Personlighet och prestation inom bowling : En kvantitativ studie på svenska bowlingspelare / Personality and performance within bowling : A quantitative study on Swedish bowling playersHelgesson, Martin January 2023 (has links)
Totalt inkom 121 svar vilka inkluderades i analyserna. / With the intensifying competition among athletes', individual differences in mental attributes have a greater impact. This study aimed to investigate if personality traits have a relationship with performance in the sport of bowling. To investigate this, Swedish bowlers responded to a questionnaire that included questions about their their history as bowlers and as well questions about their personality. In total, 121 responses were received and included in the analyses. The participants had an age range of 18 to 74 years (M = 41,89, SD = 14,24), and a gender distribution of 39 women (≈32,2 %) and 82 men (≈ 67,8 %). In this study, personality was conceptualized accordning to The five-factor model of personality and Grit. Results from the correlation- and regression analysis overall showed that players with high levels of Grit played in higher divisions, while individuals with low levels of neuroticism generally had a higher series average, which is a measure on how many points the player has as an average taking all games into account. The results thus show that personality can have an impact on performance in bowling. However, the results were unequivocal because these personality traits were only related to specific performance outcomes. No other personality traits were significantly associated with performance within bowling. Future studies should investigate if other personality factors than those included in the present study, and as well as cognitive aspects such as perception and decision making, can be related to performance in bowling.

Attributionsstil vid idrottsprestationAndersson, Ronnie January 2023 (has links)
The aim of the study was to investigate differences in the attribution style of high school youth participating in elite sports in the event of adversity compared to success. The study examined differences between individual versus team sports as well as differences between women and men. A total of 209 athletes participated (76 women and 133 men), of which 85 were individual athletes and 124 were team athletes. The method consisted of a digital survey built on two situations; a period of adversity and a period of success. For both situations, internal attribution, stable attribution and perceived degree of influence were measured. The result showed significant differences between the situations, where the causal explanation in the case of success was described to a greater degree as being due to the practitioner himself (internal attribution) than in the case of failure. The degree of stable attribution was also higher in the case of success, meaning that the causal explanation was considered to persist in the future. Furthermore, the results showed that men more often use internal attributions, than woman do. And finally, it was shown that individual athletes used internal attributions to a greater extent compared to team athletes and also that individual athletes experience a higher degree of influence the situation.

Vliv úzkosti na výkon závodníka v rychlostní kanoistice. / Effect of anxiety on the athlete's sports performance in flatwater canoeingAndrlík, Jan January 2011 (has links)
Title of diploma paper: Effect of anxiety on the athlete's sports performance in flatwater canoeing. Objectives: The aim of the study was to find out the values of competitive state anxiety and evaluate its influence on sports performance in a race. Methods: The questionnaire method CSAI-2 has been used to determine the values of the components of competitive state anxiety. The observed values were statistically compared with the standards of the best athletes and then analyzed with the performances of athletes in individual races. The dependence of the variable values was determined by correlation and regression analysis. Results: Flatwater kayakers and canoeists have higher cognitive and somatic anxiety and lower self- confidence compared to other athletes. In the test group flatwater kayakers, we managed to demonstrate that the higher the values of cognitive and somatic anxiety, the higher the negative effect on the athlete's sports performance. Higher values of self-confidence affect performance positively. The dependence of the variable values has been identified as medium to high at the 5% significance level. In the case of flatwater canoeists, this dependence has not been statistically proven. Self-confidence of the athlete is positively affected by higher age and experience. Keywords:...

Wireless Multi-Sensor Feedback Systems for SportsPerformance Monitoring : Design and DevelopmentSturm, Dennis January 2012 (has links)
Wireless applications have become a common part of daily life. Whether it is mobile phones, the Wi-Fi router at home, the keycard which has replaced the car key, a radio frequency identification access system to a building or a Bluetooth headset for your computer or phone, the means of modern wireless data exchange is an omnipresent technology. In sports, the market is in its infancy for wireless, technical applications or gadgets. Only heart rate monitors and GPS watches are currently used by recreational athletes. Even though most of the larger sports equipment companies regularly launch new products related to sports performance monitoring and mobile phone technology, product innovation leaps are rare.In this work the design of a wireless sports performance measurement platform is presented. Using the example of kayaking, this platform is configured as a paddle performance measuring system, the Kayak XL System, which can monitor propulsive paddle force, paddle kinematics and boat velocity, interalia. A common mobile phone platform has been chosen as the user interface for this system. The design approach focussing on user requests, demands and expectations in combination with the process of iterative technical development are unveiled in this thesis. An evaluation of the system is presented and the work is finalised with an overview of further systems which have been designed based on the developed measurement platform. The Kayak XL System is a flexible system designed to be mounted onto any standard kayak paddle and installed in any competition kayak. Versatility, unobtrusiveness and usability were major design concerns. The developed system consists of four modules plus a software which has been designed for Android mobile phones. The phone communicates with each of the four modules trough Bluetooth radio. These four modules are also referred to as nodes and have specific measurement purposes. Two nodes have been designed to measure paddle force and kinematics, one node has the purpose to measure foot stretcher force and boat motion data, and the fourth node enables a more convenient method of calibrating paddle force measurement. The fourth node is therefore only needed prior to performance data acquisition. Results show that paddle and foot stretcher force can be measured with a resolution below 1N after calibration. Installing the paddle nodes on a previously configured paddle without repeated calibration is facilitated with the compromise of a doubled error margin. The default sampling frequency is set to 100 Hz and can, like all system parameters, be configured on the mobile phone. Real-time computation of complex performance parameters is only limited by the phone CPU. The system adds twice 109 g to the paddle and approximately 850 g to the kayak, excluding the mass of the mobile phone / <p>QC 20120827</p>

