Transmission planétaire magnétique : étude, optimisation et réalisation / Magnetic planetary transmission : study, optimisation and realisation

Gouda, Eid Abdelbaki Ahmed 20 June 2011 (has links)
The work presented in this thesis deals with the study, the optimisation and the realisation of a magnetic planetary transmission. We try to answer some questions about the possibility of replacing the mechanical planetary gear used in industrial machines by a magnetic planetary gear; is the formula of Willis still valid for the magnetic planetary gear and are the magnetic planetary gear performances at least similar to ones of the mechanical gears? We study the replacement of the mechanical planetary gear by a magnetic one. We show that the magnetic one has a smaller volume, lower losses and many other benefits. The objective of this work is to obtain an optimum design of a magnetic planetary gear. We use a finite element software to study the magnetic behaviour of the device and we also perform the optimization of the dimensions of the magnetic planetary gear. The particle swarm optimization method (PSO) has been used. A prototype has been built so the computation results has been compared to the experimental ones.

Geometric design parameters of passenger trains for high speed and long journey.

Stech, Pedro Henrique 13 December 2011 (has links)
This dissertation has as main objective to guide in taking decisions for the selection of different parameters which involve the horizontal and vertical railway geometric design of high speed (HST) and long distance trains as well as theoretical concepts for describing security parameters and comfort, based on international standards. The research is developed through consultations in specialized magazines, articles, publications, standards and technical books. Due to the scarcity of data in the national language and outdated library materials, the research focuses primarily on international material. Although Brazil is a developing country with one of the highest rises in the global scene, the country has faced in recent decades serious infrastructure problems due to an uneven distribution in the area of transport, with high concentration in the road, and airports and roads operating above satisfactory capacity, resulted by a limited range of transportation alternatives. Due to the lack of investment in the railway sector, much of the Brazilian railway system became inoperative or even nonexistent, resulting in a tremendous decrease of skilled labor and academic training in this field. As a result, studies related to the railway project have also been directly impacted. In this context, it is important to rescue standards, publications, experiences and technical specifications adopted in other countries with strong tradition in railways in order to incorporate these concepts into our academic formation, which is one of the purposes of this dissertation.

Tensor product methods in numerical simulation of high-dimensional dynamical problems

Dolgov, Sergey 08 September 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Quantification of stochastic or quantum systems by a joint probability density or wave function is a notoriously difficult computational problem, since the solution depends on all possible states (or realizations) of the system. Due to this combinatorial flavor, even a system containing as few as ten particles may yield as many as $10^{10}$ discretized states. None of even modern supercomputers are capable to cope with this curse of dimensionality straightforwardly, when the amount of quantum particles, for example, grows up to more or less interesting order of hundreds. A traditional approach for a long time was to avoid models formulated in terms of probabilistic functions, and simulate particular system realizations in a randomized process. Since different times in different communities, data-sparse methods came into play. Generally, they aim to define all data points indirectly, by a map from a low amount of representers, and recast all operations (e.g. linear system solution) from the initial data to the effective parameters. The most advanced techniques can be applied (at least, tried) to any given array, and do not rely explicitly on its origin. The current work contributes further progress to this area in the particular direction: tensor product methods for separation of variables. The separation of variables has a long history, and is based on the following elementary concept: a function of many variables may be expanded as a product of univariate functions. On the discrete level, a function is encoded by an array of its values, or a tensor. Therefore, instead of a huge initial array, the separation of variables allows to work with univariate factors with much less efforts. The dissertation contains a short overview of existing tensor representations: canonical PARAFAC, Hierarchical Tucker, Tensor Train (TT) formats, as well as the artificial tensorisation, resulting in the Quantized Tensor Train (QTT) approximation method. The contribution of the dissertation consists in both theoretical constructions and practical numerical algorithms for high-dimensional models, illustrated on the examples of the Fokker-Planck and the chemical master equations. Both arise from stochastic dynamical processes in multiconfigurational systems, and govern the evolution of the probability function in time. A special focus is put on time propagation schemes and their properties related to tensor product methods. We show that these applications yield large-scale systems of linear equations, and prove analytical separable representations of the involved functions and operators. We propose a new combined tensor format (QTT-Tucker), which descends from the TT format (hence TT algorithms may be generalized smoothly), but provides complexity reduction by an order of magnitude. We develop a robust iterative solution algorithm, constituting most advantageous properties of the classical iterative methods from numerical analysis and alternating density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) techniques from quantum physics. Numerical experiments confirm that the new method is preferable to DMRG algorithms. It is as fast as the simplest alternating schemes, but as reliable and accurate as the Krylov methods in linear algebra.

