Trojaborgarnas dolda agenda : En övergripande beskrivning av trojaborgar i Sverige och en jämförelse av olika teorier om trojaborgarnas funktion / The Hidden Agenda of the Troy Towns

Olsson Söderhäll, Kristina January 2019 (has links)
A Troy Town is a labyrinth either built of stones or made of turf. They can be found in northern Europe, especially in Scandinavia. The number of Troy Towns in Sweden is outstanding. They are around 400. Most of them are situated on the coast but there are still approximatly 80 inland about 20 of which are located on ancient burial grounds from both bronze and iron age. The Troy Towns in Sweden are mostly marked with round circles of stones, the size of human skulls, and placed directly on the ground. The entrance of a Troy Town is often formed as a cross. There are some turf labyrinths left in Denmark, England and Germany but most of them are overgrown by grass and can no longer be seen. The Troy Towns are hard to date. Away from the coast one can examine their contexts whilst along the coast lichenometry and the sea level may be used to determine the age of them. There are different ways to describe the purpose of them depending on what period they belong to and where they are situated. Researchers do not agree on all the theories and many of them are based on older explanations. Still new theories appear. My purpose apart from describing the Troy Towns is to examine and compare the theories and to evaluate their plausibility. /
Uppsatsen ventilerad 2019-05-27

Uppsatsen godkänd 2019-06-12

Utilização de métodos geoelétricos para auxílio do planejamento de lavra em pedreira de gnaisse / Utilization of geoelectrical methods as a tool to aid in work front planning in gneiss mine

Martins, Camila Carroci 06 May 2014 (has links)
This work presents end discusses the results of applying electrical geophysical methods as a tool to aid in work front planning in gneiss mine for crushed stones application. This mine produces aggregates for civil construction industry and has a gneiss source rock. In this work the topsoil thickness has been investigated, as well the transitional areas between soil and rock. Moreover the contacts between different lithology have mapped in order to assess the source rock´s depth at the mining boundaries. Thereunto thirteen VES and four EP were acquired in two different stages, the first one was performed on October 2011, where a portion of VES and all the EP were acquired. The second stage was on February 2012 to record the rest of VES data. The methodology used was electroresistivity and induced polarization, due the success history of these methodologies in similar applications. VES allowed to define the contact with the bedrock in subsurface and show the relationships between the schist and the gneiss. Moreover those results identified a possible intercalation of schist-gneiss on west portion at the mine. Furthermore the VES suggest a reevaluation in the geological map, mainly where SEV04 took place, because for the map, the contact would be on gneiss environment, but the sounding showed slower resistivity values for this kind of rock. Through the EP was possible to identify the contact between the gneiss and the schist in all the sections. Specifically the lines CE02 and CE04 showed the contact for both lithologies slightly discordant that were expect for the geological map. Thereby was possible to better define the geological contacts in some places and corroborate the interpretation in others, in order to assess the future work front planning for this mine.

Avaliação química e termoanalítica de cálculos biliares e bile vesicular humana de pacientes do sexo masculino / Chemical evaluation and termoanalítica of human gallstones and gallbladder bile of male patients

Tortorelli, Cláudia Mônica 23 February 2006 (has links)
This work had as goal main to enlarge the study previously related for Mercuri in 2000, now with the chemical and thermoanalytical characterization of gallstones and the human vesicular bile, specifically, of patient of the masculine sex. For both the kinds of characterization were used several techniques, as: (a) Elementary analysis (AE), for contents determination of C, H and N. (b) Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), with objective of verifying the absorption bands in the IV and thus identify some substances that do part of these materials. (c) X-rays diffraction (DRX), to identify present crystalline species formations in the gallstones sample. (d) Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS), for some metals content determination such as: Cd, Pb and Cu. (e) Nuclear Magnetic resonance (RMN), to ratify the cholesterol presence and to remove the hypothesis of have ergosterol in the sample and (f) TG/DTG and DSC applied to the gallstones and bile samples thermal behavior study. This work allowed to conclude that: some universe gallstones kinds of patient of the masculine sex that were studied could be inserted in the proposed classification previously, however, five of these samples did not case in none of these groups, suggesting, with that, the addition of new groups. It verified, also, that the gallstones percentage formatted for cholesterol is smaller for this class of patient. In two gallstones samples were found CaCO3 crystallized as aragonite, other indicated the calcium phosphate presence and in two of these samples were found a Pb high content. In the biles case, six samples indicated presence of NaCl (halita) and their one indicated, also, the cholesterol presence.

