BeautyApp is a business project that consists of the creation of an application that will serve as an intermediary for beauty professionals and final clients. This platform will be a showcase where a variety of beauty services will be offered. In Peru, the beauty sector has consumers who have a greater preference for the traditional service model, which is represented by beauty salons that are located in different districts. Due to this, the beauty category has few new models, this allows BeautyApp to be an innovative proposal and different from those that are currently on the market. Our business project will meet the needs of our target audience, since different packages of beauty services will be offered. It is important to specify that the value proposition lies in the attention at the time and place that the final client requires through adequate scheduling of appointments. A Cross Section Measurement Of Events With Two Muons At The $Z^{0}$ Resonance And At Least One Heavy Flavour Jet At The ATLAS Experiment Of The Large Hadron Collider

Steinbach, Peter 16 July 2012 (has links)
In 2010, the Large Hadron Collider (\\lhc{}) at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) near Geneva (Switzerland) came into full operation providing proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\\sqrt{s} = \\unit[7]{TeV}$. \\lhc{} data may allow the observation of the Higgs boson, the last unknown building block of the standard model of particle physics (SM). Di-muon final states containing heavy flavour jets pose an irreducible background for searches of the Higgs boson as predicted the SM or theories beyond. They also provide a unique testbed for tests of perturbative Quantum Chromo-Dynamics (pQCD). This thesis provides a measurement of the cross section of events with one di-muon pair with an invariant mass in the \\Z{} mass region and at least one heavy flavour jet. Studies on acceptance and systematic effects of the experimental setup are presented as well as a comparison to theoretical predictions. The total inclusive cross section of \\zbFS{} events was observed as $\\sigma(\\mu^{+}\\mu^{-}+b+X) = \\unit[(4.15 ^{+0.97}_{-0.89} (stat.) ^{+0.45}_{-0.53} (syst.))]{pb} $ from the equivalent of $\\unit[36]{pb^{-1}}$ of data. Agreement with pQCD predictions at next-to leading order (NLO) is found while tensions with leading order (LO) predictions are observed. Further, the cross-section ratio \\RwZ{} with events containing two muons and at least one jet of any origin was measured to $\\mathcal{R} = \\unit[4.6 ^{+1.4}_{-1.2} (stat.) \\pm 0.5 (syst.)]{\\%}$. This is found to agree with NLO and LO calculations within known uncertainties.

Kouzlo a moc červených rtěnek. Jak ovlivňují naše vnímání a komunikaci s okolím? / The magic and power of red lipsticks. How do they affect our perception and communication with our surroundings

Nevšímalová, Nikola January 2020 (has links)
This master thesis The magic and power of red lipsticks represents theoretical-empirical analysis that argues how red lipsticks influence our perception and how we communicate through them with our surrounding. The thesis stems from the basic assumption that red lipstick is truly important and bold communication mean that is able to talk to our surrounding in a completely different ways than other colors or color shades. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether the aforementioned assumption matches the reality. Key questions for this master thesis were as follows: How do women communicate with their surrounding through red color (red lipstick)? What do they expect from these communication means? How do they feel when they communicate through these means (when they wear red lipstick)? How to they perceive reactions for this mean of communication? What are these reactions like (men- and women- wise)? The master thesis is based on researches from the field of beauty, human attractiveness or perception of red color that have already been done and it presents several different theories about human beautification as well as cosmetics evolution and evolution of perception of beauty itself. Except these, the thesis focuses on media content and the ways in which media, mainly social media and other...

Efficient non-viral T cell engineering for TCR gene therapy by Sleeping Beauty minicircles

Clauß, Julian 12 January 2023 (has links)
Sleeping Beauty (SB) transposon-based vectors have entered clinical trials as an alternative to viral vectors for T cell gene therapy, offering time- and cost-efficient engineering of therapeutic T cells. However, transposon vectors require DNA electroporation into T cells, which we found to cause adverse effects. T cell viability was decreased, and DNA-transfected T cells showed delayed activation upon T cell receptor (TCR) stimulation regarding blast formation and proliferation. To overcome the limitations of transposon-based T cell engineering, we investigated the effect of DNA electroporation on T cells and developed novel SB vectors. T cells could efficiently be engineered with Sleeping Beauty vectors by combining SB transposon minicircles and SB100X transposase mRNA. Our approach reduced T cell mortality and substantially enhanced transfection efficiency. We achieved stable expression of several TCRs and CARs in more than 50% of the transfected T cells compared to 15% when conventional plasmids were used. T cells engineered to express a tumor-specific TCR mediated effective tumor cell lysis and cytokine secretion upon antigen-specific stimulation. Furthermore, we developed miRNAs to silence the expression of the endogenous TCR chains. Incorporation of these miRNAs into the TCR expression cassette increased surface expression of the therapeutic TCR, diminished mispairing with endogenous TCR chains, and enhanced T cell functionality. Importantly, a direct comparison of SB minicircle- and RV-engineered T cells in vitro as well as in vivo demonstrated equal T cell efficacy with regards to cytokine release, tumor cell lysis and tumor control. We demonstrated that SB minicircles enable the generation of gene-modified T cells with tumor-specific reactivity. Our approach facilitates the manufacturing of therapeutic T cells with superior biosafety and accelerates the generation of patient-specific T cell products for personalized T cell gene therapy.

