The impact of habitual behaviors and thinking patterns of practice : A qualitative study about user influence in connection with elderly moving to nursing homes

Alakili, Nadin, Evegren, Victoria January 2018 (has links)
The aim of this study was to create an understanding of how unit managers and care workers work with user influence in connection with elderly moving to nursing homes. This study was delimited to analyze two nursing homes in a medium-sized municipality in southern Sweden. The study was based on qualitative semi-structured interviews from two unit managers and six care workers in nursing homes. To analyze the data, Michael Foucault’s theory about power, Pierre Bourdieus's concept of doxa and symbolic power have been used as well as client construction. The result of this study indicates that elderly are given the opportunity to influence through implementation plans, welcome talks, being listened to, relationship-building, feeling homelike, resignation and reluctance, adaption to the conditions that are available and rethinking. The results of the study also shows that elderly were transformed and adapted according to the nursing homes guidelines and routines when moving in. Therefore, there were opinions taken for granted and not questioned within the organizations. With this basis, situations that caused limited influence of the elderly were excused and justified according to the organizations´ implied logic, which was deeply rooted in the workplace structure including the unit managers and care workers.

Steenberg, Astrid, McLoughlin, Erica January 2017 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to understand in what ways the law of Lex Sarah contributes to quality within the Swedish social services. The legislation of Lex Sarah aims to ensure quality assurance of social services by eliminating misconduct. Operational developers are keyactors in the investigation process of Lex Sarah. Therefore a central question of this study was: In what ways does operational developers consider that Lex Sarah achieve its purpose? The method of analysis was a qualitative study. The basis of the theoretical framework of the study is social constructivism, in which institutional theory and thoughts describing how ideas are transferred and spread is a part of. The theoretical framework has been helpful to illustrate possible ways of how the idea of quality has been spread from industry to social services. The empirical material has been collected by qualitative semistructured interviews.   Central findings of the empirical material is that there was no coherent definition within the group of operational developers of the quality concept. Emphasis is mainly placed on the quality concept's commitment to legislation and user satisfaction. The term is explained in broad terms and no detailed description is given. Lex Sarah is described as an alarm system and the empirical material also shows oppon it’s controlling functions. Through the empirical material it is also shown that the measures proposed by the operational developers not necessarily lead to improvement or quality of the operations. One explenation highlighted is the gap between investigation and the enforcement. A central discovery is also based on the lack of user influence within the Lex Sarah-process.

Vliv uživatele na miniaturní antény v mobilních aplikacích / User influence on miniature antennas in mobile applications

Vehovský, Radek January 2013 (has links)
This master’s thesis deals with user influence on miniature antennas in mobile application. Electrically small antennas including fundamental performance properties and limitations are introduced in the theoretical section of this thesis. This section also deals with microstrip antennas and their common types. The accent is on PIFA antennas, their typical constructions and methods of miniaturization. In the practical section, dual-band PIFA antenna for operation at frequencies of systems GSM900 and GSM1800 is designed with the assistance of electromagnetic field simulator CST Microwave Studio. On this type of antenna, the user influence on impedance matching and radiation pattern in data mode (the user is typing message or browsing with the phone) is investigated. For this purpose the hand phantom, corresponding to author’s right hand, was made from agar based material. For typical position of human hand is designed matching network, which eliminate the user influence and ensure correct function of antenna.

Brukarinflytandets förutsättningar inom socialtjänstens missbruksenheter : En kvalitativ studie om socialsekreterarnas perspektiv / The prerequisites of user influence within the social services' substance abuse units : A qualitative study on the perspective of social secretaries

Pakjoo, Kaveh, Obéus, Kenny January 2022 (has links)
The aim of the study is to increase knowledge about user influence and its prerequisites within the social services' addiction and dependency management, this by exploring how social workers in the substance abuse units perceive the conditions for user influence at the individual level. This is based on six qualitative, semi-structured interviews with social workers from four different municipalities in Stockholm County. The selection has been goal-driven and thus contact has been made with an adequate unit within these municipalities' social services offices to best answer our research question. The interview material has been processed through thematic analysis with hermeneutic sentence interpretation to then be analyzed further with the theory Empowerment and the theoretical concept of Street-level bureaucrat. We have also used the theoretical model of the user dialogue model and its conceptual apparatus in a concluding analysis summary. The choices of theoreticalstarting points for the analysis have been made after material collection have functioned as interpretivetools with the frame of reference they offer. The study has shown that the interviewed social secretaries perceive a variety of recurring and significant conditions that affect user influence at the individual level, within the social services' addiction and dependency units for adults. In our thematic analysis, these conditions have been categorized into three main themes that we have called the social worker's reality, alliance, and the user's reality. These three themes are three dimensions of the conditions that exist for user influence and what affects it. It has also been clear that negotiation is something that takes place in but also between these three themes, like the glue that joins it together into a whole. The social secretaries have described, on the one hand, the reality they themselves face in their authority with the organizational conditions that are available, partly the user’s reality in the meeting with the social services and the situation they are in. These two realities, according to the social secretaries, needs to be considered and through different relational and communicative characteristics, an alliance needs to emerge between the parties to allow for a constructive negotiation about the influence.

Who sets the rules of user influence? : A qualitative discourse analysis of unit managers' views on user influence in social psychiatry

Johansson, Hanna, Urbancic, Elin January 2022 (has links)
Mental helathcare in Sweden is organized both by the healthcare sector and the municipal sector. Historically, there has been great ideological adaption which has given the municipalities a greater responsibility in mental healthcare. This change was concieved by political reforms and legislation with the aim of conducting more client-focused interventions to promote the users´ indenpendence and influence in their own life and care. This study focuses on how the unit managers of municipal mental healthcare organizations generate possibilities to involve user influence in their organizations. Through eight semi-structured interviews with unit managers, we find that the individual manager, legislation and the lack of political orientations and policies affect the outcome of user influence in the social work of mental health care. Through the result the authors could identify a few distinct key notions which contributed to the mapping of the discourse. Furthermore, the use of these key notions by the unit managers gives them the power to reproduce and construct the discourse which constitutes the practice of user influence in mental healthcare.

"Varför är vi här egentligen och för vems skull är vi här?” : En kvalitativ studie om hur enhetschefer inom LSS-området arbetar med brukarinflytande / "Why are we here anyway and for whose sake are we here?" : A qualitative study of how unit managers in the LSS area work with user influence

Gustavsson, Gabriella, Berg, Sara January 2023 (has links)
This is a qualitative study based on interviews with unit managers working by the entitlement law LSS, Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments. The purpose of this study is to get an understanding of how unit managers in the LSS area perceive, work with and have experience of user influence in their organizations. The implementation of previous research makes an easier understanding of what the professional role means for both the organization and the user of welfare services. The main result of the study shows that the unit managers have a significant role for the user influence and that user influence needs further development in their organizations. Unit managers work to equalize social differences and compensate for the user's care needs. User influence is therefore needed for users to be able to become as independent as possible.  The unit manager works according to organizational conditions and creates strategies while using their professional discretion. Which promotes participation and self-determination for the user and their way of life. The result fills a knowledge gap regarding the unit manager's professional role and work for and with user influence in practice within the law of LSS. The study's theoretical approach is based on the theories of human-treating organizations, social citizenship and a model that explains society views different levels of disability and the user's personal autonomy.
