Ingvarsson, Emelie, Söderqvist, Emmie January 2011 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to understand what the care recipients considering as care quality in their long-term eldercare. Our intention has been to contribute a bit to the development of the care work. Previous studies show that user surveys are carried out regularly but there is very few studies that are based on care recipients own opinions and experiences. The main questions in the study have been to examine what is considered as good elder care from a user perspective. Even to understand the characteristics of a good meeting with the care staff and also examine how the elder care in Nybro municipality can improve. This study was based on a qualitative method in the form of seven interviews with recipient of elder care. The interviews were based on five themes which were; background, care, interaction, "special housing and social interaction" and also changes. The collected material is analyzed from a symbolic interactionism perspective. We view the symbolic interactionism as a useful perspective to gain an understanding of the interaction between care recipients and staff, and how it can develop care work The result revealed that the elder care in Nybro Municipality is generally of good quality and that it works well with home care. The care recipients appreciate when the care staffs are cheerful and friendly during visits, and they use the term "helpfulness" to describe what characterize a good treatment. What emerges as a negative aspect of the elder care is that the care staffs are extremely busy and always in a rush at each visit, which may partly affect the care a bit negative. The study shows a desire for change to improve care staff working environment. All respondents have different perceptions of the elderly and what is considered quality of care. Although there are common views on certain things, it is because of their differing views at who they interact with and in what context, the overall situation.

Ambjørseie, Ida, Johansson Hultqvist, Tobias January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of our thesis is to shed light on how the work to meet the psychosocial needs of the elderly is organized in the palliative care in elderly care, and what role and significance the professional social work can have in such an activity. The purpose is concretized in the following question statements; What is the role and responsibility of the caregiver for their caregivers and elderly patients. What strategies does a health care curator use compared to care staff in general palliative care to meet the psychosocial needs of the elderly and what significance can the presence of a health care curator in general palliative care have for the psychosocial support in elderly care.  Our findings was that based on the results, there is a difference in whether the elderly receive palliative care through the specialized palliative care or through the general palliative care. The reason for this could be that the health care curator is not mandatory in the general palliative care and our findings suggest that this could be a contributing factor.  Our conclusions are that regardless of whether the elderly have lived a long life, palliative care must have high quality to meet the ethical standards. According to assistant nurses, what has emerged during the results is above all that more resources are needed for the caregivers to feel sufficient at work and at least have the opportunity to meet psychosocial needs. The interviewees have also pointed out a lack of competence at psychosocial support in the existing medical workforce. Therefore we interpret, based on the results, that it is a health and medical care curator who is needed in the palliative care to be able to ensure a dignified death.

Kerrén, Jaqueline, Månsson, Kajsa January 2017 (has links)

Johansson, Anna, Nelldal Ahl, Anna January 2007 (has links)
<p>The purpose of this study is to investigate the young caregivers thoughts of the elderly caretaker. A qualitative method was chosen when interviewing young caregivers in order to get an insight of how they perceive and speak of the elders. The main questions of the study are: How do the caregivers believe that the elders perceive their day-to-day life and situation? Is it possible to distinguish if the young caregiver’s thoughts about the elders affect their work with the elderly caretaker? Is it possible to notice any common factors that the young caregivers perceive as important in their work with the elderly caretaker? The criteria for inclusion in this study are caregivers aged 18 to 25, who are working with elderly at special accommodation. The theories chosen for this study are the salutogenetic perspective, the activity theory and the theory of gerotranscendence. From the outcome of the study the conclusion is that the interaction between the elder and the caregiver seem to be decisive for how the young caregiver think of the elders and their life situation. The caregivers in this study experience that activities give the elderly a meaningful life.</p>

Boendestödjarens upplevelse av relationen till omsorgstagare med psykisk funktionsnedsättning / Housing supporter's experiences of the relationship with clients with mental disability

Giuricici, Doina January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of my study is to describe the relationship between housing supporters and clients based on the experience of the residential support. Six semi-structured interviews were analyzed and as shown in the results, personal qualities such as empathy, ability to listen, respect and skills and professional approach are building blocks in the creation of the relationship between housing supporters and clients. Further on, the result has been analyzed by using theories in symbolic interactionism and dramaturgical perspective for finding new angles and perspectives in the result. The result of this study is that a relationship between housing supporters and clients is important and requires both the client's and housing support’s involvement. The study is relevant to social work by increasing awareness that housing support is an important social initiative that helps people with mental disabilities.

