Sharenting, ett etiskt dilemma : En studie av familjer på YouTube / Sharenting, an ethical dilemma : A study about families on YouTube

Sjöholm, Jessica, Lidenalv, Jenny January 2021 (has links)
A picture tells more than a thousand words. When our parents grew up they had a camera with a film roll that they elicited to put in a frame on our walls with a purpose to show to friends and families that visited our home. Kids of today are on social media in front of hundreds of spectators before they are even born. Vloggers’ display of private lives in public is something that many parents do around the world today. It's a competition about the followers and the more you expose yourself and the more privacy you show, the more followers you get. Many people and above all families live on their YouTubechannel and do it as a fulltime job which puts pressure on them to always deliver something interesting to keep their followers intact.  Our purpose with this study is to find out if parents consider before they publish their kids on YouTube. We want to find out how different families in different situations handle kids' right to a private life and in which contexts they represent their kids. To be able to answer our purpose we used a netnographic observation on YouTube. The theoretical frameworks that we used are Goffman's dramaturgical perspective and Hall´s theory about representation and encoding/decoding. We also lean on Baudrillard and his theory about the consumer society to put our analysis in a bigger framework. The results that we found are that in some of the families in our study, the line between privacy and publicity are being erased as the media culture is penetrating private lives. In some situations you can clearly see that the kids, by their bodylanguage, tell that they want to be in their own private sphere and not in the spotlight.

"Hooja" en ny form av makthavare : En kvalitativ undersökning om de etiska överväganden som görs vid namn- och bildpublicering av offentliga personer / “Hooja” a new form of power holder : A qualitative survey about the ethical considerations that are made when publishing names and images of public figures

Gustafsson, Ellen, Nilsson, Cornelia January 2024 (has links)
On the eighth of July 2023, the Swedish tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet published the identities of the anonymous music group Hooja. The publication provoked strong reactions from the fans of Hooja. Only a few of the Swedish newspapers chose to publish the disclosure or to make a remark on it. In this study the publishers and editors-in-chief who were essential to the debate have been interviewed. The journalist who wrote the revealing article of the music group Hooja, has also been interviewed for the essay. The study and the interviews have been done based on the disclosure of Hooja's identities and have discussed the topics about ethical considerations and journalistic decisions associated with the emergence of social media and its impact on the industry. The essay has been done with a qualitative method, more precisely, with research interviews and a thematic analysis. The theory of media ethics is used in the study. News selection and news valuation are also theories that have been used in the essay. With the emergence of social media, a new form of authorities has also emerged. It has affected the Swedish news industry in different ways. During the research interviews the pros and cons of the definition of what an authority is, were discussed. Furthermore it is discussed how a publisher and editor-in-chief may think about investigative journalism in a changed media landscape with a new form of authorities. What emerges is that it is no longer clear to determine who has authority and therefore determine who should be investigated. It must be an individual assessment on a case-by-case basis. The revealing of Hooja's identities are an example of when different news media are not in agreement. What is set against each other in the news evaluation is the public interest and relevance versus the possible publicity damage.

Gymnasieskola i förändring, IT & mediekultur : Skilda sätt att erfara IT i gymnasieskolan

Leijon, Marie, Söderquist, Elisabeth January 2005 (has links)

Lizette, Andersson January 2016 (has links)
Although music is primarily intended for the ear, today's live performances seem more visually stimulating than ever. Live performance has evolved into a show for the audience to watch as well as listen to, increasing the demands on visual representation. To further todays understaning of the role vision plays in perception of live music, an audience got to experience the opposite; a live concert behind the blindfold. If visual perception is removed; what does the audience make of the performance? By conducting qualitative interviews with both performer and audience it is possible to distinguish tendencies that show how the eyes act as medium not only to perceive the live performance, but also to aid audience perception of self during the social activity that consitutes a live concert. When visual perception is not possible, the participants are forced to renegotiate how they see themselves as individuals and as part of a collective.

Konst i omlopp : mening, medier och marknad i Stockholm under 1700-talets senare hälft / Art in Circulation : Meaning, Media, and Market in Eighteenth-Century Stockholm

Petersson, Sonya January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this doctoral thesis is to explore how art was mediated and given meaning in the environment of an urban media culture in Stockholm during the second part of the 18th century. It comprises studies of how art was distributed on the market, how it was discussed in the press and how it was exhibited in public. It also includes an analytical orientation toward mixing of concepts and values, rather than purifying them into categories such as elite and popular. Art is approached as an open concept of investigation. The thesis presents three studies. The first discusses art as concepts and subject matter in papers, pamphlets and encyclopaedias, with a critical stand against the historiography emphasizing the establishment of the 'fine arts'.  The second situates art in two parallel practises of showing art in public, exhibitions arranged by the Academy of Arts and the Auction Chamber's public sales. The third deals with prints on the market, a medium equally recognized as one of the fine arts and as a visual mass medium. All studies also consider notions of interaction, public, and social class. Two overarching arguments are developed. The first concerns media cultural functions as mechanisms of cultural transgression. This argument points to the mixing of international and local, regarding both themes in the press and prints on the market. It also stresses the mixing of art, commerce, and entertainment, in the dual character of both the academy's exhibitions and the auction's sales. The second argument consists in pointing to alternative cuts, by which I suggest discursive relations between art, luxury, entertainment, and knowledge. These are areas that, since the 18th century, have often been kept apart, but were nonetheless deeply interwoven. One overarchig pattern studied throughout the thesis is the 18th-century linking of the fine arts as well as luxury, entertainment, and knowledge to a perceptually defined subject.
