As theoretical reference and methodological tools, we expect isotopic classification of images of Gilbert Durand (1997), the poetic of dreams and poetic of the area of Gaston Bachelard (2006/1998) and the concept of archetypes of Carl Jung (1996). Still use the design freedom and the narrative, in addition to the questionnaire open and the observation of the field for the capture of images. Thus, we reviewed them and found that if organized into three main areas: 1 - images for the school, 2 - images for the teacher and 3 - images for the student. Also noticed that the images suggested a possible enchantment exist in the relationship between teachers and students in the teaching-learning process.

No. of bitstreams: 1 DISSERTACAO ELVIRA.pdf: 1057359 bytes, checksum: 02d31c84d23607e348325bc23fe2090f (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-03-07 / This study had as its object of investigation the relationship (affective) between teachers and students with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of Inclusive Education. The aim was to understand how the affective manifestations that emerge from the interactions between the teacher and his students with intellectual disabilities could contribute or not to include school of the student. On the assumption that the cognitive development of students with intellectual disabilities and those without disabilities are driven by the same factors, that is, depends on the maturation of his body and his participation in social group, we sought theoretical mainly the contributions of Vygotsky and Wallon, which share this interactionist position of human development, and also studied on the disabled, in addition to other authors who have helped build this work. The affective relationship between the teacher and student was the starting point of the construction process of this research, since it is produced by real subjects, assets, which transform the reality and by it are processed. The objectives proposed for this research were operationalized from a study that focused on the qualitative approach. From this approach, build up concepts, ideas and understandings about the data collected in the discourse of the subjects. For completion of the survey data, was used as an instrument to semistructured interview. The empirical research has developed in the framework of three Public Municipal Schools of São Luís-Maranhão. The analysis of empirical material was from the discourse of teachers and students with intellectual disabilities (DI), collected by recorded and transcribed interviews, using the technique of interviews with the three teachers, and (the) three students (as) with DI (subject). The research examined the relationship (affective) between students and teachers with DI, identifying through the discourse of the subjects involved, the affective interactions present in that relationship and that are sharers in the process of inclusion of student with DI. The results pointed out similarities between the first two cases. Through the speeches, the first and the second teacher, it was found that the forms of relationship between these and their students with DI, indicate the inclusion, only in some situations. And, in the case of the third teacher, the manifestations of the affectivity indicate that are effectively contributing to the inclusion of his student.

O ser professor em obras literárias autorreferenciadas e em filmes: dimensões profissionais e emocionais do trabalho docente / Being a teacher in self-referential literature and films: professional and emotional dimensions of teaching

Diva Cleide Calles 11 May 2012 (has links)
An analysis of self-referential literature dealing with the teacher figure in the several identities it may take and represent in different teaching institutions, based on the following sources: Blackboard jungle, by Evan Hunter; Sale Prof!, by Nicolas Revol; Entre les murs, by François Bégadeau; Teacher man, by Frank McCourt; and the following films: Entre les murs and Blackboard jungle. Those works were written by teachers and have teachers as their main characters. They picture school situations encountered between the second half of the 20th century and the early 21th century. They are examined as cultural texts with cultural and social meanings and representations concerning teaching, with the purpose of: (1) examining the elements of being a teacher and how teaching is represented in those works and based on them; (2) taking a glimpse of the multiple socially circulating discourses and representations about teaching; (3) discussing issues related to literature and films based on elements common to the school universe, concerning being a teacher and the exercise of teaching. The universality of the teaching profession, even if under different teaching systems permits an analysis of the representations of teaching in relation to: (1) students and families belonging to lower income, socially excluded groups, for whom schooling does not always make sense or is seen from different standpoints; (2) the growing institutional, social and personal demands on the action of the teacher; (3) school failure and limits to the teacher actions (4) creation of the teaching authority, expected performance, expected action and meaning of teaching work to teachers themselves; (5) forming a satisfactory pact of survival that will permit multiple learnings. The study of those sources permitted noting that, in the performance of teaching activities, the initial background and the acquisition of academic and pedagogical knowledge are just a part of what is needed to efficiently deal with what happens in the classroom. It is the duty of the teacher to deal with conflicts, frustrations, successes and joys inherent to the teaching profession both from the physical and emotional standpoint. A satisfactory interrelation must be founded in a pact of conviviality based on hierarchy, limits, rules and mutual respect.

