This work examines possible safety risks associated with the operation of IIoT technologies in industrial production. The content of this document is an analysis of used IIoT technologies, their purpose and method of implementation into production processes and the company's technology strategy. The outcome of this analysis will serve to develop possible risk scenarios and their associated impacts. Finally, I recommend possible changes that either eliminate these risks completely or at least minimize them.

跨國藥廠資訊科技策略之研究--以某藥廠為案例探討

藥廠在資訊科技的運用上,相較於電子業或其他高科技產業,一直都被認為是較保守的方式。究其原因,應為資訊科技在製藥業的競爭上,較難成為核心的競爭武器之一,因此,資訊科技在製藥業一直被定位為協助企業內部作業面的工具。而非協助企業達成營運目標的工具。然而,近十年來,大型跨國藥廠透過不斷地購併其他藥廠的方式,達成其擴大市場佔有率、鞏固產業中領先地位、縮短產品研發時間、及擴大產品線的廣度與深度的目的。並藉由購併後組織必須重整的過程,對組織進行人力的精減及成本的樽節。僅管跨國藥廠一直設法對人力及成本作有效的控制,但隨著購併不停地發生,不僅產品增多,組織也日益龐大,跨國藥廠所面臨到的財務、法律、人力資源、業務行銷、行政作業等各種事務也越來越繁雜。雖然跨國藥廠有其充沛的資源及豐富的跨國管理經驗,但若要能有效又即時地對全球各據點加以掌控,就必須對資訊科技的運用作全球的統一規劃,並建立全球資訊科技策略,以確實控管及協助各子公司的營運。而對各國的子公司,則應有能協助該公司在當地市場競爭的相對策略,資訊科技在市場激烈的競爭下,開始扮演越來越重要的角色。 本研究為探討性的個案研究,係以一跨國藥廠在台灣的子公司作為研究的個案,期望透過相關的文獻、對個案公司在資訊科技運用的探討、及個案公司主管對資訊科技的看法及需求,能夠達到以下的研究目的: 壹、了解跨國藥廠對資訊科技的運用現況。 貳、了解跨國藥廠發展狀況與營運方向,以規劃個案公司資訊科技的發展方向。 參、建立個案公司資訊科技策略,以提升運作績效,掌握時勢利基。 / The Pharmaceutical Industry, compared with Electronics Industry or other Hi-Tech Industries, is perceived to be relatively conservative in the application of Information Technology. The reason is being that Information Technology application to the Pharmaceutical Industry rarely plays any key role for market competition. As a consequence, Information Technology to the Pharmaceutical Industry has been an operational tool to support the back office functions, rather than a management tool to assist the business to achieve its operational goals. Nevertheless, in recent decade, giant transnational pharmaceutical companies are continuously achieving their objectives of expanding market shares, sustaining their leadership, shortening the time frame in Research and Development, and enlarging their product pipelines, through mergers and acquisitions. They have been re-deploying the human resources and implementing cost reductions by all means within the entire organization after merger and acquisition takes place and reorganization becomes necessary. Despite that transnational pharmaceutical companies have been striving to contain headcount and control expenses, they have found themselves facing to the increasingly complex operations in many aspects, including Finance, Legal, Human Resource Management, Sales and Marketing, and General Administration as a result of expansion in product pipelines and explosion in organization that comes along with mergers and acquisitions. Although transnational pharmaceutical companies have ample resources and well experienced in cross-nation management, they have to integrate their global information technology and establish a unified strategy for universal implementation, so as to enable monitoring and assisting the operations of all subsidiaries around the globe in an effective and timely manner. As such, Information Technology starts to play an increasingly important role in developing responsive strategies under the intense local market competition. This essay is a case study on a Taiwanese subsidiary owned by a transnational pharmaceutical company. It aims to achieve the following objectives by referring to relevant publications and observing the subject company’s information technology applications and their management’s views and needs on the above. 1. To understand the current applications on information technology by transnational pharmaceutical companies; 2. To understand the evolution track and business directions of transnational pharmaceutical companies to set an Information Technology development plan for the subject company. 3. To establish Information Technology Strategy for the subject company to improve operation efficiency as an advantage of obtaining timely and valuable information.

