For children, high quality friendships are associated with adaptive social, emotional and academic functioning. There is also evidence that children experience real and imaginary friendships in similar ways, and that imagined relationships could have an impact on development. However, less is known about the relationships made possible by virtual agents in digital media. This dissertation research was designed to provide preliminary data about children’s concepts of virtual agents, and the social opportunities they attribute to such entities. In Studies 1 and 2 (combined N = 48), preschool aged children differentiated the social affordances of a stuffed dog and a virtual dog. Participants played a game in which they guessed whether a child in a video was referring to a stuffed dog or a virtual dog in a series of statements. Items designed to assess high quality friendships, such as comfort, protection and love, were attributed more to the stuffed dog than the virtual dog. Studies 3 and 4 examined adult and child concepts of a virtual child, and how concepts of this entity might differ from a real child, a child on a video chat program (e.g., Skype™) and an inanimate doll. Adults and children attributed a range of properties to each child agent, including biological, psychological and social properties, as well as opportunities for relationships. In Study 3 (N = 144), adults did not differentiate between the virtual child and the doll on the social property; however, they favored the doll on opportunities for unilateral relationships. In Study 4 (N = 30), five to eight-year-old children indicated an overall preference for the doll on the social property, as well as on opportunities for reciprocal relationships. Children also favored the doll on opportunities for love, companionship, and intimate disclosure. Altogether, these findings suggest that virtual agents afford more limited social opportunities than inanimate artifacts, and they are less likely to be loved by children and adults alike. These results raise important questions about the design goals for virtual agents, and the functions they are intended to serve in our everyday lives. In this study Complementarity in Therapy, it has been outlined how the construct, cybernetic complementary description or complementarity can be used in therapy to invent an imaginary team for the helper working solo. Complementarity is used to create alternative ideas, simulating the contribution of a team especially in pre-session hypothesising. A literature study explores the possibilities of complementarity as a cybernetic constructivist construct. Of special significance is the contributions of Varela's formulation of complementarity as trinities, introducing the slash (/) Keeney's emphasis on recursion indicated by circulating arrows and Flemeons emphasis on imbrecation and levels of connection illustrated with different types of lettering. Este trabalho se situa na fronteira das áreas de Comunicação, fotografia e estudos do imaginário. Partimos do pressuposto de que as fotografias produzidas a partir do aplicativo Instagram e das câmeras da marca LOMO atingiram grande popularidade em razão de sua semelhança estética. Para concretizar este trabalho, fizemos uma exaustiva análise dessas duas ferramentas: seus modos de criação e fruição e sua relação com o tempo através de teóricos influentes das teorias do imaginário e da Comunicação. Além da pesquisa bibliográfica, nos utilizamos da mitodologia para buscar as imagens simbólicas recorrentes e regimes do imaginário que guiam essas ferramentas e suas constelações de imagens. Descobrimos que a semelhança estética entre as duas ferramentas seria apenas uma potencialidade, uma vez que os usuários do Instagram não têm como pulsão motora a busca pela estética, mas sim o clicar- publicar-impressionar, guiados pela técnica. Dessa forma, foi possível situar o Instagram como modelo do que seria um imaginário comunicacional, guiado pelo Regime Heroico do imaginário, caracterizado pelo titanismo e pela desestetização, enquanto a lomografia se situaria na polaridade oposta, guiada pelo Regime Místico e pela busca estética, sendo uma equilibração natural do próprio imaginário. / This work is located in the border areas of Communication, photography and imaginary studies. We assume that the photographs taken from the Instagram app and the LOMO cameras reached great popularity due to its aesthetic similarity. In order to achieve this work, we did a thorough analysis of these two tools: their modes of creation and enjoyment and its relationship to time by influential theorists of the imaginary and Communication theories. In the literature, we use the mitodologia to check the recourent symbolic images and imaginary schemes that guide these tools and their constellations of images. We found that the aesthetic similarity between the two tools would be only a potentiality, since Instagram users do not have as motor drive the search for aesthetics, but the click - publish - impress, guided by technique. Thus, it was possible to locate Instagram as a model of what would be a Communicational Imaginary, guided by the imaginary Heroic Regime, characterized by Titanism and the deaesthetization while lomography would stand in the opposite polarity, guided by Mystic Regime and the aesthetic pursuit, and a natural balancing of the imaginary itself.

