Tvåvaktssystem : En kvalitativ undersökning om förutsättningar för sunda vanor i tvåvaktssystem / Two watch system

Lewis Skoglund, Jim, Steinsson, Aron January 2016 (has links)
Persons that perform shift work are part of a risk group for health related stress as result of difficulties with developing personal routines for eating, sleeping and physical wellness. Sailors that work in ships where a two watch system with 6 hour watches is applied are therefore included in this risk group where work is generally concentrated over an extended period of time. This study presents an investigation on how people with experience in the two watch system with six hour watches, experience the conditions for creating healthy routines for sleep, diet and physical wellness. The result is a story about the perceived opportunities in which the following two interesting conclusions emerged: respondents feel that the off duty period's theoretical timeframe for regeneration doesn't correspond to reality in which the time does not suffice. Hence, sleep and nutrition is prioritized while the need for physical wellness suffers. Personal routines are essential, but prerequisites for developing healthy routines for sleep, diet and wellness are directly related to the possibility of having the off duty period undisturbed from ordered operational tasks.

Social media and campaigning : the challenges and opportunities of incorporating social media into existing anti-airport expansion campaigns

Rowe, Andrew January 2017 (has links)
Social media has created new protest spaces and has enabled people to do things differently. The focus of the research is on campaign groups, created before social media was used as a tool for protest. It has been undertaken to achieve the aim of the challenges and opportunities of incorporating new forms of social media into existing protest campaigns through a case study of anti-airport expansion groups in the UK. Social media data was obtained from three anti-airport expansion groups which included the extraction of approximately 9,000 tweets and 8,000 Facebook posts. The data were then analysed using social network analysis, time series analysis and semi-structured interviews. The results of social network analysis and time series analysis informed the development of the questions directed at the social media coordinators of each group. The main findings are that Airport Watch and HACAN Clearskies exhibit very similar Twitter networks and favour interaction with the media, similar anti-airport expansion groups and also pro-airport expansion groups. Transition Heathrow demonstrates more varied interaction patterns. All groups dominate their respective Facebook page and group networks apart from HACAN Clearskies which has non-assigned leaders controlling information dissemination in the group. Time series analysis uncovered variations in social media usage; overall for all three campaign groups Twitter was utilised more than Facebook.

Predictability of Credit Watch Placements and the Distribution of Wealth Effects Across the Trigger Event, Placement and Removal Dates

Hudson, William C. (William Carl) 05 1900 (has links)
Standard and Poor's began publication of Credit Watch in November of 1981 as an early warning list for firms whose debt is under review for a possible rating change. This dissertation is composed of three essays which address various aspects of Credit Watch and the impact on shareholder wealth. The first essay uses a discriminant analysis model to classify the Credit Watch status of firms which engaged in mergers and acquisitions activity in 1991. The model correctly classifies 69.85% of the in-sample firms and 65.83% of the out of sample firms. The second essay examines whether the stock market reacts more strongly to trigger events which cause Credit Watch placements than to the actual placement. Significantly larger negative abnormal return are found around the trigger event than the placement. No evidence is found for the differential reaction evolving over time. The third essay examines firm specific and economy-wide factors which may be related to the strength of the abnormal stock return around the Credit Watch removal date. The removal return is found to be positively related to the number of trading days a firm remains on Credit Watch, negatively related to the number of updates regarding the firm released by Standard and Poor's while on the list, and positively related to the cumulative abnormal return measured between the placement and removal. This evidence suggests that the number of trading days a firm remains on Credit Watch is a proxy for information leakage to the market. The negative relationship between the removal return and the number of updates implies that the market reacts to a string of negative news of which the removal announcement is the final announcement. Finally, the positive relationship with the cumulative abnormal return between placement and removal suggests that much of the information content of the removal has been impounded into the stock price at the time of the removal.

”Yttrandefriheten har väl aldrig utnyttjats av så många som just nu” : En kvalitativ studie om bloggvärldens påverkan på samhället

86 Dagar 16 timmar 25 minuter : En kvantitativ innehållsanalys av nyhetsbevakningen kring oljeutsläppet i mexikanska golfen 2010 / 86 Days 16 hours 25 minutes : A quantitative content analysis of the news watch surrounding the Gulf of Mexico oil spill 2010

Ringefors, Fredrik, Andrén, Ulrika January 2011 (has links)
Purpose: When the Deepwater Horizon oilrig in the Gulf of Mexico faced disaster in late April 2010, news coverage immediately began of the disaster that would unfold. BP took the blame and its financial resources were strained as it struggled with stopping the oil leak, cleanup work as well as its PR image. While the US took many blows of the consequences to ecosystem and tourism, financial consequences swept across the world, mainly Britain, where BP had its headquarters. The event gives an excellent chance at comparing the media coverage from both the US and Britain. By studying The Daily Telegraph and The New York Times, we want to see both similarities and differences in the themes they focused on as well as seeing trends in the themes over time. Theories: The theory chapter is heavily based around the Agenda-setting theory in the media communication field. Methodology: A quantitative content analysis (QCA) of some 500 news articles in The Daily Telegraph and The New York Times from April 22 to July 15. The QCA was made to find the main theme of articles to give us data on how many articles of each theme, as well as their distribution over time. The collected data was ultimately made into diagrams. Conclusion: The two newspapers have a clear difference in that the New York Times have a more than twice the articles published compared to The Daily Telegraph. They do however both share some trends in the themes with some exceptions. Looking at the distribution of these themes within each newspaper, it’s clear that the British newspaper focused more heavily on BP while the American was focusing more heavily on consequences.
