A atividade de ensino de história: processo de formação de professores e alunos / The story of teaching activity: training process of teachers and students

Olavo Pereira Soares 24 June 2005 (has links)
The main goal of this research is to analyze and to propose a methodology for history teaching. Such methodology takes into account two specific characteristics of technological societies in the interrelationship with school practices: the media culture that both student and teacher bring along to school, and teachers continuing education process. Such methodology is intended to contribute towards a more meaningful teaching of History for both parties involved teachers and students in such a way that History becomes a more comprehensive tool in interpreting day-to-day events as well as a continuing education process. The research made it possible to elaborate a theoretical-methodological approach we called History teaching activity. The theoretical milestones upon which such approach is based are: Aléxis Leontiev´s theory of activity, which is part of the historic-cultural approach in psychology; the fundamentals of communication pedagogy and its didactic principle of a communication-oriented attitude; the research which analyzes the concepts of the investigative teacher and the researcher teacher; historiography which identifies itself with culture analysis in different periods in time. The theoretical-methodological references were used to analyze a set of four History teaching activities that took place along the years 1997 to 2000, in public and private schools in the city of São Paulo. The data of these classes were gathered by the researcher who then used the research-action methodological principles. The analysis of the data in the light of such theoretical-methodological principles made it possible for the researcher to show the principles that oriented the construction of History teaching activities. Such proposal was believed to be valid as well as its inclusion in the debate about history teaching.

La pratique des séries télévisées : une sociologie de l’activité spectatorielle / The practice of TV series : a sociology of the activity of spectating

Combes, Clément 12 September 2013 (has links)
What does it means to love a "TV series" nowadays? Or, to use a more pragmatic formulation, what do television series make their viewers do? To answer these questions, this thesis invites the reader to move beyond the paradigm of reception – on which the majority of studies in the field build upon - and explore the remits and contours of the practice of series. The aim is to study the practical activities undertaken by amateurs, how their attachments to the series are built, the ingredients of this attachment, and the material, technical and relational means of this attachment. This work shows that spectators' practices do not stop at the moment of viewing, when the individual is in front of his post, but extends to all activities, times and spaces through which an individual connects to a series. Drawing upon forty in-depth interviews and an examination of the ways in which series are socio-technically mediated, the thesis proposes to follow amateurs in their daily practices, from the viewing and storage of series, to their conversational exchanges, as well as through the procedures of information and discovery, procurement and sharing of content. All these activities are not only "receptive". As the thesis shows, they are at once reflexive, embodied, instrumented and collective, and they reveal the diversity of attachments of the "seriephiles" to these singular objects.

[pt] A INCRÍVEL HISTÓRIA DE LENY EVERSONG OU A POTÊNCIA DA MEMÓRIA CONTRA PADRÕES ESTÉTICOS E PATRULHAS NACIONALISTA / [en] THE AMAZING STORY OF LENY EVERSONG OR THE POWER OF MEMORY AGAINST AESTHETIC STANDARDS AND NATIONALISTIC PATROLS

RODRIGO FAOUR TEIXEIRA 01 June 2020 (has links)
[en] This dissertation critically analyzes the work of São Paulo-born singer Leny Eversong (1920-1984), who enjoyed great success back in the 1950s and 1960s, but vanished from the Brazilian cultural and artistic memory. It showcases her legacy and issues regarding her biography to the contemporaneity. Besides the redemption of her story, this work discusses the survival of female artists outside the normative beauty and artistic standards in Brazilian media culture. It also highlights the populist nationalism of the press and historians of her time when dealing with an artist who stepped out with an essentially international repertoire that did not fit the traditional criteria considered dear to them.

Konst i omlopp : mening, medier och marknad i Stockholm under 1700-talets senare hälft / Art in Circulation : Meaning, Media, and Market in Eighteenth-Century Stockholm

Petersson, Sonya January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this doctoral thesis is to explore how art was mediated and given meaning in the environment of an urban media culture in Stockholm during the second part of the 18th century. It comprises studies of how art was distributed on the market, how it was discussed in the press and how it was exhibited in public. It also includes an analytical orientation toward mixing of concepts and values, rather than purifying them into categories such as elite and popular. Art is approached as an open concept of investigation. The thesis presents three studies. The first discusses art as concepts and subject matter in papers, pamphlets and encyclopaedias, with a critical stand against the historiography emphasizing the establishment of the 'fine arts'. The second situates art in two parallel practises of showing art in public, exhibitions arranged by the Academy of Arts and the Auction Chamber's public sales. The third deals with prints on the market, a medium equally recognized as one of the fine arts and as a visual mass medium. All studies also consider notions of interaction, public, and social class. Two overarching arguments are developed. The first concerns media cultural functions as mechanisms of cultural transgression. This argument points to the mixing of international and local, regarding both themes in the press and prints on the market. It also stresses the mixing of art, commerce, and entertainment, in the dual character of both the academy's exhibitions and the auction's sales. The second argument consists in pointing to alternative cuts, by which I suggest discursive relations between art, luxury, entertainment, and knowledge. These are areas that, since the 18th century, have often been kept apart, but were nonetheless deeply interwoven. One overarchig pattern studied throughout the thesis is the 18th-century linking of the fine arts as well as luxury, entertainment, and knowledge to a perceptually defined subject.

Black Food Trucks Matter: A Qualitative Study Examining The (Mis)Representation, Underestimation, and Contribution of Black Entrepreneurs In The Food Truck Industry

Ariel D Smith (14223191) 11 August 2023 (has links)

Food trucks have become increasingly popular over the last decade following the Great Recession of 2008. Scholars have begun to study the food truck phenomenon, its future projected trajectory, and even positioning it within social justice discourse along cultural lines; however, scholarship has yet to address the participation of Black entrepreneurs in the food truck industry.

The objective of this dissertation is to expand the perception of Black food entrepreneurs within the food truck industry by interrogating how Black food truck owners are misrepresented, under analyzed, and underestimated. Using a series of interdisciplinary qualitative methods including introspective analysis, thematic coding analysis, and case studies, I approach this objective by addressing three questions. First, I analyze movies and television to understand where Black-owned food trucks are represented in popular culture and how they are depicted. In doing so, we come to understand that Black business representation, specifically Black food truck representation consistently falls victim to negative stereotypes. These stereotypes can influence the extent to which Black food truck owners are taken seriously and seen as legitimate business leaders in their community. Second, I interview 16 Black food truck entrepreneurs to understand why the mobile food industry appealed to them and how it has become a platform for them to explore other opportunities. Finally, I review eight cities that have launched Black food truck festivals and parks within the last 6 years to gain an understanding of the collective power wielded by Black food truck owners and its impact Black communities. Moreover, this dissertation challenges the myth that collectivism does not exist among Black entrepreneurs and the Black community broadly.