Blockchain é uma tecnologia descentralizada de gerenciamento de transações e dados desenvolvida, primeiramente, para a moeda digital bitcoin. O interesse na tecnologia blockchain tem aumentado desde que o termo foi cunhado. Esse interesse fez com que este fenômeno se tornasse, atualmente, um dos principais tópicos de pesquisa e publicação na Web. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é entender de que forma o fenômeno blockchain está impactando na estratégia tecnológica. Para tanto, foi realizado um estudo exploratório utilizando o processo de Descoberta de Conhecimento em Texto (DCT), com a utilização de ferramentas de mineração de textos, de forma a coletar e analisar o conteúdo de um conjunto de notícias publicadas na Web sobre a tecnologia blockchain. Foram extraídas 2.605 notícias da Web sobre blockchain, publicadas entre os anos 2015 e 2017, no idioma inglês. Como resultado do estudo, foram geradas 6 proposições, mostrando que este fenômeno está impactando a estratégia tecnológica da indústria financeira direcionando o foco deste setor para implementação de soluções em arquiteturas descentralizadas. Também foi verificado que o foco estratégico tecnológico das empresas impulsionou o desenvolvimento das tecnologias de blockchain privadas. Identificou-se, também, os benefícios trazidos por esta tecnologia para sistemas de pagamentos entre países, diminuindo os intermediários e melhorando os processos. Ainda, foi possível mapear que esta tecnologia tem potencial para afetar as transações através de uma plataforma eletrônica comum. Em relação ao grau de maturidade desta tecnologia, foi realizada uma discussão dos achados das análises das notícias com a teoria da difusão da inovação e concluiu-se que esta tecnologia está no limiar entre as categorias de Innovators e Early Adopters. O mapa produzido por esta pesquisa ajudará empresas e profissionais na identificação de oportunidades de direcionamento das suas estratégias tecnológicas para a tecnologia de blockchain. / The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) revolution made companies realize the importance of technology strategy for their survival. Blockchain is a decentralized transaction and data management technology first developed for the bitcoin digital currency. The interest in blockchain technology has increased since the idea was coined. This interest has made this phenomenon one of the main topics of research and publication on the Web. The main objective of this paper is to understand how the blockchain phenomenon is impacting technology strategy. To do so, an exploratory study was conducted using the Knowledge Discovery in Text (KDT) process, with the use of text mining tools, to collect and analyze the contents of a set of news published on the Web about blockchain technology. At total, 2605 blockchain web news were extracted, all news were published between the years of 2015 and 2017, in the English language. As a result of the study, 6 propositions were generated, in which the results showed that this phenomenon is impacting the technology strategy of the financial industry, directing the focus of this sector to the implementation of solutions using decentralized architectures. It was also verified that the companies’ strategic technological focus boosted the development of private blockchain technologies. Additionally, was identified the benefits brought by this technology to cross-border payment systems, reducing intermediaries and improving processes. Also, it was possible to map out that this technology has the potential to affect the transactions through a common electronic platform. In relation to the degree of maturity of this technology, a discussion of the findings with the theory of the diffusion of innovation was made and it is concluded that this technology is in the threshold between the categories of Innovators and Early Adopters. The map produced by this research will help companies and professionals in identifying opportunities to target their technology strategies to blockchain technology.

