policy difficulties in the Swedish welfare state. The aim and purpose of this qualitative study was to analyze, based on organizational isomorphism, how representatives from a selected football organization in Sweden understand football as an integrative tool and how they work with integration of children and adolescents through their certified academy. Also, in which ways the organization obtains legitimacy for their integrational work.  The results and analysis of the study shows that inclusion and exclusion through football academies is a complex and comprehensive task. It is presented mainly through the understanding of football as a logic, where football is presented as a promoter of integration and as a force for good, even though the main focus of the organization and thereby academy is to produce successful football players.

Cederberg, Jonas, Ragnarsson, Alicia January 2024 (has links)
Violations of human rights are a recurring problem in psychiatric care. This is because people who seek medical care psychiatry often have reduced opportunities to express their opinions, which makes it difficult to involve them in their own care. The purpose of the study is to examine patients' experiences of psychiatric care in relation to human rights values. The empirical material has been collected through 5 qualitative semi-structured interviews with individuals who have experience of mental illness and psychiatric care. The material has been analyzed based on a thematic analysis using the values of dignity and empowerment, equality and non-discrimination, participation and inclusion as well as transparency and responsibility. These values have also been the basis for the theoretical starting points that have been used to analyze the material. The results show that there are both positive and negative experiences of psychiatric care. Something that appears to be positive is that good treatment from staff that is characterized by responsiveness and confirmation is something that strengthens the individual's self-esteem and trust in psychiatry. What is described as negative are, among other things, long waiting times, lack of knowledge and competence among staff and not being taken seriously. This contributes to reduced trust in psychiatry and its staff at the same time as it lowers the individual's self-esteem and ability to make independent decisions regarding their own care. Based on the results of the study and previous research, further research is required on how the human rights-based approach should be implemented in practice and that it requires increased resources as well as knowledge and competence of the psychiatric staff.

[en] ADVANCES AND SETBACKS OF THE SOCIAL INCLUSION OF COLLECTORS OF RECYCLABLE MATERIALS OF THE ASSOCIATIONS AND COOPERATIVES OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MESQUITA, FROM THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PNRS NATIONAL POLICY OF SOLID WASTE - LAW 12 305 2010 / [pt] AVANÇOS E RETROCESSOS NO PROCESSO DE INCLUSÃO SOCIAL DOS CATADORES DE MATERIAIS RECICLÁVEIS DAS ASSOCIAÇÕES E COOPERATIVAS DO MUNICÍPIO DE MESQUITA, A PARTIR DO CUMPRIMENTO DA POLÍTICA NACIONAL DE RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS - LEI 12 305 10

ALINE ALVES SILVA 09 August 2019 (has links)
[en] The National Solid Waste Policy - Law 12,305 was promulgated on August 2, 2010 and brings in its text an innovative process by including the recyclable material collector in the actions of integrated solid waste management, as well as in the process of shared responsibility of the products in search of their socioeconomic inclusion, as well as in the perspective of eco-efficiency and sustainable development, which could also be leveraged by the reverse logistics provided for by said policy. In this sense, the present work presents a study about the process of social inclusion of recyclable waste pickers in the municipality of Mesquita, pointing out the advances and setbacks observed, taking as reference the actions before and after said policy, because there is a determination of that the public manager should prioritize the organization and operation of cooperatives or other forms of association of collectors of reusable and recyclable materials formed by low-income individuals, as well as their hiring, but nowadays, in the face of empirical data raised, this movement does not come occurring in the municipality. Therefore, in order to collect data and analyze them, we carried out the qualitative research where we proceeded to document and bibliographical survey, aiming to know the documentation in force, as well as the academic systematizations produced in relation to the theme, expanding the scope of the work carried out research of field and for listening we conducted semi-structured interviews directed to the subjects involved in the process before and after the law, thus, we heard scavengers and public managers with the purpose of analyzing the advances and setbacks of the inclusive process of the scavengers in order to verify the current eality of the municipality which has been so active in the socio-environmental area even before the legislation, but has not been acting with socio-environmental actions determined by law. We consider it important to elucidate that our motivation for this study was based on the fact that we lived, as a resident of the municipality, actions in the time before the legislation, where the municipality put into practice an effective work in favor of the social inclusion of the collectors, but in function of political processes with the change of management, among other aspects, we observed that there was a rupture of what had been developed at the time, so our intention is to understand what actually happened, since the process has been inverse, since with the enactment of the law the actions that would facilitate and promulgate the partnership of the collectors with the public power should have been intensified but what was possible to verify is that these workers are not being contemplated by the precepts of the law to attend the category.

Cajaiba Silva, Marina 24 October 2005 (has links)
This study delineates the globalized context of the present time, where Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) can be understood as opportunities of citizenship for excluded groups who find themselves at the margins of local and global human development in the era of information, such as the communities in the districts of São Gonçalo do Rio das Pedras and Milho Verde in the Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais — one of the poorest regions in the country. As a major goal, this study intended to identify how information originating from the telecenters of the Rede Rural de Telecentros Comunitários, of the NGO Gemas da Terra, has contributed to the social inclusion of these communities; to analyze the project for installing a telecenter for the communities studied; to verify any actions aimed at the integration of those who attend the telecenters with the other people of the community, to prevent a possible concentration of opinions and alienation between the two groups; and to point out results of the actions undertaken by the communities and their consequent practical influence on the daily life of local society. The methodology includes a document analysis of the Guia Gemas da Terra de Telecentros Rurais, non-participant observation at the telecenters, and semi-structured interviews with he users, volunteers, and representatives of the community organizations of the regions studied, where the dissemination and the use of the ICTs have been regarded by the communities as important supporters for improving conditions of life of the population by increasing opportunities for information, work, income, education, and leisure. Among the conclusions reached by this study, it was noted that the greatest social contribution of the pilot project of the NGO Gemas da Terra was to show the communities involved in the project the potential that the Internet offers to these districts, especially to the common people. Nevertheless, from the results obtained by this study, it became evident that the long way to be covered by informational inclusion toward the effective contribution of social questions in marginalized and integrated groups in the information era, was not totally explicit in the area studied. / on the social changes resulting from digital inclusion of poor communities in Brazil