This thematic is approached under the following perspectives: Sociology of Knowledge and Philosophy relating to the concept of thought, and Oral History e History of Present time concerning the methodological procedures (organization and dealing with the sources, and time analysis) These perspectives led the way in which the contemporary history of Brazilian geographical thought is seen at the turn of the XX to XXI century from the 1980`s on. First, this study conducted an evaluation of some concepts and approaches in the History of geographical thought in Brazil. Afterwards the History of Human Geography was remade/retelled according to some social theories which prevailed in the modern and contemporary geographical thought. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Este trabalho analisa a constituição do imaginário missionário a partir da abordagem dos escritos do missionário jesuíta Antônio Sepp. Investiga a função desempenhada pelo discurso articulado nos escritos em questão. Argumenta a hipótese de que nos escritos de Sepp se articula a proposição de um imaginário legitimador de sua ação missionária. Pondera que esse discurso apresenta-se como elemento de constituição de sentido da realidade e de antecipação idealizada de um estado de coisas a se efetivar. A pesquisa aborda o conceito de escrita da história e a noção de imaginário como referenciais de análise dos elementos investigados. Desenvolve reflexões acerca das representações de identidade articuladas desde a constatação do outro diferente de si. Problematiza questões relacionadas à percepção e compreensão da alteridade. Tematiza compreensões sobre práticas e iniciativas missionárias desenvolvidas entre os povos indígenas. Considera aspectos concernentes aos resultados da atuação missionária descritos por Sepp em seus relatos. / This work assesses the constitution of the missionary imaginary from the approach of the writings of the missionary Jesuit Antônio Sepp. It investigates the function performed by the articulated speech in the concerned writings. It argues that in the Sepps writings, the proposition of a legitimating imaginary of its missionary action is articulated. It ponders that this speech presents itself as an element of constitution of reality sense and of an idealized anticipation of a state of things to be effective. The research approaches the writing concept of history and the notion of imaginary as referential of analysis of the elements investigated. It develops reflections about representations of articulated identities from the observation of the other different from themselves. It questions matters regarding the perception and comprehension of alteration. It brings the theme to comprehension about practices and missionary initiatives developed between the indigenous people. It considers aspects concerning to the results of the missionary action described by Sepp in his reports.

La peur est traditionnellement comprise comme une « émotion fondamentale » ; en cette formule obscure on entend communément la peur comme une conséquence psycho-physiologique d'un stimulus objectif. La peur se voit ainsi définie en sa périphérie causaliste. Dès lors, l'antienne définitionnelle ne parvient jamais (ni ne cherche) à la cerner en sa phénoménalité. C'est en cette aporie que le présent travail s'insère. En outre, précisément, ladite aporie hante la philosophie durandienne (Durand, 1960) faisant de la peur à la fois une conséquence du temps ennemi et un profond et essentiel dynamisme de l'imaginaire. L'imaginaire trouverait ainsi son essence dans l'extériorité du monde perdant ainsi sa marque transcendantale. Toutefois, en s'affranchissant de la théorie ordinaire de la peur, en tentant de la comprendre en sa phénoménalité, et pour cela en s'appuyant sur la profonde réflexion henryenne dévoilant l'affectivité comme Essence de la Manifestation (Henry, 1963), il paraît possible d'enrayer cette progressive aliénation de l'imaginaire. L'affectivité, et conséquemment la peur, comprises comme cette essence transcendantale, l'imaginaire dynamisé par elles retrouve un ancrage éidétique stable. Ce dynamisme aux pieds ancrés dans la transcendantalité et aux mains qui façonnent structurellement les constellations d'images, c'est le schème ; non plus ce schème qui se perdait dans les mystères du réflexe, de l'instinct, de la pulsion, etc. mais ce schème issu du plus essentiel des savoirs – le savoir affectif immanent de soi : le schème est affectif, il est la transcendance affective qui de l'affectivité structure l'imaginaire, manifeste le monde. En empruntant les voies de la phénoménologie bachelardienne, ce schème affectif – ici anxiologique – peut être retrouvé. Nous verrons qu'il est double – pénétrant et constricteur – et qu'il se joue sur différentes voix (passive, intermédiaire, active). Afin de montrer l'étendue et l'efficace de cette schématique mais également afin de répondre aux exigences contextuelles qui portent le présent travail (partenariat avec le Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique de Grenoble), nous parcourrons l'imaginaire anxiologique de la technologie RadioFrequency Identification (RFID). Loin de n'être qu'un simple et froid agrégat de silice permettant de nouvelles données et de nouveaux flux informationnels, la RFID est un produit technique, est un produit humain. Comme tel, elle n'a de réalité et de possibilité que sur le fonds anthropologique duquel elle émerge. Visto que, em grande parte, a imagem de um corpo saudável disseminada pelos meios de comunicação é constituída por corpos belos, objetiva-se, a partir desse quadro, investigar como o discurso da saúde utilizado pela edição brasileira da revista Men’s Health é construído, pois, em um primeiro momento, parece-nos que seu objetivo é o de retratar temas relacionados e pertencentes ao gênero do discurso da beleza masculina, como é possível verificar pelo conteúdo anunciado em suas capas. Para isto, primeiramente, estudamos o conceito de saúde, tomando por base a ideia de que um corpo saudável é um corpo sem doenças e, em seguida, a partir de Charaudeau, buscamos compreender como a mídia constrói seu