本研究主要探討汽車業向技術母廠取得技術及經由組織學習提升本身能力和累積知識基礎的過程,以擁有成功技術移轉經驗及優異學習能力的中華汽車為研究主體,結合技術移轉與組織學習兩個研究子題,探討中華與日本三菱技術移轉的過程及中華組織學習的情形,主要研究目的為探討組織在進行技術移轉後,如何將外部取得的技術與知識有效地移轉到組織內部,並經由組織的學習機制,在吸收、內化及整理後使知識在組織內儲存及擴散,並成為下一次創新的基礎。 本研究採用「個案研究法」,只選擇中華汽車一家企業以深度訪談的方式,深入地報導企業的實際做法並將完整知識流通的過程結合文獻發展命題。主要的結論有十四個:知識取得與轉換方面為「技術移轉的雙方針對各自所訂定的目標及不同的策略考量會有選擇性的移轉及應用技術」、「移轉技術的類型會影響技術移轉過程中的移轉媒介及溝通密度」、「移轉技術的內容不同將影響其傳遞及轉換的模式」、「技術接受者的技術成熟度與組織複雜度愈高將有助於提昇連續性技術移轉的成效」。知識吸收與內化方面為「組織中相對應的學習活動有助於技術移轉成效的提升及確保技術成功的移轉」、「組織的知識基礎及累積的技術實力有助於組織吸收能力的提升」、「負責技術移轉與傳遞的人員特性會影響知識吸收與內化的程度」。知識整理與整合方面為「跨越疆界者的角色有助於多元化知識與資訊的整理與交流」、「有效的知識系統或觀念架構是將個人的知識分布圖組成組織知識地圖的關鍵成功要素」、「建立知識地圖的觀念架構在收集、儲存、取用知識的過程中應有彈性以配合知識多樣化的特性」。知識儲存與擴散方面為「跨部門的協調與聯結機制有助於知識的儲存與擴散」、「組織須有分享的機制以促進知識的擴散」、「標準化的電子格式系統有助於提升知識儲存與取用的效率」。知識創新方面為「知識的創新必須建立在過去系統化知識的累積與知識在實踐中累積的經驗」。

Estratégia tecnológica e desempenho inovador: análise das pequenas e médias empresas produtoras de equipamentos médico-hospitalares de São Carlos e Ribeirão Preto.

Two hypotheses were delineated: (1) the medical equipment firms located in São Carlos and Ribeirão Preto that reached higher innovation performances in the last three years, differ from the ones that reached lower innovation performances in the dimensions of their technology strategies; and (2) the medical equipment technology-based firms located in São Carlos and Ribeirão Preto differ from the ones which are not considered as technology-based firms in the dimensions of their technology strategies. In order to analyze those hypotheses, data about TBF status, TS, and innovation performance were collected from thirty nine medical equipment producers located in São Carlos and Ribeirão Preto. An structured questionnaire was utilized for this purpose. The analysis of this information shows that the technology strategies adopted by the medical equipment firms that reached higher innovation performances are different in many aspects from the ones adopted by those that reached lower innovation performances. There are also differences between the TSs adopted by the medical equipment technology-based firms and the TSs adopted by those which are not considered as technology-based firms. Regarding the firms which reached higher and lower innovation, some indications were obtained that larger investments in internal activities of research and development and in external sources of technology, larger dedication to technology forecasting, and development of a wide portfolio of product and process technologies have allowed the firms to reach larger innovation performances. Regarding TBFs and Not-TBFs, it was observed that the TBFs have worked for the enlargement of their innovation and acquisition capacities of product technologies. Examples of their efforts: (1) large investments in internal R&D activities destined to innovations in product; (2) the number of engineers and scientists allocated to these activities; (3) the amount of key product technologies that those firms have; and (4) their large dedication to technology forecasting, etc. On the other hand, there were indications that N-TBFs (when they carry out some technological effort) dedicate themselves to the enlargement of their operation and adaptation capacities to operate their facilities more efficiently. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal verificar quais são as estratégias tecnológicas (ET) adotadas pelas empresas, empresas de base tecnológica (EBTs) ou não, do setor de equipamentos médico-hospitalares de São Carlos e Ribeirão Preto e seus desempenhos inovadores. Foram delineadas duas hipóteses: (1) As empresas do setor de equipamentos médico-hospitalares localizadas em São Carlos e em Ribeirão Preto que alcançaram maiores desempenhos inovadores, nos últimos três anos, diferem das que alcançaram desempenhos mais baixos em suas dimensões de estratégia tecnológica; e (2) As empresas do setor de equipamentos médico-hospitalares localizadas em São Carlos e em Ribeirão Preto consideradas como sendo de base tecnológica diferem das não consideradas como de base tecnológica em suas dimensões de estratégia tecnológica. Para analisar tais hipóteses, foi realizado um survey junto a trinta e nove empresas do setor de equipamentos médico-hospitalares localizadas em São Carlos e Ribeirão Preto. Para conduzir o survey foi aplicado um questionário estruturado nessas empresas. Os dados coletados foram todos tabulados e analisados estatisticamente. Os resultados mostram que as estratégias tecnológicas adotadas pelas empresas dos grupos daquelas de maior e menor desempenho inovador são diferentes em muitos aspectos; Também há diferenças entre as estratégias tecnológicas das EBTs e das N-EBTs (não- EBTs). Em relação às empresas de maior e menor desempenho inovador, basicamente obteve-se indícios de que maiores investimentos em atividades internas de pesquisa e desenvolvimento e em fontes externas de tecnologia, maior dedicação à previsão tecnológica e o desenvolvimento de um amplo portfolio de tecnologias de produto e de processo permitem às empresas alcançarem maiores desempenhos inovadores. Já em relação às EBTs e N-EBTs, observou-se claramente um esforço por parte das EBTs em ampliar suas capacidades de inovação e aquisição de tecnologias de produto. Como exemplos, esse esforço se concretiza por meio das altas parcelas de seus investimentos em atividades de P&D destinadas a inovações em produto, do número de engenheiros e cientistas alocados a essas atividades, da alta quantidade de tecnologias chaves de produto que essas empresas detêm, da intensidade com que realizam a previsão tecnológica, etc. Por outro lado, foram obtidos indícios de que as N-EBTs, quando realizam algum esforço tecnológico, voltam-se, principalmente, para a ampliação das suas capacidades de operação e adaptação, tendo por objetivo operar suas instalações produtivas mais eficientemente.