Síntese, atividade antiurolítica, e estudos de biotransformação de ácidos galoilquínicos de espécies de Copaifera por fungos filamentosos / Synthesis, antiurolithic activity, and biotransformation studies of galloylquinic acids from Copaifera species by filamentous fungi

Abdelsalam, Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Hamed 31 August 2018 (has links)
Renal stone disease, also known as urolithiasis, is common with a recent overall estimated prevalence rate of 14.8% that appears to be rising, with a five-year recurrence rate of up to 50%. The promising diverse bioactivities of plant extracts rich in galloylquinic acids such as Copaifera species leaves prompted our interest to synthesize the tri-substituted 3,4,5-tri-O-galloylquinic acid methyl ester (TGAME), with the goal of developing a lead compound for kidney stone prevention. The total synthesis included six steps starting from commercially available quinic and gallic acids. The key step in the synthetic pathway was through Steglich esterification of methyl quinate with 3,4,5-tribenzyloxybenzoic acid using dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and N,N-(dimethylamino) pyridine as the coupling reagents. The chemical structures of the final compound and its synthetic intermediates were elucidated by spectroscopic, spectrometric and spectrophotometric methods of analyses. The potential effect of the compound on calcium oxalate monohydrate (COM) crystal binding to the surface of Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells type I (MDCKI) and crystal growth in a Drosophila melanogaster Malpighian tubule model were investigated. Membrane, cytosolic and total Annexin A1 (ANXA1), ?-enolase and HSP90 amounts were examined by Western blot analysis after subcellular fractionation, then confirmed by immunofluorescence staining of cultured cells. Pretreatment of MDCKI cells with TGAME for up to 6 h significantly diminished COM crystal-binding in a concentration-dependent manner. TGAME (50 ?M) significantly inhibited ANXA1 surface expression as evident by immunofluorescence microscopy, whereas intracellular ANXA1 increased. Western blot analysis confirmed ANXA1 expression changes in the membrane and cytosolic fractions of compound-treated cells, whereas the whole cell ANXA1 remained unchanged. TGAME also significantly decreased the size, number, and growth of COM crystals induced in a Drosophila melanogaster Malpighian tubule model, and possessed a potent antioxidant activity in a DPPH assay. We also have performed a biotransformation study of galloylquinic acid compounds using filamentous fungi to predict their pharmacokinetic behaviors. The results showed that galloylquinic acids from Copaifera lucens leaves (n-butanolic fraction, BF) were transformed by Aspergillus alliaceus into one major metabolite 3-O-methyl gallic acid (M1), which is one of the known metabolites of gallic acid studied in humans. The biotransformed product was identified by UPLC-DAD-MS/MS and 1H NMR. Pretreatment of MDCKI cells with BF (50 ?g/mL) and its transformed product M1 (5 ?M) for 3 h significantly diminished COM crystal-binding to these cells. The compounds significantly reduced surface expression of ANXA1 and HSP90 (COM-binding proteins) as evidence by immunofluorescence microscopy, whereas the intracellular level increased. Western blot analysis confirmed these changes in membrane and cytosolic fractions of compound-treated cells, whereas whole cells remained unchanged. M1 also showed a promising antioxidant activity in DPPH assay.

