This paper studies three Swedish textbooks for the A-course in religious studies, in the Swedish equivalency of high school, to see if the image of Islam and Muslims presented is diverse or homogeneous and exotic. The purpose of the study is to see whether or not the religious studies can contribute to the forming of islamophobic beliefs in pupils. Studies have shown that islamophobia is widespread in Sweden, therefore it could be interesting to see if the schools play any part in the forming or spreading of islamophobic views. The conclusion reached is that this cannot be excluded as a possibility. There are still some textbooks that present Muslims in a homogeneous and exotic manner to some degree. So it cannot be ruled out that the education, if guided by a textbook, can be a cause of a homogeneous and exotic view of Muslims, which ultimately can lead to islamophobia. / Den här uppsatsen undersöker tre läroböcker i religionskunskap för A-kursen i gymnasieskolan. Syftet är att se om böckerna presenterar en homogeniserad och exotisk bild av muslimer och islam, och därmed även vara en möjlig orsak till bildandet av islamofobiska föreställningar hos eleverna. Undersökningar har visat att islamofobin är påtaglig i Sverige, därför kan det vara av intresse att undersöka om skolan spelar någon roll i spridandet eller bildandet av islamofobiska åsikter. Slutsatsen som nås är att detta inte kan uteslutas som möjlighet. Det finns än idag läroböcker som i viss mån presenterar muslimer som en exotisk homogen grupp. Det kan alltså inte uteslutas att religionsundervisningen, om den styrs av en lärobok, kan ge upphov till en homogeniserad och exotisk bild av muslimer och som i förlängningen kan orsaka islamofobi.

Uppsatsen behandlar gudserfarenhet och språkbruk hos Jean-Jacques Rousseau och dess likheter med pietismen. Både Rousseau och pietismen betonade människans känslor framför förnuftet, i en för övrigt förnuftsorienterad tid. De menade att människans känslor måste tillåtas komma till uttryck i trosfrågor och när de talar om hur människan erfar Gud och det gudomliga använder de liknande ord och begrepp. Studiens syfte är således att studera dessa likheter, med fokus på Rousseaus språkbruk och bildvärld.

Syftet med den här studien är att göra en fördjupad undersökning om lärares uppfattningar och förhållningssätt inom skolan beträffande mötet mellan begreppen skolplikt och religionsfrihet i relation till islam. I förhållande till detta vill vi undersöka exemplet slöjan, samt lärarnas uppfattning om vem som bär ansvaret för att skolplikt och religionsfrihet infrias i verksamheten. I studien använder vi oss av en kvalitativ forskningsmetod. I undersökningen gör vi intervjuer med elva lärare, verksamma på fyra kommunala högstadieskolor i en och samma kommun. Studiens resultat visar att lärarna till största del uppfattar att skolplikt, religionsfrihet och islam går att förena utan stridigheter inom skolan. Lärarna tar upp praktiska situationer där en kollision kan uppstå, men de flesta anser att det är situationer som går att lösa. En förutsättning för ett fungerande möte vad gäller barnens religionsfrihet i skolan är enligt lärarna goda relationer mellan rektor, lärare, elev och föräldrar.

The Swedish government ratified on May 1 2009 an amendment of marital law, resulting in same-sex marriage becoming legalized. With the rights of the Christian Swedish state church to officiate weddings originating from the same law, the church was thereby faced with two options: Either officially include same-sex couples in the Christian concept of holy matrimony and keep the right to officiate weddings; or give up the right to officiate weddings altogether. An official decision to accept the terms was reached on October 22 2009, but not without being preceded by an agitated medial debate.This research attempts to analyze the arguments of the debate in three stages: In the first stage the arguments are categorized according to their respective ideological standpoint. In the second stage these categories are examined from post-modern, social constructivist and socialization theory perspectives. Based on this, the third stage sees the arguments analyzed from a viewpoint based in the Copenhagen school concept of securization.The research concludes that the debate does not only simply feature two sides with differences of opinion; but rather that the arguments of the two opposing sides are founded in a common view of the other side as a fundamental threat to ones conception of a sound society.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the Swedish Plymouth brethren’s relation to contemporary technology. What types of technology are considered acceptable and where do they draw the line? Due to the brethren’s separation from the parts of the world they believe leads people away from God, such as the entertainment industry, immoralities etc., they reject use of television and radio. These two are viewed as uncontrolled types of technology since the user does not have control of its contents. Computers and mobile phones are however accepted types of technology nowadays, since the user can choose what content they wish to explore. These can also be filtered. The qualities a type of technology must have to be accepted by the brethren is a clear purpose and usage. It must also be possible to control and/or modify to suit the brethren’s values. It cannot be used solely for pleasure, pastime, immoralities and/or be uncontrolled and impossible to modify. The reason for the brethren’s complex relation towards contemporary technology has to do with their will to live separated from worldly things. At the same time they claim they do not want to live isolated but be a part of contemporary society. In order to balance separation from the society with being a part of it at the same time, they have had to embrace technology but have negotiated with it in order for it to be in line with their teachings. Since the brethren also have many companies it is likely that they have had to adapt to the technological era in order to maintain their position on the market.

I Den onde, den gode och den fule. Jakten på den goda läroboken i Religionskunskap A ämnar vi att undersöka hur religionerna hinduism och buddhism presenteras i tre läromedelsböcker i Religionskunskap A för gymnasiet, samt hur väl Skolverkets styrdokument och en skola för alla förankras i dessa framställningar. Vi har använt oss av en komparativ analysmetod där vi har jämfört och ställt de tre läromedelsböckerna i relation till varandra för att kunna belysa deras likheter och skillnader. De teorier vi har använt oss av är: analytisk/positivistisk och hermeneutisk/dialektisk kunskapssyn, induktion, deduktion och abduktion samt ett etnocentriskt och genusrelaterat perspektiv. Teorierna bidrar till ett djup och en bredd i vår analys och belyser den mångfald som de tre läromedelsböckerna visar. Detta framgår i vårt resultat vilket tyder på att trots att samtliga av de undersökta läromedelsförfattarna har en gemensam och näst intill identisk kunskapssyn skiljer sig deras val av bredd, fokus och tillägnat utrymme för var och ett utav de olika avsnitten för religionerna. Undersökningen visar även att två av tre av de undersökta läromedelsböckernas författare speglar religionerna i enlighet med Skolverkets styrdokument.