Ontologies et web sémantique pour une construction évolutive d'applications dédiées à la logistique / Ontologies and semantic web for an evolutive development of logistic applications

Hendi, Hayder 04 December 2017 (has links)
Logistics problems are often complex combinatorial problems. These may also implicitly refer to the processes, actors, activities, and methods concerning various aspects that need to be considered. Thus the same process may involve the processes of sale/purchase, transport/delivery, and stock management. These processes are so diverse and interconnected that it is difficult for a logistic expert to compete all of them. In this thesis, we propose the explications with the help of ontologies of conceptual ans semantic knowledge concerning the logistic processes. This explicit knowledge is then used to develop a reasoning system to guide the logistic expert for an incremental and semi-automatic construction of a software solution to an instantly posed problem. We define an ontology concerning the inter-connected logistics and associated optimization problem. We, henceforth, establish an explicit semantic link between the domains of logistics and the optimization. It may allow the logistic expert to identify precisely and unambiguously the confronted logistic problem and the associated optimization problem. The identification of the problems then leads to a process to choose the solutions ranging from the choice of the precise logistic process to be implemented to that of the method to solve the combinatorial problem until the discovery of the software component to be invoked and which is implemented by a web service. The approach we have adopted and implemented has been experimented with the "Vehicle Routing Problems", the "Passenger Train Problem" and the "Container Terminal problems".

Jesus, André Luiz Sá de 29 August 2017 (has links)
The research builds the history of the First Train Station of Aracaju, between the years 1910 and 1976. The year 1910 marks the appearing of documented information about the construction site of the Train Station; 1976 was the year the City Council ordered that Station to be demolished. The First Train Station was located in downtown Aracaju, near the Port. The importance of our research lies in the fact that the Train Station building has not been deeply studied yet and besides it no longer exists. The objective of the research is an historical data survey on the First Train Station of Aracaju, displaying several social, historical and economic aspects regarding that building, from 1910 to 1976. In the research we used secondary sources such as novels and memorial books, and primary documentation such as local newspapers and vintage photographs. The investigation shows the Station as a main point of a rail network in Sergipe, connected to the Brazilian railroad. During its operation, from 1913 to 1950, the First Station registered an intense flow of people from several social classes. Economically speaking, the Station had a strategic location, being directly linked to the Port of Aracaju and being next to various fabric factories and warehouses, allowing an expressive flow of animals, agricultural products and manufactured goods. While boosting its surroundings development, the Station may have attracted the construction of new commercial and public buildings. However, after losing its strategic importance due to the opening of the new Station of Siqueira Campos, the First Station was gradually abandoned, favoring the emerging of shacks nearby, with poor people living in precarious conditions, so the City Council provided the slum to be removed and to have the Station demolished. Finally the research intends to make an important contribution to the railroad history in Brazil as well as to Aracaju and the State of Sergipe history.