Ativo intangÃvel com evidenciaÃÃo contÃbil e desempenho dos clubes de futebol brasileiros e europeus / Intangible assets with accounting disclosure and performance of Brazilian and European football clubsAnna Beatriz Grangeiro Ribeiro Maia 22 April 2013 (has links)
The football market has assumed great proportions over time and secured their place in the world market, making it a business as profitable as other investments as the housing market, with the principles of profit maximization and the adoption of strategic technical and financial arrangements for administrative management. According to the Resource Based View of the Firm (RBV), of resources that can facilitate business performance, stand out intangible assets - category that fits the most representative of the assets of football clubs, according to the indications literature.Despite the mandatory accounting records in many countries, national and international studies show that the disclosure of intangible assets in the financial statements of entities in general, and especially in sports entities, has been superficial, not including all items required by accounting standards, implying a low quality informational entities in the accounting reports of this type of asset. Based on the arguments offered in the literature on fledgling accounting disclosure of intangible assets for the sports entities, the present study aimed to investigate patterns of association between intangible assets with accounting disclosure and economic performance of brazilian and european soccer clubs
listed on the Club World Ranking. Regarding the methodological procedures, this research is classified as exploratory-descriptive as to the objectives; documental and bibliographical, as to the techniques; and predominantly quantitative, on the approach of the problem. The sample meets football clubs listed in the Club World Ranking 2012, of natural countries that adopt IFRS, based on the criteria of publication of the financial statements 2011. About the principal proxies, the variables were used: as intangible assets with accounting disclosure, Return of Intangible Assets (AIG) and the Representation of Intangible Assets (RAI); as economic performance, Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE); and as sports performance, the classification sample according to the Ranking. The results of the quantitative analysis, show that: (i) the clubs were grouped into six clusters, and three most important factors are presented in order of discriminant power AIG, Des. Sports and ROE (ii) there are differences in the profile of intangible assets with accounting disclosure between european and brazilian clubs, particularly for the RAI (iii) there are no differences in the profile of economic performance for both ROE so as ROA to general, as well as between european and brazilian clubs, (iv) there is no correlation patterns between sports performance and profile of intangible assets with accounting disclosure in general, as well as between european and brazilian clubs. More timely, there is no correlation between the profile of intangible assets with accounting disclosure (AIG and RAI) of the clubs and their economic performance (ROE and ROA), although it has been identified negative correlation between AIG and ROE unexpected, the which raises new researches. From the above, according to the results of the data analysis of brazilian and european clubs, it is concluded that: there is no association between intangible assets with accounting disclosure and economic performance of the clubs in general, as well as between European and brazilian clubs, the profile of intangible assets with accounting disclosure brazilian clubs is different from the european, and the economic performance of the brazilian football clubs is similar to that of europeans.

They have empowered themselves, and today they involve a plurality of researchers in several institutions of wich displayed purposes refer to the production of theoric knowledges as well as help for coaches and sportsmen. Institutions can be considered as systems of constraints and resources for the scientists : they must make visible and justify what they do, and they get resources for their work in return. Scientific activity involves non scientific actors to : coaches, athletes, industrial actors, etc. So sports performance sciences crosses interests of scientists and non scientists. They are characterized by various and typifiable forms of work and scientific productions, wich correlate with particular modes of commitment and coordination of implied actors. Four « scientific regimes », wich structure this field, have been brought to light. Each of them can be characterized by specific purposes, functioning modes and constraints that are linked to the connections between scientific and non scientific actors, especially those of the field of sport. Moreover, sports performance, by virtue of its complexity, can’t be contained in official disciplinary taxonomies, and gives rise to particular forms of interdisciplinary work

Beyond the Beauty of the Game : Investigating Corporate Governance Diversity, with Media Influence, on Sports Club SuccessAmmunet, Gustav, Malm, Markus January 2024 (has links)
Background: Prior literature on diversity within BODs and TMTs is predominantly situated within thecontext of conventional organizations. However, sports clubs differ somewhat fromconventional organizations due to the inclusion of an additional performance metric toconsider, sports performance, which stands as their foremost priority. As sports clubsoperate under a heightened-paced landscape with far more external pressure, the necessityto extend governance research into this rather new area of investigation is of interest. Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the impact of BOD and TMT diversity on sportsclubs’ sports and financial performance and how media influence this relationship. Method: This thesis employs a deductive approach, utilizing a quantitative method, to investigatethe research objectives. The analysis is based on 144 observations from 24 distinct Swedishsports clubs. Depending on the performance metrics being measured, the data is examinedusing either multiple linear regression or ordinal regression. Conclusion: The study supports three of its eight hypotheses, namely that BOD diversity has a positiverelationship with sports performance and that media moderate the relationship betweenTMT diversity, partially BOD diversity and financial performance.
