It does not discuss if there is religious cure or not, it concentrates, however, on investigating the psychological elements present, or which contribute to the execution of religious Pentecostal cure. It intends to understand in some way the psychological apparatus and its elements which, starting from religious and psychological symbolism, turn themselves into participants in this discussion, through jungian vision. It questions to what point the religious pentecostal cures aren t also psychosomatic cures. To Jung, the symbol is the psychological mechanism which transforms the energy, and which can be considered as the individual expression of the archetype. The symbol is the means that provides the possibility of using the energy flow for some kind of production. Jung called the energy-transforming symbol the image of the libido , which would be the presentations that can give an equivalent expression to the libido, canalizing it to a form different from the original one. The research deals with: health, sickness and sick; religion, psychology and the efficience of both in the cure. It culminates in the field work with four case studies of religious pentecostal cure, where the psychological aspects are studied.

This dissertation is organized in two articles: a theoretical article and an empirical article. The theoretical article focus on the phenomenon of somatization and the importance of the maternal role in establishing the preconscious of the individual and his capacity of symbolization and trauma development, reflecting onthe connection among the recurrent somatic disorders. Its theoretical reference is theFrench School of Psychosomatics, emphasizing Pierre Marty’s approach and some of hisprincipal concepts. The empirical article focuses on women life stories who have recurrent somatics complaints. It is a qualitative exploratory research with multiple casestudies that aims to understand the participants perspective in relation to their life stories and somatic symptomatology. Its theoretical reference is the French School of Psychosomatics, emphasizing Pierre Marty’s approach, also discussing the issues of parental bonding and narrativity. The Mini Mental Test, the Toronto Alexithymia Scale – TAS 26, the Parental Bonding Instrument and the Life Stories Interviews are used to develop the researchinvestigation. The results found point to the similarities in the parental bonds, responsibilities overload, trauma experience, grief and impoverished speech. One of the participants, despite have responded to the selection criteria, revealed histrionic traits, waving to the possibility of a conversive crisis or a themporary psychosomatic disorganization which ultimately enrich the questions around the issue, including the possibilities of misunderstanding thecomprehension of the symptoms.

Personalidad y Dermatología. Perfil Psicológico en neurodermitis

Martín Brufau, Ramón 24 July 2009 (has links)
This research explores the relationships between dermatologic disease and personality. 108 dermatologic patients affected with skin diseases influenced by psychological variables were recruited. The dermatologic diseases were Lichen simplex Chronicus, Psoriasis and Burning Mouth syndrome. Lichen Simplex Chronicus is produced by a intense scratching in locations accessible to the patient witch produces lichenification of the skin in response to the scratching, usually associated with emotionally stressful situations. As a consequence, itching is produced and maintains the scratching cycle witch provokes the lesions. The personality profiles of these dermatologic conditions are compared with those in normal population to obtain the personality characteristics of this dermatologic group. Results support the hypothesis that different personality styles exist between dermatologic and normal group. These differences are interpreted following the Millon theory of Personality.

Skapa rum. Ung femininitet, kroppslighet och psykisk ohälsa : genusmedveten hälsofrämjande intervention. / Create space. Young femininity, body and mental health : a gender sensitive and health promoting intervention.

Strömbäck, Maria January 2014 (has links)
Mental health problems among young people, girls and young women in particular, are a serious public health problem. Gendered patterns of mental illness are seen in conjunction with stress-related problems such as anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic complaints. Intervention models tailored to the health care situation are therefore in need of development and evaluation. The overall aim of this thesis is to develop knowledge and understanding for young women’s mental health, stress-related, and bodily problems from a psychosomatic and gender theory perspective, and to evaluate a gender sensitive physiotherapeutic intervention model consisting of a stress management course for young women with stress-related problems. The thesis consists of four studies. The overall research design combines qualitative and quantitative methods in which questionnaires and interviews were used to explore participant experiences and symptoms linked to perceived stress before and after the intervention. Data consisted of a cumulative sample of 65 young women, 16 to 25 years of age, who attended the youth-friendly health center because of stress-related problems. In paper I, multiple symptom areas of mental health and somatic problems, self-image and aspects of body perception were measured before the course. Participants were 47 of the young women. The results were compared with published normative and clinical reference groups. In paper II, the young women’s experiences of living stressful femininity were analysed with a qualitative content analysis using gender theoretical and phenomenological perspectives as an interpretative frame. The study was based on interviews with 25 of the women. In paper III, follow-up interviews were done with 32 of the women after completion of the course. Data was using qualitative content analysis to illuminate experiences of participating in the course. In paper IV, the course was evaluated by measuring changes in multiple symptom areas using the Adult Self Report (ASR), Social Analysis of Social Behaviour (SASB), and Body Perception Questionnaire (BPQ). Participants were 54 of the women who completed measurements finishing the course. Young women present complex symptomatology of stress-related problems. The total burden of symptoms plus the narrated experiences highlight how renegotiations of gender constructions and handling of normative and stressful femininity constrain access to bodily resources. After the stress management course, their measured and narrated experiences show positive changes and release of mental health and stress problems, including a more positive self-image and sense of enhanced confidence in their bodies. Experiences of the course as a safe and explorative space for gendered collective understanding and embodied empowerment indicate the need to develop gender-sensitive interventions. The thesis contributes to youth and gender theoretical perspectives with integration of psychosomatic and psychiatric physiotherapy. A broader awareness of how gender constructions and sociocultural aspects are significant in the understanding of psychosomatic expressions of mental ill health and young femininity is valuable in development of theory and interventions in physiotherapy, as well as into other fields.