What do you want to do ?New mailCopy<img /> / Abstract Title: Same but different - An exploratory study on how nursing aides within the homecare handlethe values of elderly care and the organizational conditions Authors: Patrik Bengtsson och Viktor Bergerus The thesis aimed to, with an exploratory approach, examine how nursing aides in the home careservice manage the goals of self-determination, participation, and individualization, as well aswhich factors enable and limit the implementation of these goals. To achieve the purpose of thestudy, a qualitative method was used. Five interviews have been conducted with nurses workingin home care in four different municipalities. The results of the interviews were interpretedbased on grounded theory which was chosen when the purpose was exploratory. During theanalysis, codes, subcategories and categories were generated that resulted in a main concern. There were various factors that influenced when it comes to what promotes and inhibits theintroduction of the values in daily work. The concept or main concern that emerged was thenorm discrepancy, which in short means that the work performed must be flexible but be carriedout within a rigid framework. Neo-institutional theory was used to discuss the results, theconclusion was that the nursing aides’ ability to adapt is what makes the home care service'swork despite conflicting goals and requirements. Ökad mobilitet, delaktighet och frihet ― IKT-stöd som fyller verkliga behov inom äldreomsorg : Behovskartläggning för kommunikation och information mellan omsorgstagare, närstående och utförare som grund till en gemensam kontaktyta / Increased mobility, participation and freedom ― fulfilling real needs in geriatric care through ICT : An investigation of needs regarding communication and information exchange between care recipients, relatives and care givers

Bergqvist, Malin January 2014 (has links)
Sweden’s population is steadily growing older and while the demand for care of senior citizens is increasing, care givers are forced to cope with diminishing resources in terms of money and qualified staff. Many put hope in new eHealth technology, as a means of raising efficiency and quality in the every day working situation. This thesis aims to study needs regarding communication, information and interaction between care takers, dependants and caregivers in geriatric care, in order to create a foundation upon which an ICT system may be built to fulfill those needs. The results presented are part of a research project focusing on future ICT systems in healthcare. Data was collected through an observational study, group discussions with informants related to care takers, and qualitative interviews with 13 informants who have extensive experience of geriatric care. The results imply there are existing problems that may be avoided by facilitating information sharing between the aforementioned groups. The study also presents some important points of discussion regarding usefulness, clashing needs of different users, and the balance between simplicity of use and system size.

Det basala bemötandet är det vitala

Plathin Rosvall, Maria January 2013 (has links)
The aim of this study was to depict care personnel’s perception of social treatment in care relations. Another aim was to bring forth what the personnel acknowledge as important factors to reach a goal of good encounters with the elderly. Through interviews with five care assistants working at the same nursing home, three different themes were formulated in order to answer the study questions. The themes were Concerning treatment, Organized care, and Personnel force. The personnel described the social treatment as something else than just being friendly and polite when approaching the elderly. They meant that the importance was lying in the energy and the feeling you convey everyday when coming in to the ward in the beginning of the shift. Organizational issues, however, were perceived as hinders for the personnel to always be able to accomplish a desirable encounter in care relations. The most important factor that improved the conditions for a positive social treatment in care relations was the team of colleagues. Within the team they had the opportunity to reflect over work, issues, the social treatments and other problems, and also learn from each other. The most important issue that the interviewed persons emphasized is that it is not about being friendly and polite when approaching care takers. It is about being percipient and able to create a positive energy around yourself and others.

: En kvalitativ studie om hur enhetschefer inom LSS-området arbetar med brukarinflytande / "Why are we here anyway and for whose sake are we here?" : A qualitative study of how unit managers in the LSS area work with user influence

Gustavsson, Gabriella, Berg, Sara January 2023 (has links)
This is a qualitative study based on interviews with unit managers working by the entitlement law LSS, Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments. The purpose of this study is to get an understanding of how unit managers in the LSS area perceive, work with and have experience of user influence in their organizations. The implementation of previous research makes an easier understanding of what the professional role means for both the organization and the user of welfare services. The main result of the study shows that the unit managers have a significant role for the user influence and that user influence needs further development in their organizations. Unit managers work to equalize social differences and compensate for the user's care needs. User influence is therefore needed for users to be able to become as independent as possible.  The unit manager works according to organizational conditions and creates strategies while using their professional discretion. Which promotes participation and self-determination for the user and their way of life. The result fills a knowledge gap regarding the unit manager's professional role and work for and with user influence in practice within the law of LSS. The study's theoretical approach is based on the theories of human-treating organizations, social citizenship and a model that explains society views different levels of disability and the user's personal autonomy.