Chick flicks? That's so fetch! That's so fetch! : An Analysis of Beauty Representation in Chick Flicks

Ipsilango, Nora, Eklind, Olivia January 2022 (has links)
Våra valda metoder för examensarbetet består av semiotiska textanalyser på lmerna The Devil Wears Prada, The Princess Diaries, Clueless, She’s All That och Mean Girls. / This thesis aims to discover how chick icks represent beauty and ugliness. We have examined and identied semiotics signs and mythologies in the movies, and whether the target audience believes their self images have been impacted by the representation.  Our chosen methods for the thesis consists of semiotic analyses of the lms The Devil Wears Prada, The Princess Diaries, Clueless, She’s All That and Mean Girls. Furthermore we have carried out three interviews in focus groups.  Through our discoveries and analysis we concluded that there are established signs representing either beauty or ugliness, and that mythologies exist in order to underline guidelines that follow a beautiful or ugly appearance. With the help of focus groups we found that although the target audience does not believe their self image is directly impacted by these mythologies and signs they often nd themselves keeping them as a constant underlying thought when reecting on their own appearance.

The traditional courtyard house of Lahore: an analysis with respect to Deep Beauty and sustainability

Qureshi, Rabia Ahmed January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Architecture / Gary J. Coates / Sustainability is essential for survival on this planet but only focusing on the green aspects is not a comprehensive solution. The idea of Deep Beauty provides a more thorough and complete framework that is the answer to the sustainability problem of today. This framework is comprised of three levels: functional, typological and archetypal. These three levels combined, look at a building in terms of its functionality, its relevance to its region and the universal beauty that it must possess to exist long term. The union of aesthetics with function is what can save the planet. For this research, the focus of study is the traditional residential architecture of the city of Lahore, Pakistan, a city with a rich cultural background. Throughout history, Lahore has seen many transformations with respect to its architecture. Its architectural history can be traced back to the Indus Valley Civilization in the 3rd millennium BC, to a predominance of Buddhism, to a prevalence of Hinduism transformed further by the advent of Islam, the arrival of the British and the founding of the independent state of Pakistan. Currently, the housing trends are continuing to become more and more westernized in a pattern that is not fit for the region because of their inability to provide comfortable living environments and life-enriching spaces. In order to provide better housing solutions for the future, it is important that we look back at examples that have passed the test of time. This report discusses the present day and traditional housing trends of Lahore. With the purpose of improving the current residential designs, an analysis of a traditional house of Lahore has been performed to learn how it meets the criteria of Deep Beauty and sustainability. The results from this analysis provide design strategies that can be incorporated into present day houses to achieve sustainability. Based on these conclusions, a more sustainable design has been proposed for the modern house.

Beauty in Snowflakes: Complexity and Visual Aesthetics

Adkins, Olivia C 01 April 2016 (has links)
Experimental aesthetics research has been conducted since the nineteenth century. Interestingly, however, few studies have examined the perceived beauty of naturally shaped objects. In the current experiment, 204 participants were presented with a set of ten snowflake silhouettes that varied in complexity (perimeter relative to area); they were similarly presented with ten randomly-shaped, computer-generated, solid objects that also varied in complexity. For each stimulus set, the participants selected the single snowflake or object that was the most beautiful (Fechner’s method of choice). The results for the solid objects replicated the findings of earlier research: the most and least complex objects were chosen as the most beautiful. Moderately complex objects were rarely selected. The results for the snowflakes were different. For these visual stimuli, the least complex snowflakes were almost never chosen; only the complex snowflakes were perceived to be most beautiful, with the aesthetic preference increasing with increases in complexity.