The development of an internal technology strategy assessment framework within the services sector utilising total quality management (TQM) principles

Technology is accepted as one of the key aspects that influence society and business in an unmistakable manner. Current literature is however not singular in its views and methods of technology strategy, its interface with business strategy, and how technology strategy is executed and assessed internally. The text adopts a 3-tiered domain approach at the outset, focusing on the integration of (i) strategy, (ii) measurement and (iii) architecture. The literature assessment was carried out on the hand of the three domains and ultimately resulted in the proposed internal technology strategy assessment framework for the services sector. At the heart of the framework is the merging of the disciplines and current models of (i) technology management (MOT), (ii) business architecture, (iii) strategic performance measurement and (iv) total quality management. The model aims to indicate that specific modelling techniques coupled with an excellence scorecard, can facilitate the mathematical assessment of strategic contribution of individual technology artefacts to a specific business strategy. The proposed model is represented in the text in flowchart form and is supplemented by the derivation of the required research approach, namely case study protocol. Three case studies were conducted, each of which is resident in the services sector, and the tabulated results are presented in the text and its appendixes. The results obtained indicate that strategic artefact differentiation on a procedural level can indeed be obtained. Estratégias tecnológicas em transformação: um estudo da indústria farmacêutica brasileira

We support that important institutional changes, as Patent‟s and Generic‟s Laws, have induced transformations on market insertion and competitive position of this companies and also have stimulated research and development efforts in Brazil. The research was based on the technology strategy and pharmaceutical industry literature and also on interviews with a group of Brazilian pharmaceutical companies, which are among the top companies in the pharmaceutical national rank and which, through a preview academic study, give us signals of growing efforts in technology activities and of inflections in their technological strategies. The research confirmed that the studied companies passed through a significant intensification of their technology efforts, but they are still above the global level and without big impact. In fact, the Brazilian pharmaceutical companies developed new drugs, as the Helleva of Cristália and the Acheflan of Aché. Besides that, almost all the studied companies are involved with innovative projects. However, the number of patents is still very low, what reflects the reduced capacity of patentable innovations. Indeed, a considerable share of their technology efforts is directed towards products which are not patentable, as generic drugs. Hence, most of the Brazilian pharmaceutical companies focus on brands and other commercial assets as an appropriability mechanism. / Esta dissertação tem como objetivo avaliar a extensão das mudanças nas estratégias tecnológicas de um grupo de empresas farmacêuticas de capital nacional ensejadas por alterações no ambiente institucional ocorridas na década de 1990. Supunha-se que mudanças institucionais importantes, como as leis de Patentes e do Medicamento Genérico, teriam induzido transformações na inserção de mercado e na posição competitiva dessas empresas e desencadeado um processo de intensificação do esforço de pesquisa e desenvolvimento de tecnologia farmacêutica no país, com o aumento dos