Caracterização experimental de soluções de reforço para placas de rochas ornamentais / Experimental characterization of reinforcement to ornamental stones slabs

Pazeto, Abiliane de Andrade 20 March 2017 (has links)
A great number of coarse-grained natural stones have very high added-value when used as building materials, the so called exotic stones. However, problems using these materials arise from its brittleness behavior, which are related to its very heterogeneous texture. Glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composite (GFRC) is being used to improve mechanical performance of such stones when employed as building materials. The objectives of this present investigation it were studying the Brazilian traditional reinforcement to determinate its efficiency and, at the same time, a number of alternative solutions were proposed and evaluated through experimental mechanical characterization. It was proposed a slope-based criterion to evaluate the useful service loads of pegmatitic materials when glass fiber-reinforcement is applied. To validate the proposed criterion, a digital image correlation (DIC) system was employed to observe and measure strain and fracture behavior during the realization of 4-point bending tests. Both proposed criterion and DIC show that crack propagation occurs long before the material reaches maximum load. GFRC acts as a crack inhibitor, raising the breaking load up to 6x in comparison with the specimens where no reinforcement was applied. The results from this study enhance the capability to apply such materials as building materials and provide an important tool to perform prior mechanical understanding of stone products using GFRC.

Skärvstenshögar med människoben i norra Mälarområdet / Mounds of fire-cracked stones with human bones in the region north of lake Mälaren

Noge, Anna-Sara January 2008 (has links)

Mounds of fire-cracked stones is a typical Bronze Age monument for the region around lake Mälaren. They are usually, because of their content, interpreted as piles of rubbish. But as they often have kerbs, are situated on cemeteries and sometimes contain human bones, the traditional interpretation is not fully satisfactory.

The main focus of this essay is on the mounds of fire-cracked stones which contain human bones in the region north of lake Mälaren. With a detailed study of these, and a comparison with those without human bones, my aim is to get closer to an explanation why the human bones were deposited. The essay consist of a compilation of 98 excavated mounds and a database with various information gathered from excavation reports and archive documents.

With different kinds of osteological aspects taken in consideration, the study shows that human bones have been found in about a third of the mounds. The mounds with human bones more often have kerbs. The same types of artefacts are found both in mounds with and without human bones. A significant difference is that the mounds with human bones contain more categories of artefacts and sometimes even bronze. The study also shows that there is nothing that indicates that the bones were deposited after the primary use of the mound. The human bones could therefore had been deposited contemporary to the “rubbish”. To understand this phenomenon I strongly believe that the mounds no longer only can be interpreted as heaps of garbage.

Kiviksgraven : analys av dess historia och framtid sett utifrån bevaringsfrågor / The Kivik monument : an analysis of its history and future from a preservation angle

Klintberger Wändahl, Anna January 2009 (has links)

This essay focuses upon the Kivik monument and its conservation difficulties, since its discovery at 1748 until modern time. The Kivik monument is found in southeast of Scania, and dated within the Bronze Age period. The perspective of the conservation on the monument has merely been on the monuments inner cist of stone and the rock carvings on the cist-slabs. When the monument was first archaeological examined at 1931, its sizeable cairn (75 m in diameter) had almost vanished and the cist was sheltered by a casing of concrete and metal roof. Between 1932 and 1933 the monument has undergone a large-scale restoration, and this criticized restoration resulted in a low antiquarian value with the responsible authority. With a low antiquarian value, the protection of ancient monuments by national laws is nearly none and the interest by responsible authority is insignificantly. This has lead to substandard preservation of the monument and its surrounding area. By comparing the Kivik monument with the monument Ales stones, who undergone equal restorations, I discovered that Ales stones is still considered an intact ancient monument with a high antiquarian value with the responsible authority and therefore in a good state of preservation. This is probably a result of that the restorations of the Kivik monument contain none authentic material as concrete and its museological construction, which Ales stones is not and therefore perceived as a genuine ancient monument.
