SET/SÄTT

Andersson, Jesper O. T. January 2020 (has links)
A complementary text to the masters project SET/SÄTT that includes an exhibition and an image-based essay in the format of a bound artist book.  The physical essay is made up of several risograph printed pages depicting images of the components that that compose SET/SÄTT. The pages are bound together so that it folds out in the fashion of a map or a gift card. Although, the book folds out into a myriad of interconnecting folds that takes some time and careful planning to expose. Every edition of the physical essay is unique. / SET/SÄTT is a “plastic” sculpture, malleable and subject to its surroundings. It consists of a collection of components with the same prerequisites, but whose combination is continually restructured in relation to its environment. Materially the work consists of wooden sticks with accompanying joints that lock into each other using tension in the fiber. My method is inspired by practices such as shipbuilding, woodworking, video game design, concretism and nomadic esthetics with the ambition to create a tool. An instrument that allows the user to quickly and with ease draw up lines within a space, like a three dimensional form of sketching. During the master exhibition, a series of sculptures were constructed, reconstructed and deconstructed in between open hours.

Pepe: an adaptive robot that helps children with autism to plan and self-manage their day.

Cañete Yaque, Raquel January 2021 (has links)
Covid19 has brought up physical and mental challenges for all of us. However, this is even more pronounced for those who suffer from psychological pathologies, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). One of the main challenges that parents of children with ASD faced during the pandemic was to plan and structure a daily routine for their kids. The disruption of the routine, together with the difficulty of combining work and the care of the child has resulted in behavioral problems and stress and anxiety for both, parents and children.    This project focused on developing an adaptive robot that helps children with autism to plan and self-manage their day, with the end goal of becoming more independent. With adaptability, agencies, senses, and playfulness at the core of the design, Pepe is meant as a support tool for these children to use along the way. By collecting information from the performance of the kid, it is able to adapt its behavior to the child´s (and parent´s) needs and desires, and therefore progress with the child. It builds upon the principles of Positive Behavioral Support to prevent emotional crises by embracing a long-run negotiation process, by which the child gets gradually closer to the end goal of self-autonomy. Intending to be adapted to the accentuated needs of these children, it combines traditional and computational elements to make the most out of the experience. This project included in-depth user research together with parents and experts, an interdisciplinary design approach, and a prototyping phase in which a prototype was tested with children with ASD.

Är njutning för kvinnor enbart genom fallos? : En studie kring formgivning av kvinnors sexleksaker utifrån normer

Öster Forsberg, Rhode January 2021 (has links)
I have studied and investigated why sex toys for women look the way they do and what the norms are that affect the design and use of sex toys for women.Through the collected information, I have investigated what can be done better. I have chosen to write about this as I believe that the market that exists now is limited and does not meet the needs that exist from women today. The design is in my opinion outdated and strengthens norms and prejudices from the past and thus inhibits sexual health among women. I have contacted experts in the field to learn more, done user studies and read literature that is relevant and interesting for the work that can strengthen me in my own discoveries. The final product will serve as an example of how design can help strengthen healthy uses and stimulate sexual health in women, and the product will also serve as a response to how sex toys should be designed to suit the needs of the market. The report cannot answer exactly why sex toys are designed the way they do, but I have addressed history and cultural norms that could possibly explain the design and design choices for women's sex toys. I also discuss why it is important to change the look of sex toys for women.

King of the Merchandise: How Showa Era Paratexts Forever Changed the Godzilla Franchise

Cooper, Dalton 05 1900 (has links)
The Godzilla media franchise is one of the longest running media franchises, which means the character himself has gone through many changes throughout the years. However, in American pop culture, the characters of Godzilla is perceived as a hero, a friend of humanity and defender of Earth. This reputation comes from the Showa Era, where Godzilla often fought on the side of humanity, rather than trying to destroy them as depicted in the original Gojira. In recent years, Toho, Godzilla's corporate owners, have been steering the King of the Monsters back into the villain role. Despite this tone shift by Godzilla's owners, American Godzilla paratexts still generally depict Godzilla as a hero. These depictions of Godzilla are used to maintain his status as a family friendly heritage brand and keep a door open for parents to introduce their children to the brand. Such a strategy allows Godzilla to survive into the modern day as an international powerhouse franchise.

"Jag kommer att leka med den för att den är blå iallafall..." : En studie om barns val av leksaker utifrån ett genusperspektiv / I will play with it because it's blue : A study of children's choice of toys from a gender perspective

Karlsson, Rebecca, Ingvarsson, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