Matti Raekallio soitonopetuksensa kertojana ja tulkitsijana

Hyry, E. K. (Eeva Kaisa) 21 November 2007 (has links)
Abstract Teaching of music, especially instrumental music, has rarely been the interest of researchers. This thesis explores the music teaching of a well known Finnish piano teacher and artist Matti Raekallio, describing his practical knowledge and theoretical tenets and their formation during the different phases in his life. The practical knowledge of a music teacher is experiential knowledge that takes shape in practical situations. It shows especially in the teaching-related interactions of music lessons. The teacher's practical knowledge manifests in his practical theory, which guides his teaching and includes his notions of the human being, learning and knowledge. The research tasks developed in the course of the research process and can be defined as follows: 1. What kind of shape do the elements of Raekallio's practical theory take in his life story? 2. What kind of teaching strategies and styles does he use in his piano lessons? 3. What kind of teaching stories are told in piano lessons? 4. How do the teacher and his students tell about their mutual relationships and their relations to music? The teaching of instrumental music is also approached from the viewpoint of the master–apprentice tradition it is usually connected with. And in addition to the actual research questions, the way in which this tradition is told in this research is also considered. The study is based on a narrative approach. Most of the data was collected by observing Raekallio's piano lessons and by interviewing both him and his students. This data was then analysed using content analysis and narrative methods of analysis. The results of this study broaden our conception of a music teacher's work. The teacher uses versatile teaching strategies, both verbal and nonverbal. Raekallio's teaching style includes his way of speaking, of being present and of giving feedback during his piano lessons. The exploration of teaching styles proved to be a fruitful starting point in the research of the moral dimension of music teaching. Examining teaching stories opened up the socialising significance that teaching has; through these stories future pianists and piano teachers are narrated into their cultural environment. These teaching stories show the teacher's pedagogical content knowledge as narrative knowing. With the help of narrative knowing, the teacher ties together knowledge that makes possible the production of a music performance, starting from notes and ending in a musical performance. The findings reinforce our conceptions of the teacher's significance in the teaching of instrumental music. In the stories of both students and the teacher, the significance of the teacher was clear during the different stages of development as a musician and especially during the stage of professional studies as a guide into the culture and practices of the field. The concepts and theory of educational sciences proved necessary and handy tools even in the research of music teaching. To popularise or model the contextual thinking of teaching related to the teaching of music, more descriptive research in the field is needed as well as descriptions of various everyday teaching events, the teaching of students of different ages, etc. The future challenges that this research points out include research of the narrative character of teachers' knowledge in general. How do teachers use storytelling in teaching, into what kind of stories are the things to be taught woven? 2. Millaisia opetusstrategioita ja -tyylejä soittotunneilla käytetään? 3. Millaisia opetustarinoita soittotunneilla kerrotaan? 4. Millaiseksi opettaja ja opiskelijat kertovat suhteensa toisiinsa ja musiikkiin? Tarkastelen soitonopetusta myös siihen liitetyn mestari–kisälli-perinteen näkökulmasta ja varsinaisten tutkimustehtävien lisäksi pohdin, millaiseksi mestari–kisälli-perinne voidaan kertoa tämän tutkimuksen perusteella. Tutkimus on lähestymistavaltaan narratiivinen. Tutkimuksen jatkohaasteena nähdään yleisestikin opettajan tiedon narratiivisen luonteen tutkiminen. Miten opettajat käyttävät kertomista opetuksessaan, esimerkiksi millaisiin tarinoihin opetettavat asiat kerrotaan?

The study, a qualitative approach in the case study method, was guided by the principles of the Social Representation Theory and in the Complexity Theory. In the collecting and production of the data, we used systematic observation of teaching practice, both in the classroom and in the construction site, and interviews with the use of stimulus question. The observed group consisted of 36 students. Of these, we selected 12 students and the faculty for interviews. The study was referenced in authors such as Ribeiro (2004, 2009, 2010), Moraes (2003), Pinto (2005), Tassoni and Santos (2013), Damasio (2000), among others, to handle on the concept of affectivity, emotion and feeling ; Ribeiro, Jutras and Louis (2005), Veras and Ferreira (2010), Carpim, Behrens and Torres (2014), Freire (1996), Postic (2007) and others to discuss the teaching practice concepts and Moscovici (2003) and Jodelet (2005) to support the Theory of Social Representations; Morin, 2007; Moraes, 2008; Behrens, 2007 to support the Complexity Theory. The Data analysis was inspired by the Bardin Content Analysis (2010). During the analysis three dimensions were identified: a) the affective sense in the educational relationship; b) the challenges of the affective relationship between teachers and students; c) the facing of the challenges of affective relationship in teaching practice. The results show that the meanings attributed by research collaborators in relation to affectivity are linked: to the idea of pleasure in teaching; the teacher's attitudes towards students; the personal qualities of the teacher. The challenges to be faced refers to the promotion of changes in relation to the teacher attitudes with students and to the changes in teaching strategies. With regard to the possibilities to face the challenges, it was evident the need for reflection on the practice itself and the continuing training of higher education teachers. In addition, the results show that the affective teacher is near, supportive, welcoming, cares with the training needs of students, respect cultural differences, is dedicated to the profession, is a friend, has common sense, sensitivity, flexibility and humanity in dealing with cognitive and affective difficulties of students. The main conclusion of this study was that the centrality of the practice of the teacher considered affective is on students learning.