discurso. Só então, utilizando o conceito de gênero do discurso de Bakhtin, foram analisados os discursos com os quais a revista trabalha, dando ênfase aos que estão presentes em suas capas. Concluímos que os discursos da Men’s Health fazem parte do gênero do discurso da saúde. Entretanto, a revista faz uso de um imaginário de saúde no qual a beleza é um elemento indispensável deste discurso. Isto é, há uma simbiose entre os discursos da saúde e da beleza. Porém, neste caso, a beleza é um valor simbólico voltado para a sedução e erotização do corpo saudável. Por isto, a imagem possui uma grande importância para este imaginário e uma relevante participação no discurso veiculado por esta publicação. Também foi possível constatar que este imaginário não é acessível a qualquer pessoa. Consequentemente, ele se enquadra em uma lógica de mercado na qual a saúde é o resultado de um estilo de vida permeado pelo consumo de produtos e comportamentos que conferem a seu público-alvo não só a imagem de pessoas saudáveis, mas de sujeitos bem-sucedidos. / This study was born from the perception of a large space that currently the media dedicate to the topic of health and how often beauty seems to be a prerequisite for any individual to be recognized as healthy. This is due to, in large part, the image of a healthy body disseminated by the media consisting of beautiful bodies. Within this framework, the aim of this study was to investigate whether, as indicated by its name, the Brazilian edition of Men's Health magazine belongs to the branch of publications pertaining to the health discourse genre. Conversely, at first, it might seem its goal was to portray issues belonging to the male beauty discourse genre, as can be verified by the content on their covers. For this analysis, we first studied the concept of health, based on the idea that a healthy body is a body without disease. Secondly, from Charaudeau’s framework, we seek to understand how the media construct its discourse. Only then, using the concept of Bakhtin's discourse genre, the discourses of the magazine were analyzed, with an emphasis on those present in its covers. We conclude that Men's Health’s discourses are part of the health genre. Nevertheless, the magazine makes use of a health imaginary in which beauty is an essential element of this discourse. That is, there is a symbiosis between the discourses of health and beauty. However, in this case, beauty is a symbolic value related to the seduction and erotization of the healthy body. Therefore, the image has a great importance to this imaginary and a relevant participation in the discourse conveyed by this publication. The analysis also showed that this imaginary is not accessible to everyone. Consequently, it meets a market logic in which health is the result of a lifestyle permeated by product and behavior consumption which give the magazine’s target audience not only the image of healthy people, but also of successful individuals.

Nesse sentido, a polêmica inserção da arquitetura moderna paulista no centro histórico de cidades médias é analisada integrando as perspectivas de Vilanova Artigas e Henry Lefèbvre. Assim, o ausente é a cidade que se nega como fenômeno social, a presentificação é o desenho (desígnio) e a superação é o projeto. Então, da percepção para a cognição do espaço urbano, passando pelas relações do lote e a rua, do público e o privado, da centralidade e o lugar, do conservador e o moderno, do clientelismo e as relações de poder, discuto o discurso e a prática dessa arquitetura. Esse desígnio se concretizou? A obra está fora do lugar? Com o apoio da linguagem do desenho e suas representações, no processo da práxis do urbanismo, mediado pela função social do urbanista, faço uma reflexão sobre a cidade concebida, vivida e apropriada, e do arranjo possível, portanto, da cidade da memória, da imaginação e a ser denunciada. A forma da cidade possui um conteúdo não utilizado a ser revelado. Portanto, a cidade é o lugar das possibilidades; sendo assim, a cidade da imaginação possibilita uma perspectiva da realização do desígnio de Artigas. / Abstract: Observing the city with the focus in its buildings in order to understand the urban process is the path that this research proposes. In this sense, the polemic insertion of the São Paulo modern architecture in the historical centers of middle-size cities is analyzed by integrating the perspectives of Vilanova Artigas and Henry Lefèbvre. Thus, the absence is the city as a social phenomenon, the materialization is the design and the overcoming is the project. Therefore, from the perception to the cognition of the urban space, passing by the relations between lot and street, public and private, centrality and the place, conservative and modern, clientelism and relations of power, I discuss the discourse and the practice of such architecture. Has such design been accomplished? Is the building out of place? Supported by the language of design and its representations, in the process of the praxis of urbanism intermediated by the urbanist's social role, I make a reflection about the conceived, the lived and the appropriated city, and the possible arrangement of the city of memory, of imagination and the one to be denounced. The shape of the city has a non-used content to be revealed. Therefore, the city is the place of possibilities. Esta dissertação cujo título é Imaginário sobre a Língua Portuguesa e seu ensino em Balsas-MA, - tem como objetivo investigar os métodos pelos quais é realizado o ensino da Língua Portuguesa no Brasil, especialmente na cidade-campo, Balsas-MA. O tema foi realizado sob a orientação do Prof. Dr. Helênio de Oliveira, da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O que motivou a decisão de investigar esse tema foi o fato de que muitas dificuldades são encontradas pelos professores no processo de ensino. No capítulo 1, é apresentado um breve histórico da cidade de Balsas. O capítulo 2 é sobre os pressupostos teóricos adotados no trabalho, onde os conceitos relacionados a imaginário são discutidos. No terceiro capítulo descrevemos a metodologia utilizada, de maneira clara e concisa.
