Desafios e perspectivas da implementação computacional de testes adaptativos multidimensionais para avaliações educacionais / Challenges and perspectives of implementation of multidimensional adaptive test for educational assessment

Piton Gonçalves, Jean 17 December 2012 (has links)
The evaluation of the examinees performance may consider one or multiple skills and abilities. As an alternative to hand-written tests, the Computer Based Test (CBT) provides the setup, application and correction of tests as well as provide individual and/or collective statistics about the examinees performance. Considering that the examinee has several abilities, the Computer Adaptive Test based on the Multidimensional Item Response Theory (MCAT) keeps the same accuracy of a traditional test, building on the personal knowledge inferred from the track record of responses to previous items. The item selection through Kullback Leibler between Subsequent Posteriors (\'K POT. P\') avoids to select a difficult item for a low ability examinee, suggesting that \'K POT. P\' is a criterion applicable to educational tests. The literature review evidenced: (i) the insufficiency of studies about the \'K POT. P\' criterion; (ii) the insufficiency of studies on operational MCATs in educational contexts for real users; (iii) the shortage of studies and proposals for initial and stop criteria for MCATs, given a variable number of administered items, and (iv) the lack of Brazilian studies in the area of MCATs. To bridge these gaps, this doctoral thesis addresses the following research question: What is the approach that enables to employ the \'K POT. P\' criterion in operational MCATs for educational contexts, ensuring that the implemented system be in accordance with the functionality, reliability, efficiency, maintainability and portability criteria of ISO-9126 (which is the base for computer based tests evaluation)? The specific objectives of this research are to: (i) implement and validate the \'K POT. P\' selection criterion, comparing it to the usual Bayesian criterion; (ii) propose improvements and calculate the computational time for item selection processing through \'K POT. P\'; (iii) propose initial criteria consistent with the reality and the need of educational evaluation; (iv) validate the novel stop criterion KPIC, aiming at MCATs that administer a variable number of items for the examinees; (v) develop an architecture that enables the application of MCATs via web to real users; (vi) discuss theoretic and methodological issues related to the new CBMAT via proof-of-concept, implementing the MADEPT, which evaluates the examinees under the perspective of the diagnostic evaluation; (vii) evaluateMADEPT according to the international standards software ISO-9126 and point out feasibility, viability, difficulties, advantages and limitations of CBMATs development for web environment. The methodology used to answer the research question was to: (i) organize and select the theories, the methods, the models and results inherent to MCATs; (ii) rewrite the equation of \'K POT. P\'; (iii) implement the MCAT considering the \'K POT. P\' selection criterion and the Bayesian methodology for item estimation and selection (iv) validate \'K POT. P\' and KPIC statistically; (v) implement CBMAT, considering MCAT as a subsystem and (vi) evaluate CBMAT according to ISO-9126. This research has many results: (i) it presents a broad literature review regarding theories/methods/criteria for MCATs computational implementation; (ii) it rewrites in a scientific programming language the equation that expresses the selection through \'K POT. P\'; (iii) it shows, through MCAT simulations, that \'K POT. P\' is a criterion adequate and indicated for tests with a small and variable number of administered items, using \'K POT. P\' for item selection and KPIC as stop criterion; (iv) it develops novel algorithms for initial criteria; (v) it validates a new architecture to enable the application of MCATs via Web to real users; (vi) it implements and evaluates the web computational system MADEPT according to ISO-9126. We conclude that it is possible to develop an architecture that enables the application of MCATs via web to real users, using \'K POT. P\' selection criterion and initial criteria consistent with the educational evaluation. If the aim is to apply MCATs in real scenarios, the item selection through \'K POIT. \'P associated with the stop criterion KPIC provide a shorter and more accurate test in comparison to those using bayesian methodology. Moreover, its processing computational time is in line with the features of the multidimensional approach

Betygsutveckling i Dansteknik : en kvantitativ studie om gymnasieelevers betygsfördelning och betygsutveckling i ämnet Dansteknik / Subsequent grades in Dance technique : a quantitative study about grade distribution and students’ subsequent grades in the subject Dance technique as part of Swedish upper secondary education

Fransson, Niklas January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to contribute with new knowledge about grade distribution and students’ subsequent grades in the subject Dance technique as part of Swedish upper secondary education. The study encompasses the upper secondary school grades of the 414 students that ended the Arts Programme in dance in the City of Stockholm, Sweden, during the years 2014 - 2018. The results are based on a statistical analysis of these students’ course grades in the subject Dance technique. The study shows that students have generally received high grades in the subject Dance technique, both in relation to their grades in other subjects as well as in relation to national grade averages in various courses and subjects. The study also shows that the students maintain a somewhat even grade level throughout their education and that students’ grade level and learning in Dance technique is affected by students’ and schools’ course choices in the subject.