recursos destinados a P&D, a montagem de novas estruturas organizacionais orientadas a esse fim e a formação de esquemas de cooperação com agentes externos às empresas. Do ponto de vista metodológico, esta pesquisa, embora precedida de uma revisão abrangente da literatura pertinente, caracteriza-se como um estudo de multicasos. As empresas que compõem a amostra pesquisada foram definidas a partir do cruzamento de dois critérios: (i) são todas empresas de porte relevante, situadas entre as maiores no ranking nacional do setor; e (ii) o exame prévio das referências setoriais em estudos acadêmicos e na imprensa sugeria serem casos particularmente reveladores de intensificação do esforço tecnológico e de inflexões em suas estratégias tecnológicas. A pesquisa confirmou que as empresas estudadas passaram por uma significativa intensificação do esforço tecnológico, o que não impede que, relativamente ao padrão de concorrência vigente em escala internacional, esses esforços continuem a ser, em média, modestos e sem grande impacto. Há, de fato, iniciativas importantes de desenvolvimento de novos produtos, como o Helleva da Cristália e o Acheflan do Aché, e de competências de síntese de fármacos da mesma Cristália e da Biolab. Deve-se pesar também o fato de praticamente todas as empresas investigadas estarem envolvidas em projetos inovadores e a orientação tecnológica de algumas transações de aquisição de ativos. No entanto, é ainda muito baixo o número de patentes, o que, em empresas já capacitadas no âmbito da defesa da propriedade intelectual, reflete em última análise a baixa capacidade de gerar inovações patenteáveis. Com efeito, boa parte do esforço tecnológico é direcionado a objetivos que, por definição, não são patenteáveis, como o desenvolvimento de genéricos e similares. Logo, é coerente não só a primazia de inovações que só o são para a empresa, mas também a preferência pelas marcas e outros ativos comerciais como mecanismo de apropriação.

2007年6月,華碩電腦發表Eee PC精簡式筆記型電腦,此創新產品俟後由臺灣資訊工業策進會市場情報中心(MIC)統稱為精簡型小筆電,簡稱小筆電,英文名稱則採用美商英代爾對於這款產品的統稱:Netbook。 Eee PC所設定的目標市場著眼於消費性市場,將產品定位於已開發國家使用者的第二臺電腦以及開發中國家使用者的第一臺電腦。產品上市後掀起銷售高潮,由於小筆電的加入,筆記型電腦在2008年第三季出貨量首度超越桌上型電腦,比先前2007年預估提早兩年,Eee PC因而被譽為臺灣電腦廠商價值創新的一大步。 本研究主要的探討問題有四:核心技術能耐發展策略對於產品創新的影響為何? 品牌與ODM廠商在創新產品開發上的合作與分工為何? 品牌廠商因應競爭者之破壞性創新的作法為何? 核心技術能耐為基礎的產品創新在市場上所需具備的成功條件為何? 在研究設計上以策略與組織、技術、市場三構面做為主要分析架構。策略與組織構面由領導者企圖心、核心競爭優勢、企業文化、組織架構、企業網絡定位等變項構成;技術構面上由產品研發經驗、內部知識傳遞、外部資源網絡、產品開發管理等變項構成;市場構面由品牌效益、顧客需求、產品行銷、產業合作網絡等變項組成用以探討對於破壞性創新產品構思及開發階段的影響。研究方法上採用「個案研究法」,以領導廠商華碩與宏碁為研究對象。在資料上透過企業訪談與次級資料蒐集的方式來了解個案公司在創新產品的發展過程,並結合核心競爭力、產業價值鏈、破壞性創新、新產品開發程序、吸收能耐與知識傳遞、技術面競爭策略等學理加以分析,本研究所獲得的研究發現如下: 一.建立核心競爭能耐的方向及重點決定了企業在產業價值鏈的位置與所從事的價值活動。 二.企業基於核心技術能耐發展策略而對產品創新方向做出技術領導者與技術追隨者的不同策略選擇。技術領導者著重產品的破壞性創新設計,技術追隨者著重於產品成熟技術的市場性。 三.品牌廠商與ODM的研發製造合作關係上,考量中心點在於顧客對企業的認知價值。品牌廠商並以平均分配(Allocation)與相互制衡(Leverage)為策略,取得各家資源之長為己用。 四.設計代工廠從OEM經營模式進入ODM經營模式,在逐步接手研發價值活動後,ODM設計製造廠開始投入自主研發,成為個人電腦產品技術提供者。但在缺乏通路品牌下,所創造的產品創新價值只能透過品牌廠技術採用將創新價值傳達至消費者。 五.企業發展破壞性創新產品時,原價值網絡上具產業主導地位的供應商透過關鍵技術的掌握,並經由品牌行銷掌握終端使用者,形成不易突破的慣性,對於廠商產品創新產生鉗制作用。 六.企業發展破壞性創新產品若無法取得市場客戶對產品的價值認同,則雖有技術成就,但難以成為產品的競爭優勢。 七.企業在發展破壞性創新產品過程中,若缺乏行銷業務部門參與,將可能造成產品上市後的市場資訊掌握失準。 八.破壞性創新產品所設定於原價值網絡的目標市場,往往因為高科技產業的不確定性因素,在實際執行時意外產生新應用,產品因而進入新價值網絡的新市場。 九.破壞性創新產品進入新市場時不確定因素多,廠商因需求不易掌握而經常發生嘗試錯誤的探索行為,但市場晚入者觀察先驅者經驗,往往能立即掌握正確資訊而迅速反應市場需求。 十.企業發展破壞性創新產品,若未造成有效技術差距,技術領導者與市場先驅者將不易維持首動者優勢。技術追隨者與市場晚入者藉由學習領導者經驗將有機會快速超越。 本研究最後並提出一些實務上建議,以做為產業界發展核心技術能耐策略與發展破壞性創新產品的參考。 / In June, 2007, Asus Computer announced her Eee PC in Computex Taipei, Taiwan International Computer Exhibition. The simplified notebook then named “Netbook” due to its lightweight design and focused internet application. Eee PC was aimed on consumer market of developed countries, targeted as “Secondary Computer” for existing computer users, as well as first computer to the user of the developing world, the name “Eee” derives from "the three Es", an abbreviation of its advertising slogan for the device: "Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play". By third quarter of 2008, notebook shipped quantity including netbook, had exceeded desktop computer, two years advance from prior market research report’s estimation made before netbook product rollout in 2007. Eee PC was praised as stride-out of value innovation of Taiwan computer industry. Problem discoveries and definitions in this research are: first of all, what is the influence of core technology development strategy toward product innovation? Second, how brand owner works with ODM suppliers on innovative product development? Third, how brand owner reacts to disruptive innovation? Last, what are market successful factors of an innovative product which based on core technology competence? Analysis framework of this research consists of three aspects: strategy and organization, technology, marketing. As an exploratory study, research design is qualitative research and case study over certain firms: Asus and Acer, with 90% market shares of netbook in year 2008. For data gathering, primary data came from interviews to firms’ management team members, specifically R&D and PM Directors, secondary data studies came from varies sources: research reports, annual reports, and so on. To explore the influence of core technology competence toward product innovation in idea generation and product development stage, study of related theories in advance is necessary: core competence, value chain, disruptive innovation, new product development procedure, absorptive capability, knowledge transmission, and competitive strategy of technology. Discoveries of this research are: 1.Direction and focus of establishing core competence decides the firm’s position in value chain and the value activities firm engaged. 2.Core technology competence development strategy directs firm’s choice of technology leader or follower, leader focuses on innovative product design, follower focuses on mature technology’s market taking. 3.Customers perceive value is the key consideration that brand owners work with ODM suppliers. “Allocation and Leverage” are strategy that brand owners manage multiple ODM suppliers. 4.From OEM to ODM business model, ODM firms start to develop own independent research projects, this trend leads ODM to be technology supplier in foreseeable future. But, research results can only go through brand owners to consumer market. 5.Key technology suppliers of existing value network will obstruct disruptive innovation products through market’s inertia. 6.Technology based innovative products can’t have competitive advantage in the market without customer’s perceive value. 7.Sales marketing team’s participation is important for disruptive innovation during product development stage. 8.Unexpected new value network will emerge due to uncertainty of high-tech industry, new application out of target market leads to new value network which is different from existing one. 9.Pioneer frequently tries and error for disruptive innovation product due to uncertainty of market, late entrant learned from pioneer’s experience, and react to market demand efficiently. 10.Innovative product without technology gap, firm can’t maintain first mover advantage too long, technology follower have chance to transcend in short period. Conclusions of this research are summarized from above discoveries, and suggestions to industry firms made by this research can be reference to firms’ development strategy of core technology competence as well as product development of disruptive innovation.