"Utan stöd hade jag hoppat av" : några elevröster om stöd i studierna inom en kommunal vuxenutbildning / "Without support, I would have dropped out" : some students' voices on support in municipal adult education studies

von Melen, Maria January 2020 (has links)
Resultatets tematiska analys, delar in data i fem kategorier: tillgänglighet, bemötande, motivation, förutsättningar och relation. / The study investigates how students in need of support within municipal adult education, perceive the support given as well as its effects on their results or preconditions. The study’s aim originates from today’s changed and thereby more heterogenic student groups in combination with the lack of a mandatory multi-professional school health care teams. Theoretical perspectives used are the sociocultural theory, relational pedagogy and the theory of KASAM. The participants were upper secondary school students and were asked to answer an anonymous digital survey as well as to participate in a semi-structured interview. The result showed that a majority of the students experience that they have been given the support needed from teachers, study and career guides and the special educator as well as other school professions. The themes that were found were organized in five categories: accessibility, reception, motivation, preconditions and relationship. The analysis showed that trustful relationships included a trustable reception and accessibility, both pedagogically and socio-emotionally, which could lead to increased preconditions and thereby to an increased motivation in a circular process. The discussion gave that the role of the special educator, together with head teachers and the school board, could work together with school development within the municipal adult education; the special educator’s role could then be to be responsible for bringing a scientific ground to further education to school professions about the importance of trustful relations for this student group.

Ninth Grade Student and Teacher Perceptions of Teacher-Student Relationship

Huggins, Lynda Rose 01 January 2016 (has links)
The challenge of transitioning into high school is associated with social anxiety, decreased grades, increased absences, and overall motivation to learn. Based on anecdotal evidence from 9th grade teachers in the Ohio School District, teachers had poor rapport with some of their students, and 9th graders were being retained more often than were students in any other grade. Grounded in Noddings's care theory, the purpose of this mixed methods sequential case study was to explore perceptions of rapport between 9th graders and their teachers. Guiding research questions were used to discover student and teacher perceptions about their relationship as it relates to care, respect, and communication. Archived data from Gallop Poll surveys given to 9th grade students at 3 schools (n = 163) demonstrated student perceptions of their relationships with teachers. Additionally, 15 teachers were randomly selected for a focus group interview about rapport with students. The interview transcripts were coded for emergent themes related to the guiding questions. The analysis of the Gallup Poll data included calculation of the mean, standard deviation, median, item score range, mode, and raw-data frequencies/percent for responses to answer the respective research questions. Responses on the survey showed that students perceived a moderate level of bonding with teachers, while the interview data showed that there were issues related to communication with students, administrative support of teachers, and sincerity of teacher care for students. The project outcome is a professional development about communication amongst teacher and students, teachers and teachers, and teachers and administration to improve rapport and reduce the prevalence and impact of adverse events such as dropout and other forms of disengagement.

Mellan närhet och distans. Lärar-elevrelationen som kunskapsinnehåll i grundlärarutbildning

Wistrand, Anna January 2023 (has links)
This dissertation takes its point of departure in a relational perspective on education, which means that the relationship between teacher and student is seen as fundamental for students’ knowledge- and personal development. The aim is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the teacher-student relationship in teacher education at national and local levels and the different meanings of closeness in this context.       The theoretical basis of the study is curriculum theory-based didactics, where questions about knowledge content and teaching as offering meaning are central. The thesis consists of three separate studies. The first investigates closeness in the teacher-student relationship by means of a thematic conceptual analysis of the field of research in educational science on teacher-student relationships. Four different dimensions of closeness were identified: closeness as presence, closeness as care, closeness as feeling and closeness as responsibility. The results show a nuanced way of understanding closeness in the teacher-student relationship and that closeness is challenging for teachers in that it makes their relational work more complex.      The central question in curriculum theory - ‘What opportunities do students have to learn about the teacher-student relationship in teacher education?’ - is used as the point of departure in the analysis of educational policy documents at national and local levels. The second study investigates content knowledge at the national level and shows a limited and simplified view of the relationship between teacher and student. By using the dimensions of closeness as analytical tools, a multifaceted teacher-student relationship is constructed as an alternative meaning offering. In the third study, eleven Swedish universities participated in the study of curriculum documents at the local level. The analysis showed three types of knowledge content: relational theory, relational work and relational quality. In this study, the local documents together provided a broad range of knowledge content, but individually a reduced and simplified knowledge content. The study also confirmed the differences between universities in their teacher education programmes and that there are often discrepancies in the knowledge content that is offered.      The thesis as a whole contributes to a nuanced understanding of closeness in the teacher-student relationship and provides a set of theoretical tools that can be used in an analysis of different types of research studies. It also indicates that the policy documents relating to teacher education at the national and local levels contain simplified and limited notions about the teacher-student relationship and teachers’ relational work as knowledge content. This restricted knowledge content could limit student teachers’ abilities to create, build and maintain good and close teacher-student relationships and to address the relational challenges in their complex relational work.