Gregorová, A., Relation between worker´s performance and psychosomatic difficulties, České Budějovice 2015, Thesis, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Faculty of Theology. Department of Practical Theology, Supervisor PsLic. Jan Vyhnálek The thesis in focuses to psychosomatic symptoms of two choosen respondents it´s research. I choose two respondents, who work in social sector and who suffer by psychosomatic symptoms for a long time. It was a qualitative research. I performed two case works. I used content analysis as a research method. I created theoretical chapters in a reference to the theme and also to provide theoretical basis for symptoms mentioned in my case works to the reader. First target of my thesis was to describe psychosomatic symptoms and health problems of my respondents. The second target was to describe causes of psychosomatic symptoms how respondents see it according to them selves. The third and last target was to find out, if respondents think, that the main source of their psychosomatic symptoms was their privat and family life, or if it was the social work´s performance.

[pt] PSICOSSOMÁTICA: UM DIÁLOGO ENTRE PSICANÁLISE E FILOSOFIA DA MENTE / [en] PSYCHOSOMATICS: A DIALOGUE BETWEEN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND PHILOSOPHY OF MIND

GUILHERME DE ANDRADE SALGADO 23 May 2022 (has links)
[en] Abstract: This work aims to present the dialogue between two different types of knowledge – Psychoanalysis and Philosophy of Mind – as a possibility of understanding the field of Psychosomatics. Thus, the main currents in the field of philosophy of mind will be presented in a descriptive way and, then, through criticism of each one of them, the possibility of Emergentism being understood as capable of integration with the psychodynamic vision brought by Object Relations Theory in psychoanalysis. We believe that the emergentist current, a non-reductionist monist view, presents itself as a philosophical view capable of establishing correlations with the view of mental experience from subjective interaction as defended by some psychoanalytic authors. Thus, this thesis will show that mental experience is the result of intersubjective relationships existing since the beginning of individual development and that disturbances in relationships can be configured as stressors capable of disorganization and physical illness.

Psychophysiologische Reaktionen unterpsychosomatischen Therapiebedingungen

Cotta, Livia 19 December 1998 (has links)
The purpose of this trial was to test mobile psychophysiological measurment techniques during psychosomatical therapy. SpaceLabs[tm] measured the blood pressure of psychosomatical patients, and Vitaport[tm] recorded biological signals including electromyogram, pulse, skin-conductance, breathing-frequency and motile activity. Patients entered their moods and discomforts using a Psion[tm]3 palmtop computer. During the measurement patients took part in the routine meetings in the psychotherapy ward. There were some problems with the methodology: The motile activity of patients affected the measurement, particularly with respect to the electromyogram. Breathing frequency and skin conductance could not be evaluated economically using the existing software. Psychological parameters were easy to measure, however the before-and after-therapy-measurement was not sensitive enough to detect any changes. Although the purpose of this trial was only to explore the possibility of measurement, there were some results with respect to the content: During the individual’s psychoanalytical therapy higher blood-pressure and less anger were recorded than during all other therapies. That could have resulted from a special perception of the therapy. At the end of "Funktionelle Entspannung" (functional relaxation), pulse rates were generally low. That could be explained by the relaxation, that is the theoretical aim of this therapy. Patients with psychoneurotical diseases had higher pulse rates during repose, perhaps due to a higher level of tension. These patients tended to relax during music therapy. Patients with somatisations, tended to have strong aversions to art therapy. In conclusion, mobile psychophysiological measurement could become a effective way to evaluate therapy.

Identity, Work and Gender in psychosomatic : about of breast cancer

Melo E Silva, Francilene Maria De 01 February 2013 (has links)
The present thesis is based on the clinical evolution of patients treated for breast cancer. The painfull experience engendered by the pathology and its treatment leads to transformation of their approach to work activity. These transformations induce these women patients to examine their approach to their erogenous body, their work activity and their sexual identity. Thereby the double feature of work activity (Arbeit/Poïesis), based on restoring their erogenous body in relation with work activity, is revealed as playing the major role in the psychological restoration and the settled remission process of breast cancer. Inspired by this new point of view based on experimentation in the Laboratory of Psychodynamics of Work in the CNAM (Centre national des Arts et Métiers), we decided to base our research on the contribution that Psychodynamics or Work methodology and closely connected domains could comply with our proposal for a new psychosomatic treatment of breast cancer, precisely by analysing the connection between soma and work activity in the psychological treatment for these women patients concerned. Hereafter, we argue for a psychological treatment based on the subjective approach to work activity, thus enabling our patients to conquer a new sexual identity in an uninhibited erogenous body.

