Stejskal, Tomáš January 2015 (has links)
The aim of this work is the design and implementation of a sound level meter for emdedded systems. It is designed sound level meter sensor. This sensor includes a microphone, microphone preamplifier and ADC. This sensor is connected to a development kit STM32F4 Discovery, where sound is processed. It is processed filtration, time weighting, calculation of sound leve and loudness weighting. The sound level is then sent via the serial communication USART. This thesis includes a theoretical analysis of noise and its human perceptions. It also describes the development platform used.

Robot řízený mikroprocesorovou jednotkou PIC / Robot Controlled by PIC Microprocessor Unit

Heřman, Petr January 2015 (has links)
This thesis describes design of a cheap robot. It includes implementation of firmware of low level control unit based on microcontroller PIC. The firmware drives motors, gains sensors data and communicates with the high level control unit. Furthermore the thesis presents realisation of connection to the robotic operation system ROS and its standard structures allowing usage of existing packages for the robot teleoperation and displaying sensor data on the remote computer. The thesis finally reports experiments with the robot. The constructed prototype is the model of the robotic lawn mower, however the whole solution has universal usage.

DEVELOPING AN APPROACH TO IMPROVE BETA-PHASE PROPERTIES IN FERROELECTRIC PVDF-HFP THIN FILMS

Ashley S Dale (8771429) 02 May 2020 (has links)
Improved fabrication of poly(vinylindenefluoride)-hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP) thin films is of particular interest due to the high electric coercivity found in the beta-phase structure of the thin film. We show that it is possible to obtain high-quality, beta-phase dominant PVDF-HFP thin films using a direct approach to Langmuir-Blodgett deposition without the use of annealing or additives. To improve sample quality, an automated Langmuir-Blodgett thin film deposition system was developed; a custom dipping trough was fabricated, a sample dipping mechanism was designed and constructed, and the system was automated using custom LabVIEW software. Samples were fabricated in the form of ferroelectric capacitors on substrates of glass and silicon, and implement a unique step design with a bottom electrode of copper with an aluminum wetting layer and a top electrode of gold with an aluminum wetting layer. Samples were then characterized using a custom ferroelectric measurement program implemented in LabVIEW with a Keithley picoammeter/voltage supply to confirm electric coercivity properties. Further characterization using scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy confirmed the improvement in thin film fabrication over previous methods.

IMPLEMENTING NETCONF AND YANG ON CUSTOM EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

Georges, Krister, Jahnstedt, Per January 2023 (has links)
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) has been the traditional approach for configuring and monitoring network devices, but its limitations in security and automation have driven the exploration of alternative solutions. The Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) and Yet Another Next Generation (YANG) data modeling language significantly improve security and automation capabilities. This thesis aims to investigate the feasibility of implementing a NETCONF server on the Anybus CompactCom (ABCC) Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Security module, an embedded device with limited processing power and memory, running on a custom operating system, and using open source projects with MbedTLS as the cryptographic primitive library. The project will assess implementing a YANG model to describe the ABCC’s configurable interface, connecting with a NETCONF client to exchange capabilities, monitoring specific attributes or interfaces on the device, and invoking remote procedure call (RPC) commands to configure the ABCC settings. The goal is to provide a proof of concept and contribute to the growing trend of adopting NETCONF and YANG in the industry, particularly for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform of Hardware Meets Software (HMS).

A comparison of two types of light control systems : Open-and closed light control system and their different behaviors / En jämförelse mellan två typer av ljus kontrollsystem : Öppet-och stängt ljus kontrollsystem och deras skillnader

Manheij, Freddie January 2022 (has links)
Decreasing energy consumption has become increasingly important in recent times due to climate change. The average temperature is increasing across the planet, and with it, an increase in droughts and other climate disasters can be seen. There are multiple ways to decrease energy consummation, and one of them is to regulate the light in a building. Much research has been done on light control aiming at offices and workplaces using a close loop system. However, even if those solutions work in a home environment, other solutions could offer a better solution. One solution could be using an open-loop system that senses the ambient light and decides to control the light based on that. An open-loop system’s benefit is that it may not need a sensor for each area like the closed-loop system needs, but the performance of such a system is unknown. Therefore, this thesis takes it upon itself to explore the open-loop system and compare it to a closed-loop system. The goal of the thesis is to compare the performance of the two systems and discover what differs in terms of usability for end-use and development. The results of the thesis are that the performance of the open-loop system does lack in comparison with the closed-loop system, but it is still in a usable range and could likely be improved. The usability of the open-loop system is also worse in terms of the end-use and development. The open-loop system needs further steps and parts to work satisfyingly compared to the closed-loop system. Further research would have to be done to answer if the open-loop system could work with only one sensor and solve other problems. A few solutions are suggested, but further research would be required to raise the open-loop system to a proper working system accessible for end-use.