Balme, Coraline 19 January 2011 (has links)
This memory of thesis s' registered voter in the context of the FUTUR project financed by l'ANR and concerning the development of optical finctions fot the high bit-rate transmissions in the Network heart and carries on very high rates optical fibers sources generation and the optical chalcogenide microstructured fiber charaterization. For this purpose, we study the linear and non-linear characteristics of microstructured chalcogenide fibers conceived and realized in various collaborations within the framework of the ANR FUTUR project. For that a great number of characterizations methods were developed giving a comparison between a standard single mode fiber and there microstructured chalcogenide fibers. For exemple, an interferometric setup for the chromatic dispersion measurement for short sample, or many experimental setup allowing the nonlinear properties characterizations as of these fibers (Raman scattering, nonlinear Kerr Coefficient). The second part of this memory presents the settling of sinusoidal beat conversion into a high bit rate generation method. It is shown in this manuscript that this technique was exploited with readiest of its limits, by obtaining extremely short pulses and by very high bit-rate. The pulses train at very high rates were characterized by an experimental device SHG-FROG. A demonstration of the multiplication of the bit-rate by two at summer shown by Talbot effect.

Field and laboratory investigation on the dynamic behaviour of conventional railway track-bed materials in the context of traffic upgrade / Etude ‘in-situ’ et en laboratoire sur le comportement dynamique des matériaux constitutifs des plateformes ferroviaires classiques dans le contexte d'augmentation du trafic

Lamas-Lopez, Francisco 15 April 2016 (has links)
As in other European countries, in France the conventional lines constitute the main part of the whole railway network (94%) and they are generally over a century old. Nowadays, facing the demand of upgrading both the traffic load and speed, it is of paramount importance to acquire good knowledge on the corresponding impact on the mechanical behaviour of tracks, at both short and long terms. In this context, this PhD work aims at investigating the influence of train speed and axle load on the dynamic behaviour of materials constituting the conventional track-beds, through both ‘in-situ’ monitoring and laboratory testing. For the field monitoring, a representative track was selected from the French conventional network following well-defined criteria. The selected site underwent a geophysical and geotechnical prospection, allowing the site critical speed and the geotechnical properties of different soils constituting the track-bed to be determined. The first data allowed assessing the influence of the track state conditions and the traffic loading on the measurements of each sensor. The train speed and axle load impacts on the vertical stress, deflection/strain, in particular their amplifications with speed increase were evaluated based on the data with an Intercity test train running at different speeds from 60 km/h to 200 km/h and the different axle loads applied by Coaches (105 kN/axle) and Locomotive (225 kN/axle). A statistical analysis was made to assess the variability of track response and their dynamic amplification with speed based on the data with passages of commercial trains. The dynamic amplification of track response due to train speed was found to be directly related to the ratio of train speed to the surface wave velocity. The laboratory test conditions were defined based on the field measurements. A material representative of an interlayer soil was prepared and tested in a large-scale cyclic triaxial cell to investigate its mechanical behaviour. Both Sine-shaped and M-shaped loads were applied and in addition, two water contents were considered. The variations of dynamic parameters such as resilient modulus and damping ratio with number of cycles were assessed, and the effects of loading parameters such as consolidation pressure, load shape, load amplitude and load frequency were investigated. The effect of water content was studied as well. It was observed that the response of energy developed during cyclic loading is an important parameter controlling the soil mechanical behaviour at both small and large numbers of cycles. Also, the Sine-shaped loading was found more aggressive than M-shaped loading since the former results in higher energy and therefore larger soil deformation. This is particularly the case when the soil is saturated. Based on the results obtained in the field and laboratory, two 2-D analytical models were developed allowing the description of vertical stress and vertical deflection transmissions in track-beds. Some mechanical parameters such as the moduli of track-bed layers, their damping ratios, thicknesses as well as the average track surface wave velocity were found to be the key parameters governing the track dynamic behaviour. A comparison between field and laboratory results was also made. The track response to the loading by different train types, considering equivalent loads but different spatial loading configurations from TER and TGV train axles is presented. It was found that for each monitored position in the track, the response energy was higher for TGV than for TER. This larger developed energy suggests a higher aggressiveness to the track structure. Thus, the energy response is a key indicator to be taken into account when performing a track mechanical behaviour monitoring

