J.-C.) / Pharnabazus and the Pharnacids : a dynasty of satraps on the shores of Hellespontic Phygia

Klein, Alexis 29 May 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to reexamine the existence of the family of Persian governors, who were in charge as satraps of Hellespontic Phrygia in the age of the Achaemenid Empire in the Vth-IVth C. BC. and to assess their influence on Egean and Anatolian politics. As the examination of the Pharnacids is not only a genealogical study, but includes also political topics, it is necessary to distinguish their role as satraps from their family history. Accordingly, the first part addresses the origins of the Pharnacids, followed by a chronology of the satraps of Dasykleion from a political point of view. The third part exposes the permanent and recurrent features among the titleholders of the satrapy of Daskyleion. Finally, the last part presents our conclusions on the notion of family among the prominent Persians and focuses on the role of women, and it ends with an epilogue on the family’s fate after the fall of the Achaemenid Empire.

Présence du classicisme français dans la critique littéraire roumaine (de la Révolution de 1821 à la fin du communisme) / Presence of French Classicism in Romanian Literary Criticism (from the 1821 Revolution to the End of Communism)

Popa, Marius 01 March 2019 (has links)
The present thesis proposes to catalogue and analyze references to French classicism and the role it has played in the Romanian literary criticism, from the Wallachian Uprising of 1821, led by Tudor Vladimirescu, to the fall of the communist regime (1989). After placing the reception of the model in the context of the history of Romania and its political and intellectual relations with France (including a study of the translation of French classics in Romanian) and after a genealogical and aesthetic analysis of the "French classicism" concept, we tried to reconstruct, in the context of each period of Romanian modernity, and, for each of these periods, through the more specific study of certain writers and critics considered the most representative in this matter, the persistence and renewal of the image of French classicism, itself frequently perceived and analyzed as the national expression of a "universal" classicism. This chronological process made it possible to identify the three manners in which the Romanian criticism used the reference to this notion: that of a model for a literary creation that sought itself, that of criterion for its evaluation and that of subject within the framework of debates aroused by the new currents that have animated the Romanian literary life since its emergence until the end of the twentieth century.

Entre chimie et biologie : nutrition, organisation, identité / Between chemistry and biology : nutrition, organization, identity

Bognon-Küss, Cécilia 30 November 2018 (has links)
It is possible to isolate, among the attempts to define living organisms, two competing traditions: one has made reproduction the proper of living organisms, while the other has seen in nutrition and then metabolism (the material process by which an organism maintains itself by transforming a foreign matter into a living substance) an essential property and a criterion for the unification of ail living forms. However, the second term of this polarity is in tum subdivided into a pem1anent movement of oppositions that seems to characterize life as an incessant "whirlwind", an uninterrupted circulation or constant flow of matter between the inside and the outside, the bodies and their environment. This work is devoted to exploring the conceptual changes within this second tradition, nutrition and metabolism. How did metabolism become a problem for biology? This thesis proposes a genealogical analysis of the concept of metabolism understood both as a bridge linking the vital specificity of organisms to their chemical conditions of existence, and as a scheme through which self-production and the maintenance of biological identity could be approached from a naturalistic perspective. This thesis proposes a history of the developments of a material, chemical and life theory and shows, in the same movement, how the elaboration of an "epistemic space" around the concept of metabolism has gradually made it possible to redefine the contours under which the question of biological identity has since been addressed.

A voz do Outro na voz do documentário / The voice of the Other in the voice of the documentary.