Javed, Muhammad Rashid 22 July 2019 (has links)
This thesis is a collection of studies on son preference in Pakistan. The studies analyze the prevalence and strength of son preference and its effects on women’s childbearing. The role son preference plays in determining women's participation in intra-household decisionmaking is examined as are its effect on birth spacing, probability of risky births and role of maternal age at marriage in modifying gender-specific reproduction and development outcomes. We find strong evidence for both the revealed and stated preference for male offspring. The probability of continuing childbearing also decreases with the number of sons born. Furthermore, we find that women with at least one son have more say in ‘routine’ household decisions but not in financial decisions. Female participation in decision-making grows significantly with the number of sons but only up to the third parity. We find that women with at least one son are more likely to delay succeeding births. We obtain strong evidence at parity 1. The impact seems to dissipate beyond the second parity. Moreover, we find that marriage at 18 or later positively influence women’s preference for family’s sex composition. However, whether or not a woman married early or late does little to modify the male gender bias prevalent in parental investment. In light of these findings, we suggest policy measures that could help improve gender equity in the country.

A critical analysis of the third and fourth wave of Pentecostalism

Hawkes, Paul 30 November 2003 (has links)
The heart of Pentecostal practice has always been an experience of the Holy Spirit. These experiences are often claimed to have the direct guidance of the Spirit and form the decisions and actions that result in the ongoing of the development of practices and doctrine. It is my contention that the third and fourth so-called waves of the Spirit are not truly waves of the Spirit, neither are they new. They are the rebirth, albeit in a new manner, of three disappointing and tragic movements of past Pentecostal history, namely the (New) Latter Rain, the Shepherding Movement, and the Prosperity Movement. I maintain that these two waves do not follow a solid Pentecostal doctrinal stand of an experience in the Holy Spirit of separability and subsequence, neither do they draw their doctrinal stand from the book of Acts, but rather the Synoptic gospels. Unfortunately, even though Pentecostal scholarship is on the rise, the majority of the prolific writers of these last two waves are extremely eisegetical in regards to their dealing with the Word of God. They claim vision and direction from Heaven, as opposed to an exegesis of the canon of Scripture. I maintain that these two, so called waves of the Spirit are not Heaven sent but man conceived and thus dangerous heresy to the church. `I believe that courage is the most important virtue, the foundation that underlies and gives realty to all other virtues and personal values. Without courage we become conformists. Conformity is not the fibre good and courageous leaders are made of… Do not be frightened by the aloneness that may come with your holding unpopular positions. It is in aloneness that wisdom will visit you and smile upon you'. These are not, as a theologian might be entitled to expect, the words of Elijah or Jeremiah. They are quoted from a speech given in 1999 by Mamphela Ramphele, vice chancellor of the University of Cape Town. Her context was the silence that has so often fallen on African societies once liberation has taken place. It is just such silent acquiescence, she insists, that allow former `heroes of the struggle' to become despots and dictators. Her words are challenging to Pentecostal theologians for at least two reasons. The first and more mundane is that Pentecostalism is most vibrant today in precisely those countries, which can be termed `postcolonial'. The second, and to my mind the most relevant to the movement, is that Pentecostalism was at its beginning a powerful spiritual force because it inherited an ethos of radical difference and because its proponents were unflinching in refusing to be co-opted into any other agenda than the one for which they knew they had been empowered by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. In this sense it was a prophetic religion, a religion similar to that of Elijah and Jeremiah. It is my plea then in this presentation that the so-called `postcolonial' countries will not swallow this new error, which has been called the new Pentecostal rhema from Heaven, which stems, as do so many new theological trends from the Western world. The new emerging Pentecostal Charismatic churches, particularly of the Third World need to have the courage not to be conformists, for such is not the fiber good and courageous leaders have. The hermeneutical pneumatology of the Pentecostal tradition has always been questioned. The early Pentecostals did not even bother to develop a theological hermeneutical position of a subsequent experience of the Spirit; they accepted their experience as from God . When they did begin to develop a Pentecostal theology it was often ridiculed as being primarily experiential, thus in the minds of most, devoid of Biblical theology. Fifty years after the outpouring of the Spirit at Azusa Street many Pentecostal scholars began to re-examine the pneumatology of Luke's writing. In the latter part of the 20th Century many Pentecostal scholars came into their own, examining and challenging many of the previously accepted conclusions of theologians, in regards to the Classical Pentecostal doctrinal position . Their position was that there was a separable and