A imago sômato-sensitiva na fantasia somática / Somatic-sensitive imago in somatic fantasy

Persicano, Maria Luiza Scrosoppi 22 June 2012 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Maria Luiza Scrosoppi Persicano.pdf: 13590026 bytes, checksum: 987e46a955863f199cc4194db928eb40 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-06-22 / First this study presents a review of the economic concept of somatic anxiety, developed by the author in her master's work, as seen from the point of view of Klein's theory of the fantasy. The objective of the study is to further develop ideas that are fundamental to this concept of somatic anxiety and to question them in terms of the new frame of reference. The text establishes counter-positions and counterpoints between the two sets of reference in order to determine the place of somatic anxiety in Klein s view of the process of fantasizing. At first sight, anxiety, which, in Kleinian thought, is an aspect of unconscious fantasy, would seem to go beyond Freud's economic metapsychology, and this might exclude the concept of somatic anxiety from Klein s theory of the fantasy. On the basis of clinical cases, the author tests the effectiveness and the definition of the concept of somatic anxiety in Kleinian thought and locates it metapsychologically in this theory of fantasy. The study has the overall purpose of studying unconscious fantasy and the place of somatic anxiety in such fantasy. This led to the investigation of two opposing general hypotheses: 1) somatic anxiety could be anxiety without unconscious fantasy, a position which runs counter to Kleinian thinking; or, 2) somatic anxiety is located in the theory of unconscious fantasy, implying that somatic anxiety could thus be classified as somatic. These general hypotheses led to a more specific question regarding the metapsychological possibility of somatic fantasizing. The hypotheses thus led us to conclude and to metapsychologically sustain that Kleinian primary fantasy is a state of somatic anxiety experienced in early sensory images. It is therefore a primary somatic fantasy. The author of this thesis introduces the expression somatic-sensitive imagos to refer to such early sensory images and relates manifestations of somatic 20 fantasy to them. The author then formulates the notion of somatic fantasy on the basis of somatic-sensitive imagos and attempts to compose them in a metapsychology of unconscious fantasy.

Estudo exploratório da dimensão psicobiológica do método Rolfing de integração estrutural: criação, desenvolvimento e avaliação de questionários / Exploratory studies of the psychobiological dimension of the rolfing method of structural integration: creation, development and evaluation of questionnaires

Prado, Pedro Otavio Barretto 01 September 2006 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T20:39:19Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Pedro Otavio Barretto Prado.pdf: 2458555 bytes, checksum: 716a7b8919997d32dae998594e16854b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-09-01 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Empirical evidence indicates the importance of the Rolfing Method of Structural Integration for the field of Psychology. Ida P. Rolf s work is a holistic approach of organizing the human body structure in the gravitational field by rebalancing the myofascia (connective tissue) through special touch and movement education. The objective of the study described herein is to provide a systematic and consistent method for investigating the psychobiological nature of Rolfing and its intersection with the domain of psychosomatics. The author studied the power of questionnaires that had been developed for clinical research at NAPER (Brazilian Rolfing Association s Center for Clinical Practice, Research and Studies on Rolfing) and at Rolfing schools in Brazil and the United States, where the author had participated in the simultaneous elaboration, application and evaluation of the questionnaires. The questionnaires were used in connection with the Rolfing processes of 874 clients in three groups: 714 at NAPER and 160 in the Rolfing schools (55 in Brazil and 105 in the US). The questionnaire responses were evaluated both within each and among all of these three groups. The responses to closed questions were subjected to an SPSS quantitative analysis, applying statistical tests appropriate to the metrics of the questions and responses themselves. The responses to open questions were qualitatively analyzed with an SPAD.T method: for particular words, the frequencies and contexts of their uses were tabulated; then, words were grouped by conceptual affinity, and the contexts in which they appeared were analyzed. The themes that emerged from the responses, as well as their frequencies, were noted. These analyses of the data gathered in response to the questionnaires demonstrated the presence of a psychobiological dimension of Rolfing and, what s more, demonstrated to be an efficient tool for practitioners and students alike, regardless of cultural milieu. At the schools, clients perceptions concerning their quality of life before and after the Rolfing process were evaluated through the WHO-QOL questionnaire. The results were significant, and corroborated the indications of the NAPER results. The questionnaires also addressed the pre- and post-process intensity and frequency of reported pain; and indicated a significant decrease of both intensity and frequency of pain after the process. This was the case for both recent-onset and chronic pain, regardless of the location of the pain. The author posits that use of the questionnaires is, in and of itself, a mental reflexive activity an activity that makes salient the psychobiological dimension of Rolfing and it s value as a psychosomatic method. What s more, because the questionnaires further clinical, educational and research objectives simultaneously, their use highlights the relationship among those objectives. Based on his review of the evidence, the author sets forth a proposal for a revised questionnaire that comprises two levels, which could be explored independently or jointly. The first level consists of closed questions, which facilitates the collection of data for investigation. The second consists of open questions, which elicits reflection upon the psychobiological dimension of the work. Taken as a whole, this proposed questionnaire is an instrument of both research and teaching / Evidências empíricas apontam o valor do Método Rolfing de Integração Estrutural no Campo da psicologia.