Comportement dynamique de train planétaire / épicycloïdal avec erreurs d’assemblage, écarts de forme et structures déformables : Optimisation des corrections de dentures / Dynamic behavior of planetary / epicyclic gears with assembly errors, shape deviations and deformable sub-structures : Optimization of tooth modifications

Chapron, Matthieu 02 May 2016 (has links)
This research work was conducted at the Contact and Structural Mechanics Laboratory (LaMCoS) of LaMCoS - INSA Lyon (UMR CNRS 5259) in partnership with Hispano-Suiza (SAFRAN group). In the context of new turbo jet engine developments, a promising technological solution consists in inserting a planetary / epicyclic gear train between the turbine and the propeller which, in theory, can improve the system performance, especially in terms of efficiency. Increasing power densities and mass reduction constraints lead to more compliant structures which need to be analyzed from a dynamic viewpoint. The present work deals therefore with the dynamic modelling of planetary / epicyclic gears and the effects of assembly errors, tooth shape deviations and deformable structural components. A lumped parameter approach has been favored which combines rigid-body gear elements, beam and lumped parameters elements. A thin-slice model has been used to simulate the time-varying elastic properties of gear teeth with an elemental stiffness and a normal deviation functions attributed to every discrete cell on the contact lines (thin slice) and updated at each time step with respect to the meshing course and the instant positions of the teeth. Ring-gear deformations are introduced via a model of elastic annulus discretized into straight beam elements and connected to the gear elements. Double-helical gears are simulated by linking two gear elements of opposite hands by Timoshenko beam elements. The possibility of helix stagger is implemented by shifting the helix positions in the base plane. Finally, the equations of motion are solved step by step in time by combining a Newmark scheme and a normal contact algorithm which makes it possible to account for partial and total instant contact losses. A number of comparisons with benchmark results from the literature are presented which prove that the proposed theoretical and numerical developments are sound and can actually be used to simulate the influence of planet position errors, helix stagger, pitch errors and ring-gear deformations. The optimization of tooth shape modifications, i.e. profile and lead modifications, re dynamic mesh forces in planetary gears is tackled. Using a genetic algorithm, optimum profile modifications are derived and compared with some analytical results in the literature. Their performance over a range of loads and speeds is assessed for helical and double helical gears with rigid and flexible ring-gears. A quasi-static “equivalent” criterion based on local transmission errors is presented and commented upon. Having proved its relevance, a number of results are derived concerning the influence of helix stagger and lead crowning superimposed on optimum profile modifications. Finally, a deformable ring-gear support is introduced using a sub-structuring technique and its contribution in terms of tooth load distribution is examined.

Massive and heterogeneous data processing and analysis have been clearly identified by the scientific community as key problems in several application areas. It was popularized under the generic terms of "data science" or "big data". Processing large volumes of data, extracting their hidden patterns, while preforming prediction and inference tasks has become crucial in economy, industry and science.Treating independently each set of measured data is clearly a reductiveapproach. By doing that, "hidden relationships" or inter-correlations between thedatasets may be totally missed. Tensor decompositions have received a particular attention recently due to their capability to handle a variety of mining tasks applied to massive datasets, being a pertinent framework taking into account the heterogeneity and multi-modality of the data. In this case, data can be arranged as a D-dimensional array, also referred to as a D-order tensor. In this context, the purpose of this work is that the following properties are present: (i) having a stable factorization algorithms (not suffering from convergence problems), (ii) having a low storage cost (i.e., the number of free parameters must be linear in D), and (iii) having a formalism in the form of a graph allowing a simple but rigorous mental visualization of tensor decompositions of tensors of high order, i.e., for D> 3.Therefore, we rely on the tensor train decomposition (TT) to develop new TT factorization algorithms, and new equivalences in terms of tensor modeling, allowing a new strategy of dimensionality reduction and criterion optimization of coupled least squares for the estimation of parameters named JIRAFE.This methodological work has had applications in the context of multidimensional spectral analysis and relay telecommunications systems.