subsequent experience of the Spirit following salvation, which was accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking with other tongues. The initial evidence was for a few, and still is for some, questionable evidence. Such a position stood in opposition to those who declared that there was no second experience of the Holy Spirit for any person other than salvation. If those who believed in the `conversion-initiation, which included the baptism in the Holy Spirit' were indeed correct, then everything that Luke talks about in relation to pneumatology in his two-volume work is totally in relation to salvation. This was the theological pneumatological position prior to Classical Pentecostalism. It did and has resulted in many theological challenges. Scholars who take this position do so on the premise that Pentecost is more of a historical situation for the church. However scholars convinced of the Classical Pentecostal position are refusing to accept this position and have and are continuing to develop an exegetical position for a secondary work of the Holy Spirit in a person's life. This is my personal position made vitally real for me since I did not grow up in a Pentecostal church setting, but rather came into the Pentecostal experience in my early 20's. It is my contention that the theological impact of Christ's ascension prior to the public ascension witnessed in Acts 1 has not been fully examined. Few scholars have dealt with the typological fulfillment firstly, of the work of the High Priest as seen completed in the life of Jesus Christ, or secondly, of His fulfillment of the first four feasts which the Jews were commanded to keep. Both of these aspects very clearly enhance and form a clear indication that the classical Pentecostal theology was and is correct in speaking of a separable and subsequent work of the Spirit following a clear salvation experience. I will seek to elucidate this by an examining the historical background of the first two waves of the Spirit, followed by a preview of the work of the Holy Spirit as seen in the canon of Scripture with emphasis on the New Testament. I will follow this by the development of the idea of regeneration in the New Testament. Finally I will examine Lukan writing in regards to the experience known as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. These chapters will then serve as a base for comparison with the material, which will follow. In the late 20th and early 21st century the Classical Pentecostal doctrine has been challenged by the last two charismatic waves of the Spirit, both of which have spawned a plethora of writings. It is my contention first; that the traditional Pentecostal understanding of the authority of Scripture has been abandoned in that now experience takes precedence over Scripture. Secondly it is clear that these last two waves do not fall within the same parameters as the first two waves in their understanding of a doctrine of separability and subsequence, since they revert to a pre-Classical Pentecostal theological position of only one experience of the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, in a day when Pentecostal scholarship is seeking to become acceptable in their exegesis, the authors of these waves are almost totally eisegetical. The question needs to be asked `Have they subtly taken on a title to glean a following?' It is thus my contention that a survey of these waves shows that they have no common ground with the initial two waves of the Spirit. The indication is that they have deliberately chosen a different Biblical basis and thus disqualify themselves from the Pentecostal Charismatic stream. I will seek to elucidate this by examining the historical background of the last two waves of the Spirit, followed by an examination of the Pentecostal hermeneutic and their lack of hermeneutics, as seen so clearly in their writings. This will be done by pointing out the comparisons to the latter two waves of the Spirit both in theory and in the voluminous writing, which are largely based on eisegesis. The stated desire to `have church without making anyone sick' has broached and taken the movements far into left field. Finally, it is my contention that the third and fourth waves of the Spirit are not new at all. They are simply a rebirth of three disappointing and tragic movements in Pentecostal history. Thus I hope to clearly substantiate that the third and fourth wave of the Spirit are not really waves of the Spirit at all. They are not such in terms of their Biblical theological basis, neither are they such exegetically. They are simply the result of those desirous of the moving of the Holy Spirit who have reached back into the past and reintroduced past aspects of renewal, which unfortunately were man centered and resulted later in much havoc among Christians. I will seek to elucidate these facts by an examination of the history and practice of the (New) Latter Rain, which still haunts Saskatchewan, Canada where tragedies still exist, and the Shepherding movement out of Florida, which after a few years was denounced even by the leaders and finally totally disbanded. Then, finally the Prosperity Movement, which rose and fell as an unacceptable, illegitimate deduction of so called truth of the canon. One hopes and prays that the tragedies in lives will not live to haunt the church if Jesus tarries. We do not want the "heroes of spiritual struggles" to become the despots and dictators of the Pentecostal churches in the Third World. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / D.Th. SOCIALIZACE JEDINCE S PORUCHAMI CHOVÁNÍ - PROGRAM "BOROUK" / ACCULTURATION OF INDIVIDUAL WITH BEHAVIOUR DISORDER - PROGRAMME "BOROUK"