Guimarães, Rodrigo Gomes 24 May 2019 (has links)
From its beginnings the documentary film was used to represent alterity, the differences in ways of life, culture and thought. Documentary filmmakers developed multiple modes of work and within these there have always been discussions about the (im)possibility of the representation of alterity in films. In this research, we use Bill Nichols\' concept of the \"voice of the documentary\" to reflect on ways of representing the voice of Others within the voice of the documentary. We extend such concept to analyze both the modes of production and reception by which representation in the documentary can be understood and practiced as a form of action for the improvement the lives of Other filmed subjects. Our understanding of the concept of \"voice\" comes from the contributions of the field study of language, culture and cinema as discourse, a perspective based on the legacies of critical thinking brought about by postcolonialism, poststructuralism, cultural studies, feminism and genealogy in consonance with what is proposed by Michel Foucault, as a methodological approach. Intended as a genealogical work, this research sought to highlight dominant discourses and their Other subaltern discourses considering both the Other as otherness and discourses that are Another of the dominant. Our focus on the dominance issue prioritizes the discourses produced by Brazilian documentary filmmakers and theorists of documentary, though not limited to them. The results indicate that there is a dominant discourse in Brazil about the voice of the Other in the voice of the documentary that is of the impossibility of the representation of these voices as they bring intentionalities toward the lived world. On the other hand, we found in the discourses on documentary film the subalternity of the practice of the documentary as a direct intervention in the world, including the resonance of the voice of Others. We point out that a reversion must be taking place in this direction, as the documentary ethics is reviewed in the relations among filmmakers, other filmed subjects, and public, by which the effects of documentary films in the world will be differently valued than they are today in the present dominant ethic where the Other is just a movie character. The research raises theoretical and practical questions about documentary films aiming to represent the voice of Others in the voice of documentary with a will to intervene and improve the living conditions of Other filmed subjects and their communities.

Étude de l’émergence d’une conception politique de la responsabilité sociale de l’entreprise : application au cas Shell Tunisie / The emergence of a political conception of corporate social responsibility : Shell Tunisia case study

Dhaouadi, Inès 13 July 2011 (has links)
The past decade has been marked by a growing involvement of transnational corporations in activities that are more akin to functions normally given over the Nation-state. These activities reveal the emergence of a political conception of CSR which confers a political role to business firms in a globalized society. The aim of this dissertation is to discuss the relevance of the governementality framework developed by Michel Foucault to the study of the emergence of a political conception of CSR and its effects in terms of power dynamics. We design a qualitative and abductive research drawing on a genealogical perspective. The Shell Tunisia case study is based on in-depth interviews with 52 of its senior managers and 23 of its stakeholder's representatives. The discourse analysis made by the qualitative data analysis software Nvivo 8 has shown three main results. First, we identified various sector-based, institutional, organizational and discretionary conditions which underlie the emergence of a political conception of CSR. We then showed that economic and political motivations largely explain firm's politicization. Finally, we highlighted that this politicization constitutes a new governementality regime of the business and society interface that was supported by the formation of new objetcs, forms and techniques of government.

An eschatological motive in the French contemporary philosophy : Levinas and Derrida's eschatology of the present

Rochechouart, Alice de 01 December 2018 (has links)
The concept of eschatology originally comes from theology: it is however summoned by contemporary philosophers, first by Heidegger then by Levinas and Derrida. What are the conditions of possibility of this philosophical gesture? How is it specifically philosophical? And what are its operativity and consequences? The genealogical study of eschatology in Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche and Heidegger’s philosophy reveals that eschatology can only be used in philosophy if it is first dissociated from teleology, theology and ontology. It then becomes an original motive (both a pattern and a philosophical driving force) in Levinas and Derrida’s philosophy, in dialog with Jewish messianism and phenomenology. As an ethical and contentless principle, radically anti-ontological, it consists in interrupting presence (both time and essence): an eschatology of the present. It thus constitutes a triple problematization of limit: it bursts limits between disciplines (theology and philosophy); its sets logos’ limitation (its failure); and shatters the historical limit (horizon) to create and ethical conception of the event.