NÁPRAVNÍKOVÁ, Lenka January 2007 (has links)
Socialization of an individual with behavioural disorder {--} programme ,,Borouk University Decree (Diploma) Work Abstract The aim of the thesis is to monitor situations of clients with problems of behavioural disorder, who was allowed from a hospital and protective training in Educational Institution and Canteen {\clqq}Husův dům`` in Dvůr Králové na Labem, and an evaluation of the socializational programme {\clqq}Borouk``. In a practical part of the thesis the author chose a quatitative research, in which she analysed data of clients allowed from 2001 to 2005. The programme {\clqq}Borouk`` is evaluated on the basis of data about resocialization of those clients. There is a case study enclosed in the text. In the closing part of the thesis, the programme {\clqq}Borouk`` is evaluated as a suitable programme, which helps clients with the behavioural disorder to socialize. The results show that a wide range of aspects of lifes of a group of examined clients were improved. In spite of their suitable integration and related elimination of negative social phenomenons, it is necessary to provide the clients with behavioural disorder with lifelong assistance and support. Der richterliche Rechtsschutz im Rahmen der Rechtmäßigkeitskontrolle bei Grundrechtseingriffen / Eine rechtsvergleichende Analyse des kolumbianischen Falls / Judicial protection in the framework of the legality control of interventions in fundamental rights / A comparative analysis of the Colombian case

Zuluaga Taborda, John Edison 20 January 2017 (has links)

Features of the Electric Fields Generated by Lightning with Special Attention to Positive Ground Flashes

Johari, Dalina January 2017 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the main processes in positive ground flashes and the distant lightning environment for both positive and negative ground flashes. It presents the characteristics of the preliminary breakdown pulses (PBPs), the characteristics of the electric field pulses observed during leader propagation, and the characteristics of the electric fields produced by the first and the subsequent return strokes. It also features the observations of distant positive and negative ground flashes at distances up to 1000 km. The results were based on electric field measurements conducted remotely during summer thunderstorms in Sweden in 2014. We found that the majority of the positive ground flashes were preceded by PBPs. Some were preceded by more than one PBP train, and the parameter values for the subsequent PBP trains were found to be smaller than the values for the first PBP train. Three types of PBPs were also identified. The results suggest that the PBPs in positive ground flashes during summer thunderstorms in Sweden are weak, and the inverted dipole charge cloud configuration is consistent with our observation. A small percentage of these positive ground flashes were observed to be preceded by pronounced leader pulses. The presence of these pulses suggests that the leaders propagate in a stepped manner. We inferred that these pulses were due to the upward-connecting negative leader since their characteristics were similar to those of a negative stepped leader. On the basis of the leader pulses’ time of initiation and the average speed of the leader, we estimated the distance travelled by the leader. One case of positive return stroke preceded by negative leader pulses was also observed, and the occurrence of these pulses was the first in positive ground flashes to be reported. The majority of these positive ground flashes were found to be single-stroke. Comparison between the first and the subsequent return strokes showed that the average durations of the subsequent stroke parameters were smaller than that of the first strokes. The distances reported by the lightning location system suggest that the subsequent strokes probably created new terminations to ground. Two possible reasons were given to explain the reason for the shorter duration of the subsequent return strokes parameters compared to the first strokes. Finally, observations of distant positive and negative ground flashes showed that the electric field waveforms have a typical shape, like a distorted ‘W’ (or distorted ‘M’ for negative ground flashes) followed by small oscillations. These small oscillations were more pronounced in negative ground flashes, especially at a greater distance. The heights of the ionospheric reflections estimated for both ground flashes were found to likely correspond to a D-layer of the ionosphere. Two possible reasons were suggested for the small oscillations observed in the waveforms.

L’habitude en droit pénal / Habit in criminal Law

Claverie, Charlotte 05 December 2011 (has links)
Habit is a concept known by many disciplines such as philosophy or psychology. If Law is not an exception, the repressive function of criminal Law gives to the habit a specific sense by punishing penal habits.Far from assimilating penal habit and criminal habit, the thesis holds a purely legal and objective conception, disconnected from references to the offender’s dangerosity. The study, resolutely technical, suggests, from five legal institutions (habitual offence, habit as an aggravating circumstance, subsequent offence, repetition of offences and combination of offences) a unitary notion of the habit in criminal Law and a better adapted repression to the habitual offender’s specific criminality.Penal habit is defined as repeated behaviours joined by a legal link, mainly analogical and temporal. This notion allows a repression of habit adapted to its specific characteristics. Thus, the legal repression is influenced by its double pattern, physically plural and legally unitary. In the same way, punishment is influenced by the link joining behaviours.Taking examples from comparing foreign criminal legislations as well as private French law, this study emphasizes assets and weaknesses of the criminal law approach of habit.