(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: The use of animals in beef cattle breeding programs is dependent on their approval to genealogical registry by the breeders association. The aim of this work was to evaluate and to relate the approval of the animals to the definitive genealogical record with the traits evaluated in the genetic evaluation program of the Canchim breed. Genetic parameters were estimated by means of a multi-trait model for birth, weaning and yearling (18 months of age) weights, slaughter conformation scores at weaning (CSW) and yearling (CSY), final registry classification scores at weaning (CLW) and yearling (CLY), navel and hair coat (HC) scores at weaning, and scrotal circumference at yearling (SCY), and using two-trait models for approval to registry (AR) with each of the above traits. The relationship of CLW and CLY with the other traits was studied by path analysis to estimate direct and indirect effects. Probabilities of approval to registry were studied, expected progeny differences (EPD) for all traits were estimated and a genetic qualification index (GQI) used by the Canchim Genetic Evaluation Program was obtained for each animal. Heritability was also estimated for color of the mucosa, and the probability of occurring the various color of mucosa in the offspring according to the mucosa of the parents were obtained. The probability of an animal being approved for registration by the Brazilian Canchim Breeders Association at weaning was 77.48%, 75.15% for males and 79.43% for females, while at yearling, given the approval at weaning, the probability was 87.36%, 86.43% for males and 87.83% for females. The total probability of an animal being approved for registration at yearling was 69.63%, 72.26% for females and 67.71% for males. The genetic correlations among the traits varied from low negative (-0.07) to high po... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Doutor

Sentires sexuais em ambiências digitais / Sexual senses in the digital ambiences

Corrêa, Raquel Cristina Melo 11 September 2017 (has links)
This research aims to investigate, understand and analyze how digital technology intervenes in the constitution of senses in contemporaneity, using as a reference object the sexual practices performed by and in digital architectures (websites, chatrooms, social networks and apps). We start with theoretical references that recognize technology as a constituent element of the humane and social - including the sexual dimension - and thus assign it as a central function in different historical moments. That way, we defend that \"virtual sex\" would not be a mere social interaction mediated by Internet-connected devices, but a complex ecology composed not only of people but also of non-human \"actants\" with agency power. In order to reach a coherent argument, we adopt a genealogical perspective to analyze this phenomenon, throwing light on the specificities of digital technology that, in our understanding, would cause displacements on perception and notions of space, time, social, culture, identity, subjective etc. pointing to a social (and sex) incontrovertibly connected, hybridized, mutant. Methodologically we reconcile bibliographical reading, social ethnography and immersive digital ethnography, the latter being responsible for giving \"voice\" to the non-human actants contained in the studied experience, a discovery that inspired a typological construction to characterize the different communicative processes made possible nowadays. Our theoretical foundation is based on authors who defend technology as a constituent and transforming of senses, who take on the perspectives of post-humanism and who recognize the intersection among technology, sex and sexuality.

Vitrinespelhos transicionais da identidade: um estudo de moradias e do ornamental em espaços sociais liminares brasileiros / Transitional mirroredwindows of identity: a study of dwellings and of the ornamental in Brazilian liminal social spaces

Rabinovich, Elaine Pedreira 13 March 1997 (has links)
This study aims to propose terms of analysis of the domestic environment seen as a psycho social-cultural manifestation. Three successive case studies were considered in order to bypass the ethnocentric bias. From the study of things displayed in a spatial arrangement named dwelling (60 houses in a São Paulo urban zone) there was a divergent focus to the study of non-thing: non-house (49 houses of homeless people), non-body (tombs in cemeteries) and non-city (20 houses in a Brazilian northeast rural zone). Successive, complementary and unfolding analysis suggested a virtual semantic matrix, dialecticly organized in a hyper-space, whose terms were seen to be: symbol; corporality, temporality and poelics. The application of these terms to the case studies that originated them resulted in the following chapters: the house as symbol; as body; as lime; as poetry. Each of these terms were analysed both from a genetical and a genealogical method. From this method, another term emerged called brazility. Two types of culture were depicted: the culture of things and the culture of the body, meaning two complementary sets of cultivation values and practices. From the overlapping of these two kinds of cultures, brazility was seen as a syncretical, hybrid, mestizo and multicultural societal organization, stemming from a liminal condition. This condition of liminality was supposed to be a historical condition of the psycho-social Brazilian subject, whose behaviors consistently suggested a des-territoriality around a motherland, a mother tongue, where, by a transformist ritual, new meanings were continously incorporated and re-meant through an anthropophagical movement allowing changing and tradition to coexist. It was hypothesized that liminality has originated from a vaccum as the original myth of the socio-historically (de)constructed condition of the Brazilian-being.
